This was actually our 1st time in a KOA and so happy we chose this one and this town! The town is a 1 traffic light town, small and down-home, the campground is just a few blocks from the downtown center and the entire campground was ready for tents, trailers, diesel pushers and even cabins that they rent. Pool and dog park were our 2 main choices for the stop, an awesome lake about 10 minutes outside of town for fishing, a great small town restaurant "Cowboy's Smokehouse" a couple of minutes away, antique shopping for those into that, just an overall perfect location in the heart of Americana! Sites are interesting in that they are "buddy sites" they door to door your campsite side to the next trailer, we loved it because we met the people next door much quicker that way. Also met everyone around us who were having a major cornhole tournament while we were there, they were fun, very open and great neighbors. I honestly was a little worried about the noise but that squad shut it down at 9pm and were quiet as a mouse, not that we really cared but their game was pretty intense for a while! Walked around and met a lot of the other people in the camp, a few full-timers and a few nightly space renters like us, really great ownership in a clean and nicely run camp.

There are a few things that give me an indication of a well-run park. 1) Friendly caring staff 2) clean well-manicured RV sites and 3) The facilities are clean, well-ventilated, i.e. smell fresh and operational. Henries Hitch n Post excels on all 3! If these items are in order, you can pretty much expect the hook-ups are in order as well and they were. A note. As far as facilities are operational goes, if the park has a laundry facility my experience is there tends to be some "out of order" machines the majority of the time. Not here! The laundry room has over 10 machines and 10 dryers (didn't count) and everyone one is operational. Wow! First rate. As for the human touch, its amazing. Our short stay turned into an unanticipated longer stay due to a family emergency. Immediately the managers Ed and Beth were on top of things to assist in helping me. The emergency required some family help and Ed and Beth made sure they could stay on site so we could be close together. My instructions from them were take what time you need to address your situation and don't worry about other things we got you. This amazing hospitality and concern for us was such a big help. I told friends and family about this and a common comment is small town hospitality. Yes, probably some of that but it's mainly Ed and Beth. That's the type of people they are. Warm, caring and sincere with big hearts.

Very clean, level site with artificial grass and picnic table. Laundry room was very nice and had a lot of washers and dryers. Super nice people!! They even took me back and forth to the laundry room in their golf carts because I had a lot of laundry. We loved the shuttle! With a park pass, you can ride it free. The shuttle stops at all the main sights within the canyon as well as the campgrounds & lodge. It also stops several places within the town. The RV sights were spacious with beautiful views. Trees in every space. They also offer tent camping & teepees. The community showers are locked with a code needed to enter as well as some of the restrooms. All were very clean & smelled good. The campgrounds also have a shuttle service that will take you to places on & off the campgrounds. They offer a reasonably priced laundry with needed supplies for purchase. The room was very clean & well kept. The dryers take quarters or electronic payments. Ruby's is more than just an Rv park with many activities & things to do. There is a cowboy town with ice cream & cookies. A general store with souvenirs as well as a good selection of groceries. We went to Ebeneezer Barn & Grill in the evening. The food was surprisingly good & we watched a Bluegrass band. I highly recommend this as a vacation spot for families!

We stayed at the North campground for three nights and then the overflow area for two. There are a few other camping areas as well, there is a south, and then at least two or three additional camping areas near by. I found them all when I got lost hiking around. The camp spots are not all created equal, some a far better then others, and without knowing the area first, you can't possibly know if your getting a quality spot. We reserved a space before we left. When we got there, we found that the place that we had reserved, did not have a flat space for a table next to the RV spot, we would have to hike up and down a little hill to get to a table every time we wanted anything. It just didn't work for our style of camping this time around. We spoke to the camps hosts and they let us switch spots to another open one with no problem. The next plot fit our requirements much better. Although its good to know that not all spots have a water spicket. Each lot does have a fire pit area with a flip style sort of grill, but no BBQ's. There are bathrooms, just toilets, the hand sinks don't work because they say they are trying to conserve water (although I just found that really odd, because I would just go to the spicket and wash my hands). The bathrooms are clean, and well maintained. Also, the lake was not very yielding. You had to throw back anything under 17", which was everything that was caught by my group. All in all, it was a fun, quiet place to go and I would recommend it to any outdoor lover. Next time I go, I will be tent camping and I will probably stay at the South campsite for that.

August 28-31, 2026 - Bryce, UT…read more We stayed in Loop A, and I think this was the best loop for proximity to everything. We could easily walk to the Visitor Center, shuttle bus stop, General Store, showers, and the Rim Trail. You're also very close to the 5-mile multi-use trail, which is very convenient for cycling or walking your dog. This campground is reservation-only, at least during high season, and it was completely full while we were here. It's a dry campground with no hookups, but there are several water spigots where you can fill your drinking water containers. These spigots get an award for best water pressure and fastest fill-up. The campground was super quiet at night, except for the sonic boom of thunder and heavy rain we experienced one night. This is a Dark Sky campground, so leave the solar lights and bright, shining decorations packed away while you're here. It's a great place to enjoy the night sky without light pollution. Loops A and B are designated for RVs, although we did have one tent camper next to us for a few days. Loops C and D are tent-only. I highly recommend making a reservation and staying inside the park if you're camping or RVing in the area. The convenience of being right in the park--and within walking distance of so many amenities and trails--makes it well worth it.

Staying in National Park campgrounds always seems like a hack to me - close to trails, affordable, and peaceful. Recommend Fairyland Loop for stunning views and fewer hikers, sunset point for sunrise (trust me) straight into the Queen's Garden to avoid crowds, and Bryce Point for sunset. Bathroom was clean, metal picnic tables. Quick drive to Sunrise/Sunset Points, I know the FCFS (first come first serve) tent only spots are closer, but I liked the certainty and peace of mind of a reserved spot.

We stayed at Bear Valley twice while traveling between Idaho and Arizona. The first stay was great…read more The facilities are clean and area is quiet. Our second stay was a disaster. Our dog, while on leash per the rules, was attacked by another camper's dog which was off leash and suffered bites. I reported the incident to the front desk. They gave us info on vets, but all were closed and none of the emergency numbers returned our calls. What was disappointing is that the front desk folks didn't seem the least bit concerned this happened and there were apparently no consequences for the camper whose dog attacked ours. I went out later that evening to take trash out and the camper had music going, was grilling, and his dog was outside off leash barking, like nothing even happened. Many campgrounds have zero tolerance pet policies. At Point of Rocks in Prescott, he would have been asked to pack up and leave. But not at Bear Valley. No accountability. No ownership. No consequences. So while we traveled over two hours out of our way, incurred as hefty pet bill and then traveled five plus hours home, this camper enjoyed his time at Bear Valley. So no thanks. I'll take my chances camping on the side of the road.

This guy was clearly perturbed that he was being bothered by the question. He did say we could have the weekly rate listed on the website; but his demeanor was a complete turnoff. Navajo Lake is a beautiful natural lake about 25 minutes from Cedar City, Utah. It's about 3 miles…read morelong when it is full. There is a dike that cuts off the shallow end of the lake when the water level is low. It's cold clean waters are fed from an underground spring. It used to be a great spot for fishing, but now it's just ok. Navajo is a great spot for kids, though. It is mostly hatchery fish with very little hold over fish. I have been catching a lot of chubs up there the past few years and that seems to slow the fishing down. There is a "hot spot" if you rent a boat. I don't need to tell you where it is, you will see all of the other boats there. It also has a bike trail that goes around the lake that seems to be pretty popular. Early morning and late night, a worm or power bait will do the trick.
