RCI is fine if you like having someone throw you a bone. Our vacation time is precious to us. We generally plan 6 months to a year in advance. We research where we are going and determine the best time of year, based on things to do, special events and avoiding high season costs and crowds. If you have a destination on a wish list with RCI, "if" they contact you at all with an offer(and for many prime locations--just forget it), they offer you, your requested destination anywhere from 2 weeks, to 3 months before you would be expected to arrive (not a lot of time to prep for the trip and put the rest of your life on hold). The worst part is, that it may or may not be an optimum time in that location. If you are going somewhere once--you want the location to be at its best. This last minute "bone" that RCI consistently throws, leaves you the customer with no time to get optimum pricing for transport, tickets to local events or any of the other details that would allow optimization of that vacation time and destination. I can and do get a consistently better quality vacation, and by far, a better bottom line cost to my trip WITHOUT RCI. Personally I say---Au Revoir RCI! On the other hand, if you have all the time and money in the world and love being at RCI's disposal, this organization and method of securing lodging is for you. read more

This is a very clever scheme. They offer to bank your timeshare weeks or points. Then charge a yearly fee and a usage fee and then there is a time limit in which you have to use the points. After that you pay additional fees to use your own banked points. Beyond that you would loose your points. Can you think of any other bank that works like this? read more

My father in law owns the account with RCI. Six months ago he added his son and I to the account. RCI said that he must send a death certificate for his wife in order to remove her as an owner from the account and that we would be added in her place. My husband and I called today to book a vacation. We have two weeks. First problem, we were not on the account. However we provided the account info and explained our relationship to the account holder and they allowed us to continue without issue. They informed us that to book the location we wanted, we would have to combine our weeks and pay $180 for a combination fee. We said we'd discuss and call back later. We called back deciding to go ahead and combine the two weeks. Again it was not an issue that my husband and I were not on the account. They charged us the $180, then informed us it would be an additional $300 for the exchange fee on top of the week combination fee. Tired of talking to RCI and really needing that specific location for those specific dates, we asked them to go ahead and book the 2 bedroom and gave them the card info. I supplied my email address so that I'd also receive a confirmation email. The email was never sent to me. My father's husband called us and informed us it was only for 1 bedroom, not the 2 we requested. We called RCI back to get it fixed and they refused to speak with us about the account because we were not account holders. Why is it that for the first two calls we had no issues and they were willing to take our money, but the second we tried to fix their error with a third call they would not speak with us? We tried to add the account owner to the call but the call dropped. The owner is now on the phone with them demanding that they give us the 2 bedroom we originally requested. I will be selling this time share the second that booked vacation is over. In total, we paid $400 per year for maintenance fees. Because we had to combine two weeks to get the location we wanted that's $800, plus the $180 combination fee, plus the $300 exchange fee. That's a total of $1,300 for this one location. It's not worth it. Avoid this company like the plague unless you plan on going to the same location every year. read more

This is an absolute joke!!! I've got two certificates through my membership at Legendary club but they are useless. I've deposited them on my account but no resorts (NO RESORTS) accepts them at any time of year! I've tried to chat with RCI representative and got no where. I have been a member for 25 years. I have never recommended timeshares or RCI but found a way to almost make it work for me. Over the years the fees have tripled plus in price. When I add up my maintenance fees, RCI membership and exchange fee my one week of vacation runs around $1,100. I have my week of vacation reserved for 3/27 at a timeshare in Las Vegas. Despite the fact that we are in the middle of a global Coronavirous pandemic and lives are at risk through travel, RCI is not doing anything to help me out. Zero! The will not redeposit my week or reimburse any of the $270 exchange fee that I paid to book this many months ago. You have no flexibility and no recourse should your travel be interrupted for what ever reason - even if your life and health are at risk. Our country, businesses and the travel industry is all coming together to support one another in a way that I have not seen since 9/11. RCI is the one exception where they will not do anything. I cannot wait to use up my remaining weeks and never give them by business again...ever! read more

