Northern Taphouse in Lakeville has a fun sporty atmosphere with lots of TVs and sports-inspired decor, making it feel like a good place to catch a game or hang out. There was music playing, but it was so loud that it was hard to even tell what songs were on or have a conversation comfortably at times. We started with the bacon cheddar chive tots, which had really good flavor, but some of them were cold in the middle which was disappointing. The turkey pretzel sandwich ended up being surprisingly really good and was probably the highlight of the meal for me. The quesadilla was also a huge portion and definitely felt more like a meal than an appetizer. Service was on the slower side during our visit. However, they made up for one issue by giving us a complimentary sundae when they ran out of the mini helmet dessert bowls, which was appreciated and a nice touch. Overall, a decent experience with some highs and lows. Good food overall, but there are a few things that could have been better.

I've seen some buzz on social media about Northern Taphouse, particularly about their oversized and eclectic Bloody Mary! I kinda just assumed it was another "elevated" sports bar....but I couldn't have been more wrong...it's THE elevated sports bar of the Cities! Plenty of parking at this spot, although it gets busy during peak times! The space itself was jam packed with families, couples, and sports teams taking in the Friday night excitement. Plenty of TVs, clean and modern decor, and a 40 beer tap wall bring this space to life. We took advantage of the online wait-list to ensure we could walk right in and get a table! Our server, while a bit TOO present, was incredibly friendly, bubbly, and excited to show us the ropes on our first visit! We started with two of their rotating taps, which we were told 36 of the 40 taps rotate! Lovely diversity and there's surely something for everyone. We started our meal with the Dill Cheese Curds: a light, cheesy bite dipped in a fresh, crisp ranch! The French Onion Soup was piping hot and decadent with the strong flavor akin to its traditional preparation. The Walleye Tacos were delightful...perfectly fried, served on warm tortillas, with just enough toppings to compliment the sizeable fish portion. Paired with a large serving of waffle fries and seasoned sour cream. I went in with mediocre expectations, only to be blown away with top notch service, not a bad bite all night, and an eagerness to return soon!

It's been a while- still GREAT! Service, neighborhood comfy welcome feel. Great food selection, different yet familiar Its slammin' in here! Glad our neighborhood comfort zone is still doing well beyond well! Tip well people! Btw blood Marys each month have a theme! ‍ Seriously this JOINT IS HOPING! A very well oiled bar/restaurant It's ballet behind the bar- i wish I could video- but you'll just have to come see for yourself right NOW!

Went here with my parents last weekend and will definitely return! Everything we tried was great - ahi tuna bites, the royal wagyu burger, crispy Brussels sprouts - and two September specials - a carne asada pizza and cocktail (pear necessities) Our server was Kyleigh who was very kind and and provided great service for us and some great recommendations I had sweet potato fries on the side with my burger with some ranch which was great 10/10 no notes - the burger was savory and juicy and delicious - the bacon on top was very unique with a bit of a hard and chewy texture with it being so thick but had remarkable flavor.

Wonderful Mother's Day at Nirthern Taphouse! Fun place for gatherings! Food was great! Bloody Mary's were iconic! Jeff, our server took great care of us!

Had the chance to check out Northern Taphouse. The food was pretty mid. I tried the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and the Nashville hot mac and cheese, but neither had any real heat. The mac and cheese was very dry. More cheese and hot sauce would definitely make it better. Service was okay. It felt like Black folks don't visit here often based on the way people stared when I walked in, but that's Lakeville for you. Our server seemed cool, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. There is a nice-sized parking lot and a decent amount of seating inside.

We came around 7:30 and were sat immediately! We had great service and everything came out super quickly. Our food was great and we took a lot home! We specifically came because it was dollar wing night so that was a great deal. They also had $5 20oz beers on Thursdays so that was a steal aswell. Over all great experience! Of course it is a tap house so the restaurant was relatively loud, but you could still hear table conversation.

I stopped here for lunch after having a Colonoscopy and not eating for 3 days. My son or driver was along. We ordered dill cheese curds, barbecue boneless wings, Cuban sandwich and Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich for me. I removed the bun and it just was meh for me. Breaded but Nashville Hot Sauce was nasty. I've come to the conclusion that only good Nashville Hot Chicken is in Nashville. I'll be there the end of July. The server was nice, but I wish I ordered something else. We had lots of leftovers.

