My experience here was overall pretty good. I came here for lunch on my 2 hour break, on a Thursday. It was pretty empty. I admit they do need some renovation on the inside of the restaurant, but that didn't really me too much. I'm here for the food. What really made me like this place is that the server suggested me a lunch platter which is cheaper versus me ordering off the regular menu. This is very thoughtful given that they could have just pushed me to order off the regular menu. It was a lot of food, for the price. I got the tikka masala chicken, the egg plant curry?, and the chicken. You get to pick 3 items and it comes with rice and naan! I unfortunately can't give this place a 5 star majorly due to the flavors of the tikka masala. It lacks a lot of flavor and can come off as watered down. Review is for take out food. We tried 3 things , bun kabab, tandoori chicken and Nihari. Bun Kabab wasn't bad but was not "karachi style " as claimed in the menu. It was basically an average shami kabab in a burger bun. Nihari was bad. Might qualify as a decent fresh beef stew, but it was not Nihari. Finally, tandoori chicken, it was very good. This is a Pakistani restaurant but uses Indian restaurant nomenclature. What they call tandoori chicken is actually a good old Pakistani chicken tikka and it's great. glad to find a spot that does justice to chicken tikka. These people are crooks. Last Sunday I ordered food online and they took my order, charged my card and who I went to pick up the food , they were closed for the day. They had a hand written sign saying they are closed because of a big cratering order. This is not the quality we once enjoyed. We enjoyed the food for several years, but now the people we used to know are gone, the prices are way up and instead of steaming hot food, you now get what is left over from the buffet unless you order something they haven't been serving all afternoon. And now they are going to offer pizza. $70.00 for a pickup order and waiting 30 minutes after calling it in. The green sauce was as thin as almond milk and zero taste. The food was cold and didn't taste fresh, for $70.00. The nan was cold and tough, overcooked, instead of hot and fresh. The cold buffet pans were sitting along the wall full of food and no one bothered to collect them. I like the food at Red Chili but I really have an issue with the interior upkeep & cleanliness of this restaurant. Interior: They have a beautiful chandelier with dust lined all over it. The couches and booths are scratched up with holes. They have cute couches in their patio area but even those couches are falling apart. The owners need to pay attention to the fine details to improve customer experience. Food: Pakistani food is similar to Indian food, with a bit more variety and use of different spices. I love that they provide each table with a yogurt sauce and a hot salsa. The portions are a bit too small here but somehow I get really full. Ordered Chapli kabobs but they were over cooked and burnt. These are the items I highly recommend: Naan- garlic naan, paneer naan (stuffed with cheese) are all great! One order is 4 pieces. And the naan are nice and thick. Biryani- this is fried rice mixed with meat and spices. My favorite is mutton or goat biryani but I recommend any flavor! Mango Lassi- I actually like their mango lassi here more than other places because it's the perfect amount of sweet, has a thin 'crema' like consistency, and isn't too mango-ey Nihari is better than Haleem. Both are extremely oily No to Chicken Tikka Masala- Indians make this a lot more sweeter and more orange. At Red Chili's this item was underwhelming. It didn't have enough flavor and the chicken was dry. Overall this is a pretty good place to eat and you get a variety of dishes & flavors. This was my local Pakistani Spot while I was in college. It's located in a weird parking lot but it's worth the trip if you're in the San Fernando valley. I am particular about Pakistani tandoori food, as I have eating it since I was a kid. Red chili is a good representation of it even though I've had better. That should not deter you from coming here at all, I'm just being objective. If you're new to Pakistani food, stick with the beef seekh kabob or chicken tikka. These two food are beef and chicken tandoori staples and in my opinion are a good segway into the food. If you want to try a gravy the chicken tikka masala is excellent. If you are a true foodie, I suggest you try the Paya as it's freaking delicious. read more

When it comes to Sindhi (Pakistani) style of biryani - this is my go to place. I've eaten in almost all the Indian restaurants around LA area and undoubtedly Red Chili beats them all by taste, quality, quantity and "they've managed to keep the flavors and spice levels legit" while the menu is very reasonably priced. All the other chicken and goat dishes served here are very rich and flavorful. I would give them 5 stars but I had to give them a star less due the service being little slow but the food definitely makes up for it. Recommend this place to every Indian food lover. Come here for the food, not the service. My mother, sister and I came for lunch one day and were seated immediately. A good sign, right? We had questions about the menu, but the guy who seated us didn't speak English so he deferred us to someone who was a manager or maybe even an owner. This manager seemed to be the only person on top of things. While the other employees just kind of stood around looking lost, he was running around answering phones and serving customers. After getting some assistance on the menu, we ordered and waited patiently for our food. In the meantime, two other tables were seated. While we merely received one dish, the other tables were severed several dishes. Perhaps they ordered ahead? Anyway, it took over an hour before we finally received our complete order: samosas, beef kebabs, eggplant biryani, lamb curry, and garlic naan. First, we bite into the lamb and notice that it's actually chicken. We tell the manager and he's like, "We ran out, I changed it and fixed the bill." Although still tasty, it would have been nice to be told beforehand, especially because we really wanted lamb and probably would have just canceled the order. The kebabs were really dry and had the consistency of falafels. They're personally not to my taste. The garlic naan was typical garlic naan. The eggplant biharini was amazing. I am typically not a fan of eggplant, but this one was so smooth and buttery and the flavor was fantastic. The only downside was that it was a tad too spicy. So by the time we finish what was on the table we're like "where are the samosas". Again, the manager was like "We were really busy this weekend and we're out completely." Red Chili Halal, your food is fantastic, but please communicate with your customers! Absolutely delicious! I am not a connoisseur of much Indian/Pakistani food but the food here is definitely pleasing to the pallet. I can't handle much spice so we usually order two Chicken Tikka Masalas, one mild and one either spicy or medium spice. (Found out today that it originally comes as non-spicy but every time we've ha it here they ask us what spice level... Just a side note). We order two orders of the same thing for just the two of us, it's THAT good! Their garlic naan is delicious and in my opinion perfectly cooked and I love garlic. Dip this in the Tikka Masala and you're golden. Haven't been here in a couple of months and their sauces have disappeared off the tables but they used to have this chutney(?) sauce and white sauce that were delicious. I'm waiting for my order now so I'll ask them for some to-go to see if try have it. Trying the Lamb Karahi today, hope it's just as good! And of course we have an order of the Chicken Tikka Masala, it's really difficult to get away from our regular orders when they are crave-a-licious! Really good Indian food. Had the chicken tikka masala which was great, but there were only like 8 pieces in it, and none of the dishes come with rice or anything else for about $10. My bf ordered the lamb vindaloo and it tasted great too, but he also ordered it to be extra spicy and it wasn't spicy at all lol. I guess we expected spicier at an Indian place, but disregarding that, it is still really good. We ordered some garlic naan and it was the perfect compliment to our dishes. I Love Red Chili!!! This place is my favorite Pakistani restaurant around that serves up excellent, flavorful, delicious Pakistani Cuisine. My absolute favorite is their Lamb and Chicken Biryani. OMG it's so good!!!!! I wish I could fly down right now to have some. I miss this place so much! Used to come here often when I lived in CA and wished they'd open a branch in NY. Though everything on their menu is delicious, nothing beats their Biryani! An absolute must! One recommendation though is that service could be a little bit better.
