My barber moved and I was looking for a new barber shop -- not a salon or a place staffed with stylists - I was looking for a real genuine barbershop staffed with real barbers. Checking YELP, I found Red Bank Barbershop was highly rated and the reviews included a lot of positive comments. So -- being a loyal Yelper myself, I figured my fellow Yelpers wouldn't let me down. I used their on-line app to see that the wait times were relatively short and it allows you to pick a barber. So, I picked a barber, signed in and headed for the barber shop. You need to "sign-in" when you arrive and service is still "first-come, first-served" but the on-line app is great for telling you what the wait times look like. As John (the owner) told me, the app is sort of like "driving by" to see if there's a wait - all from the comfort of your home. The wait was indeed short and the haircut was great. John asked questions to determine how I wanted it cut (I'm a pretty basic kind of guy when it comes to haircuts) and he cut it exactly the way I asked. It was a great haircut. This place is up the street from me. When I or my son need a haircut we likely go here. There are some great things to recommend the place: - Convenient location (for me at least!) - Great hours. In my head, barber shops have the least convenient hours of most any business. Closed weekends, Mondays, open 9-5 and so on. This place opens early, stays open on weekends and is generally pretty convenient. - Good facility. They have a good number of chairs, free donuts & coffee, complimentary wireless, a couple of TVs - what more could you want? - Short wait-times. The owner must be a techno-file. You check in via a MacBook. And the barbers call you up based on who's next on their iPads. This place runs efficiently, and I've never waited long. - Competitive pricing. Now for the bad: - The haircuts are just alright. My hair has been growing my whole life. I get it cut short, and I get it cut often. But IMO, there is one guy (the owner) who really cuts hair well here. The others are alright, but certainly not great. You stack up the good versus the bad, and I'm OK with it. None of the best haircuts I've ever had have been from here. But given all else it has going for it, I'm OK with that. read more

Good online check-in process I came here two weeks in a row for an upcoming wedding, on the first visit I got a cut, and then a week later came back to the same barber (Eric) to get a edge trim and beard cut. Noticed afterward I got charged for another full cut in addition to the beard trim, not happy about that...nor was I too happy that he took off way too much on the 2nd edging, should have skipped that visit. Will never go back to this barber shop. Basically a glorified Great Clips. In and out in under 10 minutes spent no time and attention to detail. Told them to fade the sides and back and leave the top longer and just trim it. Did the complete opposite of what I asked and now the top is really short. Your back is turned from the mirror the entire time and you can't tell what they are cutting until after your done. Also ruined the edges of my beard that I've been working on for 3 months. I took my almost three-year-old son here and my husband here to get their haircut a few weeks ago. They were fantastic with my three-year-old fun and he got a very cute little hair style. My husband saw different Barber and asked him for a haircut. Let me preface this that my husband had long hair and he was trying to shorten it and get us I'll put into it. At first after the cut was done it didn't look like it was going to look for a good. For some reason that guy had shaved off his sideburns without asking my husband when he was trimming the beard. After getting home and washing his hair and letting the natural curl and shape take into a fact the haircut looks really good. Overall though it was just weird that he cut that sideburns and it definitely changed the way that the haircut looks. We will definitely be going back I think my husband really likes his haircut. And I really liked my son's. My husband will just be sure to tell them not to cut his sideburns next time. The wait was a little long for the service. Took my son here to get a styled cut, which was going to mean he needed most off the sides and back but leave the length on the top alone. Every time I take him to Roosters they cut this style perfectly. I thought I would try here because of the ratings and the price. But I guess you get what you pay for. My son ended up walking out looking like nothing like what he asked for. The look is hideous. It looks almost like a bowl cut with horrible fades. Not to mention the fades in the back are uneven. The only thing he can do now is wait for it to grow out since on top of all that, they cut the top so incredibly short!!! Needless to say we will never go back. This will be my very first yelp review and the reason being is because of how frustrated I am at what took place this morning. I show up to this Barbers Shop and had checked in online 20 minutes before arriving. Other customers showed up after me and all of them received a haircut before I did. I did not even get a haircut because I had to be somewhere, but you would expect to be able to get a haircut after sitting at a shop for over 45 minutes! Went yesterday for a beard trim and would never go back. I asked for the lines to be cleaned up and even out the length, but don't remove any length except the sideburn area. The barber butchered it and removed a considerable amount of length all over. My cheeks went from an 8 guard down to a 3 at best. Very frustrating to lose months worth of beard growth. read more

