The sentiment echoed by all at our table. We had an assortment of entrees including burgers, pizza, pasta and salad. Two of us had different versions of the Mac and cheese. The worst we have ever had. There was only a few flecks of cheese. Very dry. I asked for extra cheese sauce and they gave me a small amount that was very thin. Cute little tavern. We stopped in on the way back from a zoo trip and while the town is small and a bit run down, this is a great place to stop in for some lunch. It's definitely got the "local" vibe with people on the patio etc, but inside was very quiet, service was efficient and kind and food was really good. We got their pizza bread starter, a Caprese sandwich, and margherita pizza- all super yummy! Recommend! read more

Stopped by Red Fox with a group of five to check out the new owners and menu. Our server was prompt and attentive all afternoon. The Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese was a hit, and my cheeseburger with fried onions did not disappoint. Fresh bun, nice skirt, and perfectly fried onions--definitely recommend the burger! We were going to try out the red fox since the change in ownership. There were 4 of us and we grabbed the last table in the bar area. As we were settling in the server approached us and told us that we could not sit there as it is for parties of 5 or 6. We were stunned that we basically were turned away because we did not "qualify" for that table. She saw us get up and walk out with no concern. I explained that we weren't invited, but they sat the two of us anyways. Very diverse menu- traditional bar food as well as many things like sushi. When we got there I was thinking what a nice place. How have I been on I35 many times a month and didn't know about it? First red flag, we asked what did the waitress recommend? She said everything is good. Not really the answer I wanted to hear. For starters the tap beer was not cold and no head. The water was well water and not drinkable. I have worked in water departments for 30 years. The portions were small and there was an up charge of $1.50 for two small pieces of garlic toast. We wanted ice cream. The chocolate or the swirl were not working. Now up until now it ok and not impressed yet not going to give a bad review. We see on the menu there is a 3.99% credit card fee. A deal breaker for some. Just raise everything 2% and be done with it. Now when we go to leave my friend asks if she can pay with cash and not the app. The waitress says yes no issues. The 3.99% was charged anyway to the cash payment. She pointed it out and with the owner or manager right there, nobody says sorry we can fix that. So bottom line, you had a shot and blew it. read more

If there was a 4.5 star option, I'd choose it. We had a group of 16 last week and had given Red Fox a heads up the week prior. The bartender also had to serve us in the dining room and we could tell that she is wiped out. Please get her some help. Somehow she managed to take our orders pretty promptly and our food was out fast and at the same time. She's a little ragged from having to do too much. Before this place was remodeled it was a really good old school dive bar with good food and good prices (2lbs of wings for 15 bucks). And now remodeled sh*t whole that charges 15.50 for 3 "whole wings". So naturally I decided to go with one of their sandwiches and was served the most bland chicken sandwich I've ever had. Sad to see a hidden gem like this used to be, turn into such a soulless new-age millennial bar if you can even call it that. read more

Have been a customer of the Red Fox for twenty years and under the most recent Ownership I have been disappointed at best. Was in on 7/15/2025 and ordered a ribeye steak at "market prices" and received a steak that was at most 3/8 " thick. it was ordered medium rare and it came well done although in the cooks defense a steak that thin if left on the grill for more than 10 seconds per side it would be overdone. Not much flavor either. fast forward to Saturday 7/19 we wanted prime rib and knowing that if prime rib gets sold out that we would get none. We were assured that there was plenty of Prime Rib so we were there in about 15 minutes and after being seated were informed that they were out of prime rib. Needless to say that we left and went over to Gary's supper club just North of the co rd 70 exit and ordered our Prime Rib which was delicious and a bit more upscale but with the attention and service that we will definitely be back for. As for the Red Fox establishment I wont be back and recommend that everyone not waste their time as it is a major disappointment and way overpriced! read more

