Excellent service. Relaxing atmosphere. Authentic food. The menu is not long and there isn't an extensive amount of options, but why would there be when the food they do offer is done so well. This bakery has a selection of breads, pastries, sandwiches, and coffees. While I didn't come for lunch, I did see some of the sandwiches and they looked superb. I came with the hopes of a relaxing morning with a coffee and pastry, and that's precisely what I got. The atmosphere is very chill and contemporary. Perfect for a date with a friend or a nice morning with a good book. The seating is a little uncomfortable, but they have patio space which is really nice for warm sunny days. They unfortunately only offer one roast of coffee on brew. The name escapes my mind of what they had, but it was decent. However, I would have preferred a darker roast. Now the pastries. These are the real deal. Magnificently crafted with a French flare. I was able to try the plain croissant and there danish of the day (peach). Both were excellent. The croissant was extremely flakey, but not overly buttery as some croissants tend to be making them greasy to the touch. The danish was a perfect balance of sweet and tart. If anything, I would have liked a bit more of the cream cheese component, but that is personal preference. Overall, an excellent bakery. One of my absolute favorite things on the planet is the chicken salad on a croissant at the Red Bench. I hesitate to say that aloud or put into Yelp for fear that you may realize the critical importance of this amazing perfect delicacy found in downtown Chaska and get there before me and cause them to run out before I make my trek down the hill. It's soooooo incredibly good. And then, you may ask yourself - do I need or just want the blackberry danish, or chocolate almond croissant or brioche as a dessert? Big fan! Twice now the bakery items have not disappointed! I've had the cookies and their croissants. Both items were delicious. The only drink I have personally had here is the chai latte, both hot and iced. The inside of this location is also super cute with ample seating! Bonus: There is a cheese shop in the back! We had lunch here on March 2, on a whim, and I chose the chicken salad on a croissant with a salad (other option was chips). The salad was a mix of delightfully fresh greens with a light vinaigrette. I savored the chicken salad. The croissant was perfectly buttery and flaky and the chicken salad had an added nice crunch with nuts on top. We met family here. After you order at the counter, they'll deliver it to your table. My husband and I each had a coffee. I ordered a latte with a vanilla shot! It hit the spot and I'd wished I'd ordered a larger one when my cousin whipped out a bag of cookies to share for dessert. We sampled a spice cookie and a chocolate one that was so dense it was almost like a brownie. I'd definitely go here again. I hear they're opening a location in Excelsior. This is simply the BEST place to get fresh baked goods. Yeah, they have a location in Excelsior but at the Chaska location, you are standing about 20 feet from the oven. This place is getting better with time. When I first went they were consistently out of everything. That's gotten slightly better (or I've figured out I need to come early). Menu rotates nicely with new options. Sandwiches are good and have a nice variety. Bread is amazing. Treats are all generally good. Quiche is good and I don't usually go for that. Portions are big. You can probably share a sandwich and a treat. Worth a try. Be mindful of the time of day you go and what might still be left in the bakery. read more

I am a Chaska local. My husband and I love taking a walk downtown Chaska and frequently visit The Red Bench Bakery. I personally have loved their cinnamon rolls and have had one of my favorite blueberry muffins there. I have enjoyed their french vanilla latte and like to drink it by the cozy fireplace or take it to go. I've seen many families of small children feel comfortable here. They do provide booster like chairs for the kids too. The volume level is perfect for chit chat but is usually buzzing with great energy. A little birdie told me that the owner had studied 10 years in Italy and will regularly post on Instagram opportunities to preorder a hot pizza to be picked up that weekend. A good time later, this place has really grown on me. I think when they initially opened everyone was expecting something a little different, but now I don't think anyone is complaining. For about the past year my wife and I have been coming here at least once a weekend. We've both come to enjoy it. It's a very popular spot now so go early on the weekends. Just a note, it gets very loud in there...lots of hard surfaces for noise to bounce off of. Everything about Red Bench is good. It's locally owned in Chaska and Excelsior and the people are fantastic and service is awesome. The bakery is off the chain , it's by far the best bakery in the west metro. The Cinnamon rolls the coffee to the soup and sandwiches. I haven't had a bad one yet. The quiche is also to die for omg so good it comes with a small salad. I suggest trying everything it's so so good here! Stop in you won't be disappointed. Red Bench scores big time. This is a surprise in the heart of downtown Chaska. The bakery case it the main star of this place, however do not over look the cheese case that is tucked back in the building. Every item I have gotten here from an Almond Croissant to the Rye Sourdough, is the best I have ever had. It pains to back back to sliced beard after have one of their loafs. Great little bakery just opened on December 26, 2017! They have a great selection of pastries, breads, salads, sandwiches and (in the next few weeks) home made ice cream! Quality is great. Service is fantastic (but only speaking for the first day), staff goes out of the way to help folks including the senior crowd - they were incredibly accommodating to a nice old lady next to me in line with a cane. The new interior is a modern country chic, clean and tasteful. Will have to come back for more. read more

Joined in the fun of Red Bench's pizza night on Sat and boy was it fantastic!!! Had 3 pizzas for family of 4 and had leftovers. Bought a margarita, pepperoni and a mushrooms and goat cheese. To my amazement, the best pizza is the bunch was the mushroom and goat cheese ... it was amazingly flavorful, with subtle sweetness of cooked onions and creaminess of the goat cheese. I normally don't go for that but my son wanted a pizza with mushrooms ... and I am so glad we went for it. The pepperoni was great with crispy pepperonis and just the right amount of cheese. The margarita pizza came in last, it was good, but, would have been great with just a little more sauce. Overall, I would highly recommend trying out their pizza night!!!!! Experienced sub-par food and terrible service multiple times. The front staff are always friendly and accommodating, although not completely knowledgable. Once I had asked for my bread to be sliced and was told they won't do it because it's bad for it to be sliced. LOL. What is bread, if not sliced? On another occasion I came in to try their cold press and it was horribly bitter and not strained properly. Again, trying to give them another chance I came in a third time and ordered a latte. After watching it literally fall out of the machine like piss (not pulled from the machine like espresso traditionally should be) I quickly asked for something else. I even apologized for my change of order and tipped them extra for the mistake of ordering a latte. It seemed incredible to me that a bakery claiming to serve french pastries and breads could not get these things right! By the way, it's pan au raisin not raisin danish. If you're going to name everything else in your bakery by the correct french name, at least get this right. And please for the sake of all humanity fill your brioche with custard or lemon cream NOT raspberry fluff. I don't know what else to call it but it tasted like a fruit salad stuffed in warm bread gone terribly wrong. Their pizza is okay but nothing to rave about. The owners especially have repeatedly been less than enjoyable. Every time I have been here there has been an issue. Wether it be with their coffee, pastries, or dining experience. Every time the owner Andy has been blatantly rude and unwilling to be accommodating. After multiple failed attempts we will not be returning and will warn others not to waste their time or money here. It is better spent somewhere else. read more
