Antler Log Cabins Vacation Rentals - The dining room at the Angler's Cabin!

My husband and I just recently visited the Antler Log Cabins to celebrate his birthday. We've had…read morea lot of changes in our lives recently and have realized that getting away from the daily grind and stepping out into nature is truly healing for the both of us. If serenity, peace and nature are what you seek, this is a good place to start. We arrived near dusk and while the directions to the address were clear and straightforward, once you arrive at the property, it isn't extremely clear where each of the cabins are located. One sign said "Anglers Serenity something" and I recognized that Anglers was the name of our cabin, but I didn't know the names of the other cabins, so it was a bit confusing. I saw the "road" (and I use that term loosely) leading down towards a wooded area and I became afraid. It was steep and narrow and my Lincoln MKZ is not exactly what one would consider and all-terrain vehicle, so I told my husband to take the wheel (along with Jesus)! In my opinion, that road is dangerous and if there were ice or snow present, I might have decided to abort mission. While booking, I did note that one location mentioned that you had to have 4-wheel drive for that particular cabin, but not the Anglers where we were staying. After making it to our cabin safely, we decided that we wouldn't be leaving until sun-up the next day, so we got settled in. The cabin was lovely and cozy and clean (for the most part). I did notice a few cobwebs on the multitude of antlers and when I unrolled one of the towels left in the basket by the fireplace (meant to be used while utilizing the hot tub) there were long, straight, light-colored hairs entangled in them. My hair is short, curly and dark and my husband has a very low haircut. The only other complaint that we had was that the window over the kitchen sink had no window covering. I could not help but to feel like someone was standing there peering at us from the darkness each night. The highlight of our stay was definitely the hot tub. I don't know about you, but I've always wanted to soak in an outdoor hot tub on a chilly Autumn or Winter day. I can finally tick that off of my bucket list! The hot tub was set to a delightful 102 degrees Fahrenheit and that was perfect for the 40 degree weather. When we first stepped in, it felt too hot, but once fully submerged it proved to be perfect! We will definitely return once it is warmer so that we can go fishing in the pond and use the paddle boat! This place is ideal for people who want tranquility, but don't like being "out in the boonies"! We popped into a Target location just about 12 minutes away for provisions and there were lots of options for food located in nearby Bloomington.

The ease in renting and getting access was extremely easy. When we stayed here we also made reservations to rent a boat with Fourwinds Marina on Lake Monroe. The 21 mile drive from the cabin to the marina takes only 37 minutes. Add this to their list of options of things to do and see in the Bloomington area. I grilled steaks outside on their grill while she cooked the rest of the meal in the kitchen. We had a great meal, because the owners had prepped us very well. They tell you exactly everything you need to bring and what they already provide. There were no last minute stops or hunting down a grocery. As you can see from their photos, their cabin is beautiful. I'm sure all the others are just as nice. We will definitely be returning in the very near future.

The place is amazing- a restored house (or maybe corner store?) fitted out with amazing rooms, done in just the right mix of period and contemporary styles. There's a common sitting room with TV, which we used on the first night when we had the place to ourselves. The dining room is big enough for a big family, and there's a full kitchen which you can use for anything. We just had coffee and heated up leftovers, but it is fully equipped. So, this isn't exactly a B+B- it's BYO Breakfast or whatever- but that works for us. We don't get up for anything at 7am, even breakfast, so a typical B+B can be a waste. This way, you do things on your own schedule. The room was perfect. Comfy bed (though I don't think I would get a pillowtop myself- too poofy.) Dresser, etc., bath with separate shower and tub, everything we needed, done better than our own bed and bath. Free wifi and cable, little touches like good caramels; really, I can't think of anything missing or not up to par. Parking on a quiet side street or in a couple of spaces behind the house. The owner was very friendly, and unobtrusive. She lives nearby, and Brookville is a nice small town. A decent mix of restaurants and shops (lots of places are closed on Sunday though.) Outside, there's a bit of a smell from the Owens Corning factory down the hill, but it wasn't noticeable inside. There's a big lake nearby and a few other attractions. We went ziplining five minutes away. I heard they just did the renovation a year ago, and it is beautiful. Prices are reasonable for what you get- I think $85-120, depending on the room and the day of the week. Wish we could have stayed a week, it was so relaxing. We'll be back someday.

