This was my first dining experience at Red Ash and it was for my friends birthday dinner. We had a party of seven and were seated at the high top in the front of the restaurant by the hostess counter. I had a great view of everybody walking by the restaurant outside :) Our server was fantastic! He was super friendly and attentive. We arrived at 8:00 p.m. and left a little after 10:00 p.m. The food was delicious. My man absolutely loved his seafood pasta dish! He doesn't even eat pasta but he scraped that plate dry. I highly recommend ordering family style for the table but make sure your whole party is on board with splitting the check evenly because the restaurant does not break up the check according to diners only split evenly, I believe up to four ways. Example: Our check was $822 (included gratuities) for seven people and we were only able to split evenly four ways. Roughly $118 each. It is what it is but I didn't even get a main course. Just a glass of wine, a half of a piece of bruschetta, some of the Caesar salad and a small portion of the gnocchi (all shared) I'm glad I got to experience Red Ash, but now that I've checked that off my list, I'm good.

Had reserved this restaurant a month before visiting Austin. Had chosen this spot after some research for hip, high end restaurants with great food and ambiance. This restaurant was everything I could of asked for. Probably the best restaurant we tried in all of Austin. I'm from Los Angeles, and have been to many high end and hip restaurants, this was definitely up there with some of the best restaurants. Food: Crab tagliatelle is a must! This dish was delicious and everything you can ask for from a pasta. Gnocchi special with Peas and Asperagus is a must. This creamy and feather light dish was packed with so much flavour. Lobster scalloping was very good as well and so was the filet mignon. But best of all were the side of carrots, pear and endive salad and the Cho salad. My drink was the basil cocktail was was phenomenal. Everything was just so so very good. Our waitress Tiagna was an absolute delight in every way. Thank you so much!!!

Our food was excellent well prepared and the service was great too! First time visiting and it didn't disappoint. Love this place my 10oz filet was well prepared and the Italian bread was so soft and crunchy. I especially love the wood grilled flavor in my steak. We enjoyed dessert salted caramel gelato with espresso coffee. The ambiance is unique we sat in a booth by the bar. I definitely will return.

We've always heard so much hype about Red Ash and just had to try for ourselves. Takes a few months to get a reservation. I had made a reservation a few weeks prior for our anniversary month. When we sat at our table they had a cute little greeting card from the staff wishing us a happy anniversary. Pro Tip: Just make a reservation way in advance and if you make it you make it. Even if you don't think you will be able to make it. If you can't go just cancel with enough advance. We started with the Meatballs that pair wonderfully with their Italian Bread. Flavorful and plentiful dish and def get the bread! Next came the Bone Marrow & Tuna Crudo. I will say though for some reason after we finished our Meatballs it took them quite a while to bring our dishes after that. Bone Marrow was divine and also paired well with the Italian Bread. Tuna Crudo was not what I expected because it was warm and I was expecting it to be cold. But it was good and I love eggplant. Our main dish was the Agnolotti Alla Piemontese. From the description it seemed to hit all the boxes since we are meat lovers (contains braised beef & pork shoulder) and truffle. I love me some truffle. When we ordered the Agnolotti Alla Piemontese I asked him does it have a lot of truffle flavor because I love truffle. He said oh we can definitely add more truffle if you would like when the dish comes out. When the dish came they had the chef come shave an extra truffle on the dish. I honestly could not taste the difference. Was not enough truffle flavor for me. Note the extra truffle is an added charge. Overall lovely experience. If we return we will need to try some different dishes to give it another try.

The Agnolotti pasta was really good, so much so I had to scrape every ounce of the sauce off the plate. The bone marrow was also pretty solid. However, I didn't really feel like the Blue crab pasta lives up to the hype. The noodle was a little dry and the sauce flavor was a little plain in my opinion.

