Reading all the great reviews online, my date and I decided to have a burger at the Red Cow. We will not be back. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. We ordered 1 app, 2 small beers, and 2 burgers. After the tip, we walked out having paid $70. If you're a foodie and cook well at home, this place cannot possibly live up to one's expectations. The food is oversalted, over greasy, and overpriced. If you really have a hankering for a burger, go to Smashburger. You'll save a bundle and enjoy a better product. read more

They have a pretty good winter outdoor patio situation now, with heat lamps and access to their delicious food and beer menu. I really enjoy Red Cow and had a lone tear freeze on my cheek when I found out they weren't open this one Monday when I wanted to meet up with some friends I haven't seen in a while. This is one of our all-time favorite spots. Great food and awesome beer selection. Their burgers are hard to beat. They also do a great job preparing gluten free food in a way that's safe for severe celiacs. Exceptional menu selection and definitely recommend the chicken wings all varieties of sauces are delicious. Also another favorite for me is the Nashville hot chicken it is sandwich which for some reason was not obvious to me when I ordered it but it was damn good. Minus one star for closing so early. Came here for the first time with a friend who lives in the neighborhood. Food and drinks were delicious! I ordered the Japanese sticky wings to share, and ended up taking most of them home, they were amazing! I also got a salad and a Moscow mule. We got a cozy booth in the back, it was quiet and dim and very easy to carry a conversation and enjoy our meal. I will definitely be back! read more

Wow. The food was delicious, the waitstaff was awesome...and after all that they offer a military/veterans discount of 50%!!! As a dual veteran family of 4, we were blown away at that. Been to this place many times. Food was good, service was not. We were told it would be about 50 minutes for the wait and it ended up being 20 minutes and since we weren't there within 5, they booted us off the waitlist and when we came back we had to start from the bottom. Pretty ridiculous and then it was slow and food was not as warm as it typically is. read more

Our experience with the twin cities has has been nothing but positive. Jaron, our server, was amazing. Nice, helped us pick things, picked some beer samples for us. Checked this place out after looking for a new place to dine. We walked in the same time as another couple and they were greeted and immediately seated. After which we stood there for 5 min while the host was complaining about some lady blaming him for their messed up delayed to go order he carried on and on and was looking up but apparently didn't notice the party of 4 standing there waiting patiently. When he finally did he said "oh! Can I help you?" So I am going to side with the angry patron that we heard so much about. We ordered the Scotch eggs as an appetizer they were delicious and the mustard dipping sauce that came with it was amazing. Hubby got the Manhattan 2.0 with crinkled sweet potato fries. He still hasn't shut up about it. I had a bite and it was amazing and for 17 dollars (not including the fry $ upgrade) it better be. The cranberry chutney was delicious. I had the patty melt as recommended by our server with sweet potato fries. It was good but not the best I appreciated that unlike most patty melts the bread wasn't greasy. My husband also had the handcrafted ginger beer and it was delicious as well. I think my only disappointment was that my 5 year old's kid size ginger ale cost 3.25 while the 5 oz beer I ordered cost 2.50. I am still unsure with how I feel about the MV surcharge they implement. As it was explained to us by the manager it is there instead of raising food prices. They are just outwardly charging you more in plain site versus hiding it in the price of the food but as I mentioned my husbands burger was 17 dollars not including the fry upgrade. Have dined at red cow for several years and just getting to review now. The highlights are the crazy unique burgers, apps, and large rotating tap beer and bourbon selection. Ahi tuna crisps, hummus board, puffcorn, and Japanese sticky wings are some of the best apps. Any of the cab burgers are excellent, and they will make them rare upon request and come with excellent fries and unique ketchup and sauces. Expert tip is to split a meal with your partner! This allows you to try more things, abd you often end up with more meal in total and can even accommodate different cooking instructions on the split at no charge (think how you want an egg and burger cooked). Portions cab be fairly large. Have also been here once for brunch. Would recommend the chillaquiles, red flannel, bloody Mary and cold press coffee. Or ask if there is a coffee stout nitro on tap. Great local spot, great to have this gem in the neighborhood instead of costellos. read more

Just as I move out of the neighborhood, I'll finally review one of my favorite spots. Red Cow is a staple in Cathedral Hill, with really solid items on the menu. The cheese curds are perfection (and this is coming from a Wisconsinite!), the ahi crisps are an ideal summer appetizer, and the double barrel burger is the best damn burger I've possibly ever eaten. Even my veggie friends like coming here, as they have an extensive vegetarian/vegan burger menu! Also highly recommend the Red Cow salad- it's a little Italian inspired fat-heavy salad, lots of nuts, oil, and prosciutto! So, so good. Finally, the truffle-parm fries are not an option, you MUST get them. The perfect amount of truffle, not overpowering, but the flavor is a dream. In my opinion, the brunch here isn't anything too special, I've had a few things and while everything tasted good, it wasn't really anything I'd shout out in a Yelp review. I really have loved living nearby Red Cow and eating there many, many times. If you go during peak hours, there will be a wait, but it's worth it. read more