The venue was a great value compared to all the other places we had considered. Plenty of space for the reception. We held the ceremony outside behind cabin 1 (Red Log Cabin). We rented six cabins for the week. Our wedding procession consisted of nearly a dozen vehicles rolling into the park immediately after the ceremony. The staff was nothing short of phenomenal. They went above and beyond in every possible way shape or form and stopped at nothing to make everything run smoothly and as easily as possible. They truly seemed as excited to have us as we were to be there for our big day. We were scheduled to leave on Thursday the 6th but Wednesday night all of our family was having such a great time, nobody wanted to leave. While not all the cabins we had been in were available to extend, they shuffled us around and got everyone accommodated and we ended up staying until Saturday. We'd originally been considering a Downtown Indy spot which would have run us well over $60,000 to host 100 people for 5 hours. We ended up with a much more fun, exciting, safer and friendlier place for less than a third. We decided to make it an annual event and have our families get together every Independence Day week. Check out Off The Trail for any weekend staycation or holiday getaway. You'll be nothing short of overwhelmed at the great time you'll have and the incredible value. We're going back in August and looking at possibility a Thanksgiving or Christmas getaway as well. Our deepest heartfelt thanks to everyone at Off The Trail for making our wedding day truly epoch. This level of excellent customer service is so rare anymore.

We got a "premium spot" for our RV paying a lot more per night than the regular pull through sites. The site was larger than the regular sites but had no gravel parking spot and no picnic bench. Also it only had a tire rim as a burn pit. The other "non premium" sites have gravel, a picnic bench and a nice fire pit with cooking grates. It's currently pouring and when we step outside the RV we are in mud and puddles. We expressed our concerns with the office and were told that the sites were not finished. Which is fine but why with an unfinished site were we scammed with higher prices? My other issue is when you check in they make you wear a wrist band for your entire stay (for everyone). To camp, you have to wear a wrist band for your entire stay or they won't let you back into your camp. I've never stayed at a place that required that. It's ridiculous.

We have windows that have completely rotted out, we cannot open windows in two of our rooms. We made Progress aware of this in February, they sent someone out to assess the situation. He said we needed all new windows. That week we could not keep our bedroom above 60 degrees with the poor insulation from the rotted windows. We had to sleep in our living room with our six week old daughter and nothing was done by Progress. We needed new floors due to moisture leaking from the rotted windows, mold was found and we were left without our master bedroom or master bathroom for six weeks. There's a massive rodent infestation they refuse to remedy. It is now July and our windows are still broken. In April the air conditioner broke and instead of replacing the whole unit, like the specialist recommended, they only wanted to pay for the parts. The parts were on back order. We were left without working central air for over five weeks. My husband had to go to the Indianapolis office to try to talk someone. When he got there they refused to speak with him. We were just trying to get our house below 84 degrees as it is not safe for an infant to sleep in that heat. During all of this we have reached out to Progress MULTIPLE times with no avail. It is extremely disheartening to see the shear lack of empathy or concern from this company, especially when an infant is involved. Steer clear of this company they are nothing but a hassle.

Each loft features a cozy & comfortable king-sized bed, kitchen, dining area, spacious living room, a washer/dryer, and full-size bathroom. You can rent by the night or long term. The living room was one of my favorite spots, with super cozy couches, pillows, a blanket, armchair, games, books to read, and a nice sized smart TV. The stocked kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook a meal or just have something simple. A Keurig and K-cups are provided. The candy dish in the kitchen was a nice, sweet touch. Cleaning supplies & disinfectants were made available in the loft as well. You enter the suites through the front of the building and stairs are used to access them. A backdoor with stairs that lead to the parking lot in the back of the building is available as well if need. A laundry closet features and washer and dryer, laundry basket, and other laundry accessories. The front windows look out unto Route 40, adding lots of natural lights and a quiet view. My stay was quiet and comfortable. It was a perfect little getaway. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Suggestions for cinnamon rolls at King's Cafe (walking distance) and visiting the surrounding shops were appreciated (and delicious).
