Honestly, this is the best local record shop in Las Vegas. It has that classic old-school record store vibe that's getting harder to find. I've picked up some incredible new releases here, along with a few seriously great used gems. The shop itself is just plain cool--but what really makes it special is Joey. He's an awesome guy with a deep knowledge of music and recordings, and he always makes the experience better. My wife and I make it a point to stop in a couple times a month to see what's new and hunt for our next favorite LP. read more

Wow! What an amazing store with a great variety of vinyl, CD's, cassette tapes, VHS, etc. with good prices. The shop ower is very nice and super helpful. Even the local customers in the shop we're amazing and fun to talk to. A true gem!! read more

Dude, this store was amazing. First time coming here. I'm from California. I met the manager is very kind with respect. Gave me a percent off on some CDs gave me a good recommendation on a band to listen to similar Carlos Santana but honestly amazing I would recommend anyone who is a metal head any type of music fan to go there read more

What an awesome local gem! Outstanding service, welcoming, accommodating, informative with great conversation. A few parking spaces right in front of shop. Lots of vinyl to explore along with tapes, CDs, DVDs. Chill vibes and ambient music while you shop around. Luv going off the strip to discover more of what the city has to offer. Stopped by record city this morning for the first time since they closed the Charleston location. They have the best pricing and selection in the city and everything is very organized and easy to find. I had a great time catching up with Joey and looking through limited edition releases. As a local this record store is an experience. Just walking through the door you're walking into Vault of all this physical media and some used vinyl is really reasonable priced. They also have DVDs and Blu Ray used. This is another great local record store in the middle of Vegas. The Service is great! Check out it when you get a chance. read more

I'll drive from Southwest to this place from now on. Joey is too good. The man can read ingredients off a food label and I'll listen and bop my head. Amazing experience and the shop itself feels..."true," "real," "authentic." I found too many things I wanted that it drove me insane. The prices are excellent too and they carry a lot of different kinds of albums and editions, but really? The one thing that makes me pick this place over any other vinyl store in the Valley? Joey. Undefeated conversationalist and lover of all things music with stories for years. Best service I ever got and I hate being given the customer service treatment most of the time. read more

Best vinyl selection in Las vegas with the nicest owner on earth! Everything is well categorized but if you love stumbling upon a hidden gem check out the new arrivals that are not yet in order. To me that is always the thrill of the hunt. Prices are fair and sometimes you get a little off when purchasing a nice size stack. I always find something rare or unique here. You can spend hours flipping thru his collection and he always has a nice playlist going to keep you in the mood to stick around. read more

Hands down THE BEST record store in all of Vegas. Zia's has its charm and selection, but nothing beats the intimate "mom and pop" feel when you walk into record city. Joey's one of the dopest, most humble human beings I've ever met making whatever distance of a drive worth it, knowing every single trip you'll find great selection, great prices, and great hospitality and service. Been 5 times now and have found amazing vinyls for my collection each time along with great conversation. HOLY RECORD CITY!! Your first thought as you pull into the parking lot is, "is this place open?" Then you walk in and the you're greeted with the best hidden gem of the vinyl buying landscape in Las Vegas. I've been trying to find "Big Calm" from Morcheeba for YEARS, in the wild, and as soon as I mentioned it to Joey he was like, "Yeah, it's over there in the M's." I was so excited I stopped and bought it before I was even done looking around. One white whale down...then I find another one!! This place is worth the trip, time and money. Joey is a gracious and well versed host and I cannot wait to go back there with more money!! 10/10 highly recommended. read more

This place is truly a hidden gem. Whenever we go out of town, I will find a place that sells CDs-which my son still uses. Yep those and his portable cd player. Had a young lady ask me if that was an actually cd player...lol I'm old and he's not gonna update, so it just works. It has a huge selection of Vinyl and def what we were looking for. There was every genre you think you want! I left with classic jazz and him well...our tastes differ lol the owner/s were super nice and even gifted him extra CDs for free. If time allows, we would def like to go back and take home more music to fill our house with. And of all the places we've gone to for CDs, this was the best for pricing read more