5 stars for appetizers and dessert 4 stars for main The appetizers and desserts were excellent. The appetizers were just really done so well, though pricey. The steak trimmings bruschetta was a single slice of bread, but it was loaded with both perfect medium rare steak and delicious mushrooms. Add maybe a $4 order of two slices of their garlic bread, and you could perhaps call this an entree. The octopus was perfectly tender and came sitting in a delicious almost-stew that made the dish heartier. Again, kind of expensive for the single skewer (about 6 pieces) of octopus. We got one of the most expensive mains -- the cold lobster tails scampi style with spaghettini. There were five small lobster tails, which isn't bad. Flavor was just fine. The pasta on the side was just fine, just cooked beyond al dente in a simple tomato sauce. It was a little surprising the pasta didn't have lobster flavor or even scampi flavor. Felt like two very different dishes on the plate. This dish also came with a slice of bread. Their bread is great. We also got the special-- morel mushrooms over polenta and a poached egg. It tasted great but was probably the thinnest, smallest serving of polenta I've ever had. The desserts is where Red Ash then redeemed itself. The tiramisu is great...AND HUGE. Double the size I would have expected. And they don't say it on the menu, but you can order a single scoop of gelato for $4. Parking is always challenging downtown; we got super lucky with someone leaving street parking just as we got there. It's very noisy inside. Why do downtown restaurants insist on having no sound dampening?

We had a wonderful date night at Red Ash and finally understood why it's one of Austin's most talked‑about restaurants. We booked our 6:45pm reservation two months out, arrived a little early, and were seated at the bar right away--already a great start. Drinks: She ordered the Heat of Passion and I went with the Satan's Circus. Both were solid cocktails, but the Heat of Passion definitely stole the show with brighter, more pronounced flavors. Mine was good, though the chilis were much more subtle than expected. Starters: We started with the burrata with tomatoes and the bone marrow. The burrata itself was outstanding--creamy, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The tomatoes were good but could have used a touch more seasoning, though it seemed they were going for a "let the ingredients shine" approach. The bone marrow, however, was phenomenal. Rich, buttery, and paired perfectly with the extra bread it came with (which was helpful since we devoured the burrata's bread instantly). It was my first time trying marrow, and it was a "when in Rome" moment I'm glad I had. Entrées: We shared the potato gnocchi (small portion) and the blue crab pasta (full portion). The crab pasta was flavorful and well‑balanced, but the gnocchi packed such a punch that you really had to alternate bites or it would overshadow the other dish entirely. For what it's worth, we're not huge seafood people, so that may have influenced our impressions--but both dishes were delicious in their own way. Dessert: We debated between the olive oil cake and the chocolate cake, and finally chose the chocolate hazelnut volcano cake. Zero regrets. Rich, warm, and decadent--halfway through I was ready for a nap in the best possible way. Ambience: The building itself is thoughtful and stylish. There was music playing (sounded like Bad Bunny vibes), but it was hard to hear over the crowd--if anything, lowering it might make conversations easier. Service: Sitting at the bar ended up being a great choice. The bartender was attentive, helpful with recommendations, and kept the experience smooth from start to finish. Overall: A fantastic evening and absolutely worth the hype. We completely understand why people rave about Red Ash.

We managed to sneak in here on a Monday night and find bar seating at around 8:30 PM. I was later told it takes months to get a reservation, and after trying the food and feeling the vibes, I could see why. Intimate, but casual environment with friendly service. The lighting is spot on: not too dark, not too bright. We shared the meatballs and the osso bucco and a bottle of wine. The osso bucco was probably among the best I've had. The wine list is quite extensive and you can find some pretty good values. I like it here so much I tried to get back in the following night. This is rare for me. When I'm away traveling for work, I always try to hit different spots, but it was that good. Unfortunately for me, my luck ran out. They couldn't even squeeze me in at the bar.

As soon as you walk in you're greeted with a smoked wood smell. The tagiolini with fresh blue crab and gelati were the highlight of our meal. I high encourage you to try both if you ever find yourself here. We also had 30 day dry aged porterhouse and the 20oz bone in center cut filet. Both were good, personally I preferred the filet. Everything else was okay. Service wasn't great either, our waiter wasn't very attentive.

Ridiculously hot inside. I considered walking out at multiple points because I was drenched in sweat during the whole dinner. My clothes were soaking wet and I'm a woman. It also took the waiter 20 mins to take one drink order, we had to flag down a different waiter altogether to order drinks because ours ignored us.

Enjoyed an amazing birthday dinner here. We were seated next to the fire which was nice cozy ambiance. Garlic bread was a great start. The gnocchi pasta was to die for!!!! Roasted chicken was pretty solid. Their panna cotta was the perfect ending to our meal, I prefer it over the tiramisu. Service was excellent.

