I have been a customer of RCM's for about 12 years. When I recently needed to replace my furnace and AC I had them bid on the job. Ultimately I obtained multiple bids from local competitors and some were less expensive. However, those firms were not very responsive to my follow up questions -some not at all which is puzzling given that they spent an hour assessing the job only to essentially disappear afterwards (wasting their time and mine). I compared this service to Bill of RCM who was very responsive and even spent an additional 1.5 hours with me on a follow up visit to go over ductwork changes and other modifications that would improve the cooling of my home. After weighing this along with the excellent service I have received during the past 12 years, I chose RCM to replace my furnace and AC. The job was fairly major including ductwork changes to correct airflow issues from the original install 17 years prior which resulted in poor cooling. After starting the job, Bill's installer Jeff came up with a better solution to improve airflow and even though it would require more time, Bill approved the change at no charge because he wanted to do whatever was needed to improve my poor cooling situation. This resulted in the job taking nearly 14 hours for Bill's team: Jeff - who was here for the entire install and did meticulous work; Randy - who had to modify a tricky AC install due to the location of the unit; and Ed - who modified much of the added sheet metal work. Bill also spent a great deal of time assisting his crew by installing the humidifier and performing other tasks to ensure that we would not go a night without AC (it was a hot humid day). The job was completed at approximately 930 pm. The house was cool by 11pm. Prior to the install, my AC would struggle to keep the house at 78 degrees on a typical Chicago summer day. Now we can run it at 74 degrees and the unit actually cycles on and off as opposed to running for 10 hours without shutting off. While I tend to be a loyal person, it still makes sense to obtain multiple bids for such a costly job which I did. I ultimately chose RCM because of the service I received over the years, one of which was an emergency call on a frigid day and Randy was out within a couple of hours and restored my heat. The level of service I received with the install reinforced my decision to remain with RCM. As for the price, the change that Bill approved to improve airflow added a lot of time to the install. I am convinced that none of the other companies would have been willing to absorb the additional work at no charge. Bill of RCM did it because he wanted to ensure I was satisfied with the new system which I am. So, ultimately RCM won out on service and price. I highly recommend RCM! read more

Anyone who doesn't use this company is CRAZY! We had a pool heater issue and our own pool person, H2O pool service, who we have had for 10 years, would not respond to our calls. First of all, when I called the place of business, Joe would answer the phone, what a concept....someone answering a phone, not a machine! He was very honest with us, put us on a list, and told us about 2 weeks. It took exactly 2 weeks! During that 2 weeks, I did call a few times, to make sure I was still on that list, Joe ALWAYS treated me kindly and kept me updated on my day of service. When my day came, I was given Randy S. He was fantastic! It did take him awhile, but he did not quit. He also did not stick me with the most expensive option. He tried the lesser option first. The day he was here, July 2, he did not have the correct part that he wanted to try. He arrived back at the end of his very long day,I think around 7 pm or after, on July 3 to try a part he thought might do the trick. He wanted to make sure we were good for the 4th of July!!! It worked and our heater has been working since! I have had pools for 30 years. I have had many services for 30 years. I was so thrilled when I found this service in the phone book and saw they worked on pool heaters. I thought I might have better luck than with a pool company .....and I sure did! If I wasn't moving out of the area I would switch to their air conditioning service also. I could not have been more pleased. Do yourself a favor and call them! read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. My son called RCM just after Christmas as the furnace went out and temp was cold. RCM did come out . Their young and inexperienced tech diagnosed the issue as a gas value. After replacing the valve $545 plus a trip charge of $120 to be expected furnace was not fixed. Call them back out and request to speak to the owner Chris. They did come back out this time said the inducer motor was burnt up. Skeptical we called Lincoln way heating and cooling . Shout out to them . Not only did the get the furnace running , they showed us that that gas valve was Not bad and the inducer motor was NOT burnt up , needed cleaning. Since Chris the owner never bothered to call me to discuss the repair or lack there of I called her again. Mentioned I was $665 in and did not have a running system. I mentioned that the diagnosis was wrong . Seeking some type of credit she offered to put the old gas valve back in. Your kidding me. right? We will chalk this up as a total loss but if i can get this message out to others not to not use RCM heating and cooling nd prevent others from being ripped off then I have done my JOB. I moved to the area almost four years ago and had RCM originally come out when my furnace wasn't working too good one year, and since then for regular maintenance on my furnace and air conditioner. In each case Randy came out, kept me well informed of what he was doing, shared a number of tips with me so I can be better educated from a consumer perspective, and did an overall outstanding job. I also appreciate that they have kept every appointment, showed up on time or a little early, and in the case of my furnace needing work in winter that one year, Randy came out the next evening after I called and got me back to a fully functioning furnace. When I first moved into my townhouse almost 18 years ago, I wound up going through two different companies before I found RCM via a recommendation from a friend. Best move ever. They have been super responsive to my calls, done excellent maintenance work, installed a whole new HVAC system for me, etc. So I have a lot of experience with this company. I contacted RCM early this morning due to my sump pumps, yes, pumps both going out. We had 6" of water in the basement. Both the heater and water heater also went out due to the water. I received a call back quickly and Jeff arrived a little later to assess the situation. Jeff was very clear and detailed in his explanations to me on what needed to be done. Jeff stayed with the project and was able to get the furnace temporarily running and replaced both sumps. We are waiting on the additional work to take place and I'll update after that. So far, RCM is outstanding to work with. Being new to the area we were weary on calling any company and we are really glad we called this one. read more

I found this company last year when the air conditioning at our rental unit was not working. Jeremy won us over with his integrity when he showed us why the air conditioner was not working- someone ( and we STRONGLY suspect the other funace repair company who were trying to milk us to replace our furnace) discconnected the wiring from the air conditioner to the furnace. Today, Jeremy was conducting routine service and inspection on the furnace. He found a problem, repaired it at a reasonable rate and we are better off again for hiring him. As always, one of the coldest days of the year and the heat goes out. Called RCM early in the morning and they were able to make me an appointment for two hours later. Was called a little later and was asked if I would mind if they came earlier. I was waiting to go into work until the situation was resolved so of course this was okay with me. Jeff was sent to diagnose our furnace. He promptly got to work. He was able to determine the issue and describe it to me in detail. Randy from RCM serviced my condenser that I was told needed to be replaced by another heating and air company. Not only did he find the issue with it which was the direct result of the other companies service call, but took the time to make sure everything with the system was right. Randy is a troubleshooter and not a parts changer. System is running perfect and my home is a comfortable 72 degrees. If you have heating and air issues I recommend using RCM for sure. I came home late from vacation to a cold house and non-working furnace. I called early the next day and they sent someone within hours. He did a quick fix. However, I had the misfortune of a separate issue happening with the furnace about 12 hours later. I called, left a message, and the owner (I assume) called me back a half hour later and sent the same technician. And he came again, at 1 a.m., to fix it!