Horrible website - slow, kicks you out and gives you no feedback that system is waiting. Tried to put two weeks (worth 16 units) on hold off of one deposit worth 19 units. First you can't do this in one session. You have to hold one week then go back to the beginning and book the second week. When I try to hold the 2nd wk it tells me I need to cancel the first hold. I called RCI and CSR, Jeff said you can't do this. When I asked why, he said it was their policy. I asked how do you book 2 wks then and he said you could confirm and then go back in again and confirm the 2nd wk but the system does not allow you to hold 2 wks. I hate when someone tells me its their policy. It tells me they are being deceptive and are hiding something. I asked Jeff to speak to his supervisor and Gordon came on the line and gave me the same speech. When I asked why he had no good reason. He told me that I have another deposit so I could use it to hold the second week. Then when I confirm the reservation, I would have to call RCI and tell them to move the second hold to my first deposit. Why would RCI make a customer jump through all these hoops and have this inconsistent policy? Because RCI does not want you to book anything and pocket the money. A completely deceptive practice and dishonest company. It is not surprising they have a huge number of 1 star ratings (49 our of 59 and now 50 our of 60). Good Luck RCI in this competitive world. If I could give minus stars I would. We recently planned our vacation to go to Scottsdale AZ for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. A resort opened up with exactly what we wanted so we booked it. Two day prior to our departure we received a call from RCI stating that our week was no longer available at this particular resort and that they did everything they could to find us a different resort to stay at. They had booked us in another resort and that this was our only option. They assured us that we would be pleasantly surprised and that we should like the new resort which was in close proximity. Not only was the new resort 45min away from our original planned destination- it was nothing close to what we wanted and something we never would have booked if had the choice. The room was a total disappointment. It was a horrible way to celebrate our 25th anniversary which was suppose to be a romantic getaway and a once in a lifetime event. I am so disappointed in RCI's customer service. When asked if we could at least have our exchange money back they were unwilling to budge. They over booked the first resort which lead to our reservation being moved and they were unwilling to accommodate or compensate us for it! Horrible costumer service!!! read more

I called to cancel my reservation since the dates fell within the quarantine period given by our national and local officials. The customer service agent answering my call appeared to be annoyed he was having to take my call at all, but said that he would credit my account for the points and the booking fee. I would have preferred my booking fee be returned to me, but would take the account credit if that's all I can get. However, my points were set to expire right after the vacation dates and I would lose not only the booking fee credit, but the use of the points also. He said he could only extend the points if I paid $109 fee to extend them. I politely explained that this action doesn't make me whole and that the fee should be waived in light of the current situation as I have no control to use my points amid the pandemic. He began to raise his voice and argue with me that I have had plenty of time to use my points before the virus happened. WHAT?! I told him the reason those points have been in my account was because I PAID for them to be there. I wasn't asking for anything extra, only to be made whole and to not be out of pocket to reschedule the vacation for a later date. He advised in a very hateful tone that this was RCI's policy. I am very disappointed in the customer service and in RCI. read more

Okay, I wanted to post this today since it just happened and its fresh in my mind. Paid for the Hard Rock Resort Punta Cana through RCI. Used like 8 points but paid like $7600 for the four is us. The rooms were nice but not a true all-inclusive. Many beaches and pools you can't use. Different menus for RCI members and not in a good way. They don't mention this at check-in or when you book it. The resort is mediocre at best. Nice landscaping and pools but that's about it. Lost water in my building this morning and 7 hours later nothing has changed. I call RCI to complain and see if there was something they could do. Figured I give it a shot. I was told by Emily if I checked you right now they may be able to get my 8 points back. I explained to her why would I eat that much of the cost and change airfare for only 8 points. Now Emily was not the sharpest tool in the drawer and seemed confused at first i explained to her two more times and I had mentioned that this vacation meant so much to us and that we had just lost both my father and father-in-law. She actually giggled and said sorry we are having a bad time. I demanded to speak to a supervisor and was left on hold for 10 mins and just hung up. Very unprofessional and disgusting human Emily was to deal with. I will eventually call and talk to a manager I just don't have it left today. I doubt it will matter if Emily is the type of trash they hire. Stay away from RCI and the Hard Rock Punta Cana....both are BIG rip offs. Many better options out there. God Bless read more

