Good all around breakfast spot. They don't really have anything fancy or super unique and sometimes that's what you are looking for. We were starving and wanted a good hearty breakfast. We each got a platter mine with French toast, his with banana pancakes and both also came with meat and eggs. Food comes out quick and they were pretty busy. Service was also good and fast. I am coming back to give a 4 star review instead of 3 after having a few better experiences here. If I could, I'd probably do 3.5 stars. For starters, the service has been great the last few times I've been. Our first visit they were insanely busy and we didn't get seated for awhile- there was also a great deal of confusion. However, now that we live close we go here frequently and have always been seated quickly and received prompt service. On my first visit I had the "pig pile" which has lots of meat, potatoes plus cheese and sausage gravy- it ended up being way too salty. Anything new that has bacon in it at this place has a lot of it, which tends to add a powerful amount of salt. Now I usually get a veggie omelette or the Michigan with half the bacon; I get some sideways glances when I order that but I like just a sprinkle of bacon. The coffee here is not great and I would skip that. The real star, IMO, is the banana pancake. They put the bananas in and cook them until they're nice and brown- toasty sweet banana goodness. The pancakes are also super fluffy and vanilla flavored. I felt like I needed to write a better review because we have had some nice brunches here! read more

Food is wonderful. Eggs Benedict any of their variations are good. On Sunday 5/5/19 service was very slow. We could observe the kitchen from our booth and food waited to be served to the customers. read more

As far as diners/breakfast places go, this place is absolutely one of the best. Service is top notch, we were seated right away when we walked in and our drink order was taken before we even sat down. The table we were seated at was a little wobbly, so I went to put a sugar packet under it and our waiter saw this and immediately fixed the wobbling for me, without even being asked. He was really nice and I was really impressed with that. Our food was up quickly too, and the portions were HUGE! I got two cinnamon pancakes and they were the size of my entire face, definitely couldn't finish them all. Our coffee cups were never empty. Great food, huge portions for cheap, above and beyond/friendly customer service. If you're looking for breakfast in Grand Rapids, you have to go here! read more

It does't get better than this place. I stumbled in here once for an early morning breakfast years ago, and I've been back at least 3 times a month ever since. I've tried almost everything on the menu. The service is wonderful, the food is terrific, the atmosphere is family friendly and warming, and the coffee is great. I've tried all the breakfast places in Grand Rapids that get a lot of buzz, and Anna's House and Wolfgangs CAN'T TOUCH the Red Geranium. :) read more

Horrible service!!!! My sister and I came on a weekend morning. We walked in the door and there was no hostess. There was a sign in sheet for a wait, but it was all scratched off and there was no one waiting for us. Most of the wait staff just looked at us and walked by. The cook was calling for someone to get the door, but they ignored him. I finally had to get someones attention that kept walking by us She asked us if she put our names on the list. I told here there was no list, there were no names on the list and no one else waiting. Then she told us to put our names on the list, We just left and ate somewhere else. I usually like the food here, pretty good for a breakfast place but today I cannot tell you about the food because we waited over ten minutes and not a single employee approached our table. I'm guessing it is because I asked for a table close to the door because the person I was with was recovering from a hospital stay and she had wanted to seat us in the back corner. The people who came in behind us were seated there and had food already by the time we finally walked out. The Red Geranium is not a large restaurant and it was neither busy or full so it was very obvious we had no drinks or food and had closed menus in front of us for over ten minutes. This place is literally my favourite restaurant in the greater Grand Rapids area. My mom and I joke that it's like cheers - everybody there knows us and they remember our orders too. There isn't a bad server in the place and the food is good old American comfort food. Even when they're slammed the food comes out in a timely manner and the portions are great for the price. I also enjoy the rotating coffee flavours, though I admit I always look forward to the blueberry coffee in the summer. read more

Loved the food and friendly service. Reasonably priced for fresh delicious food. I had the turkey, ham, bacon wrap with cheddar cheese and light mayo. I took half of it home! Came here with my sister and nephew for a quick lunch. Got the fajita wrap and all the onions were burned inside making the whole wrap taste burned and it was wrapped with a over sized flour tortilla the was not toasted at all, but soaked up any sauce on it. My sister got the RG special Which was grilled Veggies and cheese, nothing she would get again. Staff was quick and abrupt. read more