Came here with some friends and ordered a bunch of stuff on the menu. While we enjoyed everything, there definitely were some standouts, namely the pastas. I loveddd the Frutti Di Mare and the Blue Crab Pasta. Sometimes Frutti Di Mare can be a bit "fishy" but Red Ash's was a 10/10. I absolutely would get it again. The Blue Crab Pasta was also a 10/10. So perfect. The Osso Buco was good but for the price, I would probably venture elsewhere on the menu.

We finally got a reservation to dine at Red Ash! Let me tell you this, it was eventful. We ordered the following items and I've listed my opinion of these items line by line. HOT AND CRISPY COUNTRY ITALIAN BREAD ( loved it) *SQUASH BLOSSOMS ( loved it) OCTOPUS A LA PLANCHA (loved it) WILD RED SNAPPER A LA PLANCHA "LIVORNESE. (Liked it) OSSO BUCO MILANESE (loved it) TAGLIOLINI WITH FRESH BLUE CRAB (loved it) CHARRED SWEET CORN RISOTTO "GRATINATA ( liked it) I started off with moscato it was delicious and honestly I'm pissed I didn't just order a whole bottle. Do not make the mistake I did.... Just get the bottle. The mood, food, service and decor of this place is a vibe. I enjoyed all the aspects. Now let's get down to why this experience was eventful. During the meal I saw something fly by. "Fly" as in a bird flew by. I thought I was seeing things. Nope, I did indeed see a pigeon fly by the table about 3 times. It did not land on my table but it did land on the railing near a table 3 table tops away. After a couple screams the bird landed in a ceiling area. Since we were dining on the 2nd floor we had a good view of it. We became fascinated concerning where the bird would go next. We took a few pictures of it; tried to get a video of it in flight. I think we missed out on that. We did notice the bird kept turning around. It did in fact poop on the table below where a couple was having drinks. They were promptly moved to another area in the restaurant. Our waiter kept tell us this sort of thing never happens. I don't know if that is true. It was our 1st time visiting.

Ask the Community - Red Ash

Does red ash allow dogs to?

    No they do not.

Does anyone know when they might reopen?

    S Y asy

Do they take walk-ins or is it reservations only?

I think you could possibly walk in, but they are usually booked 2+ weeks out. Best move is to get on the stand by list on open table in case someone cancels.

Does Red Ash have valet parking?

Sometimes, but there's a public garage around the corner that's usually no more than $10 too.

Is there an email address to contact this restaurant at for large party reservations etc?

Does Red Ash allow you to bring wine? If so, what is the corkage fee?

    Outside wine is not allowed.

    What is "entree only"?

    It's entree only

Are kids allowed? What's the dress code?

Never seen kids but that's true of many Atx restaurants. That doesn't mean they aren't allowed. I'm sure they are welcome. Dress is however you want. Smart casual, shorts (on a hot day) or jacket would all be fine.

How closely are people seated? Is the space quite tight? I'm worried about proximity to others due to Covid.

Booths are okay but bar is not

Do they have Vegetarian pasta dishes?

I believe so. I'm not a vegetarian, but the bishops hats don't have any meat and are one of my favorite dishes.

How convenient is pick up? Is there parking in front of the restaurant to drop in and pick up our order or are we forced to park?

There isn't parking in front of the restaurant, y'all would be forced to park unless they have "curb-side" pick up. They didn't then.…

    Gluten free options?

The lady next to us was gluten free and the bartender was very knowledgeable about suggestions for her.

How much for parking and is it just cash or card as well?

Public parking nearby, or valet service in front of the restaurant. Complementary Valet: Always tip…

    Are you open for Thanks?

    Yes

Are the meatballs made with pork?

Yes, they have beef and pork.

    Is there gluten free pasta?

Yes freshly made every day from chickpeas flour.