Our time spent in Record City was an all-around great experience. The owner was so friendly when we called ahead and time and when we came in. We were looking for an 8-track for a 70s party and he let us know he had plenty for us to choose from. When we came in, he was very nice and helpful. He shared some interesting backstory about the store and welcomed us back any time. This store was also the only record store open before 11am so that was wonderful as well. We will definitely be back to look through all the records and other selections he has to browse through. Thank you! read more

This was the first record store that I have ever visited, and I am glad it was my first experience! Record City was phenomenal in their customer service and array of record selections. They have mostly everything you can think of. From vinyl records, CDs, to cassette tapes, I was seemingly excited and overwhelmed at the same time. They are located just past by the SAHARA Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. You can also see the Stratosphere near it! The only difficulty that I encountered when visiting Record City was parking. They have limited parking spaces in front of the store so I did end up having to park on the side street. The gentleman that helped me find the vinyls that I was looking for was so sweet! You can really see the passion they hold for music and records. I was hesitating back and forth on whether or not to get one or two vinyls. As I approached the counter, he noticed that I decided to put back one of the vinyls that I hesitated on, but being that it was my first time he offered to provide me a first timer 10% discount on the second vinyl and I knew I had to take him up on the offer! I am already planning on making a visit back down to the Record City to get my other set of vinyl records. Definitely amazing to see local record stores like this in the city still open and serving the community. read more

What a great place! I love the variety! From modern, to jazz, to rock, etc., it literally has everything! The best part, the price for each record is very reasonably priced. It's competitively priced compared to Wal Mart and Amazon, which was a pleasant surprise. The guy who rang me up was also very sweet! He recommended some other artists I should look at given my purchase, and I especially love that he gave me space as I browsed through the massive selection. Definitely coming back! First of all, this store has mostly albums and not 12inches. His 12inch selection is not organized at all. His store is extremely dusty and dirty. He doesn't have a listening station, but offered to play records for us. When we asked him to play some for us, we got resistance and some attitude. He started playing some and then 3 records in, he was extremely rude and told us he's not playing anymore and we will have to just take a chance and buy it or not. When we were chatting and it came up in conversation that we're DJs, he said it in a disrespectfully sarcastic manner. I'm honestly shocked to see the positive reviews here because that was far from our experience, and we go to many record stores around the country and world. He was by far the rudest. He then probably realized his poor attitude and tried to make conversation as we're paying. I'd never recommend anyone I know to visit his place due to the attitude alone and poor customer service read more

Record City is hands down the best record store in Las Vegas. Both Murphy and Joey are very knowledgable, and will halp you find what you want, and might help you discover something new. Much more personal than a corporate store like Zia, and friendlier than some of the other shops in Vegas. I would write how much of my paycheck goes to them every month, but my wife may read this review. Records are organized in a way that makes crate digging here a lot of fun. I also can state that 90% of the time I end up buying something I had no idea I was looking for when I walked in. A real gem among Vegas record stores! read more

These guys know their stuff! It was such a pleasure to dig here! This was probably also the most friendly record store I've ever been to. The staff knew all their regulars but also spent time with the "out of towers" getting to know them too. This place is a short walk from the last monorail stop so if you're in town and on the strip, it's easy to hit this place up without an Uber. The prices are reasonable too! read more

