I saw they had breakfast all day but ended getting a shrimp burrito which I thought was really good for the price. The shrimp were normal size and there was a good amount. Both were really good and mine came with my choice of corn or flour tortillas-- I chose the flour tortillas and they came all hot and soft wrapped in foil. In my opinion, GREAT for hangovers. I ordered the chilaquiles (based on several Yelps) and I did not regret it. It hit the spot perfectly. It came with a side of (liquified) beans, guac, and sour cream. I just sort of dumped everything together and ate it all up. Service here was prompt and friendly. The food was delicious. The hardest part was deciding what to order. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely try the plantains that so many people raved about. The only thing lacking was that this place wasn't quite as inexpensive as lots of people claimed. Best breakfast in the Mission District. It was my first time coming to this place and I am very glad I spotted this place from a distance. I was originally headed to a local taco shop when I spotted this place on the way. Saw a line outside so I decided to stop by and check it out. Best decision I have made on this trip so far. This brother (David) makes a MEAN cappuccino! I gauge my caps on a 0 to 5 scale (do they make me feel like I did when I had my very first in a street cafe in Paris?) This is a sturdy 4! Perfect foam, no sugar necessary (that's saying something for me) and strong enough to know I'm drinking coffee. Ok, lets talk grub. I came here ISO gluten free breakfast options (sister really wanted pancakes) but when I saw the plantanos con casamiento I knew I'd be okay. I had my eggs scrambled with mushrooms and they were moist and fluffy. No salt necessary (you see I judge my food by how much stuff I have to add to it) and the plantanos and casamiento were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Friendly and attentive service (y'all need to tip people right when they are good to you) in this family style corner spot. Clean, comfortable spots to sit (booth) and relax while enjoying your meal. Good music on the radio (mix popular, I'm too old to know any of the songs but I didn't feel the need to put my headphones on so that's a good sign. A group of friends and I ordered food to be delivered to ICU hospital personnel at San Francisco General in April 2020 during the Covid-19 quarantine. Red Cafe was amazing, from Sofia who took my order to Eddy who confirmed everything and then David (I think that's his name?) who made the delivery to the hospital. We ordered 20 breakfast burritos (five sausage, five bacon, five vegetarian and five vegan) plus fresh-squeezed orange juice and the hospital staff loved everything. Red Cafe was super efficient in taking the order and working with all the people who called in with credit cards to pay and just being on top of things in what was a very odd situation, especially since I was trying to coordinate everything from out of town. 10/10 would order from them again. Two Spanish speaking women came in 5 minutes after our two top did and they had their drinks in hand and orders taken before our drinks were delivered. Like I said, the food was good.. I had the super burrito and it was so tasty, contained nothing but fresh ingredients but when it was rolled, the cook put her finger through the tortilla so when I ate it, it split and fell apart. While our 30 minute wait today (a Sunday morning around 11:00am) to be seated was a drag, the meal hit the spot! This is my favorite breakfast spot in San Francisco!! I found this place because I was hungry prior to a job interview nearby, and since I first walked in I fell in love! Since then, I've only ordered the Platanos con Casamiento because this is all I need. It's a small humble diner, and often times there is a wait outside, but the wait isn't very long. Due to its small location, there is a small amount of employees, but they do a good job of checking in on you and getting you served in a timely manner. I noticed someone else complained about the beans in their review. That person clearly doesn't know beans. The refried beans here are amazing! I love that they are not super thick; these are easier to eat. Different cultures make their refried beans differently, and it's also dependent on individual family cultures as well. Some like their refried beans thick enough to form a ball, and some like it thinner in consistency. Even when I make refried beans they come out different every time depending on my mood and how I want them that day. Also, someone was attempting to degrade this diner due to its "quality" of food. This is a diner, not a Michelin star restaurant, so calm your bougie bootie down. Makes me mad when people try to rate humble establishments when they only go to expensive bougie restaurants. This review could easily have been more positive were it not for the attitude of the presumed owner. We came here for a Mexican style breakfast. The dish advertised refried beans - which is normal. We asked if there were other bean options and were told by the owner that there was not. The other order was for the breakfast burrito which was served with green salsa - and was actually pretty tasty - but we asked for the red salsa they had as an alternative. When we were served - a small ramekin of the red salsa was served, which we found out later we were charged $1.79. Had we been informed of the charge when we ordered it we might still have opted for it - but we should have been informed. We were also charged extra without notice for the chopped up pepper my wife asked to be added to her dish. Back to the beans - they were so liquid that it they seemed like the water remaining after boiling pinto beans. To add insult, the owner who told us there were no other options sat down right next to us with a plate full of plump beans. When my wife asked why she was told there were no other beans he smirked and gave no real answer. The food was not horrible - but not special enough to make up for the un caring customer service. Not terribly long for a 10-11 am brunch in SF The food here is good, but nothing that couldn't be made at home for a fraction of the cost. This is one of my go to places for breakfast because it's close to my house, the wait isn't too crazy, and it's consistently good food. The food isn't greasy and leaves you feeling full and satisfied. The hash browns are nice and crispy on the outside and the best part is the option to have tortillas instead of toast!
