My experience with a transmission oil cooler line repair on my Cadillac ATS was not just a case of overcharging, but a total failure of safety and professional ethics. They billed me $980, in an attempt to justify 4+ hours of unnecessary labor by claiming they had to remove the steering rack to get to the transmission oil cooler lines. This is not the procedure documented in the service manual. Additionally, they charged list price for the part, claiming they received no discount from the dealership on part purchases. After a test drive, they pulled the car back in and I witnessed the technicians attempting a "manual alignment"--one holding the steering wheel straight while the other hammered on components underneath. When I asked the manager, Mark, if I should get a professional alignment since the rack was pulled, he wouldn't even look me in the eye and simply said, "Yeah, probably, I would if I were you." Upon inspecting the car myself immediately after leaving, I found: 1. STEERING RACK BOLT: The main mounting bolt was only halfway threaded into the chassis. The steering rack was literally unbolted from the car. 2. DISCONNECTED SWAY BAR: The front driver-side sway bar link was completely disconnected and dangling behind the wheel. 3. ZIP-TIED LINES: The new $529 lines were secured with a plastic zip tie instead of the factory-provided mounting bracket and bolt. 4. DANGLING PARTS: The engine mount vacuum hose and wiring harness were left unclipped and hanging. This shop billed me for "rack removal" but failed to actually bolt the rack back to the car. Returning a vehicle with loose steering and suspension is gross negligence. I am filing a formal complaint with the Michigan Bureau of Automotive Regulation (SOS-197). I have attached photos of the loose bolts and hanging suspension for public record. Avoid this shop if you value your safety.

Got a new muffler and flex pipe (they suggested I need flex pipe even though it was not making noise since my husband patched their last job from 2016). After the repairs, van sounded fine for two days and then became louder than before the tail pipe fell off AND with a new rattle. Took it back and now they are saying I need a new "Y pipe". One time the dealership took over a month to get the car back to me, and they still had not fixed the problem. Car Fix diagnosed the problem while they were doing my brakes, and fixed it. I am utterly amazed. It was a $500 fix that the dealership could not even diagnose properly. And a funny story, I had a little sticky note on my dashboard to remind me to fill up my purse with a few candies and mints for my husband. When Car Fix gave me my car back, they had filled my cupholder with candies and mints with a little note that said "you ask and you shall receive." When the belt started squeaking again, I was told I needed to replace the alternator. I was lucky enough walk into South Street Auto Repair. They diagnosed an oil leak was causing the squeak (not the alternator LOL). Drake stayed in touch with me daily, as they walked me through different diagnostics, repairs and costs. They fixed my squeaky belt, oil leaks, manifold leak and failed ignition coil. Brian my mechanic was very cleanly working on my car and paid attention to every detail. Finally, my exhaust is quiet, my belt is not squeaking and a slight engine hesitation that has been on going is resolved. I can't say enough good about this repair facility. I would have saved a lot of time and money if they were the first shop I would have been my first repair shop!!!
