We had a great experience with Palm Construction out of West Covina, CA on our recent yard project. From start to finish the team was professional, responsive, and did excellent work. Palm Construction did an excellent job with my home bathroom, stairs and backyard. The bathroom is completely redone for mobility challenges and is now user friendly. The house has curved stairs that they remodeled and made attractive. The yard is much nicer with the new turf. It is an absolute embarrassment for the company the number of call center calls I have received on behalf of Palm Construction. They bought some contact list from Angie's List. The person they were calling for hasn't had my phone number in well over 10 years. I have had at least a dozen calls from Palm Construction alone in the last two weeks. Even if I needed a contractor, I would absolutely never use somebody that blind called me so many times. You would think no callbacks after 12 messages would have been a hint. And all the calls come from different numbers, so you can't even block them. It is the very, very worst kind of company that employees call centers to blanket thousands of people on contact lists versus relying on word-of-mouth or other non-invasive advertising. read more

First off Dylan showed up at my door and he sounded like he already got the business of my neighbors backyard which gave us some confidence that these people can be trusted, later that day two clowns who claimed to be project managers (Nick and Marco) showed up at my house only to waste my entire afternoon talking about their families, dogs kids and ended up giving me a ridiculous quote for my back yard. Their sales pitch was very predictable but felt highly pressured.They wanted us to be qualify for some kind of a program no matter how many times I told them I don't want to go with financing and id rather pay in cash. But no matter what they still wanted us to get "the deal". I was so tired of this BS and ended up sending them back. Later on that day these two clowns showed up again at 7pm at night offering a better deal.at this point I was so angry with them. Very dramatic. And now we get voice mails from them saying same BS as soon as they are done with my message we hear they talking to another client (probably imaginary person) about doing a backyard for $40k lol. Yall think I'll buy into this tactics ? Thinking that oh wow they do big construction deals? I wasn't born yesterday brother. After a few calls, they adjusted their work schedule to install the gutters the next day before the rains the following week in So Cal. It was a half day job, fast and clean. We recently used Palm Construction for 3 projects -gutter & pavers installation, exterior painting, along with siding repairs. With the first two projects - gutter and pavers installation, we were quite satisfied. The gutters were installed the next day, right after we signed the contract. The crew who installed the pavers deserved a 5-star rating. They arrived early in the morning and worked nonstop in high 90s temperatures and completed the pavers installation in less than 2 days. The crew cleaned up the working areas after they were done. They were professional and demonstrated an excellent work ethic. The overall rating I gave the company was 3, primarily due to our experience with the paint crew. If you want a high-quality painting job done in a stress-free manner, then don't use their painting services. Not only the completion date kept being pushed back, but the quality of work was subpar. The project manager promised us that the paint job would look perfect when we returned from our vacation. However, the paint job appeared far from being "perfect." There were areas showing lack of straight, clean lines(which you would expect a professional paint crew to be able to deliver); areas under the eaves totally being missed (not even one coat of paint); a big blob of dry paint on the window frame; sidings that needed to be repaired still loosely hanging or popping out; a fence that was taken down during siding installation now nowhere to be found... The crew left behind empty water bottles, nails around the property, and paint splashes on our new pavers. They damaged one of our fences when they backed their car out of our driveway and went too far, and hit the fence. One of our plants also became a victim, likely from being carelessly stepped over. We pointed out all those issues and the crew did come back several times to fix the areas of concern. As the temperature heated up to 100 degrees, the newly painted walls started showing paint bubbles. We pointed out the paint bubbles to the Quality Control team during their inspection. They agreed that those paint bubbles could become issues in the future, and they could see some bubbles already burst open. They said that usually happened when paint was applied before the walls were completely dry. The QC team was awesome and had the paint crew come back again to fix the paint bubbles. In summary, I highly recommend the company for pavers installation and for being open to customers' feedback and taking steps to improve customer satisfaction. We worked with Marco because we have been wanting to extend our driveway + add a walkway to our backyard. He not only delivered this beautifully, but he is also working with us to make our other backyard projects even more beautiful than we could imagine, all within our budget. Marco quoted the first job would take two days to complete, but the workers were able to complete our driveway extension and walkway in one day. The job is not only pretty to look at, but the quality of the job is top notch! Buckle up for these shenanigans. I needed my 500 square foot rooftop deck painted. There is some paint pealing so I wanted the deck evened out and professionally painted. I was initially hesitant to reach out to a construction company..$$$$.. for such a small task but Yelp recommended and I thought, what's the worse that could happen. Let me tell you.. These 2 knuckleheads (speaking kindly) show up to my condo and they must have thought that since I live on the west side, that I was a good mark. They did say something to that affect. We review the space, together and on their own. Then it's time to sit down and talk numbers. First they show me all of their licenses and insurance great. They are complimenting me too much, asking too many questions about my personal life. At this point I verbalize my realization that this is going to cost a lot. These knuckle heads initially quote me 15,000 dollars and at this point I just want to quickly end this experience but now they know where I live and so I need to be polite. Then they start with this act. Telling me that there is a large job happening in Topanga and that there is extra labor that is doing nothing so they could potentially use that labor on this job and that would reduce the price, potentially. So they call somebody to ask, they are going on in front of me, "I like her, I want to work with her. yada yada" . At this point I am wondering if I am literally wearing a dunce cap or Idiot sign on my forehead. After this song and dance, they come back and say that the price would be closer to 12k. Which is still 8k more than yelp estimated and 7k more than the next company quoted. So finally I say 'ok, let me get back to you. I need to talk to other companies and get more quotes.' Would you believe that these knuckleheads asked me, Why, I would want to ask other companies? At this point, I really wished my partner was there with me, because 1. I don't think they would have tried this stuff and 2. He is definitely not the One and would have literally thrown them out. But if he was there, then you guys would not have this story. I am writing all of this not only to warn others but more importantly to see if anyone else has heard this song and dance. Needless to say I did not go with them. read more
