Nobel House is a regular go-to restaurant for us with their awesome smoked pork and brisket offerings. Tonight we changed things up and got the blackened salmon Caesar salad and pulled chicken rice bowl. Both were wonderful. Serving sizes allowed for leftovers and another meal later on! We also got the Dynamite Shrimp to start. Highly recommend!! Great flavor with a slight kick and LOTS of shrimp. Eating indoors is always nice, but on a summer evening, their patio was the way to go! Came here to meet up with friends and once I heard they had burnt ends I knew what I was getting. Came as an appetizer over BBQ chips. A little different than other burnt ends I've had. Other than cutting off the ends of the brisket to get the crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. These were cut into chunks and probably cooked a little bit longer so you had burnt end cubes. We love this place. Being in downtown Glen Ellyn, food can be a bit pricey. My husband and I discovered a little hack. Get the NOBEL HOUSE PRIZE PLATTER and share it! Honestly, it'll feed a family of 4. I can confirm that it does because we had enough to bring home to our 2 teenagers and they were satisfied. It's 60 dollars, you get a half smoked chicken, smoked turkey (my only complaint was the turkey was a salt bomb, could have been an off night) pulled pork, burnt ends AND brisket! This includes 3 sides and 2 corn muffins. For a healthy sampling of ALL of their delicious meats on a massive platter... You can't beat this deal anywhere. This is the 2nd time we've been there and will probably make this joint as our "go to" for local BBQ. read more

We had dinner here a few weeks ago - and it is definitely a place we will be back to. For starters - my husband got the Burnt Ends. I am not a burnt ends fan b/c I usually find them fatty. OMG - these were the best. It was like eating candy - they were so good. Huge portion - especially with the chips that come with it. We ended up bringing some of them home and they reheated just fine the next day. For entrees - we got the Black and Blue Burger and Blackened Shrimp Tacos. Both entrees were really good and the burger reheated very nicely the next day, but compared to the "candy" burnt ends - nothing can really compare! We will be back and look forward to it! read more

Lisa was our server and she was absolutely wonderful -- everything during our visit was great thanks to her! She was attentive, kind, and made sure we had a really pleasant experience. During our time there, an unauthorized vendor came in with his child to sell light-up wand toys. I completely understand that vendors aren't allowed to sell items inside the restaurant. However, the way the manager/boss addressed the situation was disappointing. The tone used, especially toward the child, came across as very harsh and unnecessary. Lisa, on the other hand, handled the situation with kindness and professionalism. She spoke gently to the child and remained respectful throughout, even when told not to engage. She truly managed the moment with grace. We really appreciated Lisa and her service. She represents the kind of hospitality that keeps customers coming back. The situation itself could have been handled much better from a management standpoint, but Lisa did an excellent job. read more

The five stars is for their french toast. Holy moly that french toast was amazing. Do you know that after my husband and I shared a regular order of french toast, I ordered a kids portion at the end just because of how good it was. But everyone enjoyed their food when we went. Husband said the burger was very good and my wings were really tasty too. They have this deep Smokey taste to them which was great. Update 1/25. Sat in the dining area for the first time , received the same excellent service that I'm used to while sitting at the bar. Our server (Lisa?) was exceptional and very attentive. And much like my favorite bartender on top of our needs before we needed to ask. I'm glad it turned out to be the same level of service during the dinner hour as it is during off hours, I know this can be am issue for some places. The banter and back and forth isn't as plentiful, but it's not really why we're there so that's a non issue as she had many other customers to tend to. The food is always consistent and excellent. My husband and I decided to try this place out and glad we did! We ordered nachos, which aren't pictured. They had pulled pork, cheese, jalapeños, baked beans, cabbage slaw, bbq sauce and sour cream. It was really good and the portion was fair. For our entrées, my husband went with the brisket sandwich with fries and I got the Cuban with a side of Mac n cheese. The brisket was really good. The sauce was not very good. The fries were hot and tasty. I liked my Cuban but didn't care for the mustard they use. The mac n cheese was just average and small. Came here on a Friday night for dinner, the restaurant was packed. They do not take reservation so keep that in mind. We were able to get a table after a few minutes of waiting they also have a bar so you can order drinks for a longer wait. We ordered the wings with a variety of sauces the Alabama white sauce was my personal favorite. We also order a prime rib sandwich and Nashville hot chicken sandwich with onion rings. All the food was very good. The only item I would not recommend was the jalapeño mango margarita which is a go to drink of mine, theirs had really no jalapeño or mango flavor at all. We had an excellent meal at Nobel House in Glen Ellyn! We both ordered the Cowboy Reuben and it was fantastic. They were very accommodating to my mom's gluten allergy, and made the sandwich on a gluten free bun. The Reuben was very unique, and if I didn't live in Milwaukee, I'd probably be eating it weekly if not more! At happy hour recently we checked out this nice but expensive bar and grill. It was pretty nice except for the high prices and the lack of affordable vegetarian items. Nobel House has a couple locations with this one being in Glen Ellyn around where most stuff in town is going on. Gets busy but it's never been anything crazy. They have pretty expensive food but it feels more like a casual sports bar than anything fancy. First up were the drinks. It had some pretty good sounding ones except for prices. They have a limited happy hour and not that many things are on special. Getting a look at the menu we chose the cheapest stuff that sounded good. There was limited choices for sure. I had a Bourbon Mule. It's $10 for a typical copper mug, which was kind of a lot for not all that much but it was so good I sipped on in a long time. This is made with Old Forrester, and has ginger beer and lime like a typical version. It hit the spot in my opinion. She had some kind of wine. For the food I suggested getting the Brussels Sprouts appetizer. It's $5 for a few. These are roasted and tossed in balsamic glaze. Fairly good except there could have been more of course. They also have veggie burgers but veganness is questionable and they're also expensive so we passed on these. Good things to drink and eat. It's fine on an occasional visit but not a regular place with these kind of high prices. There's another location in Geneva so go there if you're out west or wherever. read more

