Floored by how good my experience was at Recycle-A-Bike. I went with the goal of repairing 2 flat tires (damn you, Point Street Bridge), getting an estimate for selling my 1,000lb vintage Schwinn, and browsing the selection of refurbished bikes they have there to buy to replace my commuter bike. I got all of that done plus more, for the bargain price or $15 for parts, labor, training, and consultation. And knowing that I supported a one-of-a-kind community-based nonprofit. Recycle-A-Bike, formerly housed at the Steel Yard, is a volunteer-driven social venture nestled in the heart of Olneyville, behind NY System Weiners. Their mission says it all: "RAB is a volunteer-based community organization that connects people with refurbished bikes, provides practical bike knowledge, and advocates bicycle use by safer, more confident cyclists." So there's an education component to teach bike mechanics and maintenance, a store component to buy affordable used bikes, and a service component to have your bike fixed up by one of the volunteer bike mechanics. The location is a total gem. Plenty of parking available in the lot. The place was bustling! Kids trying out bikes to buy, teenagers completing the Build-A-Bike program (32 hours of hands-on training where they build one bike for the shop to resell and one bike for them to keep), community members stopping in to use the readily available tools and bike stand, and volunteers helping out the folk like me who needed some hand-on help and guidance. It felt like family- unified by a love of the bike and a commitment to community development. The volunteers were all super knowledgeable and friendly. Turns out that the volunteer who helped me is a Brown professor and volunteer rugby coach who worked at a bike shop on Hope St. forever and a day ago. He knew his stuff, and was an absolute joy to chat with. I just can't say enough good things. The service was great. The experience was great. The parts and labor were a total steal of a deal because of the volunteer hours. And I know that I supported a great cause in my neighborhood. I'm toying between completing the 32-hour Build-A-Bike program to get a bike and the training, but if time doesn't allow in the fall, I will definitely return to the shop in Olneyville to buy my new commuter bike. Who needs a bike shop? I've found Recycle-A-Bike.

The template pieces were all laid out, but that was it. Co-founder Luke had me read and sign all the releases first, and asked about my experience with welding etc. Being a Veteran myself, Luke as well, and the non-profit supporting Veterans and First Responders, he also made sure to ask me if loud noises or anything would bother me. Every step was explained and demonstrated before I was able to do it, and as nervous as I was at first, it quickly went away knowing he took my safety, the safety of others as well as their shop very seriously. Co-founder Ben also provided some muscle when I was unable to bend the metal myself. In just over 2 hours I had sanded, measured, re-measured, bent , hammered and welded together a really cool one of a kind 5-sided barn star. It was definitely something different to do and it was a really cool and fun experience. 5 stars !

Gearhead Systems International…read more address: 250 Oakland Beach Ave, Warwick, RI 02889 phone number: (401) 739-0090 This person Ron is a scammer and a thief whereby he charged me $282.00 to tighten the clamp on the gooseneck hose which was not leaking. I told him it was the water pump but he said he pressure tested it and nothing was leaking. That was an outright lie as there was a larger puddle in the middle of my car right underneath the water pump (weep hole). Upon speaking to him via telephone he began using foul perverted language at me as I can corroborate every word verbatim. I asked him if he was going to correct the problem and he kept using the same line, 'I pressure tested it'. I said it was still leaking (water pump) and I wished to have the problem rectified. He made no mention of bringing the car back in. I'm filing a complaint with my bank card and may move further to file additional complaints. In addition, Ron charged me $126.00 to replace a carburetor fuel filter whereas I provided the fuel filter and nylon gasket. He said his rate is $110.00 an hour. How did he come up with $126.00? We would strongly advise everyone not to take in their car to the crooked establishment pretending to be an automotive repair facility. Take your car in at your own risk and beware of the snakes in the grass. Gearhead is looking to entrap the unsuspecting. "DO NOT GO THERE". *** This place described as Gearhead DIY Super Center is a fictitious name whereby the Better Business Bureau has them listed as "Gearhead Systems International". The business is falsifying the name and using false advertisement and misrepresentation. *** The five star reviews are most likely fictitious/ fake. We're unto this place scamming others. DATE OF TRANSACTION: 01-18-2025 Amount Paid To Business : $282.00 Business Provided TO Fix the Problem Nature of Dispute Business has not tried to resolve the issue at all, only using vulgar perverted language directed at me when I asked to bring the car back in. Ron made no mention of fixing the problem as he diagnosed the problem incorrectly. I brought him the water pump, three gallons of antifreeze, and a lower water pump hose. Ron quoted the price at $330.00. I said o.k. Upon bringing my vehicle in Ron said he would check the water pump to be sure. He called me a day later and said the gooseneck hose was loose and it was not the water pump. That was an outright lie as the anti-freeze was leaking right out below the water pump. When I picked up my car I was given the bill. The following day I called and told Ron there was a big puddle of anti-freeze right under my car in the middle where the water pump is located. Ron was adamant in saying that it was the hose (an outright lie). The hose was never leaking (Gooseneck Hose) as there would have been signs of antifreeze which there is not or never was. By the way, all my calls are logged and recorded as I can corroborate every word verbatim; "Including Ron's vulgar foul language". I told Ron I was filing a complaint and Ron said Go Ahead using vulgar language. I'm seeking the entire amount of $282.00 returned back to my bank card. I sent them an email requesting my funds be returned in the amount of $282.00 They never responded. All phone calls were logged and recorded to corroborate every word verbatim. On 1-28-2025 North Providence Tire installed a 'leaking' water pump in the amount of $475.95 Account Number: 399149. I was scammed out of $282.00 by a thief that did not perform any work. This business should be investigated. We filed a complaint with the Attorney General for the State of Rhode Island, the Better Business Bureau and with my bank card. Ronald Joseph Long has not responded back to any. *** In response to the liar Cheryl. I did not call three days later. Actualy, I called the next day in that "My Calls Are Logged and Recorded" : "Metadata intact". These people are nothing more than "scammers". These people specialiaze in lies. My vehicle was the lead vehicle in the 1997 Oldsmobile Birthday Celebration in 1997 as it has trophies and plaques. Here is a link to my youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPyKeEEsHaI *These people are in for a rude awakening. ** Ron is nothing more than a 'punk' as I m a prior veteran of the United States Marine Corps. In addition, Ron is the "liar" as he surely must be on medication and/or drugs. Don't forget Ron I have you on audio with your perverted filthy language. I do not speak in that fashion and again "The Audio Logs " can substantiate the "FACTS". ADDENDUM: "By the way ALL of our 5 stars are ligit". They are not only liars, they cannot even spell or comprehend the meaning of anything "LIGIT" is "LEGIT" IDIOTS! Supplement: The scammers Gearhead) did not answer the Better Business Bureau Complaint (Enclosed) !
