This was my second time here. The food remains really good. I had the chicken martini, it was very flavorful and filling. We tried various appetizers, the calamari was great, the tuna tartare was a bit underwhelming since it lack flavor. I'm taking off one star because with these prices the service could have been more attentive to the entire party. When you are charging such high prices the service needs to be not just good but great, this should apply to the entire table. read more

We went to Tony's at the J house which is a bar/ restaurant located in the J house Boutique hotel. The happy hour menu was extensive with a lot of choices. We opted to sit at the Bar and Paula was our mixologist. I started off with the old fashion, then I tried the chocolate martini and I finished with one of their speciality cocktails (miss blanco). Paula was awesome she knew how to make a drink to perfection and was also very friendly. I also ordered the Tony's big boy burger and a Connecticut lobster roll. The burger was excellent. It was also $42 but it did not disappoint. Everything that went into the burger was quality - lettuce, tomato, bacon - the bacon was excellent. Wasabi mayo a great touch. Fries were meh, but def not the focus. Meat was cooked perfectly. The fried burrata was also a solid choice, but I'd probably go with something else next time as it's a small app. Overall, I'd go back and recommend. Had a lovely Valentines Day with my girlfriends here. The staff is attentive and friendly they make sure you have a great experience. The ambiance is gorgeous! The outdoor patio and inside are equally elegant Our steak and short rib were 10/10 the main courses will blow you away. They give a nice portion we all had leftovers which was nice. I wasn't a fan of the lobster bisque not much flavor and I think I would skip on the dessert next time my lava cake was cold and a little hard. I will definitely be back for dinner and drinks! Very nice place for any occasion. Went for brunch on a sat. When you arrive you can have your car valet. Upon entering you are met with a very cute decor that pulls you to your inner child such as a superman bust but keeps you in adult hood with the fire place. We were seated immediately in the garden. We started off with drinks and they hit. We started off with a lychee martini, sangria and a lemon drop. We then did appetizers (mushroom flatbread, manhatten roll and a ceasar salad) and bread. This was our first time here. We came here for a double date. Drinks were great , started with the spicy margaritas. They had a really nice bar which set the ambience to start. We had some oysters and colossal shrimp with some tuna tartare. The main entrées included, a rack of lamb, chicken scarpiello, filet mignon and tuna. We opted for broccoli rabe, asparagus and lobster mac and cheese as sides. Lobster Mac was good, broccoli rabe was bitter. Overall entrées were good, but I think for the prices they were charging they could've been a little bit better. My chicken scarpiello was delicious. I just wish it didn't come with those potato chips. I would've preferred either actual real potatoes or pasta. The lamb chops were okay, they lacked flavor. My husband and I had a fabulous Romance package at the hotel and we were looking forward to dining here again. Unfortunately, their once stellar (best I ever had) Caesar Salad is totally different than it was a year ago. I think there is a new chef in the kitchen. The dressing was flavorless and their Parmesan crisp was very thick, chewy and didn't taste at all like Parmesan. It was awful and I barely finished 1/4 of it. Please bring back the old chef or at least show the new one how to make the traditional Caesar salad that you used to offer. We also had sushi which was good as were the drinks. Our server, Robert, wasn't very attentive and was very apathetic when we asked questions about the salad. Deymar and Mario were awesome though! Restauranteur Tony Capasso set up his amazing restaurant here inside the J House, a classy, modern converted motor inn wedged between Greenwich and Stamford just off I-95. Just drive up to the door and let the valets handle your vehicle. I have my cousin-in-law to thank for finding this great spot and inviting us for her sister's birthday celebration! For this private party, she reserved the "boardroom" adjacent to the wine vault for this catered dinner. It was also next door to the larger event space, where a wedding was also taking place and you could here the DJ music whenever their doors opened, but wasn't intrusive. But they finished even before we did because we had a later reservation. We had a dedicated server in Savorino who was taking care of us all night, recommending wines and serving the multi-course dinner. Our special menu started off with a large Lump Crab Cake and a Shrimp Wellington, both made extremely well and served tableside, French-style. These were followed by Tony's Mixed Greens Salad, immediately served after being properly dressed in a Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette. For the main course, we had a choice of a Fillet Mignon with Glazed Carrots & Fingerling Potatoes (& steak sauce on the side), Grilled Salmon with Leek Sauce & Parsnip Purée and a Breaded Veal Valdostana stuffed with Prosciutto & Mozzarella accompanied by Fingerling Potatoes and a Porcini Brandy Cream Sauce. I got to taste them all and all were awesome! Some are on the regular menu in the restaurant, but most were created by Chef Denis Radovic for this special menu. Of course the coup de grace was the dessert with a choice of Chocolate Mousse Cake, Tiramisu or a Nutella Stuffed French Toast with Hazelnut Ice Cream. I had the