Went in on a Tuesday night with only 4 people in the place. They already had their food, I ordered, she called it and I waited 20 mins and nothing. In the time 4 other sets of twos came in and 2 of them got their burgers and fries and mine still missing in action. So I just approached the register and said I'd like to pay for my drink and leave since I'm not getting my food and 4 others that came in 10-12 mins after I did have already been served. The food prep guy got a little bit of an attitude with me saying your burgers right here and it's going to go to waist. So either they were gonna serve me somebody else's burger or they were gonna serve me a burger that's been sitting on the prep station table for 15 minutes. The girl At the register, couldn't believe that I was only going to pay for my drink and not the burger that I wasn't going to be eating or taking with me, she was having a hard time understanding that I've never got served my meal and that's why I was only willing to pay for my drink, even though I probably shouldn't have paid for anything. I was very disappointed they did not offer a children's option as the burgers are way too big for a small child. Service is walk up then they bring you the food. Even though I was in Greenville, North Carolina for four years, this is the first time I've ever been to a PTs. I can't believe I waited this long! I came here with my boyfriend the last Sunday and it was so awesome. There are several locations around Wilmington, as well as Eastern North Carolina, I believe. When you walk in, you have to go straight to the counter to order your food. There are pieces of paper where you write what it is you want a pencil and pad they provide. You can choose from a big burger, small burger, hotdog, cheese. Grill food. All sandwiches are served with a drink and a side. Most people get the fries as a side which seasoned with the restaurant very own lemon pepper seasoning that they also have for sale. There are also side salads with various dressing options to choose from. You can't go wrong with either. When you place your order, you have to say whether you will be eating inside, outside, or taking it to go. There are options to order a beer if you want. At this location, the outdoor seating was a covered patio with fan. Even in the hot summer of Wilmington, sitting here was not an issue. They have various little contraption set up so that there are no flies around- and they work. I really enjoyed my lunch here the other day and I can guarantee that I will be back here many times throughout my time in Wilmington. Food is great, fast, and prices are very reasonable. In fact, so many people love this place that it is not uncommon that you will see stickers for PTs on the back of peoples cars! This was a unique experience! Orders are made by customers on old-fashioned "tickets" that you fill out yourself and hand to the employees. In exchange you get a drink and find a seat while they prepare your meal. Nothing average about this grille, where everything is fresh and a bit extraordinary. If you like a good hot dog, stop by for the PT Dog which is more of a sandwich, and quite delicious. The fries are plentiful , seasoned well and are just to die for. Do have their Fresh lemonade! And that old fashioned service that you remember from years ago? That's the "old-fashioned" in the name. I realized I hadn't updated my review from my most recent visit. Unfortunately I just got a thanks from the Mgr for the visit a year ago. Anyway, back to my visit recently... This is our go to place when we head back home from the beach. We had a simple order, one burger well done with catsup only, the other, a cheeseburger medium rare with everything. Pretty simple, right? Well the well done burger with catsup only came with cheese on it (didn't ask for cheese and it wasn't checked off on the slip). Not everyone likes cheese. The other, a cheeseburger with everything that was supposed to be medium rare was cooked medium, no pink at all, but I was willing to eat it anyway. So my spouse brings back her well done catsup only burger that they put cheese on. The guy apologizes and corrects the order quickly. When he brought her the burger I told him mine wasn't cooked to order. His response was "it depends who's on the grill." Are you kidding me? Either you teach all your cooks how to make the burgers you offer (well done, medium, medium rare, or rare) or don't offer them that way. I said "this place is really slipping." Another time we were there they got my order wrong. Not to mention that it looked like they hadn't cleaned the floors since we were there a year ago. Honestly, they were filthy. I'm always promoting this place when the foodie pages ask where to get a great burger, but between two visits of getting simple orders wrong and the filthy floor I'm done. I appreciate they have two vegan options: a garden burger and a black bean burger. Both are flavorful and pair so nicely with the lemon pepper seasoned fries. They make their own tea which is delicious. Ordering is simple: fill out the form and select your sandwich, circle what toppings you like, and pick your beverage. From there, grab a seat and before you know it, your food is hot and in front of you. Their call in service works wonderful as well. It takes about 10-15 for them to get your food ready, so once you're there you have your meal! Great to bring folks from out of town if they're looking for something great and local. PT's never disappoints. Sometimes things vary a bit, and in my opinion, this is a good thing. No cookie cutter manufactured mcburgers here if you want a real burger and real fries. They strike a balance between good food and casual atmosphere. You can amend their hefty but basic menu in many ways to suit your tastes. This, IMHO is the best burger joint in Wilmington. Hands down. Bar none. I always get my fries with light seasoning salt. They sell it on the side and I bet you can use that stuff on anything, maybe even the burgers? read more

First time at a P.T's this past Saturday for lunch as we first tried to go to Mess Hall but we would have been waiting hours there as they were very busy. This P.T's was very busy too. You order your food on a piece of paper that has the menu on it and you check off what you want, give it to cashier. After a while get your food with that piece of paper and then when done eating you go to cashier with the paper and pay. It is quite hectic in there but the chicken tenders, grilled burger over a flame and fries were all good. We did not have any, but they do serve alcohol.
