We had breakfast here while staying in the area so it was a short walk from our hotel. We waited in line for a little bit before being seated. We ordered and our food came out pretty quickly. I enjoyed the food very much, it was very good. Our coffee was refilled often. The inside diner was an old comfort vibe. Overall a nice experience.

I love 24-hour diners and have been curious about this place for a while now. Dropped in on the Saturday evening of the Chinese New Year parade to get some food before watching the parade and our timing was perfect, because every seat in the house was taken except for the table that was just clearing as we walked in. It was a really busy evening for the staff, but they handled the crowd well and kept people moving in and out of the place pretty efficiently. But bear in mind that it's a pretty tiny restaurant and not ideal for groups larger than four. I ordered the tuna salad sandwich with a side of fries and also got a small bowl of their chili con carne on the side. The food came out fast, despite the sheer amount of activity going on in the kitchen, and I was pretty happy with my meal. Nothing fancy, nothing complicated -- just a good, basic tuna salad sandwich with celery, red onions, and mayo, topped with some lettuce and tomato. The fries were really good and had great flavor. The chili was just ok though. Certainly not the worst I've ever had, but was just kind of mid and forgettable. While I'd order the sandwich and fries again, I don't think I'd need to order the chili again. We were in and out pretty quickly. This is your typical no frills, straight forward diner experience, with breakfast and lunch available all day and dinner available from 5:00-9:00. There's a lot to choose from on the menu and enough to have me intrigued and wanting to return to try some other things. Recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

My daughter had a layover in San Francisco at the Westin St. Francis, and this was the closest spot within walking distance for breakfast--so it was an easy choice. This is exactly what you'd expect from a classic diner. The inside has that nostalgic, old-school feel, the service was quick and efficient, and the coffee was just good, no-frills diner coffee. I ordered an omelette and they followed my instructions perfectly--it was delicious and very filling. My daughter had the huevos rancheros, which tasted great but was definitely a bit messy to eat. Overall, it was a solid, satisfying breakfast that hit the spot. Nothing over the top, but exactly what we needed.

Great that its open 24 hours on the weekends. Got seated pretty fast but the diner was full and it took a while to order food. Some things got missed on the order. Orange juice is overly sweet. French toast was alright. Only 2 full pieces of bread. Bacon and pancakes were great. After we finished our dinner, it took a long time time to see our server to be able to get the check.

for a 24 hour diner, the food here is pretty good. i like the chili cheese fries the most!! this place was right next to our hotel so it was so convenient to grab a late dinner. service is a lil slow but very friendly! i appreciate the staff and esp the 24 hour hours super casual diner. feels cozy and familiar. like you can spill all sorts of secrets with each other over there.

A late-night stop after the sparkle and drama of Moulin Rouge on Broadway--exactly the kind of night Pinecrest Diner was made for. I had the Pinecrest Burger, my best friend went for the patty melt, and both were pure comfort done right--simple, satisfying, and unmistakably good. The kind of food that grounds you after a long, magical evening. The diner vibe never gets old: warm lights, classic booths, and that timeless feeling that you're exactly where you're supposed to be. The staff, as always, were genuinely friendly and welcoming, even late into the night. This was my second time here, and Pinecrest Diner still doesn't disappoint. Reliable, nostalgic, and full of heart--one of those places that quietly becomes part of your city story.

TL:DR - order the club sandwich This is a seriously delicious sandwich. Probably one of the better clubs you will find. Service - when the Curran theatre is running best to get here early cause this place will fill up Pro tip - for 7 pm shows get here by 5:30 minimum.

Stopped by Pinecrest Diner after watching Paranormal Activity at the Toni Rembe Theater. We came in around 10 PM and it was already pretty busy. They're open 24 hours on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger, which I found was a bit bland. The mozzarella sticks were good though, just a little pricey. Overall, it's a solid spot if you're looking for late-night bites in the area.

