I discovered this location online a few weeks ago while looking for a spot to have a surprise party for my boyfriend. And now I'm obsessed!! First of all, it's not so easy to find, yet this is one of the highlights of the experience. After inevitably finding the door with the red light above, hidden away in Monroe's parking lot, you enter the corridor and discover a secret door with a bell. The man inside peeks out and welcomes you in. It evokes the atmosphere of a 1930s speakeasy. Very intriguing. Once inside, our guests and the staff erupted in a wonderful roar, yelling "Surprise." It was then that I had a chance to look around and fully absorb the surroundings and mood. It was perfect. A variety of swanky, stylish seats, sofas, and tables. Perfect for my group of 20 to sit, mingle, and explore. And a really talented young female singer played the piano and serenaded us all night. The staff: What could I possibly say about each and every one of them? From managers to servers, they were all OUTSTANDING! Everyone went above and beyond to make this surprise birthday party truly memorable. They exceeded my expectations. I had so many compliments from my friends about the service. We were all very impressed. Food: Another huge success! I pre-ordered various appetizers, and each one was better than the next! The pork belly is still on my mind. I'll be going back for that!! I was surprised with a second date here. Located on the side of Monroe's. I have a frequented Monroe's a few times and would have never guessed this was here. Upon arrival, a code was given at the door to allow us entry, and we were sat at our reserved table. Customer service was phenomenal from start to finish the entire night. The menu options all seemed very delicious. However, after hearing the catch of the day described, I already knew what I wanted to settle on. For appetizers, we enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. They were delicious, and the sauce complemented them perfectly. The wait time for our food was reasonable, and our server checked on us just enough to show attentiveness while still allowing us the intimate opportunity to talk and enjoy each other's company. Saturday night, Anniversary night.....decided going to a speakeasy (regardless of what's 'next door') we thought it would be super cool. . You need to make a reservation with a credit card as if you don't show they will charge. Sounds high end and the place to be. That day we tried to adjust a reservation by 30 minutes. NO ONE WOULD ANSWER NOR RETURN CALLS, no matter how many times we called or messaged on the app. We read 20 minute grace period so we choose '20 minutes' late. They text us door1 code. Ok, cool..good start. We get there....Door1is propped open. Then you were in a vestibule area. Door 2 (where you are supposed to ring in) is ALSO OPEN. So literally other than not having a name on the outside, is a bar. An expensive one. We were really disappointed as stupid as that sounds as we didn't get the speakeasy experience. Hostess says they are really busy. Umm, the place is half full. No real tables but honestly we sat on the couches looking at the bar, and turned out perfect for cocktails and app, and enjoying my beautiful company (my wife). Hubby and I went for our anniversary and were excited to try a speakeasy in South Florida. Speakeasies are generally somewhat hidden and require a password to get in. I received a message with the password and instructions as well as a reminder to keep it a secret. Cool! As my husband and I were reviewing our evening, we realized we wanted to move our reservation back a half hour. I attempted to message and call multiple times but received no response however, since there was a 20 minute grace period we just arrived late. FYI they require a credit card hold for your reservation so if you don't show there's a $10 per person charge, which is why I attempted calling and messaging multiple times. When we arrived, armed with the password to get in, we were disappointed to see that the door was left ajar. Then when we entered the inner door, which we were instructed to press the doorbell, that too was left ajar, so we just walked in. As silly as it sounds, that was really disappointing. For the price they charge for drinks they could afford to add a weight to both doors to ensure that they close behind guests entering. The place was half full, but the waitress apologized for it being so crowded-- OK? We chose a couch that faced the bar, which ended up being a good, coz choice for us. We were hoping for a mixologist, but it looked like they only had one young woman who did not seem very happy to be there as she was likely overwhelmed with all the orders from the overcrowding. Hubby ordered a smoky old-fashioned and I ordered a cocktail that had orange and vanilla and cinnamon. Mine was delicious and hubby's was presented beautifully and while it tasted good, he felt it was a light pour. We ordered a smoked prosciutto and burrata appetizer, which was presented beautifully and tasted amazing. My girl and I love speakeasies, and the fact that this one serves food made it an easy choice for our six month halfiversary... It's "hidden" next door to Monroe's and you have to pre-register to get the secret entry code (so we did) which is kinda cool on its own. They call to confirm you're real and then text you the code to open the first door. Walk down a hallway (lit up in red of course), ring the doorbell and lift the phone to gain entry to the second door where you're confirmed yet again by a dapper young gentleman named Danny and you're in. I gotta say, our first experience lived up to the hype. Our server was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to apologize when something went wrong, which is as good as fixing it in my book... We started with cocktails while perusing the menu. My girl had a lovely 'Sunny Delight'. A cinnamon sugar rimmed take on a dreamsicle made with Don Julio anejo, and my repossdo old fashioned was as good