We came from Los Angeles and we always like to check out local record stores, since we're cassette collectors - and left Record City with the best impression! The owner (who's name we unfortunately didn't catch) was THE coolest person and shared a story with us about meeting the Go-Go's. If you're a heavy metal fan, you've heard of Metal Blade Records. It was one of the first labels…read morethat truly catered to this genre of music, featuring many of the best in the industry. When I heard Metal Blade founder/CEO Brian Slagel had moved to Vegas and opened a booth in the Antique Mall of America, I knew it was a place I wanted to check out. I've been a handful of times in recent years. The Antique Mall of America is HUGE, so just finding this place is a bit of a chore; it doesn't help that the outdoor strip mall where the facility is located is largely abandoned. Once you get inside there are a ton of vendors and twists and turns, but believe me, if you're a metal fan like I am, it's worth looking for. The Metal Blade store is technically THREE different kiosks in the mall. The two main ones are adjacent from one another, with one being mostly shirts/clothing, and the other being mainly CDs and vinyl releases. A third booth (located in a different part of the mall) mostly consists of hockey jerseys/related clothing/etc. While I'm admittedly not a sports fan, it was cool to see that the latter kiosk wasn't just limited to Golden Knights stuff. A divers selection is always a good thing. Those two main booths I mentioned before are where I spent most of my time. The shirts and such are offered for fair prices which is a nice change from the overpriced swag sold at concerts. And the vinyl and CD selection is nice too, including many vinyl LPs newly reissued by Metal Blade, not to mention a nice grab bag of assorted CDs. I walked away with two T-shirts and a 2CD Deep Purple set that was fairly cheap. The only issues I really have with this shop stem from the space, or rather, a lack thereof. Having booths in an antique mall isn't the same as having a standalone store, hence the lack of space and merch. I'm hoping Mr. Slagel can give us an independent store one way, possibly as part of the Metal Blade Museum that should be opening here in Vegas soon. Metal fans shouldn't hesitate to check Slagel's wares here out. It's a little tricky to find and on the small side, but worth it.

This place is something special, something unique. A once in a lifetime experience for the true vinyl collecting junky. I had the pleasure of visiting wax trax while on a work trip a week ago. Before coming in I did my research. I read all the bad reviews about how they don't price their inventory, how the owner is rude, blah blah blah. Those only made me more curious. Upon arrival I was immediately greeted and asked what I'm looking for. I told the owner my genre preference and they without hesitation showed me all the sections so I could start digging. Spent 2 hours searching on my hands a knees through row after row of 45s/ 12". Till eventually I landed on a rare banger that I myself have never even heard of and according to Discogs only 9 people own. This is something that doesn't happen so often when digging for me anymore. Right then and there I knew this place was something special. A true treasure trove of vinyl. The owner was even fair with his pricing. Overall this is a business that will never come around again and if you don't appreciate it while it's here then you will only miss it when it's gone. 10 out of 10 will be back again

I read couple…read moremixed reviews on prices and service and I have to say I thought most of the prices were inline and the staff was incredibly friendly! I found one of my "grail" albums there and spent 30 plus minutes chatting with staff. I feel bad I didn't get names but everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. They have the mot organized system of used media that I have ever seen. I can see stopping by regularly to sift through their inventory. I give this place a solid 5 stars and plan on making this a regular stop when I'm in the area!

Almost like shopping online but instant gratification with some sale items, no shipping, and best of all, no waiting. Pretty constant flow of customers, and most left with something including their happy smiling faces. Sort of an obscure location at the far end of a generic strip mall off Spring Mountain. But worth the drive. My daughter went in with a list of 10 items, found 9 of the items, and picked up a couple of extra things not on her list (irresistible sales up to 50% off!).

On one particular trip to Vegas we rented a car since we were doing a lot of things off The Strip in Spring Valley. Parking was free. They had a good selection of K-Pop merch even more so than the K-Pop stores up here in Seattle. If you're traveling to Vegas make sure you have enough room in your luggage for merch. Also make sure you bring bubble wrap and sheet protectors. You don't want any magazine pages getting torn or mementos getting distorted, smashed, or cracked on your flight or car ride back home. The store will probably be busy right now because of BTS' world tour so if you're the type of shopper who doesn't like waiting in lines or needs breathing room to browse maybe you'll have to visit the store at opening or you may need to visit Vegas again when there isn't a major K-Pop event. Anyway, happy shopping :)