While at a golf show in February I apparently filled out a "entry form" of some kind for a vacation package that turned out to be a timeshare hustle. After they contacted me and congratulated me for being "selected" (I love that one...anyone who fills out an entry form is "selected") my wife and I figured we'd take an hour drive to Atlantic City for the experience and the "free gifts" if nothing else. I listen to salespeople everyday and I can smell a real sales pitch from BS at 500 paces. I pretty much knew this was a scam going in, but it gave us an excuse to walk the boardwalk on a nice spring day. I knew what we were in for as soon as we arrived. The parking garage was closed for repairs and the outside of the building looked very weather beaten after a very mild winter. Upon entering we were asked to fill out a form asking income and not much else. We then waited in a room filled with others, most of whom didn't appear to be in the market for a timeshare. After a few minutes after showing ID (funny that I can vote without doing that) and proving I had a valid credit card which I guarded closely, we sat down for a 2 1/2 hour high pressure sales pitch which made no mention of the cost until the last 15 minutes. During the pitch we were taken to the 2nd floor which was "under construction" allegedly for an arcade, exercise room, etc. but the gutted rooms where the construction was taking place had no signs of active contractors or tools. It looked to me like work had stopped but was told in April it would be done by "the fall". Not buying it. The outdoor pool was closed but I got a look at it from a few floors up. It was empty which you'd expect in mid-April, but it looked like it hadn't been filled in many years and obviously needed a lot of work. Of course the studio and 1 bedroom units they quickly walk you through are clean, fully stocked, and have beautiful views of the ocean. I couldn't help but notice however the other details of the building. Many things needed attention such as dirty common areas, broken elevator buttons, worn or missing cove bases on the walls, broken rest room fixtures, and multiple general maintenance issues. Finally we got down to the cost. A studio started at $21K, but sign today and you get a (pretty bogus) bonus package worth $6K and a discount to $19K. Don't forget the $1K in annual fees, the transfer costs, and the nickel and dime charges. Oh by the way, the interest rate is 17.9%, but you can pay it off at anytime "without penalty". Well, I should hope not! After I made it clear to our salesperson I do not make impulsive purchases, especially for $19K, her "Supervisor" took a few brutal minutes implying it would be foolish to pass this up. When I finally got rid of him another guy made a pitch and mentioned something about "would $8K make it more attractive". His totally annoying personality made listening to any more impossible to stomach. One more hard sale push from a final creep and we were outta there to get our free "gifts". 4 free airfare tickets...provided you book through them months in advance and stay at their resorts at the rack rate which is about triple the Expedia rate. They also included a highly restricted 3 day getaway that would be practically impossible to use and still had fees and taxes. The 3rd "gift" is a special discount book to the Atlantic City outlets, which frankly you can get for the asking at the outlet customer service desk. Some free "gifts", but that's the scam routine. It was a waste of time, but also what I expected. I feel sorry for the people who are duped by this scam and impulsively sign up for a long term 17.9% debt without doing their homework. When they won't answer questions about taxes, resale rates, foreclosure rates, financial stability, etc. you know they have untold issues. After all this and reading the reviews (which I should have read before driving to Atlantic City), I'd have to say steer clear of RCI and be very careful when they approach you. If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is. read more

