Hands down one of the best record shops in the region. Full of rare and original presses of all genres of music from floor to ceiling on all 3 floors. I can spend hours here digging around and the owner Dave is a great guy.

This is my happy place, my instant regret, my where have you been all my life, my first crush, made my punk rock girl toes curl and take my schmoney type of place!! You get what you pay for.... The anxiety of not getting to see everything, the aroma of decades old cover art, rarities that test your loyalty to the scene or your need to pay bills. I love everything about this ex lover I can't seem to shake. Invest time, give em a go and spend some hard earned money. No regrets!!

My second visit to this music history museum was much better because I knew what to expect. This time the owners son has taken over the register. The old man is still there but just minding the shop. Same drill, pull your records and see what price they come up with. But this time it did feel better. I always find great vinyl here. Expect to pay a fair premium.

I was on a musical journey today and decided to hit up Wax Trax Records. Had the time to journey to the west side of time and it was well worth it! First off -I really enjoyed my conversation with Rich. He's so knowledgeable of his collection and was a hoot to talk to . I found albums here that I have not been able to find anywhere else. I scored : The Psychedelic Furs first album, The Smithereens , Ramones, Sting and Supertramp. Go there early with your stretchy pants because it will take you awhile to browse and you'll need stretchy pants to get through the aisles. Well worth the trip and I'll be seeing you soon Rich

    My scores from that day

I visited Wax Trax back in December of 2023. Let me start off by saying (and I mean this in the least pretentious way possible) that this place is for serious buyers and collectors. If you're just getting into the vinyl game - it's certain that Rich is probably going to rub you the wrong way, but that's just how the guy is. If you know your sh*t, even to an extent - he won't treat you like an idiot (though he may scold you for not being "good at browsing"). The other guys who work there are ironically extremely chill and laid-back. With of all that being said, this place truly is a dream for collectors who are looking for crazy stuff that you don't see everyday - it's almost unreal when you walk in and look at the super rare stuff they have just sitting there in the bins, most being un-sleeved. Yeah - nothing's priced, and of course like everyone else, I think it's a ridiculous concept - but hey, talk to Rich with what what you want, and he may work out a deal with you, like he did with me. Oh, and his dog Charley is cute as heck.

TONS of vinyl well organized and tightly packed.

How many tears does Rich Rosen cry when his son David sells his most beloved records for really fair prices?

I collect vinyl, CDs, DVDs, and VHS tapes, so this place is basically a treasure hunt every time I visit. One of my favorite things about Zia is their selection of older media. I'm especially into 90s and 2000s nostalgia, and I've found so many fun treasures from those eras here. They have a huge selection, so I can easily spend forever looking through everything. I also love that every visit feels different because you never know what you're going to find. I've discovered things I wasn't even looking for and ended up leaving with some of my favorite additions to my collection. If you love physical media, collecting, or just miss the experience of browsing through CDs and movies like we did in the 2000s, Zia Records is absolutely worth checking out. Such a fun nostalgic spot and one I'll continue going back to!

Some areas of the store are quite cluttered, but I'm sure it's hard to keep so many different products organized, especially when they carry so much pre owned as well. They have deals upwards of 99c for older records, that are honestly really cool to look through and find new to you older tunes.

I know that they…read morehave to appeal to most genres in one store, but I didn't find anything that I wanted the 4 times I've gone. Like not one Blink-182 record, no Descendants, I never even found a single Nirvana record; You know, the 3 most popular bands and most people's wishlist?? This is considering the several hours I've spent there. Also, lots of used, sometimes old and broken music equipment that are full priced; stuff that's $50-$150, that you'd realistically find at Goodwill for $10-$20. Some of the CDs are over $15 which is insane, considering the CDs they have aren't even organized; and 90% of them are bands/artists I literally have never seen. I will still show up every week for movies, but they need to rename it to Zia Video; because the DVD selection is actually the only reason I go now. I've found countless films I really want every time I've gone and I still haven't explored more than 15% of the shelves there.

There was a DJ shopping around and giving his recommendations to other patrons. It was just such a cool vibe. There's little gifts and collectibles too, and different formats for music available. If you can't seem to find what you are looking for, they have the full inventory online... But where's the fun in that? It takes away at treasure hunting. There were also some new and used Blu-rays, they sold 4k, DVDs. The store was a good size so, make sure you plan for some time away. After spending a good 2 hours going through some of the vinyls (there's two levels and we barely made a dent), we walked away with several vinyls (2 used and 3 new) and some used blurays. You could spend about $5.99 on average for used vinyls and $30-$40 for brand new. Total cost: $140 after taxes. I'm definitely coming back for sure!