We came here to celebrate for a birthday brunch and man, what a great experience! It was busy, but the staff seemed like a well oiled machine and we never found ourselves rushed, nor ignored or forgotten. We sat on the family side and honestly, I wasn't expecting this place to be too family friendly and was pleasantly surprised! There were a bunch of families on our side, and the other side was catered more for adults which I loved. We ordered a gauntlet of food including the dill pickle cheese curds (to die for), chicken and waffles, and the jalapeno bacon cheddar infused burger, breakfast tacos and a kids meal. Everything was 10/10 amazing. Of course I had to try the mini bloody mary sampler, also 10/10. Cannot wait to return and try the mimosa flight next!

We were hot, hungry, and tired from being outside for a while, so we stopped off here for drinks and snacks to help us through the afternoon. The vibe is very sports and gastropub, and though there were a lot of TVs on, the noise level was low and good. Service was great throughout our brief time there. We ordered the pretzel bites, brussels sprouts, and drinks; I was very happy to find cider on available. The food came out quickly and was delicious--it was just what we needed! The whole menu here looked great, too. I'd be happy to return at some point and have a full meal at this or another location.

I love Northern Tap House and haven't been to the Lakeville location in a while so since we were in the area we stopped in last night. Everything was so good from the Brussel sprouts to the grilled cheese! I tried the Indeed seasonal cream ale and it tasted a lot like a green shake from a big chain! Service was great and it wasn't too busy!

I could them with every meal. They're insanely good. Dinner, get the short rib or the lamb shank. Delicious. The buffalo cauliflower as an appetizer is a must do too!! My quintessential breakfast item is eggs Benedict and cappuccino- this is how I begin my evaluation of good food. So it was a toss up between The Better Half and the Lakeville Brewing Co which share the same parking lot. AI told me to go to Lakeville Brewing for the Benedict if I expect it to be done right. However it said The Better half will have way better cappuccino. Entryway into The Better Half was nice . The ambiance reminded me of High Hat on Selby on Cathedral Hill in St Paul. However the warmth wasn't there at The Better Half. The big bar had a few people sitting there, bartender looked at us but didn't say anything. No welcome - no smile nothing. No host at the front door- there was only a sign saying "please wait to be seated". We stood there for about two minutes until someone came from the back to seat us. Our server was a different person, she seemed warm and personable. They should put her in charge as hostess. First impressions are everything. Also train the bartender to be talkative, that's usually why people go to bars- they know at least the bartender will be friendly. Cappuccino was decent and good sized, no complaints there. The Benedicts were executed poorly. The eggs were hard boiled on both dishes. Hollandaise was thick, tasteless and slopped all over the plate. It didn't look appetizing - we had to send it back. With that said the ham was a good thick slice and the potatoes were fried up well. But there was nothing special about the potatoes. Due to poor execution of the eggs Benedict and hollandaise, coupled with the stoic bartender who was unwelcoming- I'd have to give this place a 1.5 star. It's unfortunate since I want to cheer for the small town restaurants. There's so much they could offer in personal touch and experience. Unfortunately this experience left us feeling like "if this is the better half, then I don't want meet the other half." Management needs to step up their game, it's not fair to the workers to let guests start off with a poor experience and then have the food quality continue to degrade the experience. The server never gets a chance to earn a great tip because the bartender, lack of host greeting and poor execution of food overshadows the server who was trying her best. We tipped her well anyway but this is why the lengthy review.. For a breakfast place you gotta get your eggs right. That's 101 cooking.

FANTASTIC food, drinks, service, patio area, and ambiance!…read more I'm from Arizona and visit my in-laws in central MN 1-2x per year. However, this trip we had a wedding southeast of "the cities" where wife and our two kids loved that menu online and decided to check it out on our way to the wedding the next day. Honestly, this has been my fav restaurant in all of Minnesota. Ribeye, walleye, pretzel, and drinks were perfect! Unfortunately, I likely won't be in the area ever again to revisit it; however, we liked it so much I had to post a positive review. Cheers from AZ.

