After 16 years' service, the wheels needed some attention: a little curb rash, crazing in the clear coat, etc. Bryan took care of the administration and, three days later, I picked up the car looking immaculate again. However, the new, generic TPMS sensors installed (replacing the original Audi sensors from 2008) would not maintain a lasting communication with the on-board TPMS system. Bryan sourced new Audi OE sensors and, at no extra charge, had them fitted to each of the wheels a few days later while I waited 45 minutes. I contacted you via email, as directed in the cover letter that came with my wheel where it states: "If my sales team cannot resolve your concerns to your satisfaction, please contact me personally". You NEVER responded to my email or called me back, but here you are! So, it is hard to see how customer service is a "core value". Detroit Wheel and Tire did refund the purchase price for the wheel. Big deal. Citibank would have removed the charge from my credit card with one phone call. Ed and his team hid behind their insurance company. They told me their insurance would not cover the $1,300 in damage. But here's the deal. The decision to take responsibility for this error and to reimburse me for the damage to my car is Ed's. As the owner and President of the company, Ed calls the shots. He doesn't work for the insurance company. Hiding behind the insurance company is pathetic and demonstrates that customer service and professional INTEGRITY are NOT a core value. The error originated in the processing at Detroit Wheel and Tire, where the wheel was incorrectly labeled and then shipped. This is NOT disputed. I relied on Detroit Wheel and Tire to process, label, and ship the correct wheel. They simply did not. Ed wants to hide behind insurance, or to blame the installer. The issue would not have occurred without the processing error at Detroit Wheel and Tire. Customer service and professional integrity are measured best in situations like this, where the decisions are more costly to the service provider. And in this situation, Ed and Detroit Wheel and Tire have failed. Perhaps Ed will reconsider and decide to do the right thing. I would be glad to provide that update here if it happens. I had 4 pot hole damaged 20" Infiniti rims that I also wanted refinished. Detroit wheel and tire did a great job on them. They had a minor mishap with the clear coat and instead of just passing it off as best we could do, they redid them!! To perfection! Warning!! Make sure you check their work before leaving building. I had my rim fixed twice. The second time I asked them to fix correctly by welding the inside of the rim and the outside. See photos. So I was looking to swap out rims from my BRAND NEW car. I just didn't care for the rims that came on it. After asking for recommendations this was the most recommended. I am so glad I came here. All the employees were super helpful and hooked me up with a great deal!! They have several different rims on display. They have a guest lounge to wait in while they put on new rims. They have a snack vending machine and pop machine too. The wait was a very reasonable amount of time. They have a program where you can swap out rims from your car and just pay the difference. Wheels looked great until winter and then the finish began to crack and rust began to show through at the cracks - and then the finish began to actually fall off the wheels in big flakes! Obviously a very defective product! They make you send the wheels back to be re-done and pay for the shipping yourself, this is very expensive! I had my OEM wheels powder coated gloss black because I hated the factory silver color. My rims wheels are in perfect condition prior to painting at DWT. Last year at this time, i plasti dipped them black and I took the time to polish and clean them to perfection before applying the plasti dip. DWT does a chemical clean to remove all contamination from the surface prior to powder coating. That said, I expected a more consistent finish from DWT. After closer inspection of my wheels when I got them home the inside barrel have MANY noticeable paint defects: dirt, orange peels, thin spots, chips, etc. Thank god these are my winter wheels and not my summer high performance ones that I considered repainting as well. The painting quality at DWT is sub-standard for $600 UDS. They are not the cheapest quote I received but I assumed they would have the best quality standards given this is their specialty. Seems like happy customers don't post enough positive reviews for this place. I found some negative reviews from several years ago under previous ownership, but after calling to chat about what I was looking for, I had a good feeling from their rep (Bryan) and decided to place an order. Long story short, I wanted a set of 4 OEM Audi wheels to use for my winter setup. They didn't have the rims I wanted in stock but Bryan took my info and offered to look for a set of 4 at their warehouse they could refinish for me. He ended up finding 4 refinished wheels and after getting my info, they were delivered in 2 days. I had tires mounted tonight, and the mechanic told me all 4 wheels looked straight and didn't require any more weight than usual. One had a minor finish defect on the inner surface, but being an 8.5" wide wheel, nobody would notice. The only reason I gave DWT 4 stars instead of 5 is their ordering process is a bit of a hassle, as you can't order online. They need to email you a credit card authorization form to fill out and scan/fax along with a photocopy of your credit card. I understand they don't want to get burned because of fraud, but finding a fax machine was a little tricky in 2014. Overall, a good outfit and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them in the future. I stopped in to check on some wheel repair and re-conditioning prices. Quite a few rims were on display, but they all seemed like the aftermarket big wheels that are all the craze these days. None of the ordinary rims that I might be interested in. And contrary to what their name might suggest, I didn't see any tires on display. Any of the local tire places have a better display of both rims and tires. There were quite a few people in the office area, but they must do most of their business by phone. Either that, or someone put super glue on the headsets (grin!). I'll write a follow-up if I decide to go with their estimate. read more