french toast, which was overpowered by the heavy duty flavored Nutella. Maybe I should have gone with the Tiramisu instead or settled for just the hazelnut ice cream. Tony is the MAN! He stopped by our party and stole the show! We thought he came in to do his rounds as maitre'd but then he starts his audition for Jeopardy! It was super cool when he started rapid firing his trivia questions and if you didn't know the answer, he whipped out clues out of nowhere. I've had brunch, dinner and an event that was catered by Tony's and the food here is PHENOMENAL!!!! What really makes Tony's stand out is the decor and the staff. The staff, at least the ones I've encountered, are truly one of a kind. Even when they are busy, they ensure all customers are taken care of and no one is over looked. The drinks are also great and my favorite is the Fuego. As for the clientele the restaurant attracts, I was surprised that it was as diverse as it was. Keep in mind you're in Greenwich, CT, so the likelihood of being in a heterogenous group is unlikely. However, while it certainly could be more diverse (meaning age, race, ethnicity, etc.), they are fairing better than most other restaurants in the town! read more

I came here with some friends for lunch. While it was my first time, my friends had all been a number of times before, and I'd always heard great things from them. I am always nervous of restaurants inside hotels, but this was a great experience. The atmosphere was comfortable and the staff friendly and attentive. Tony's at the J House is very easy to find, parking is super easy. Make sure you have a reservation. We sat in the outdoor space or "garden room" - decor and atmosphere are really nice and happening. Everyone was dressed really nicely. The appetizers were ok - tuna tartare, octopus, truffle fries were average and nothing special. The rib dumplings had a good sauce but the meat had texture of a liver pâté - it was almost inedible. Drinks were mostly good but they made a few mistakes. Main courses were not anything better than I could cook at home. Rigatoni seemed like it was ShopRite box pasta, pork chop was cooked well, not really seasoned much, and it was below average. Gnocchi was inedible and sent back - the waiter agreed that it was flavorless and had poor texture. He mentioned in passing that the chef is mean? The seafood fettuccine presented nicely but had almost a sugary or sweet flavor that was a bit off-putting. They hav a dessert menu but Gelato Chocholato is right down the road and destroys J House dessert 8'days a week. I probably wouldn't return here unless it was a free work event. I don't recommend this restaurant unless you are single having a few drinks at the bar to chit chat and mingle. read more

A friend recommended Tony's at the J House for a Sunday night dinner. We made a reservation (even tho it wasn't needed) and were promptly seated at 6:30pm. They have a large indoor dining room and bar as well as an outdoor patio and outdoor bar. The restaurant itself connects to the J house (hotel) and has a small parking lot with valet parking. The outdoor patio was adorable! The lightening and decor definitely made it an experience! They had an extensive wine list and served two plates of fluffy bread with sauce to start. We ordered oysters (east and west coast combo) and the short rib arancini for apps. Most apps ranged between $10-20. Slight mishap during apps as there was a hair in one of the oysters. The wait staff quickly replaced the oyster and apologized. For entrees, a few of us ordered the T bone steak ($50) with a lobster tail added ($10-$15). All steaks were cooked perfectly to everyone's liking. I had the branzino special ($36) which was filleted table-side. It came with a lemon wine gravy on the side which was delicious. I also shared a side of broccoli ($12) with a friend! Highly recommend the broccoli!! Portion size were average size and it's pricey but the quality of the food and the environment was phenomenal. For dessert we all had coffee/tea, a molten lava cake and a slice of cheesecake! Most desserts were $10-20 and worth it. The table next to us had a birthday and they lit a sparkler in their dessert! Chris was our waiter and was great! He was super attentive and answered all of our questions. Along with the other staff, they were constantly refilling our wine and water glasses! All around great service! I will definitely be returning to Tony's. It's the perfect place to bring someone you're trying to impress, whether that's the in-laws or on a date! We were looking forward to the unique, 'spa inspired menu', so we were initially disappointed to hear that The J House Restaurant has been replaced with Tony's at The J House. The first thing we noticed of Tony's, is the esthetics has been changed to a less colorful, less artsy atmosphere and moved towards a more commonplace type motif. To add to the disappointment, I think my expectations with culinary customer service was still on a high from previous J House visits. But I forcefully brought those expectations down a notch to avoid being annoyed with our sever for the evening and instead focused on the positives. (An all encompassing -1 star on these points.) Fast Forward to the food. Appetizers were great, but the remaining 4 stars go to the entrées. My Chilean Sea Bass was fantastic. Tony's certainly made up for a less than stellar experience I recently had at another establishment. The decent sized, thick portion I was served was cooked perfectly. Plus the accompaniment of meaty Porcini's and Parsnip and Leek purées pushed the envelope. This dish was a winner that quickly removed all doubts. The other entrée, including seared asparagus, from