It's the best burger I've had in the Twin Cities in 10+ years. Why even comment on the cocktails, brussels, or service after that? Go! If you need more: The cocktail and craft beer lists are good (4). Some are great choices, like the Cold Brew & Tonic. Just as gin is an acquired taste, this will take a few good sips to acclimate (5). We spied some nice wines too. The pistachio covered brussel sprouts with creme fraiche are an easy five (5). Service was attentive and seamless - we got a fries swap of beer cheese soup (5) but we publicly debated getting a second cup. Server brought one on the house (4.5). My family brought me here. They'd been before and talked it up, but I had never been! I was happy they exposed me to Red Cow! To start, we ordered the Surly Beer Cheese and Pulled Pork Poutine! Either I was starving, or they REALLY hit the spot. It was probably a bit of both! They were gooey and flavorful, especially the pulled pork on top. Though, for the diehards, this isn't really poutine. It's fries with cheese and pork on top. Just so you know what you're getting into. For my meal, I ordered the Blended Burger which had mushroom mixed into the burger and it just... wowed me! I have been a bit "over" burgers for awhile. It takes a good burger for me to be happy with it, and this one I really enjoyed. I had the sweet potato fries on the side, I enjoyed them, but they were nothing special. To finish, we had Sticky Toffee Cake, which was apparently new to the menu and it was GOOD. So good, we were a bit surprised by all our first bites. Order this if you go. I made Easter brunch reservations for my family of 5 for 9AM. It was a special brunch at $23 per person and it was a four course brunch. Unlimited family style serving plates. First course was Wuollet's pecan caramel sticky buns, Greek yogurt, orange-honey fruit with housemade granola. Second course was smoked salmon scramble with dill and creme fraiche, blueberry banana pancakes, and a platter of bacon, sausage, and ham. Third course was an Arugula salad, braised short-ribs, cheesy hash browns, and mushroom ravioli. Fourth course was a giant slice of carrot cake. Also serving up bottomless mimosas, beermosas, and bloody mary's for $13. All of this food - unlimited portions, plus every single plate of food was so decadent and amazing, I was astonished at the low price for all of this great food! What a feast! The wait staff really showed up Easter wise! They were all dressed in pastel button up shirts with professional, stylish ties, some even died their hair in all pastel colors for the event! Did I also mention that everyone who worked here looked like they walked out of a fashion magazine? Whoever the chef was, did such a stellar job on the food - I had zero complaints. To do that great of a job on such a massive scale is very difficult - but they pulled it off and they made it look like it was no sweat! It felt as if they were doing brunch every weekend, but unfortunately, they do not. I told them I would be coming back for sure for other food! I really wish they would do weekend brunches more often or at least once a month! There's a reason why this place booked up fast for reservations - the food, service, and environment was A+ 5 star. Round 3 of the search for the best burger in the Twin Cities: the Barcelona Burger. It was only ok. It was cooked to temperature, sizeable patty with a good amount of fat and flavor. However, the manchego took over in a negative way. It tasted musty and almost like a blue cheese instead of manchego. It overpowered the piquillo pepper and prosciutto. I don't even remember the aioli on the burger at all. The star of my night was the Ancho Margarita. Just the right amount of heat without being too hot. Bar service was also great with friendly and fast bartenders. For a Friday night, it was busy but not so busy I couldn't get a seat and quick dinner. Called the restaurant and the manager said we could come pick up the entree ourselves, which negates the reason for door dashing in the first place. The chicken wings did not have much meat on them. I don't do 5* often, but sometimes you have a dining experience that leaves you supremely satisfied. Our waiter was attentive and nice. Our food was amazing. Everyone at the table had an amazing time. I just can't be happier right now. I had the Barcelona burger. Cooked perfectly. Fries were perfectly cooked. 1 complaint, I want more of the pepper. That is just my preference. Daughter had the calamari tacos. Mom had the steak Ceasar and the other guy had the burger with pork belly. Everyone was happy. We got the brownie Sunday for dessert..... I'm not a chocolate fan, but hot damn. The ice cream and whipped cream on it were fantastic. The caramel with a touch of salt was amazing. I didn't eat the brownie, but it looked OK. I went here with expectations of having a wonderful juicy burger on a beautiful gluten and dairy free bun,, well , thats not what happened, turns out their gluten free buns are not vegan or dairy free so buyer beware! Most gluten free breads and buns are also dairy free everywhere else except here!!! :-( I had to order my burger with no bun wrapped in lettuce! If I wanted a salad I could have stayed at home and made a salad! Also ordered my burger medium well and it came very rare! eww! Be careful if you order any vegan sandwich or burger as the buns are certainly not vegan or dairy free! The service was attentive and the food was delicious, per usual, which you can't ask for much more than that!