I was glad we were seated outside though because even though it was a warm evening, their fans were very effective creating a constant gentle breeze. The music enhanced the experience with a fun and upbeat vibe. I truly felt like was sitting at club/bar/restaurant during a cool summer night in Greece! Just incredible. The staff were also great! Friendly and accommodating from the time we checked in for our reservation. Our server was super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful with my gluten sensitivity! The food was delicious too. Shout out to the chefs! The village salad (also reminded me of a traditional Greek village salad) was refreshing, the hot honey halloumi was like nothing I have ever tasted before, I regret not ordering extra to-go!, the Lamb chops made me feel like we were celebrating Easter - the seasoning was spot on and cooked to perfection, the Lamb and beef kefta with rice was also tasty, but the lamb chops are the clear winner. Don't forget to get dessert! If you have a gluten sensitivity like me, you are safe with the Pistachio Panna Cotta. It was a flavor high I didn't want to end! Lol. But seriously, it was super delicious, sweet, and just the right portion. Also FYI: we shared every plate. It's the way to go there, and I'm glad our server recommended that we order everything up front and they simply bring it out as each plate is ready. (Except for dessert and drinks - order those at the appropriate times of course). Speaking of our server, Lauren S, she was on it!!! Not only was she able to serve us and other tables extremely well, there was also a very large party of around 15 people next to us that she also served. Yet she always seemed to be around when you needed her and always with a friendly smile and positive attitude. Shout out to Lauren!!! You were amazing. Thank you for making our anniversary dinner memorable. Can't wait to visit Aba again!

There's access to the Music Lane underground garage (with a small validation discount from the restaurant) plus nearby paid lots and street options, but it can feel competitive and a bit chaotic, especially on busier evenings. Plan ahead or use rideshare if you can. Service was great--attentive and smooth throughout our meal with two adults and two kids. We ordered the whipped feta spread (excellent with the pistachios and oil; the house bread was a bit salty), Brussels sprouts (cooked perfectly), grilled chicken kebabs, the shawarma-spiced steak frites, and the grilled Branzino. The Branzino was the clear star of the show--flavorful and well-executed. The chicken and steak were mediocre at best. For dessert we shared the sticky date cake, which had a nice crunch outside and was warm and moist inside. It's a bit pricey (we paid over $240 for the four of us), but the setting, strong service, and that excellent Branzino make it worthwhile. I'd definitely come back.

I was a little apprehensive for a couple of reasons: 1-I don't eat seafood. 2-I'm often leery of corporate/chain-style places. *Yes, I go to them but often times not good experiences. Let me tell you something, my concerns vanished almost as soon as we walked in. My cousin made reservations and we were sat immediately. They were pretty busy however, we had such a lovely time that we shut the place down. We were there for almost four hours! It's easy to get lost in conversation with a good glass of wine (or a bottle + several glasses after that lol), good company, food, and a place with great ambiance. The ambiance was spot on. The decor and lighting are exquisite. I can see why so many people choose Truluck's for a special occasion or date night. It's upscale & magical. Truly a premium dinner destination. Service was incredible. Talk about premium...we were treated like royalty. Curtis went above and beyond for us. Such a nice & sweet guy. Even at the end of the evening when we shut the place down, the manager took pics of us on our behalf and chatted with us as well. He didn't make us feel rushed or that we weren't wanted there any longer. Food: We had sides for the table that included asparagus, truffle fries, Lyonnaise potatoes, and Parker House-style rolls. All delicious. I had the tomato salad (minus dressing) with black pepper & it was perfect as a summer main. It paired wonderfully with the asparagus & bread. My cousin had the filet mignon cooked at medium. I had a couple of bites and that was one delicious steak. Her daughter had the Ora King Salmon and she absolutely loved it. She said it was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. My boyfriend and my cousin's sister-in-law had the lobster bisque and they were in heaven. They couldn't stop talking about how good it was. Must have been because it had a strong lobster smell (remember, I don't do seafood). My boyfriend loves a good wedge salad so he had one with his soup. He was definitely jiving on its goodness. The sister-in-law had the jumbo lump crab cake and raved about the texture and flavor. As I mentioned earlier, the wine was flowing. However, I opted for still water with orange & lemon slices. We all had still with either citrus or cucumber slices. My boyfriend and I kind of shared a mini-Manhattan. By kind of I mean I had three sips. That was a proper Manhattan. Cheers to the incredible mixologists on staff. We rounded the evening out with two desserts for the table, Baked Alaska (see vids) & Key Lime Pie. Holy sugar were they good! I was pleasantly surprised by this experience and look forward to going back again. It's nice to be able to spend time with family in such a luxurious setting. Impeccable all around.