We stumbled upon the Red Fox Tavern one cold,, windy Saturday morning while attending a granddaughters State USA Track and Field MN State meet at Lakeville HS South. There was about a 2 1/2 hour break between her hurdle races so being from northern MN and out of our home area we were not familiar with the local restaurants. I Googled local restaurants and we decided on the Red Fox Tavern that was about 3 miles from the school track. We were warmly greeted and a young waiter took our beverage order. I ordered scotch on the rocks but the bartender made a point to come to our table to discuss which scotch I would like and if I would like one large ice cube vs the usual glass filled with small ice cubes. The one large cube is generally an option found mostly in more upscale restaurants so I was pleasantly surprised at the choice in this smaller local tavern. We had already eaten a large breakfast just a couple of hours earlier but were looking for a bowel of soup to warm us up. The soup of the day was a delicious lentil and smoked ham soup. While I'm not a huge lentil fan this soup was wonderful. Deep flavors from the smoked ham complimented the lentils perfectly. With potatoes, carrots, and a bit of onion it was just what we needed to warm the body and soul enough to get us back to the track in time to cheer and support our granddaughter in her 200 m hurdle event. Before we left I used the restroom and complimented the owner how clean neat everything was. I always feel if the restroom is spotless the rest of the restaurant including the kitchen is probably also spotless. The owner explain how he had recently purchased the Red Fox Tavern and some of the upgrades they immediately made included totally gutting the restrooms and installing everything new from plumbing, toilets, sinks, walls, flooring, and lighting . The next time our granddaughter has a track meet at Lakeville HS South we will definitely plan to enjoy a meal at the Red Fox Tavern. I noticed they served wood fired pizza that looked amazing so that will be my choice on a future trip. I just love it when we accidentally stumble upon a new to us great restaurant and enjoy a great dining experience. For you locals I definitely recommend you give The Red Fox Tavern a try opened under new ownership. You won't regret it. read more

Not a great experience at all. Stopped here on the way up to Minneapolis for brunch. Both of our orders were wrong. We each ordered a completely different build your own omelette but ended up getting the same thing. I had ordered mine with avocado which never came and my husbands order was supposed to be meat only yet he got the olives and tomatoes that I had ordered z The server shrugged it off without any solution and we paid on their portable machine so we never saw the receipt and felt like we overpaid for what we had especially since our whole order was wrong. I had high hopes when a new ownership group took over this restaurant. They did a nice job remodeling the interior of the restaurant. That's the only good thing I can say about them. The food was bland, poorly cooked, and severely overpriced. Portion sizes were ridiculously small. Nothing was cooked as it was ordered to be cooked. For example, my mother-in-law asked for her yolks to be set rather than runny and they came out extremely runny. I brought my concerns to the attention of the manager, who immediately became defensive and argumentative. He did not offer to take anything off the tab or do anything to rectify the situation. Instead he bragged that they own a successful restaurant in New Prague so they know what they're doing. If you wanna pay $60 for two kids, pancakes and overcooked omelette and a dry buffalo chicken wrap with about six fries then go here. Otherwise don't waste your time and your money. Went to the Red fox to see the updates and check out the new menu. Also to watch some of the Vikings game with some friends. They made a post on Facebook saying the specials for the day but when I inquired I was told it was only during the game.. but didn't say that anywhere in the post. So I was bummed because I was going to order the specials. Ate some free popcorn while we waited for drinks and our food. I ordered a Diet Coke and it was awful. Super flat and tasted disgusting. I did ask for a new one and the waitress even admitted they have problems with the pop lines on the dining room side vs the bar. My husband ordered a burger and fries. $2 for fries instead of chips. Ok fine but at least make them good! The burger wasn't bad. He ordered a side of ranch with it (no one told us there's a charge for it) Almost $15 for a mediocre burger is insane. Once the game started I took advantage of the specials and ordered nachos, chicken strips and beer. Chicken strips had no flavor but was actual chicken. Nachos were a great price $6 and decent. Overall I used to love this place and the old owners. The new owner seems to favor the locals and party with them. Mainly was a place to just get drunk and act rowdy. It has a very lively atmosphere! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great place to grab a drink or get a fresh bite of food. I had the bison burger, which I would recommend. My wife and I stopped at the Red Fox for breakfast this morning. We both ordered egg dishes, with hash browns and toast both well done. The place wasn't busy; however, we waited the better part of half an hour to receive our meals. Our hash browns were not well done. In fact, my potatoes were mostly pale on the outside and absolutely mushy inside. They were inedible. Our toast was as white as it was when it came out of its wrapper. Before I was done ordering I wanted to order an appetizer but he literally grabbed the menus and walked away. As we were eating a dog and a group of people came in the bar and it was not a service dog either. I said a dog does not belong in a bar especially when there's food around.