as any I've had before. My lovely dining companion chose a couple appetizers for dinner, ahi tuna tacos and Philly cheesesteak egg rolls, while I went with the stuffed pork chop. Everything was amazing and doubly impressive since we were just expecting food tossed out by a strip club kitchen, but this was excellent. Unfortunately we did not know the flaming 'Bananas Foster' required advance notice since we were not able to partake. Prices were on par with the quality of the establishment and the live music was outstanding. So why then did this amazing and incredible night out only merit 4 stars? I'll tell you... 1. They had misplaced the smoker so my smoked old fashioned had quit cold turkey. Don't let the name throw you off..this is really an upscale restaurant with a wonderful varying menu. We have been 3 times now and it really is extraordinary. Beyond awesome food and service, it has a quiet ambiance that we enjoy. There is live music, a single young lady, and you can actually listen and converse without raising your voice. Perfect for us who find too much background noise annoying. Now, for those who are sensitive, it does adjoin Monroe's adult entertainment should you wish to go there after dinner. You cannot escape this fact because there is a giant window behind the bar, so the lights, sounds and visuals of a strip club are always present, not cool at these prices. The club music was interfering with the live jazz that was playing nicely. Food was pretty decent, although a bit pricey for the quality. Our waitress was lovely and everyone was very accommodating, so no complaints about the service. Drinks were very nicely made. I went here last night for the first time and I wouldn't go a second time. The food was good. My boyfriend had the filet mignon with the Mac and cheese and I had the stuffed chicken breast with truffle fries. His filet mignon was amazing but the Mac and cheese was basic at best. My chicken breast was good but the filling was not I scooped it out had a funny expired taste and smell. We got a little lost finding the place need a bigger sign or specify it's in the same parking lot as Monroe's. Parking for red light had cones on all of them so he had to get out and remove the cone so we could park which was kind of weird. What made me want to not return was the paying experience. When we asked for the bill the waitress brought it to me and kept flashing her mini flash light up and down and stood right next to me so it was very hard to see my bill. It is dim lighting but not enough where that was necessary at all. Also she asked for my ID when I gave her my card and said she needed to show it to her manager for approval which was weird. Not sure if it was because we were a minority. We were the first people who paid at that moment so idk if they do that to everyone but it was uncomfortable. Also if you are worried about people not paying perhaps collect ID and card at the beginning. Also when she brought my stuff back and it was time to tip she did the flashlight thing again and stood there next to me waiting for me to apply the tip so she could see it. Also was awkward and uncomfortable at most places you have time to review your bill and decide how much to tip. They also don't give you a receipt so again you can't see what you're paying for. Amazing experience. The speakeasy ambience complete with secret code needed at the door start the night off right. I'm hoping people go and check out this place soon cuz I really want to see it succeed. The manager Julian is amazing and working hard to ensure the staff is trained up properly to offer a top notch experience. The food is phenomenal. We have done the Calamari appetizer both times and it was extremely fresh tasting each time. We also started with the Waldorf salad which was well prepared and very flavorful. Main course we shared the stuffed pork chop which exceeded our expectations. Finally, the fried cheesecake was even better than expected. If the food wasn't enough for the five star review, the drinks are top notch. I requested an off menu drink of spicy filthy martini and bartender surprised with a great cocktail. We made a reservation, as required, for our anniversary for tonight (Sunday). When we got there no music or anything was playing...it took a server quite some time to even acknowledge that we were there. When she finally took our drink order it took almost 30 minutes to arrive. People sitting at the bar were being served their second drink before we got our first. The server seemed shocked (and annoyed) when we asked for menus so that we could order food. In addition, apparently on Sundays they do comedy night. The opening act asked if she could move our table away from us so that she could have her friends sit in the space in front of us. Then she seemed annoyed when we explained that we were going to eat and needed a table. After having been there for over an hour with empty drinks (waitress never came back over to ask if we wanted another drink or to take our food order), we just left. Just went here for dinner with my wife for the first time. There was only one waitress there and a bartender. We waited two hours for dinner and I had to ask three times (once to bartender and twice to our waitress) for another drink. My wife had the steak and said it was good. I had the chicken breast and it was ok. We ordered a side of potatoes and I'm pretty sure they were box powder potatoes you'd buy at Walmart. Definitely won't be going back there again. After you open the door you and answer the phone you're greeted by an attendant and greeted to your seat. The service was very good and l attentive to your needs filling your drink when they were empty and being very courteous. The ambiance and atmosphere was eclectic to say the least, the dim hues or purple red and blue along with the beautiful live music vocals created a very high class experience. Food is always subjective but the playing and the food I did order was very good along with the drinks.