Oh boy...where to start? I guess I will start with the pros…read more First, I always like to mention what day and time I visited a restaurant. I decided to get takeout for lunch on a Monday afternoon. I have been on a kick lately trying Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwiches, or in Barley and Vine's case, the Tennessee Hot Chicken Sandwich. That was the main reason I wanted to stop by for lunch. I placed a to-go order, but we have also dined inside several times before. Starting with the positives, the staff is always very friendly and welcoming. There is really no issue there. The staff is fantastic. The overall vibe and ambiance of the restaurant are incredibly nice as well. It leans toward a fancier, higher-end, upscale atmosphere. I honestly think that may be part of the reason several reviews are so positive and why people may perceive the food as being higher quality or better tasting. We have also had brunch here more than once. We are generally not brunch people, but we have really enjoyed the brunch items we have ordered in the past. I am hoping we can come back for brunch again, and maybe I can eventually write an updated review with a higher rating. So why only 3/5 stars? My most recent to-go visit left me incredibly disappointed. To start, the Tennessee "Hot" Chicken Sandwich is not hot at all. "Hot" is absolutely not the correct word to use. It should probably just be called a Tennessee Chicken Sandwich, and honestly, even using "Tennessee" or "Nashville" does not seem accurate. This seemed like a basic Fried Chicken Sandwich made from a frozen chicken filet with far more breading than actual chicken. It is not the most pleasant photo to look at, but I attached a picture of the partially eaten sandwich to this review. You can clearly see how little chicken meat there actually was. They put white BBQ sauce on the sandwich, but I do not really have anything particularly good or bad to say about it. It was just kind of there. It did not improve the sandwich, but it did not necessarily make it worse either. The fries were also just fine. They seemed to be lacking flavor and may have been slightly burnt. Speaking of overcooked, the chicken sandwich also tasted overcooked. Overall, the sandwich and fries were simply not very good. I would never order the sandwich again, and I would probably substitute the fries for a different side in the future. Another issue is the repeated delay with to-go orders. I have ordered takeout from Barley and Vine maybe three or four times, and every single time the order has been late. I usually arrive only one or two minutes before the scheduled pickup time. Sometimes I even wait in the parking lot because I do not want to arrive too early. Every single time, the order is not ready at the scheduled time. This time, I only had to wait about six minutes past the pickup time. However, during my previous to-go experience a few weeks earlier, I waited more than 15 minutes past the scheduled pickup time. This has also happened during other visits. Finally, everything usually comes down to whether the meal is worth the price. I paid $17.77 for the Tennessee Hot Chicken Sandwich with fries. That included a 48 cent credit card surcharge. They add a 3% surcharge to all credit card payments, which automatically leaves a bad taste in my mouth at any restaurant. It's not something they have to do, to support higher wages or whatever they want to tell you. It's something they CHOOSE to do. Other restaurants don't do, or they simply increase their menu prices 3%. Which I would rather have than yet another fee in this world. Regardless, the meal was simply not worth the price. The sandwich was not flavorful, was not spicy, did not contain enough chicken, and tasted overcooked. The fries also seemed overcooked and lacked flavor. It was not a good value. You could drive a little farther down the road to Dave's Hot Chicken and get a more flavorful meal, a larger portion, and a lower price. This review feels harsh, but I am hoping it comes across as constructive criticism if management happens to read it. Overall, I cannot recommend ordering takeout from Barley and Vine. I cannot recommend the Tennessee Hot Chicken Sandwich, and I do not particularly recommend the fries either. They were not absolutely terrible, but they were not great. I am still hoping to visit Barley and Vine again. I will likely avoid ordering takeout because it has consistently been a poor experience. However, I hope we have a better experience the next time we dine inside, and I will definitely be ordering something else.

You can make reservations and they have an app with a loyalty program. There often is a wait during dinner time, so if you can plan ahead I would make a reservation. Tavern Grill recently revamped their menu and they have some really great dishes! Some notable dishes: -- The Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps appetizer is SO fresh and flavorful! You can add on cashews and avocado. The avocado slices were so thick and fresh. The wonton strips were some of the best I've had -- so light and crispy. The thai peanut sauce on the chicken was fantastic and the ginger sauce had a pretty decent kick to it. -- The Chicken Skewers entree is my go-to dish. It's such a classic and it has consistently been good every time I've ordered it. The chicken is juicy and the peppers and onions have a nice charred grilled flavor. The garlic parmesan sauce complements the dish well. -- The Chicken Wild Rice Soup is on the chunkier side, which I enjoyed! It was nice and creamy and didn't skimp out on the wild rice. The Clam Chowder served on Fridays was a little too salty. -- The Skillet Cookie is so warm and gooey! The ice cream melts right into the warm cookie. The cookie is on the doughier side and the outside is on the softer side. It's almost the size of the entire plate, so it's easily shareable between a few people. -- The Fish Fry Basket doesn't taste too greasy, and the tarter sauce complements the fish well. The fish has a clean flavor and on Fridays you can get a refill of 4 pieces of fried fish for an additional $7.50. You can add on their seasoned sour cream for an additional cost. The seasoned sour cream is thick and adds so much flavor to the waffle fries. Last time I was there I received very friendly and attentive service from Sam.