Pinecrest is one of those few spots in SF which is 24/7. It's a very low frill classic diner in the heart of San Francisco. The decorations I ordered the Pinecrest Special and thought that the French Toast was executed pretty well. The scrambled eggs were a bit lackluster and there wasn't much behind the sausage and bacon. The portion size for the price is alright for San Francisco. The service was pretty efficient with not much else to comment on. Although there are better brunch spots nearby, I think Pinecrest would be a reliable option after a night out and would just be a nice place to chill with friends.

I have eaten at the Pinecrest Diner on numerous occasions and can't believe I have never reviewed them before. Usually this is my favorite breakfast spot near Union Square, and I've loved every breakfast I've ever had there. This was the very first dinner I've eaten there. I wasn't disappointed. My Reuben was perfect, the onion rings were surprisingly good, and the fries very good. The service was classic diner, only missing my east coast "hun". And the ambiance was pure diner - tables and counter seats, and a line that was often down the side of the building.

Came here on a Saturday night at 2am and it was a full house! Service was a really slow, flagged down the waiter a few times and were told someone else was servicing our booth and still had to wait almost 30 min. Otherwise food was still solid and hit the spot when nothing else is open/around Not in the best location, borders the Tenderloin!

I love the diner atmosphere when we went inside for a dinner meal! Everyone in their booths or at the diner aisle facing the counter looked to be enjoying the company and food. It is a really great spot to enjoy food. My boyfriend and I ordered breakfast of the eggs and toast and sausage and hash browns. We also got a side of fries with our chocolate malt drinks! Perfect blend perfect combination. My boyfriend ordered corn beef hash and I tried some and it was delicious! The sausage was a bit too spicy for my stomach to digest but it had so much delicious flavor! I gave it to my boyfriend to eat for me. The ratio of the butter on the sour dough toast was evenly balanced and spread! So delicious! Definitely want to make a come back! The servers were so attentive and kind. You pay for your meal up at the front afterwards!

This diner is amazing, good ingredients cooked right. The biscuits & gravy are some of the best I ever had . Gravy is perfect and the biscuits are delicious. My omelette was cooked perfectly. Will be back for sure, the sandwich's look delicious.

Probably! Most likely had to change their hours to accommodate for the pandemic. They are well known for being open 24 hours :)

The whole time our service was fantastic, it wasn't super busy so they were also able to give us a little history about Saint Francis fountain and the building. The space has that classic diner decor, fresh pothos cuttings at every table, I felt the good energy. The coffee was good, no frills diner coffee. Was this too much food for two people? Of course. When you look at this incredible menu, good luck choosing only 1 thing! The food came out hot and very big portions. The biscuits and gravy were perfect. The gravy was creamy with nice size chunks of sausages, cooked so well, sausage wasn't overcooked. The biscuits were so soft, buttery. The home style spuds were seasoned really well, paired really well with my eggs and biscuits and gravy. I was so happy. The sourdough French toast was so good. The fresh banana topping with walnut and a little butter in one bite, wow!! It was also done so well, sourdough wasn't mushy at all. My partner enjoyed their chef's mess. There was only one customer at the far end of the counter and now me. After 30 years, the original owners retired during the pandemic, and the current owners had taken the reins without skipping a beat. They're still serving the same combination of classic American diner fare and traditional Korean staples. Previously, my penchant for greasy spoons left me in a state of American isolationism. For example, a while ago, I had the $16.55 Tuna Melt on toasted sourdough with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and cheese. It truly hit the spot with a pile of krinkle fries thrown in for good measure (Photo 9). This time for the first time, I went fusion and finally ordered their signature $17.75 Hash Brown Sandwich with Dakgogi (Chicken).and Shredded Cheddar Cheese. It was a satisfying exercise in gluttony, for sure, with two eggs sunnyside-up and sourdough toast (Photo 10). I thought I wouldn't finish it. I thought wrong. Besides, it was a treat watching Young (the wife) cook it in front of me on the sizzling grill. FOOD - 4 stars...hash brown or not to hash brown, that is the question AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...dependably dependable diner SERVICE - 4.5 stars...mighty quick and friendly TOTAL - 4 stars...still the same greasy spoon from days of yore RELATED - Exploring the Sunset?