I just got off the phone with someone at RCI who answered the phone number that is listed on their website. He was not helpful, rude and refused to let me speak to anyone else to help me finalize my vacation details. This vacation was underneath my moms account and her and I were finalizing a trip together. He refused to help at all, he claimed it was because I was not a member. I asked him to get me to someone so that I could become a member. He refused. He told me I could not become a member. His name was Claire he claimed his employee ID was and he was a vacation guide. He did not help at all. I hope that the call center is aware that this gentlmean is either representing the company poorly or that their is inadeqyuate training taking place on RCI properties. I had previous experiences with RCI trips with my grandparents that were "okay" but after this experience I will NEVER become a member with them and my mom is cancelling her membership (which is long overdue). They have stolen money from her in "fees" for way to long.. Considering, the timeshare business is not going so well, I would think a company would want to be well aware that a potential customer asks to be transferred to someone who could sell her a vacation, he would jump on the opportunity. read more

Don't ever book a car rental with RCI. Could have saved a lot of money booking myself direct with AVIS or through the Southwest Airline site. I booked 3 different rentals over a 2 1/2 week time span in Hawaii. Everyone I booked said the discount would be taken at check in but they make you pay when you book the reservation. You get to the counter and they can't find anything about any discount, even with the codes. So you wind up paying more with no discount. I argued at every check in but since it was prepaid and they can't find any codes you are stuck and RCI wouldn't do anything either. Biggest rip off ever and I have rented many cars all over. First and LAST time with RCI. Do it yourself and you will save more. read more

As an owner through Bahia Principe / RCI I expect some customer service from either. Biggest offender is RCI, they will not reply to enquiries, live chat is useless as the person on the other end can't answer questions. For weeks now I have been asking the same question and finally the other day I get this call but who is it from RCI that is calling but yet another salesman trying to sell me more of what I have. So when I say no he put me on hold and another person come on and offers me yet more then what the first guy did but when I explain to him that RCI will not get another RED US penny out of me until I get answers he suggest he can transfer me to someone who can. Do ya see where this going. Sure I agree and yet again I get someone else that can't answer questions, O ya better yet he's not in the department that could answer questions. So I have now turned to social media, yep and facebook and anything else I can find. I love making noise so I hope RCI IS READY FOR IT. I am currently a member with RCI, and am very disappointed with them. I put a vacation on hold today because I needed to confirm with my daughter the time would work for her. She was pretty sure it would, but wasn't 100% sure. The hold on the vacation is only good through the next day, so I asked via a Live Chat, how long I had to cancel a vacation without loosing my points or exchange fee after it was confirmed. I was told only 24 hours. I stated, that when I read the cancellation rules before I put the vacation on hold, it said I had until 4 months prior to the vacation date without loosing my points, but it didn't say anything about the exchange fee. The rep on the live chat told me, I would have to purchase the 'points insurance' not to loose my points. All of it is completely unacceptable! I pay enough in the annual fees. I understand needing to cancel before a certain date without penalty, but 24 hours is ridiculous! They have made enough money off of me with the annual fees I've already paid. Very bad membership service. Not impressed at all!! I would advise anyone not to become an RCI member. read more

John was being very sarcastic and seemed irritated by the questions I would ask him so as to get better knowledge of why my search wouldn't bring up any results. RCI is a total rip off! We basically burned the $9000.00 they got out of us. We literally have nothing to show for it but a bill for maintenance. Everything they promised us was untrue. The day we left Sedona Pines, where we got robbed, they stopped taking our calls. Even the 5 free cruises they threw in as a bonus for payment in full, turned out to cost more than booking a cruise ourselves. I was unable to ever get a satisfactory login to the RCI site and after a year we have written it off as a total loss. Would give 0 stars if possible. Have been a longtime RCI member and it has gone to absolute worst in the past several years. The most recent example is that on September 1, 2015, I booked a two week stay at the end of summer 2016 at a resort that I have stayed at many times through RCI. Now, almost 10 months later, RCI calls and says sorry, but the first week is not available due to an inventory error. This inventory was available when I booked it. They had already cancelled this week out of my reservation before they notified me (and they did it via a phone call and not in writing). A week ago I had checked, and all was good for the two week vacation. Now the only offer they have is to make another reservation somewhere else and at another time. This first week just vanished. This just ruined my summer vacation as the first week (last week of August) was the main week we were counting on. read more
