I liked the kabob and rice. The sauces are great, too. But here's what I am not a fan about. In my opinion the kabob place should have a delicious fresh bread. Even at the mall's food court they sell much better bread. At this place bread wasn't fresh and I didn't really like it. The meat pieces were on a smaller size, too. This place, like many tasty places, is tucked away with other odd shops in the Bellewood Commons shopping center. They sure know how to cook! Their chicken kabobs are super moist and seasoned nicely, with the perfect amount of salt. The lamb kabobs are also good, though they taste a bit like they marinated in yogurt too long. The rice is unbelievable. It's fluffy without being sticky or too creamy, and they use a delicate hand with the savory or stir-frying. My issues are mostly with ambiance; eating here feels lonely and cold, as though I'm intruding. I also don't care for the bread, too much work for not much flavor. This is a great place for Kabob, it is NOT Afghani Kabob place. The owners are very nice and friendly. It takes some time to prepare the food because it is cooked on the spot, so I order by phone ahead of time. I love the Chicken and Lamb platter. The rice is the best I had in any Kabob restaurant. This is the sort of place you love to go because it makes you feel good to support them. The owners could not be more friendly or more anxious to please - and the food is pretty darn good. It compares favorably to most kabob places - every one has the things they do well, and things they don't do quite as well. The one thing I'm not completely sold on here is their bread - it's not what I'm used to, and there doesn't seem to be quite enough of it. The first part of that may just be me. And the second part is primarily related to the huge portions. I remember the first time I ate here, getting a late lunch. Big mistake. Go for an early lunch, or go for dinner. Sadly the quality has gone down over the past 6-7 months. This may be due to less business and the need to cut costs but that just creates a negative feedback loop that is destined to be the demise of your business, IMO. The last few times we have ordered here the chunks of meat have become noticeably smaller, drier and tougher. They have excellent dessert and also this great spinach that's awesome when you add feta to it. It's hard to find well done delicious food out here but these guys have it down to a science. We moved out of the area and still travel to Leesburg for Red Kabob. THATS how good it is. I'm revising my previous review. This place just isn't as good under the new owner. Food is good, bread remains awful, the decor is bad, and the atmosphere is a bit uncomfortable. Overall, this place remains ok, I'd still recommend it for pickup, but I'd personally prefer to go to another place just down the road that has much better bread and atmosphere (particularly if I'm eating there). Previous Review: I've been eating here 2 or 3 times a month for just about a year. Hard to beat for a quick meal. Owners are super friendly and food is great. I do have to agree with some of the other posters, I wish they'd serve a different bread, but the kabobs and sauce are by far the best in the area and make up for it. Great food! I'm a real reviewer, and yes, I do know the owners' names because they introduced themselves when I was in the restaurant and they remember my name every time I visit. They are very friendly and take pride in their business. The ingredients are fresh (no freezer) and all preparation/cooking is in view of the customer. The restaurant is very clean, including the restrooms. The food is very good and the prices are great. My reason for 4 stars, the bread could be better (thicker/softer). Still an excellent restaurant in Leesburg! Update: They do now have a different type of bread, but unfortunately, it's not better. It's similar to thin pizza crust. I'd love it if they had the soft nann type bread served at most kabob places (Grill Kabob in Tyson's mall). Also, the white sauce needs to be thicker, it's very thin. Excellent food, especially the lamb kabobs. My family has eaten here several times, and have introduced friends to the restaurant. Everyone has really enjoyed their meals. The rice served with the kabobs is excellent - just the right texture and great taste. As others have noted, the bread is probably not my favorite - I'd prefer something moister, but it's ok - and the main dish more than makes up for this shortcoming. We were shopping at the outlets and this was the closest "Mediterranean" restaurant we could find. We had the hummus and the chicken platter. Service was slow because they made everything fresh. We weren't in a hurry, so it was ok and we were the only people in there at the time. We ate the hummus with flatbread as an appetizer while we waited on our chicken platter. The flatbread was outstanding and the hummus was great too. The chicken platter came with rice and a salad. Everything tasted great! All in all, I'd say this is an excellent place, but don't go if you're in a hurry. I'll definitely stop by next time we're near the outlets. read more

