Thanks to Mario we will not be back. He did a great job at making our group of 4 feel very unwelcome. We did not realize we were early when we walked in thru the unlocked door at 6:59. He proceeded to not answer us when we said good morning, he slammed everything he could get his hands on, refused to acknowledge we were there. High class Waffle House, loved it!! My cousin and I sat at the bar, they had an open kitchen. On a Saturday morning it was packed, we waited about 5-7 mins. Service was good. Now the food... :)))) for real. I had the pig pile skillet, tater tots, ham, sausage, bacon, shredded cheese, sausage gravy and 2 eggs. It was so amazingly American and delicious. My cousin had the gyro omelette. Lamb, feta, cumber sauce and what not. She loved it. I'm actually going back right now. It's that good. read more

First off when I got there we were put on a waitlist and told a text will be sent to our phone , just to wait and see everyone behind us get sat , mind you it took 2 host to figure out how to mange seating us , as we seen people just being seated , we ask to be seated again and they then sat us , our server rachel comes to our table , greets us very quickly and like she is very uninterested in her job, she then brings our drinks back and tosses the straws on our table , still in a very unpleasant mood takes our order , she then asked my friend what he wanted to eat as my husband wasn't done ordering , we felt very rushed , and as far as the place it's self , I used to go here all the time before the new owners and honestly this place is just run down , windows are dirty , floors clearly not mopped , drink area looks like drink machine is never cleaned , servers our dressed like they just woke up and came to work , I would not be surprise if this place shuts down soon , I am a manger server at a restaurant closer to down town area and just as a server myself for 8 years the service was trash , the food was plain and not cooked right or well , eggs were not prepared how asked , American fries had no tastes and as for food coming to table my husband food came last out after everyone else had their food and it was just a sandwich with fries.. took about 5 mins for his food to come after ours , and to top it off Rachel our server quickly came out during us still eating our meals to just throw the check on our table and walk away , I'm sorry but if you don't like you job or career choice you pick find something new to do , you are in customer service and dealing with people like your irritated to have another table is pretty bad when that is your choice of career .. The restaurant was not busy - about 10% of capacity - but the the host person took five minutes to come over to seat me. Food was okay, the omelette was a little dry and the bacon in it was very salty. The service was questionable and our waitress was rude , unfriendly and took every opportunity to rush us out the door. We could barely finish our meal and she was implying to hurry up because there were people waiting . I asked for more coffee and she poured a 1/4 cup as she wanted us out of there . At that time we were there for 45 minutes and that included waiting for our food . Food was DELISH. Portions are quite large, no matter what is selected. I ordered the Southwest Benedict (chorizo and eggs Benedict) - savory and spicy. Friend ordered eggs to order (came with toast and meat). Both of us took a box home! Took a bit for food, but given how busy they were it was to be expected. Coffee is average; you go for the food. You have to be looking for the Red Geranium Cafe to find it in a strip mall on Kalamazoo Ave. just south of 60th St. It is the same cafe that used to be on Michigan by Spectrum Hospital but in a larger space. The food is much the same - great breakfasts with omelets and hash browns. I've had their soup and sandwich and was not disappointed. Always busy but much larger seating area in this location. A good place to lunch in Kentwood - Caledonia besides fast food. read more

I brought my parents to eat Sunday and one of the line cooks was arguing and cussing at a young hostess. It was extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. He proceeded to say the serving staff does not know how to do their jobs. I believe it was a manager that told him to calm down and he still carried on in-front of all the customers. We have always had good food at RG. Today was a different story. There were only 2 of us and no one was waiting to be seated. We decided to sit at the bar. I ordered a California omelet- but asked for it to be put in a skillet and add potatoes. My companion built her omelet requesting sausage and bacon. Neither of our orders were correct. My skillet was missing avocado and her omelet had no meat. I also had to ask for silverware before we could eat. No adjustment was made to our bill. So disappointed as this is not the usual service we receive. read more

I have been here three times for breakfast now and I can say I really don't get all the positive reviews. I have tried the hash browns and home fries, both were cold, bland, and tasted old and from a hotbox. Eggs cold and bland. Pancakes cold and bland. The atmosphere is good, the staff and service are good. And the home made jam that you can get is excellent. However I have yet to have a good breakfast here and will be adding this to my avoid list. read more

First time here for breakfast. this morning with my wife. We went prime time, Saturday morning about 11am. We got the only open table in the joint. After that there was a short wait for a table. If your one of the people below that show up with 12 people during prime times at a small restaurant and then whines because they can't seat you immediately...well then your an idiot. Not just this small restaurant...ANY small restaurant Just saying... There was a short wait for parties of 2 or 4 but if somebody showed up with 10 or 12 people and wanted to sit together they would have been waiting a while. I mean, it would have taken 5 tables to free up after all. It was everything I want from a breakfast place. I had corned beef hash, eggs and hasbrowns wth toast. It was great. Wife had a breakfast burrito and it was stuffed with sausage and bacon. The pancakes on other tables looked and smelled awesome. Waitress wasn't hanging on us but was there when we needed her and kept my coffee and Diet Coke full/ Defianately will go back. This place and the two Peppermills are in a league of their own when it comes to solid, diner style breakfast. They don't try and get cute like Anna's House (I reviewed it). This is a breakfast only review, since I have never went in for anything other then that. The breakfast here is consistent, delicious, and reasonably priced. The daily specials are unique but well crafted. Hash browns are not too oily or buttery, leaving some of the best tasting browns I've had in a long time. Eggs are not sloppy, but cooked perfectly and as ordered. The omelets are divine. The ingredients are all fresh which really comes through in the food. My mother got a skillet once and she ate every bit of it. I also have to give Red Geranium props on their biscuits and gravy. When the place first opened, I really didn't care for them but over the years, they have gotten exponentially better. I prefer the ham steak over bacon based on taste and quantity. I have to note that I have been here probably 20+ times and have never gotten a bad breakfast. Now I live in Cleveland and I really struggle to find a place as consistent and as delicious as Red Geranium that is close by. IMO, driving 20 minutes out of my way is not acceptable for something as easy as breakfast. So do yourself a favor and try RG for breakfast, but keep in mind that this place does get busy. I order the Grandpa Stein with a side order of biscuits and gravy, a man breakfast but ohhh sooo good! read more

We ate breakfast here a couple of weeks ago. We had a group of eight and had to wait 15 minutes or so, but they offered us to bring us drinks while we waited (not complimentary, but still nice). We had an assortment of stuffed french toast, pancakes, omelettes, & potatoes, and all was quite tasty. Instead of toast, my SIL and I ordered some sort of frosted bread the waitress raved about, but I found it only "okay". Hands down the best breakfast place on this side of town. It's local, it's always fresh, and absolutely hot & delicious every time. I dont come too often because I'm not a breakfast person, but I'm always excited to go. Usually a wait list, no more than 20 minutes. Worth the wait! The pig pile skillet is not for the weak of heart. You'll be full for most of the day! You have to get the sugar bread as your toast option, it's sweet and delicious. The staff is always courteous. Only downside is how busy it can get but I guess that's a testament to how great their food is here. Sign up for the rewards program, we just got $20 off our bill for coming here several times! Nope. I don't think I will go back. My second time I have been in there. I got the same waitress who honestly had other customers and I was just a disturbance. It someone 5-7 minutes to come ask me for a drink, took forever to get a refill, and the waitress was rude and obnoxious. The food was not great.
