Long overdue review - I have been coming to James in Burlingame for the hydrafacial regularly for a few years now and I love it. Before I started coming my skin was dull. Now I no longer wear makeup because my skin glows. All of the products they use and sell are top of the line. James is very gentle and has fully converted me to hydrafacials. Extractions are by far the worst part of facials for me, since I primarily struggle with congested skin. Hydrafacials are noninvasive and don't leave your skin looking bright red and splotchy for the next day! After my first booking, I decided to go all in and purchase a package of 6. I've been returning each month since then. The only con is that it can be a tad difficult to find and parking in downtown Burlingame is difficult, but there is usually residential parking and James sends you a text if you're having any issues. His skin center sells effective products, I recognized a few on his shelf that my boyfriend and I use. I see James at least once/month for 6+ years now for a Hydrafacial. He is always kind, knowledgeable, and, most importantly, full of integrity. He has advised me against certain products and procedures as they aren't right for my skin type or age. The Hydrafacials are always great and keep my skin congestion under control. I prefer them over traditional facials as they are gentler and cause less skin irritation - it helps that James' skill with the procedure is top notch!!!! l've also noticed my skin texture and elasticity improving over the years, an added benefit of the regular red light exposure (a part of the Hydrafacial). I also saw Nurse Judy three months ago for an initial consultation and administration of Botox. After an exam and discussing my concerns and history, she recommended I add Botox treatments to my temporal muscles alongside my masseter muscles for migraine management. I was on the cusp of a very strong migraine at the time of the appointment and within a few hours it started to resolve. 3 days after treatment, I felt tension relief from burgeoning migraines that I haven't in awhile. Amazing advice and administration. As a result of following Judy's recommendations and her administration, my Botox has lasted longer than it usually does - both aesthetically and migraine-relief wise. I've recommended Judy's work several times now as her work truly left such a strong remark. All of the team members I've met have all been courteous and skilled as well. After I posted my Yelp review, James sent me a letter stating that he intended to pursue a defamation claim unless I removed the review. He also sent an additional invoice for $125 related to the same appointment discussed above, increasing the claimed amount to $375 even though the only fee ever discussed prior to my review was $250. I am an attorney, so I have the experience and resources to respond to something like this without needing to hire counsel, but I imagine many customers would find that situation stressful and might feel pressured to remove a review they believed in. Pros: this place takes covid protocols seriously and I really appreciated that Experience: I booked the 75 min ultimate hydrafacial with James and when I got here, I ended up getting my facial done w Ashley instead. Ashley was super nice but I honestly felt a bit blindsided cause they did not text or notify me even when I got there that James wouldn't be doing my facial and I was super confused thinking they might have thought I was someone else. I eventually asked and she told me James got food poisoning and he was focused on starting up his other stores so she would be taking all clients instead which is completely understandable but I would have appreciated a heads up thro text or in person. I've done a hydra-facial with James and injectables with Lori and both experiences were great! James was very friendly and explained each part of the hydra-facial thoroughly. I only did it once so I'm probably not the best to talk about results since I think you need to do it more frequently but the experience was very nice and relaxing! Lori is such a wonderful injector! Clear + Brilliant laser with nurse Lori is a MUST for those who are trying to lighten/remove hyperpigmentation and freckles! Overall, I had no issues with my skin tone/texture (thanks to regular Hydrafacials with James), but decided to try Clear + Brilliant because of my hyperpigmentation. I know there's no magic serum or laser that will completely remove AND keep hyperpigmentation away for good, but Clear + Brilliant gets close! THE PROCEDURE/NURSE LORI: What I appreciated about Nurse Lori was how meticulous she was. She also did not skimp on the numbing cream and waited a generous amount of time for it to take full effect. I've been to med spas that rush this part and the procedure is still painful. With Lori, I'd say the session had moments of discomfort (it's a laser after all!) but definitely no pain. During the procedure she was very thorough and went over every bit of skin to ensure I'd get even results. THE RESULTS: After my first session I was floored. The top layer of hyperpigmentation I gained from a recent beach vacation, along with spots I had for a few years had completely dissolved. I went in for two more sessions and more layers of spots disappeared or lightened significantly (some spots had been there for over a decade!). My skin tone/texture also improved and any superficial wrinkles I had around my frown lines disappeared. I still have some stubborn spots, but they've grown so faint that I'm not even bothered by them. After my three sessions with Lori (combined with my regular Hydrafacials), I've finally unlocked that flawless "glass skin" I've been chasing for years! Thank you Lori and James! TIP! This is literally magic. I've always struggled with acne and the only thing that worked for me was Accutane which I took when I was a teenager.