I'm actually kind of sad that I haven't tried this place out yet. It's been on my list for quite…read moresome time as I drive by every single weekend. finally decided to pop in and was able to grab a seat at the bar. The bar definitely had plenty of TVs, so if you're sports person. You could easily catch a game while here. One of the Table tents, notified guest of a happy hour for oysters, which I'm not an oyster fan, but hey to each their own. Had to try out the clam chowder and it was one of the best clam chowder I've had quite some time. You could easily taste the clams at a really nice consistency not too thin, not too thick and I didn't even have to add any salt to it. It was just really tasty. When the clam trotter was delivered, I happened to look at what other plates were on the serving tray ready to go out in one of them happen to be this phenomenal salmon dish. I asked the gentleman what it was and he said it was his favorite dish on the menu, so of course had to try it the salmon dish absolutely out of this world the glaze on it side. It came with it. Everything just fit really well together and y'all that plate was clean by the time it went back. This place is definitely on my shortlist as I really would like to try some of their other plates again that salmon and the clam chowder really made an impression and highly rate this place if you're looking for a good seafood place in Austin. The vibe of the restaurant was laid-back, but also very open, clean setting clean lines plenty of light and they even had really clean restrooms. The staff also was very pleasant and friendly with every one I interacted with.

They printed special menus without pricing because I wanted my parents to order whatever they wanted and not worry about it since I was treating them (they feel bad when I spend money on them). They had the special menus ready and an anniversary card already set on the table. They have a selection of NA drinks and also gave us a commemorative NA drink on the house since I told them before we arrived that no one drinks. These small touches made an excellent time a magical time. No wonder they are a Michelin starred restaurant! Everyone said happy anniversary to them and it was such a nice touch. We did the tasting menu and Im so glad we did! The highlights were: 1. Short rib 2. Caviar and cornbread 3. Scallop 4. Halibut Notable mentions: 1. Tuna 2. Oysters Everything else was delicious even if it's not mentioned above. The dishes played on many different senses and were very well planned, not only in execution but the order in which they were served. I think everyone should do the tasting menu at least once. The restaurant was filled but the noise level wasn't loud. They have valet parking on Friday and Saturday, which was very convenient.

You get to control not just how much food you order, but how long you spend enjoying said food. All while still get to experience what Hestia has to offer. What we had were all good, from the bread to small bite starters and the main, which was pork chop. The chop was done well, smoky and juicy - evidently achieved through their open fire method of cooking. The atmosphere was not too stuffy for a Michelin-starred place. Overall, we'd come back and stick with the à la carte option! The fact that Hestia is on the Chase Sapphire OpenTable list was also a nice incentive for us to use our bi-annual CRS OpenTable credit.

Our sever, forgive me I forgot her name it started with a G and she had an accent, was the epitome of what all servers should strive to be. She was attentive, helpful, friendly, professional, all of the above JUST AMAZING! We dined before a concert and let her know we were in a slight rush and she made sure everything came out coursed but not rushed. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS! The oysters and mignonette, steak sliders, truffle mac but omg that halibut stole the show! Mega hats off to the BOH staff, they killed it in every way. Also, if we were sharing and item the kitchen split and plated it for each us, HOW AMAZING! We couldn't decide between dessert since we were so full and short on time we picked the slightly quicker and smaller option; yet still our AMAZING server, G we'll call her, brought us a MINI bananas foster because she knew how much we wanted to try it but were scared of the portion size. I mean can you EVEN???? we felt SO taken care of by her and all other staff around us. everyone was moving with such grace and precision. I literally could not recommend this place enough!!! It's becoming our after work spot to grab a bite before going to a concert. I've still only gotten the Mini Filet Sandwiches which is center cut filet mignon on toasted brioche buns, Shaft's blue cheese, and onion Jam. I think I even got the same drink last time, the Spicy Margarita with El Jimador Tequila, Patrón Citrónge, fresh lime, jalapeño. It's so good! And the filet minon is $12 and the drink is $10. Even the free bread and butter is amazing sourdough with something added to the butter (maybe cinnamon, I'm not sure). We always just go casual and sit at the bar which is dark and moody but with friendly staff at the place that is typically a fancier dining experience. Go to their website and look at the whole menu for the Happy Hour which is 4p-6:30p every day of the week.
