Oh yeah! This is the good stuff! Was going camping at the beach a few weeks ago and didn't want to smoke the ribs in the cold/wet. I had been hearing about Red Eye locally and thought I would give them a try. I ordered in advance - I had heard they sell out fast if you don't put in an advance order. Pick up took longer than seemed reasonable for an advance to go order, but zero complaints about the quality of the food! I got two racks of pork ribs and they were spectacular. The other stuff e saw them putting out looked really good too. I normally smoke my own meats, but it is great to have someone local that does such a good job. Now I have a place I can go to when I don't have time to do it myself. Everyone who tried them loved them- including a friend who was a chef in New Orleans. I think Red Eye are the best thing going around here for real BBQ (by a good measure). If you haven't tried them yet, get over there! You are in for a real treat! read more

While the food that I ordered (or at least got of what was available) was objectively delicious and seasoned wonderfully, my experience of ordering and waiting was dissapointing and overall ruined my lunch. *PS I ordered under the name Zed if you see this review. There was already quite a line by the time I came in around 12:40 and was eager to try everything after reading the amazing reviews. I decided to order all the cuts except for short rib (they were sold out) and the chicken. As I am placing my order, I see some miscommunication between the chef (Bob I believe) and the person who took my order, something about not following the inventory count of cuts available, potentially leading to over-orders. I prayed there would still be enough for what I ordered and stayed optimistic. About 10 minutes after ordering, I was told that the beef cheeks were sold out. I was okay with that as they refunded me immediately. 15 minutes later and I'm told that the spareribs are also sold out. At this point the only things available were the pork belly and jalapeno cheddar sausage. I still wanted to try the two that were still available, but was dissapointed in having to experience this. As for the food itself, to say the least it was very good. The pork belly was perfectly salted and simply melted in my mouth. The sausage was juicy, had a great snap to it, and had a perfect ratio of cheese to sausage. The jalapeno is subtle and doesn't punch you with spice, but the subtle hint of spice with each bite was addicting. The stand out for me would be their pickles. Korean pear, fresno chili, cucumber, and red onions made up the pickle mix. I loved the sweet n sour of the pear and couldn't stop eating it. The cornbread was also nice and fluffy. Would I come back to try this? 100%. Just from the pork belly and sausage, I can't wait to try the short rib/cheek/spareribs. I would recommend everyone who wants to try Red Eye to either PRE-ORDER or come early before they open, as I came ~40 minutes after opening and most of the meats were sold out. I wish there was a clearer tracking system of how many cuts were left, as placing an order only to be told AFTER ordering that stuff was already sold out is extremely frustrating. Maybe having 1 more person would also help as well, as I waited close to 30 minutes for my order. Tried Red Eye Barbecue with family over the weekend. The Very Friendly Owner enchanted me by answering my questions with phrases like "Texas-style rub" and "sweet and smoky with a lot of heart". I ordered the Pork Spare Ribs. For me, the sides, potato salad, corn bread, and coleslaw, were the true stars of my meal. I was surprised again and again by the delicious mix of flavors in each. Seat yourself after ordering. Appeared to be indoor seating only available. Hot Tip #1: Red Eye is a two-man operation. The line accumulates quickly and moves slowly, so if you are undecided, maybe hem and haw while in line. Hot Tip #2: It's ok to bring your own water bottle inside the restaurant, so kudos to those that always have their water bottle in one hand! read more

Fabulous! We had the end of the day pork belly pinwheels. They were delicious. The sides are unique twist to traditional bbq sides. Lentils, potato salad and an apple coleslaw. They are a pop up inside sazon deli on Sebastopol road every Saturday. They are there until they sell out. read more

Wifey and I stopped in here yesterday and it was awesome! The owner, Bob was extremely friendly, spending the time to tell us his story. The food was out of this world. The potato salad was so good!! The fresh pickled cucumbers were some of the best I've had and there were pickled grapes and kiwi that were really great! All of the meat (we had pork ribs, beef ribs, jalapeño cheddar sausage, pork belly and beef cheek) was amazing but the star of the show was the beef cheek - I've never had anything like it! This is the best Texas style barbecue in Sonoma county, hands down. I lived in central Texas for a quick minute and spent many of my meals around pits inhaling smoke and shooing flies away from my plates, not bothered by spending long waits in lines for the right cuts and crust. Baby brisket was done perfectly, you could cut it with your fork and melted in your mouth. Jalepeno sausage was tender, spiced perfectly and had a great snap to the casing. Potato salad and pickled goodies finished off each bite perfectly along with my local hazy IPA tall can. I cannot say enough about the food and how nice and friendly the pit boss was. We got takeout food from Red Eye Barbecue for the first time today. Beef rib, pork ribs, pork belly wheel and sides of lentils, potato salad and cole slaw (along with the pickled veges and fruit). Wow! Everything was delicious. All three meats were super tasty, smokey but not overpoweringly so, and fall off the bone tender. The sides were surprising stars. At some bbq places sides are an afterthought. Not here. The best barbeque I have had in Sonoma County. And Bob, the owner, is very friendly and approachable. read more

This BBQ is transcendent. There is no other word for it. Bob's BBQ stacks up with the best of Real Texas OG BBQ! In some ways it's better because his sides and pairings bring a level of depth and complexity you find in a place like French laundry. Absolute hidden gem. Best BBQ in the North Bay, hands down. This is not some Californianated, overpriced version of Texas BBQ... Red Eye BBQ is the real deal! Go early on a Saturday and plan to be there right at noon to beat the line. Otherwise they will sell out. The pork ribs are sublime. The sides: 10/10. The potato salad is so tasty we always get two. I also like to get a half-chicken and a few sausages so we have leftovers. Prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly. Excellent food that doesn't break the bank basically does not exist in Sonoma County anymore. So, no wonder this place already has a cult following - it is a hidden gem. read more

Red Eye Barbecue First, briefly, my qualifications: I've lived in Texas for the last 26 years and consider TX BBQ one of the main reasons to stay. I've been to many of the big-name places in Lockhart, Austin, Lulling, and Houston. Killen's in Pearland is my "home" spot. I rarely eat BBQ when I travel because it's just not the same. I agreed to go to Red Eye because my brother, who lives in Santa Rosa, wanted to go. Honestly I was humoring him. Well, turns out that Red Eye is absolutely legit, at least the pork ribs--they were sold out of everything else. The pit master used to work in Austin and he clearly learned the art. Particularly nice bark on the ribs, good and tender, and served with pickled onions and white bread, as God intended. Sauce was good but not actually necessary, also as it should be. Maybe not quite as smoky in flavor as some spots in TX but this is the first BBQ I've had outside Texas that you could actually serve there and people would be cool with it. Good Texas-sized portion as well. Very positive experience! So if you're in the Santa Rosa area and what to see what the fuss over Texas BBQ is all about, swing by Red Eye and check 'em out. Barbeque wise- top notch perfection, on that aspect you can tell this guy knows what he is doing with SO much attention to detail.
