Red Door Escape Room is located in the outdoor plaza area of the Promenade Temecula shopping center. Don't make the mistake of looking for them inside the mall. There is a three-story parking garage right around the corner from their location. Once your book your game, you can sign the waivers online in advance to save time when you arrive. True to their name, to get to the entrance of your escape room, your game master will first lead you through a tall red door with trees on it which is framed by a golden arch. It is a great way to immerse you a bit before you even get into your room. There are lockers inside to store your belongings. We did the Fair Game room which has a carnival type theme. The room has a few combo and key locks, but many of the puzzles are physical or mechanical carnival style games, which was different and cool compared to the average escape room. The room was a mix of linear and non-linear. Even with only two of us, we split up at times to work on different puzzles. This room requires more teamwork than most that we have done before. Help is requested by pushing a red button by the entry door, and hints are then given via text on a TV screen. I had read on Morty that one of the puzzles in this room gets stuck periodically, and indeed it happened to us also. However, our game master came in quickly to resolve the issue and gave us extra time to make up for the mishap. There was one other puzzle that also needed some coercing. Overall, the room was really fun, and definitely a challenge. Our game master Miguel was excellent. He was fun and enthusiastic as soon as we met him, and he was very timely with hints when we asked for help. We were so close to finishing the room when the clock was about to run out, he gave us a few extra minutes to secure victory. Thanks Miguel! Their prices are very reasonable at $39 per person, no matter how many people are in your group. Most places charge extra if you only have two people doing the room. They also have a 20% discount if you play another room the same day, or book a future date after finishing your room. They have a total of six rooms at this location with a good variety of themes. They also have other Red Door locations in California and other states. We will definitely try more rooms here when in the area.

My wife and I booked Fair Game for 11/2, and it was a great time. Everything that I expect in an escape room. Our game master Ashley was upbeat, friendly, and helpful. We are looking forward to our next room.

Actually pretty impressed with this place! Ashley was awesome and the escape room we did (Confinement) was challenging ... the props and ambiance were great compared other ones we have tired. It was fun :) thank you. Will be back!!!

This is my second room I've done at this location and I had so much fun. My friend and I escaped Once Upon a Time with the great hints provided by Avery. She was our Game Master and was full of energy and very encouraging. I can't wait to go back!

Very kid friendly, which is what we were looking for! My 8-year old wanted to do an escape room for his birthday but didn't want a scary one and I wanted to make sure he was able to participate in the puzzles. This checked all our boxes and everyone had a great time!

    WE ESCAPED!!!!

Are all bookings private or will random people be in our game?

    All bookings are private.

So, what is an escape room? It sounds intriguing.

An escape room is a hands-on entertainment experience in which groups of 2 to 10 people are locked in a series of rooms and have 60 minutes to figure out puzzles, hints, and clues in order to escape. All of our experiences are fully immersive with… Read more

We are two for two when it comes to enjoying MindTrap escape rooms!…read more My fiancé, my parents, and I tried out the Excalibur escape at MindTrap's Murrieta location earlier this year, and we really enjoyed it! For that reason, we decided to go with them again the next time we were looking for an escape room for a large group. This time, we selected the 40 Thieves escape at their Temecula location for our group of eight. You can secure the room with two tickets, but we bought six tickets in advance because we knew we would at least have that many. We added the last two right before our start time of 2:30pm day-of. Then we read and signed the waivers on our phones. As before, it was super easy and can be done ahead of time or when you get to the location. Just keep your start time in mind when you're heading over, there may be people waiting to escape after you!! Our group had varying levels of escape room experience, with three people who had never been to one before, three people who had been once previously, and two people who had been to several. We were fortunate enough to have Kadence as our game master, and she was super sweet! Great at her job, and great at making us feel welcome (and not dumb at all lol). We did have to ask for a few hints, and I noticed that we did get a little extra time added on at the end so that we'd be able to finish. Super sweet of her to let us finish!! Kadence told us the 40 Thieves escape is currently MindTrap's most difficult, as it has the most puzzles to solve. They suggest 6 players for this one, but can fit up to 10. I'd say 8 was fun for most of the escape, but the room with the final puzzle definitely had "too many cooks in the kitchen" energy. There was a nice mix of puzzle types so it seemed like everyone had their chance to figure something out. We finished up at the end by taking a group photo with props we liked, thanks to Kadence again for being our photographer! Love this fun keepsake from the experience. My family loves MindTrap and we will continue to book escapes with them until we've done all of them! I'm hoping we can try to do two escapes a year from now on.

She didn't rush us out at all (as some escape room places do), she was extremely patient and kind, and she went over all of the clues that we didn't get to solve when our timer ended. My boyfriend and I spontaneously booked "The Doghouse" and I believe I spoke with her on the phone as well before booking and she was just as sweet as she was in person. I absolutely loved the creativity and complexity of the puzzles and the room/props were of high quality (and not old or overused like some places, lol). Her customer service was definitely top notch - my boyfriend definitely made sure to tip her, lol. Will definitely be back again to solve another room soon!!! This room does start you off blind folded and in separate rooms, but you quickly reunite to solve the rest together. Nothing was overwhelming or too difficult in this 8/10 room. They leave you a lot of great clues to keep you on the right path. My group of 4 finished with 13:25 remaining in our hour. I feel we could have done a little better but we never felt rushed. There are a LOT of combo locks! Looking forward to coming back and trying the other rooms!
