I really enjoy Sarah as a chiropractor and a person, in general. I have pretty crazy stress levels, which means that my back is consistently out of whack. I have gone regularly to a chiro since high school (I was a gymnast and am a martial artist. It's pretty much required to keep my back and body moving properly at this point.). I had a period of 8 months where there were so many things happening that I was in near constant pain. I found Sarah off of a community page where she was highly recommended and I am so glad I did. Okay, full disclosure, I know my way around doctor's offices. As someone with chronic pain and other conditions that require monthly management, I find myself going in and out of offices about as frequently as one might go to a favorite bar. However, my experiences have ranged from decent to downright awful. After I had spent a brief period of time working a retail job that put a lot of strain on my body, I sought out a chiropractor first thing once I started a new position that had excellent insurance. I chose RE: Chiropractic + Wellness primarily for its convenient location (a short bus ride away from where I live) and secondly for its glowing reviews. I didn't know what to expect from a chiropractic office... I imagine the same sterile, impersonal environment I had come accustomed to from my years of experience seeing doctors at Stroger Hospital. Let me tell you... I was dead wrong. I walked into the office and was met with a type of zen wonderland. The walls are painted soothing colors and the waiting room is filled with greenery and wood accents. The space in gentle and serene. I have been seeing Dr. Sara for adjustments since April. She knows her stuff and clearly cares about the work that she does and the people she serves. The practice space is intentionally kind and that, I think, is a direct reflection of Dr. Sara's temperament. When I came in 7 months ago I had a constant pain radiating throughout my spine. I often felt so much pain that I could barely sit up straight and hold my head up, and I had to contort my fingers in a strange fashion to keep them from getting stiff and locking. Dr. Sara explained everything thoroughly during our first visit (and every visit since!) She explained my insurance to me and took an x-ray of my spine and gave a clear side by side examples so that I would fully understand. She gave me my first adjustment and we talked casually. It felt like I just made a new friend who just happened to have an incredible gift. Since seeing Dr. Sara for regular adjustments (at least once a month but often more) I've had significantly less pain. I can sit up straighter, sleep better, and start to focus my attention on working on the health goals that chronic pain kept me from addressing. Dr. Sara is a phenomenal person and a first-class professional. She will work with you, listen to you, and treat you as a whole person instead of a medical chart. I found out about Dr. Sarah through another chiropractor I know who no longer practices. So, when a chiro recommends another chiro -- you're probably on the right path. About a month or so ago, I woke up in the middle of the night with my whole neck having horrible spasms, my neck/shoulders just completely locked (muscles just locked up tight), and some pain even radiating into my arm. This was new pain and much worse than my normal, general, back pain (I have s-shaped scoliosis). The pain was so bad I almost went to the ER. So, per the recommendation I received, I reached out to Sarah. Thankfully, she got right back to me, and she scheduled me immediately. I was apprehensive going because I had been stupidly neglecting my scoliosis for so many years. Secondly, I was just in so much pain -- I was scared that the treatment itself would just really hurt or maybe make it worse. I was wrong, and Sarah couldn't be more wonderful! Sarah took a lot of time to first understand my history and then the pain I was currently experiencing. She walked me through the treatment and sensing my anxiety really stayed so calm and reassuring. With just one treatment I started to feel quite a bit better. Now, I'm a month and half later and not only is my neck unlocked and pain free, but I have way more mobility then I've ever had! I no longer have the pain in my shoulders or in my arms either. I think the coolest thing for me is not just feeling better but seeing results in my body that are way better than before all this extra pain started. My lower back hurts less often or for shorter amounts of time. There are true moments without any pain at all (and for someone with significant s-shaped curves -- that's remarkable). I'm just so grateful that I went to Sarah. She's very smart, thoughtful, realistic, an excellent communicator, and she lets you know where you're at in your progress as well as where she thinks there's still room to improve. Five star doesn't begin to explain. I met Dr. Sarah nearly a decade ago when she introduced me to chiropractic care. I had constant pressure headaches, ongoing back pain and lower back issues that were becoming critical. I've been seeing Dr. Sarah for about four months and have to say that she is a phenomenal chiropractor. For years, possibly even decades, I have had an aching pain in my sacrum that was almost constant. Wonderful experience with Dr. Sarah. I injured my low back while moving the grocery last Sunday. It was painful to move, bend and get up. Plus I will be traveling outside of country ver soon. Having a painful low back is the last thing I want while traveling. I found Sarah using Yelp. Because she has good reviews and her office opens early and is near by, I decided to give Sarah a try. The whole process was so efficient that I never had before. I texted Sarah and asked for an appointment. She texted me back with two time slot options. Once confirmed, she sent me a link to fill out an application on line for new patients. It took me 10 minutes to fill out the form and 7 minutes to get to her place. Sarah reviewed my application using her iPad then took some pictures of my posture using her iPhone. Using an app, she showed me when alignment was needed. She also used two scales to determine whether my body was out balance. After all the evaluation, she did some manipulation to my spine and neck. Believe it or not, that's pretty much what she did. Immediately after the treatment, I could feel the stiffness of my bank was gone and was able to move around still with some pain. As of today (7 days later), I am glad to report, I am 95% of where I was before the injury. I can move around, bend over and get up without feeling pain. I am sure I will be feeling 100% soon. She told me she was completely booked but that she would be happy to see me at the end of her workday at 1:30. Three cheers for Dr. G! Or Sarah as her patients call her. I have been a patient at RE: Chiropractic + Wellness for nearly 2 years. I have gone to other practitioners in the past initiated by a back injury and they were fine. Getting adjusted and laying on the roller table, then some time on the Tens machine were all standard items in an appointment but they felt rather passive. I didn't feel like I was part of the healing, rather they did the bodywork and scheduled my next appointment. Repeat. Dr. G is different. From a healthcare perspective it's better than any Dr. I've even been to. I can book appointments via text and Dr. G responds personally. She also checks in with you to see how you're doing. And not in a formal Dr. way; more like how a friend checks in on you. Each appointment starts with a conversation. No computer or checklist; Just two people connecting and she really wants to know what's going on in your life, not just with your back. This is how healing starts. She listens to you like you should be listening to your body. The adjustment is gentle and effective. I've been adjusted by other practitioners who had a more aggressive touch, which left me with discomfort from the adjustment, despite my back being in a better position. Since seeing Dr. G I've been more active, even returning to century bike rides and higher intensity training. She's an athlete's best friend. In fact, it's not uncommon to run into your sports friends in her office on a Saturday morning after a long run or bike ride. Pet friendly and price friendly, Dr. G takes a variety of insurance plans and payment info is kept on file so you don't have to swipe your card on co-pays each time, making the time in her office all about your care vs. paperwork. Sarah is a gem. She is always down to listen to what you have to say and is wholly invested in your patient care. She's a great listener and has a lot of great advice to help you in your day to day and will send you home with exercises to strengthen what you need.