This place is great! The owner is the guy that works the counter most days, he is extremely friendly and makes your wait very entertaining! My husband and I have sampled just about everything from here and it has all been fantastic. The green sauce that he serves as hot sauce is absolutely fantastic, I could literally put it on anything. Just dropped in this evening to take food home. I was really craving kabobs. The menu is simpler than under the last management. They called it cheaper...I don't agree. Unlike other kabob restaurants, the platter only came with salad. When I asked to substitute for chickpeas, he gave me a hard time but then relented and said he would swap out. I was on a business call when I checked out and simply took the bag and paid. When I got home to feed my brood, I found the guy only gave me 1 small container of chickpeas for all 3 platter dinners. In addition the naan is awful (not made fresh) and you only get a quarter of a piece for the whole platter. Finally, the taziki sauce is awful...has a mayonnaise taste....NOT IMPRESSED! better off going to the kabob place behind Wegman's. As a side note, the guy serving me is the new manager. read more

I tried their food awhile ago and was blown away at how good it was, I was finally able to get back there today and I can happily say their food is even better than I remember. I love kabobs and was hoping to find a go to place in Leesburg. This will not be it. The chicken was fine, and the salad was actually bountiful for a kabob place. Additionally, the sauces are great. The rice is pretty blah and the chickpeas were rather bland. The naan was NOT good... you can get better stuff at Trader Joe's! The prices are actually awesome, so if you're looking for a generic, inexpensive kabob place then you'll be fine here but I'd recommend looking a little harder and finding something that's worth your time. read more

The location stinks. It is not something that folks will come into as they drive by because it is tucked into the corner of the strip mall. That said, once you get there, the food was tasty. The chicken kabob was moist and tender and had some great seasoning. The rice is plentiful and the salad is fine. The bread is not quite as good as Moby Dick's. I don't think it is made fresh like they do. The cucumber sauce and their spicy sauce are both good. They offer a wide selection is sodas, teas and other drinks. I'm so surprised at the hateful reviews a few people posted for this little restaurant. I've had nothing but wonderful experiences with Red Kabob, and, as a Leesburg resident, I hope they're hugely successful. We need more ethnic restaurants here--all we seem to hang onto are Chinese and Pizza places. I've only ordered to go from Red Kabob, and only three times so far. Every time, the food was excellent. The beef and chicken were cooked perfectly--not too much and not too little. The rice was tasty, and the little sauces added a nice zing to the dish. And the homemade baklava was wonderful. I hope you'll try Red Kabob the next time you want a quick, tasty meal. Oh, and yes, the owners are very friendly, so I'm not surprised that plenty of reviewers know their names. I have to disagree with the negative reviews. Red Kabob is a fantastic place to get fresh, healthy, delicious, homestyle cooking. Being kabob fanatics, my family has tried all the kabob houses in the area. This place beats them all with no contest. Having now tried the lamb, chicken, and beef kabobs (described EXACTLY as that on the menu) the meats are moist and tender with flavorful seasoning. Some might find that the ground beef kabob has a bit of a spicy kick but it's balanced nicely with the mouth watering spices with which it's prepared. The lamb is tender, flavorful, and melts in your mouth. The chicken is exceptional, having been marinated over night and is fork tender. Don't forget to ask for a side of the garlic sauce to go with the chicken, it complimented the kabob so well I woke up the next morning still thinking about how good it was. The salad is much better than the run of the mill iceberg lettuce with a bland yogurt dressing but rather a colorful mix of fresh green leaf lettuce with cucumbers, tomatoes, a goat cheese, onions, carrots and an olive, punctuated with a delicious dressing. The side of spicy sauce that you're given tastes wonderful mixed in with the aromatic rice. Not that you need any more food, the portion sizes are large and could easily be shared between two people, but the chick peas and spinach dishes are another two sides that should be tried at least once. The food alone is reason enough to return time and time again but it's worth pointing out that the owners make every effort to make your meal enjoyable. The hospitality and customer service are just another reason to give this place two enthusiastic thumbs up. read more

I just came from another fantastic dinner at Red Kabob. The chicken is out of this world delicious. Not only are the owners friendly and genuinely nice people, they make dining there fun. John, the owner, is more than happy to tell you about the food, how he cooks it, and will try to address special requests. He made tonight extra fun -- a couple of guys who he knows that play instruments came in for dinner, and he told them that they had to play a song before he would cook for them. They came back minutes later, instruments in hand, and played a song for the restaurant like it was a fun family event. You never know what's going to happen at Red Kabob, but it's always going to be delicious and entertaining. This is a true gem in Leesburg and it's definitely worth the trip from farther locales. read more
