Steak 'n Shake has delicious food, plenty of seating, and plenty of parking. There's a kiosk to order your food, and you seat yourself. I love the Frisco Melt and the French fries. Prices are reasonable and there's also Steakburger combos to choose from. Can't wait to come back! read more

Steak & Shake, is really starting to go down hill. Don't get me wrong the food is still good, the waiting staff not so much. Everytime I come here the waiters & waitresses are half-assed and don't nearly give the service that other sit-down restaurants offer. I suppose you get what you pay for, but that is no excuse for poor service, my waitresses only came to take our order, drop it off and then to drop off the bill. I did not get a refill on my beverage, I had told her I needed food to go before the bill was brought, I had to order it and wait another 15 minutes after I was already done eating. Incredible customer service. I had just got off a late shift and I was drained. Yet, at 2am our waitress Cheryl P. was sweet, energetic, kind, and helped make my night great! Hats off to her. She deserves the recognition. She even drew a butterfly and wrote us a note on our bill. It's the little things that make eating out more than just eating out. I found this place on my way back to the hotel after a business trip. I had about 3 hours sleep and was working on fumes I needed some type of protein nearly next to or off of the freeway. I ordered a hamburger and a small Shake no cheese because I'm just that kind of guy. To my surprise the hamburger was fresh the bun was rice the produce was fresh lettuce tomato onions and the meat again felt like it just came off the grill. The regular Shake actually look like a large and when I tried to suck through a straw I probably pulled both of my lungs out in the process.... That was a compliment by the way. Wanted to grab a quick bite to eat and made the mistake of choosing Steak and Shake. Ordered a Wisconsin Burger and asked to add lettuce and tomato. The employee looked like he hated his life and was very monotonous, although I suppose if I were 50+ and working a Steak and Shake drive thru I would probably also deeply reconsider my life choices up until that point. When I got home, I unwrapped what can only be described as a greasy, squished pile of garbage. Displeased, I unwrapped the "sandwich" which led only to more disappointment: I realized the employees had not in fact added my lettuce and tomato. Your typical Steak n' Shake: fast food with friendly (for the most part) table service, pay at the register, a bit dingy, super greasy hamburgers albeit a bit small but priced to match, and a great selection of shakes. I get coupons in the mail from them almost every week but if you forget yours, not to worry! They take online coupons as well so whip out that smart phone, Google Steak n' Shake and you should be able to find what you're looking for. They always have a BOGO free specialty shake coupon and other deals to save you a few dollars. Also, if you have a smart phone, they have a mobile app that they'll give you a $2.99 credit for signing up and linking a credit/debit card to it. It works like any loyalty rewards program where they'll give you $5 credit for every $50 you spend through the app. We come here occasionally on Thursday nights after volunteering since it's nearby and open late. One of the times we went the waitress was super pushy about us ordering shakes at that very instant so we did. They all turned out to be very watery much to our dismay, but since then no issues with their shakes. Next time I'll remember to order the shake to-go and freeze it when I get home. They make for a perfect snack for a slow evening and last well just like ice cream though I generally finish it off within a few days because lack of self control... My favorite shakes are the Cookie Butter and Oreo Mint Cookies and Cream. Yum! For most mix-ins like M&Ms and Oreos they can add to any base flavor so feel free to mix and match! read more

We've been popping in once or twice a month lately, and we always get the same waitress. She's the only one working third shift, and she works hard! Our orders are always accurate, and she gets things out to us quickly. She's patient when we're indecisive, and always steps up a little extra to make sure our meal is great. When she thought we didn't get enough cheese on our cheese fries, she brought a small container with extra. The food has also improved, I don't feel as sick as I used to. The new burgers are amazing and the milkshake options are great. This is the best Steak n Shake in the area, so I am giving it a little extra due to staff because the third shift team absolutely deserves it. read more

Worst experience at any Steak 'n Shake ever. The customer service was nonexistent. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. We waited for 30 minutes while two waitresses walked around aimlessly. One member of our group got up to get his own drink and the server said "I'll get it in a minute" so he sat back down. We waited another 15 minutes and still NOTHING. I couldn't believe it. This is probably one of the few resturants around the area that closes later. So if pizza is not something you want to eat for a late dinner, then steak n' shake is the place to go. I had the Oreo cookies and cream milk shake with a sirachia burger and fries. The shake was okay, I can't complain, but I've also had better. The sirachia burger was alright. It had jalapeños in it also, that made it a little spicier but it was good. But the fries tastes a little old. I'd say, overall everything was mediocre. This place has variety, so it definitely beats the normal fast food places like Mc Donalds and Burger King. read more

Don't go to steak n shake on Kalamazoo. They can't do their jobs right. We ordered food waited on line and got our food we got shorted one item and couldn't go inside do to corona. We call them like 3 times and they didnt answer their phone so I stood outside and away from the window as there was a car there and yelled to the lady she forgot our item she told me we don't accept drive ups go back around. They told us they can give us a shake, since we weren't laying in cash they gave us our shake for free??? The drive thru service was awful. We had to wait for our order to be taken, and then wait 18 minutes to get to the window to pay. And they didn't even know which order was ours. The lady at the window then processed to just tell us our total and brush off us telling her what our order was. She gave us our card back and then closed the window and talked to another worker at the window. Then our food was waiting on the counter for a couple minutes while the two workers were chatting in front of the window. And then when one of them finally gave us our food, it was barely warm. This is the ABSOLUTE WORST Steak n' Shake I've ever been to. This is the closest fast food to our house open 24hr and I could literally eat in a dine-in faster than going through this drive through. I've been in line for 40+ minutes before, and when we went there tonight they said it was going to be 30-40 minute wait? For what?! They are highly understaffed and this needs to be addressed ASAP.