what I tasted was seasoned and prepared as a quality aged T-Bone steak should. Another perfect dish. ​My first time in this place, I always drive by it and read the rave reviews. Figured let me stop by and enjoy a good meal and support my local business. It was completely packed on a Tuesday night; that's always good! So I'm going to start with the ambiance, beautiful decor, great stocked bar, and plenty of food choices. Tony Capasso was a true gentleman! He went around every table the whole night and made sure everyone was ok. It reminded me of when a dining experience was just that, a great experience, taking me back to my old NYC stomping grounds and neighborhood restaurants. Here's the bad. You can't control the people that are seated next to you. Have to go on record, older white couple. The place is dimly lit, so I took out my phone to view the menu. About 3 minutes into viewing, the lady goes and says, "can you turn down the brightness on your phone? The glare is bothering my eyes." I bit my tongue and remembered the mantra "respect your elders..." I respond, "Well, it's awfully dark here, and we're making sure that we're not pointing it in your direction." So we continue looking at our menus (flashlight still on, of course...) Lady must've had a lousy night, or whatnot...Her friend, partner, whoever he was, finally joined. Guess she was waiting there a while and took her annoyance out on us. I'm going to use that as an excuse. Karma is excellent because not within 2 minutes of her guest sitting at the table, he broke out his phone and turned on the flashlight. I could have elevated pettiness to the 10th power but just laughed it off. Luckily, another table opened on the same row and requested to be reseated. The table was wobbly. However, if it gets me away from Cruella, I'm good. Service. I looked at the menu, ordered the ribeye and Rigatoni Bolognese. Found it weird that our server made no mention of unique dishes or house favs, chef recommendations, etc. By this point, I was hungry, borderline hangry (no lady, I didn't run across it, I was born here, and if anything, you invaded our borders) it was late, and I just wanted to order my food. About 5 min later, another party was seated (3 men, Cruella's cousins.) Their server comes (he helped us occasionally as well.) Immediately took their drink orders, came out, and went over ALL MENU ITEMS printed or otherwise. Wagyu Beef! A4/A5! Are you kidding me! I don't have to go to the city to get my fix! Guess our server didn't think we'd appreciate it, let alone know what it was. Why am I writing this? Why didn't I complain? For many reasons. 1. The obvious, COVID hit us all one way or another, so getting to be around folks is great! Moreover, it brings back a sense of normalcy. Though tensions are high, the real reason, this place has regulars, and if it takes me to name-drop the owner to receive good service, I need not go there again. 2. Keeping it real would have gone terribly wrong. I Am not from the area, but have lived here for almost a year, 6'2" Male (would race need to be mentioned?) No, I will not play the race card but will display the truth card. Ignorance is not bliss. Tolerance is human. 3. The wait staff, runners, greeters, and everyone not mentioned did a hell of a job trying to run at full capacity. I'm not going to let a few folks ruin their hard work. Mr. Capasso, your service excellence indeed did shine. Unfortunately, it's bottlenecking and not coming across to some of your servers. Staff retraining? Perhaps, attitude adjustment? Always... Phenomenal! My boyfriend took me out for a birthday lunch on a Friday mid-day. It was quiet when we arrived and we were seated in this beautiful indoor garden area with lots of vines and branches. The wine menu was extensive but I went with a lavender dreams cocktail. It was full of flavor and very good! Our waiter was amazing and made some great recommendations for us. We ended up starting with the burrata and sharing a tomahawk steak, broccoli, and truffle fries. One thing was better than the next! I am not a huge steak fan but the steak was so tender and cooked perfectly. The broccoli had a ton of flavor between the lemon and red pepper flakes. The truffle fries had that great truffle essence that can compliment any meal. The burrata was very decadent and creamy and the tomatoes were ripe and so fresh. We finished off lunch with a dessert that was a vanilla bean type custard topped with a chocolate mousse and slivered almonds. They brought it over with a sparkler for my birthday (how fun!). We were staying here so I took a group of 16 folks here. First of all To y is a blast he keeps you on your toes and is a constant source of entertainment. The food was of a good quality and our service was excellent. Get the seafood tower if you come. It was awesome. The pastas were all well received as were the beautiful cuts of steak. The restaurant entrance is very chic, you almost forget you're at a hotel restaurant -and their food is plated beautifully. We sat in the garden patio room which has gorgeous ivy vines draped all over the beams. They have fireplaces scattered throughout, and lovely leather booths for seating. I had the smoked salmon from the brunch menu which was presented as an 'assemble your self' version of a lox bagel. The salmon was delicious and the toppings were fresh and crunchy. I was a huge fan of their impressive menu after I saw they also have a large assortment of sushi you can order, which I will definitely try the next time I come. Looking around at everyones plate you can clearly see the chefs take their time to present each dish impeccably, and the taste most definitely reflects it as well.