We sat outside and I went inside to ask the server if I could grab a water while she was filling drinks at the bar to bring out, it was busy but nothing out of control. She wouldn't look at me and just laughed to her self and kept shaking her head like I asked her something completely crazy. I said I can bring it out, she still wouldn't look or respond just kept shaking her head to herself with a weird smirk. I continued to stand there and she huffed and finally grabbed a water that was filled already and handed it to me with a straight arm and head forward, still not looking at me. This is a noisy sports bar with an emphasis on barbecue. We're vegetarian, and we were here because the place we'd intended to go was closed. Veg options are limited: there are no vegetarian appetizers (you can get the mushroom flatbread, hold the chicken) They had a burrata insalata special which sold out before we arrived; the online menu says they have a rice bowl which I must have missed; what we did see was a veggie burger and the mac and cheese. So we got one of each. Service was fine: we were seated quickly. We asked about our "free appetizer, limit $16" coupon since only one app n usider $16 (they'll take $16 off your bill); asked for broccoli in the mac and cheese; and asked for a revised receipt since the restaurant assumes you're paying by credit card and charges you 3% for that. Server stayed cool even though we were grumpy and I appreciate that. The veggie burger is house-made and comes with pepper jack, pico de gallo, and a zesty dipping sauce for your onion rings or fries; onion rings were good enough to finish but room temperature and overly salty. The mac and cheese was pretty good: the sauce had recognizable cheddar flavor and shaved parmesan; the added broccoli was a bit skimpy, but I was adding a side with no upcharge so I'm not complaining. Two entrees plus a soda: $52 with tip. In summary: food is fine, but vegetarians should go elsewhere unless you're with someone who insists on this place. read more

They have a great array of cocktails and other drink options. Their bbq options are also great! Smoky, tender and good portion sizes! On my last visit I got their smoked poutine. There was so much meat on it, I could barely even finish a third of the dish! But it was a hearty indulgence for sure. The only thing I wasn't overly impressed with was their regular Mac and cheese. Great bbq spot in the burbs. Decided to try Nobel house in Glen Ellyn last Sunday night for dinner. No reservation required and not wait time which was great! We had they Noho House Prize Platter and Lobster roll to share. Didn't realize till now that the platter was missing sausage link. But anyways my top two on the platter were Ribs and brisket.The smoked ham and turkey were dry unfortunately. The platter is big and easily can feed 2-4 people. There is 2 bbq sauces that are with the platter one is a very loose vinegary tasting and the second one a thicker sauce and sweet. The lobster roll was good too, but without they sauce that accompanied it on the side it would be just okay. I loved the roasted Brussels sprouts side it full of flavor and caramelized sweetness. I had the jalapeño pork belly burger with a side of Brussels sprouts. That was packed with flavor and filling. The burger itself was a bit over cooked so next time, I will make sure to order the patties medium to medium rare. The Brussels sprouts were sweet and crispy on the outside. Smacked! The wings were perfectly cooked and juicy. But hands down the best order was the dessert-- campfire skillet-- chocolate chip cookie skillet topped with marshmallows and ice cream. Slam dunk!!! I hate to say it but I think I'n done with Nobel House. To be fair the waiter warned me about the cilantro in the Cubano sandwich and I ignored her. Wrong move. It was one of the worst sandwiches I've had in recent memory. I should have known better. I've been miffed that some time ago they significantly reduced the size of their brisket sandwich, which is disappointing. However, the brisket was not only a small offering but was somewhat without taste and a little dry. Not worth the price. Finally, while not their fault, this seems to be the place where GE residents bring their kids to eat. That's fine, but not what my wife and I are looking for. Great BBQ and sides. Brisket - outside bits are a bit dry, but put it in the sauce and it's perfect. The inside parts are so insanely juicy and flavorful. Sausage - it's a large sausage, more like a brat. It was savory, juicy, and tender. Perfect on it's own Tots - Tater Tots, crispy perfection with a fluffy inside and some sea salt to give it even more flavor and texture, you actually get quite a large amount of them Mac & Cheese - super legit mac and cheese, the sauce just made me close my eyes and savor the flavor and feeling on my tongue. I ended up using the random piece of toast to sop up the left over sauce Except for the ends of the brisket, I ended up not needing the sauce at all. One is thicker and a bit sweet, the other is thinner and a bit tart. I preferred the thicker one. Oh I also got a pile of pickles that were very cucumbery in taste.