I purchased a reconditioned rim for my 2021 Nissan Titan, the clear coat is coming off and lots of debris from the air sprayer in the clear coat. The rim has been on my truck about 2 weeks not impressed with their poor quality and poor workmanship. warranty states I would have to pay shipping to return rim for another refinish then I would have to remount and balance at my expense and this is their fault not mine. what's the point the first time they did a bad refinish so why have them do another. I was contacted today 19th of October by an employee of this company I was told the owner approved a full refund if I remove my post and I declined. I was told originally when I purchased the rim it would take a week or so because they have to refinish the rim for my vehicle . This was a lie the rim they sent me was purchased from another vender in Indiana and was not refinished by Detroit wheel and tire. To the owner of this company the money, refund ect. Does not matter what does matter is the principle of this situation and how you and you company have mishandled this and misrepresented yourselves that is what matters to me. Nice customer service from Baraa. However, in January, I had my winter rims and tires installed there and I gave them my CLS550 Wheel Locks. I just discovered that one wheel lock is missing (May). Note: In Michigan you have Winter tires and Summer tires. I was about to switch from Winter to Summer and I discovered a missing wheel bolt. They searched the shop but could not locate it because it is 4 months since I visited there. Now I have to spend $100 on a set of new wheel locks. Q: Why did it take so long for me to discover that I was missing a wheel bolt? A: Because I trusted them to be professionals. This review is meant to inform you that Detroit Wheel and Tire is a honest shop so don't get me wrong. Like many establishments, Quality Assurance is lacking. Note to self: Never trust anyone with your car. Double check that each wheel bolt is installed because the installer IS the Weakest Link in the Chain. Quality Assurance is not something that is trained at the Weakest Link. Note to Detroit Wheel & Tire: Imagine if that rim were to fall off..... Lawsuit. Please take my advice and train your staff from the lowest paid person which is installing the rims. Torque wrench is good. Counting bolts is good. Checking that all wheel Bolts/nuts is mandatory. Update in May, 2017: OK, so I ordered a new set of Wheel Locks (Mercedes) and to my surprise, the "Lock" is the same so if you are considering a career in removing other peoples nice Mercedes rims, just invest in a set of locks and chances are that it will fit Mercedes Wheel Locks. Ha! I just discovered that the (remember, 1 lock was missing) 3 other Wheel Locks were not torqued!!! One was actually finger tight. Forensics will point to the fact that the installer, hand tightened (2 were 10 to 15 ft-lbs. Torque) but not final torqued which is approx. 95 ft-lbs. (which means that no e_'ing way it can come lose on the road). So, now, I'm dropping the 3 star to 1 because it is just upsetting to know that a torque failure is just not good. I'm not being mean, just really honest about how I feel. Imagine if you discovered that 1 out of 5 fasteners on each rim was missing or not torqued. Again, nice people, just need someone to go into the shop and remind them of what a check-list is. Perhaps in a nice manner. read more

Told Bryan I was looking for a new wheel because mine was bent. I told Bryan it has a bulge and included pictures of the wheel. He told me he'd give me $75 for it with no other explanation. I said okay I will give you guys my business than and bought a wheel. He never called me after receiving the wheel I had to call him. After calling Bryan he tells me it's not repairable and I no longer will get the $75. This place is nothing more than a scam artist. He had to know to some degree it wasn't repairable, he knew he wouldn't be able to award the $75, and only told me that so I would give him my business. Don't ever use this place. read more

Gave my VIN number and all so they would be right. One of the first things this company says is that they do not sell replica rims just look at most any of their adds. This place lied to unload out of round refurbished/painted replica rims. They not only sold me replica rims but the wrong tires, and sensors for my vehicle. Wrong weight load and speed rating. These rims are not straight. The beads are wavy and crooked. HOW CAN YOU SELL RIMS LIKE THIS TO ANY FAMILY? Tires arrived out of balance with the wrong tpms sensors even though I was assured they were the right ones. This set was supposed to have arrived ready to go. They sent me out new sensors that I now have to take more time and out of pocket expense to have something fixed that was supposed to be right the first time. I CAN NOT RECOMMEND. The following day I called them to inquire about the shipping details so I could track it online. They sold it to someone else and never even bothered to call me to tell me. Great place to get rims. My rim was beyond repair and needed a new one. Called and talk to Jerry and gave me a good deal on a new one. The place is huge and doesn't look like a garage. They also repair rims for 125 if they're repairable. They had to order my rim and got it the next day. Saved me about $50 if I got it elsewhere. Definitely recommend! read more

Very unhappy with so called 5 year replacement or repair, B.S. Warranty!! I bought new Black PVD Chrome wheels and tires for my vehicle 2 years ago ( To clarify I drove a little over 22,000 miles) and the rims began to peel. I took my vehicle up to the Troy location where I bought the wheels and had the Jake take some pictures of the damage. He said he had to get the warranty work approved . After 3 days he emailed me back an approval, then filled me in in how they would repair them. First, of course they had no rims in stock to replace the damaged ones, even offered to take different ones but no luck. They said they would repair mine, but IT WOULD TAKE 4 to 6 WEEKS! Yes, park my car at their location and wait 4 to 6 weeks! I said that I could get them done in 4-6 days by another company if they would reimburse me, but they said no. Total B.S. warranty, unless you own another car. Will never go back to them! You have been warned at the lousy craftsmanship! The wheels do not last! read more