Over the year I've witness the employees try their hardest to squeeze someone in because they had problems booking an appointment or didn't know about the process. Rather if they had an extra 7-8 minutes they would clean they're station quickly and thoroughly for the customer. They focus extremely hard on detail. I went in with a lot of hair not only due to coved but it's just how I roll. I don't normally have good experiences when getting my hair cut and this was no exception. Now I'm starting to wonder are they scared to cut off too much hair? I walked in had my temp taken and asked to ware a mask. Ok I get it. Sat down 15 minutes before my apt with I later found out was the owner. Told him what I wanted. Specifically 3 on the back and sides fade top a little longer than finger width. Don't fade the back to nothing. I hate for one they turn u so u can't see what they are doing. Ok so he "finishes" turns me around and asks me what I think. I tell him shorter on the top. My hair grows fast I tell him I won't bitch because it's too short. He takes some off the top. Asks me again and I say front is still too long so he cuts some off just the front hair line. And asks me again. I say it's still too long so so he says ok I'll thin it some. Asks me again. I say I think it's still to long and he says it's even so I say I'll just have my wife fix it when I get home. He says he wants it to be right. I say I think it's still too long on the top but I did not want to argue. He said it's even. Took off my apron and told me 21 dollars. I gave him 40 told him to give me 15 back. Don't ask me why I tipped I should not have. I proceeded to tell him that I just had my worst hair cutting experience of my life and he told me thank you I appreciate it. I was like what? Couple of guys there offered to fix it as I was expressing my disgust. Kind of got the door slammed in my face when I did not agree to let them fix it and was voicing my aggravation. Had to walk back in and explain that telling me he appreciated it was not the right response for me having the worst experience in my life getting my haircut and I expected an apology and he finally apologized. Needless to say I will not be going back there. He almost got my haircut right But certainly doesn't know how to handle an upset customer. read more

I was super anxious to get my 3 month COVID quarantine haircut! I'm a female, wear it short and usually go to another local barber who has not been able to open up yet. Dana did a wonderful job cutting my hair back to the short "wash and wear" haircut I love. I was SO excited to finally get it cut, it didn't really occur to me until after I left the shop - why was a charged for a $25 senior women's haircut when I have less hair than my husband and it took less time to cut mine? Just because I'm a woman? I will be calling the owner to see if this is policy or an oversight as Dana only works part-time and asked for assistance from another barber for pricing. This has got to be my favorite barber shop in my entire lifetime. They open very early on weekends which is a plus for me. I can sign in on the touch screen, after a welcome "Hello", and make my way to the break station. Hot fresh coffee, and Schneider's bakery items. All complimentary. A couple of huge flat screens on the news and sports. Large selection of current magazines, and free wifi. Always conversations going on like regular barbers. It's a nice wide open space, where it doesn't feel like the barbers are bumping into the the chair next to them. Plenty of services offered(that's me getting the hot shave). I promise they use hot lather. I haven't found one yet that does not do the straight razor neck shave. I find that every one has listened, and executed to my specific direction. Women have also shared the space to get cuts done by their favorites. I did not see perms or hair dryers, but standard cut and style are the norm. Services are priced very right on the mark with the chain outfits. The only difference is they don't ask for your phone number, and bio. Checkout is a breeze with their iOS system. I've been looking for a barber since moving into the New Albany area, While there is another one that is actually in town New Albany (they are always packed busy), Red Bank has been the find for me. I've been back 3 times now and been cut by 3 different barbers, Dave the first time, one of the ladies the second (sorry I have forgotten your name), and Eric the third. I have been more than pleased with the cuts, and more importantly so has my wife! hehe The prices are more than fair, the banter is friendly and the location is a nice drive along the lake to get there.
