Went for my husbands birthday this year. It use to be our go to but it seemed like the food & menu had gotten a little stale so I guess we took a break or just totally forgot about it. Well when he said this was his b'day choice I said WHAT? Why?.... fast forward he made a good choice. Menu has changed a little, service after the 30 minute (but we were told 20) wait, was absolutely terrific. The food was off the chain. My daughter had told me about the dragon broccoli so we tried that, the lobster dip, the shrimp trio & the admiral's feast. Food was really good. I saw the ad on TV and was like got to have it! The lobster roll looks amazing. A New England Preppy tradition that is simple classic of three ingredients lobster, mayo, brioche. My expectations were simple the hard reality is I should have made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is what I left with. You receive at most a tablespoon of what appears of leftover bits of lobster. The mayo is absent for those mayo haters out there and what was called for fresh rolls was more suited for a rolled mystery meat that is only found at the picnic your force to attend. You hear tells of how it's a New England seafood traditional restaurant after this visit I question if they have ever been there. Would I say stay home. read more

Stopped in for endless shrimp, drinks and football. Great place to watch the game and bar service was really friendly. Quickly brought out biscuits that were warm and delicious as usual. First round was the sesame ginger shrimp and scampi... not a big fan of the SG shrimp but the scampi was what I came for and didn't disappoint... until the second round was barely edible... they were cooked almost crispy. Had to reorder. Last I got the shrimp pasta which was good. Overall pretty good experience for drinks and the service was lively and comical. That brought the score up. We had a phone order pick up and the girl who helped us was very friendly and helpful. She even gave us extra biscuits. However, the tilapia wasn't tasty. We always enjoy Endless Shrimp time at Red Lobster in Trussville BUT this time we experienced one of my biggest PET PEEVES. There is nothing more frustrating as standing in a packed lobby, some people in the outer entrance, for a 20 minute wait while you can see several sections of open tables. I think of this as very poor management and insulting to customers. Fortunately we had an incredible server, Kimberly, that went the extra mile to give us fantastic service. I wanted to Enjoy an evening out and my daughter recommended Red Lobster. I was in the mood for seafood so I was fine with her choice. My son doesn't really care longboat the food was food so off to Red Lobster we go. We went around 7 pm so I just knew we were in for a great dinner. Not!! We were seated and the waiter seemed as if he wanted to be at work but as the night goes on he proves different. I ordered the shrimp lungini with a red sauce, my daughter ordered a regular shrimp Alfredo and my son ordered the wood fire grilled Burger. Our meals came with salads so we received the smallest salads ever made. I began to move the lettuce around in the bowl and it had brown peices in it. I sent it back. The waiter returned with another small salad with a spoon of salad dressing on it. The main course then comes out, my entree had No shrimp in it! Just noodles and a light red sauce that tasted like ketchup with water in it. My daughters lunguini had some funky tasting White cheese on top and we sent them both back. We've visited the Vestavia location on many occasions because it is close to home. However our group recently decided to take the drive out to Trussville. We were pleasantly surprised by the service there. The waitress was extremely knowledgeable about everything. She has worked there for over 20 years!!! The food was everything you could ask for. One star and that star will go to the server. He was the only redeeming quality. Went to sit at the bar, dirty dishes piled up. One of the bartenders walked by 3 times and never cleaned them up. After a 10 minute wait we left and ran our errands. Went back waited 30 min to eat in the dining area. Dining room needed to be swept and had to ask them to wipe out the seat because it was wet. Felt dirty after holding the menus. Went to wash hands. Bathroom smelled and was covered in paper towels and water. Trash overflowing. Ordered lobster bisque and had to send it back. It tasted as if it was warmed in the microwave. Had the seafood feast with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Sprouts were decent. Crab legs were bone dry. Meat was almost cooked out of the crab legs. The shells just crumbled. Lobster tail was obviously frozen and rice was clumpy and hard. Throughout the meal the server remained calm and pleasant. Me and my husband decided to come here last night for our 1 year anniversary. We had such a good time. Our waitress Megan was very nice. Kept a constant check on us. My husband had the rainbow trout. He said it was delicious. He had rice pilaf and mashed potatoes with that. He had the house salad with French dressing. And he ate my coleslaw. I had the 7 oz peppercorn sirloin steak. With a baked potato with the works(butter,cheese,sour cream,) and rice pilaf. The steak was very delicious. As was my baked potato and rice pilaf. He had shock top to drink. And I had a raspberry coke. We had a constant stream of cheddar garlic biscuits. We had the warm apple crustada* for dessert. It was soo good. It had a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This was not my choice for seafood but family was in town from out of state so they didn't really know any better, even though I tried to warn them that we could do much better as far as seafood in the city. So I am here...parking was adequate. The waiting area seems like it was overwhelmed by the number of people waiting. The food presentation was not very good. It actually looked like smaller versions than what was on the menu. The service was just not good in general. The manager had to walk 5000 steps just while I was there apologizing and correcting other tables orders. I do remember a time when Red Lobster was top of the line and you still can't beat their top shelf Long Island iced teas, but mine never came out due to the waiter forgetting to place the order. However it seems like hard times have fallen upon the red lobster in trussville and if you are searching for a good seafood dinner you may want to look somewhere else in that area. read more

When the server finally came, he stated "They sat you in the wrong spot, I'm off work and have to get my kids". so ok, we dealt with that and did get a server. The first time I went to this place, it was fairly new, and I had high expectations. After all, how can a place that serves cheesy garlic biscuits be bad? Well, it can. The shrimp dish I ordered was mediocre. What it lacked in flavor, it more than made up in saturation of butter and oil. Biting and chewing that shrimp needed an extra set of canines and molars. That was tough. (Pun intended.) The service was lackluster. It was like they advertised for the most apathetic servers. I guess they don't rely on tips. We couldn't get refills on our drinks without looking like we were drowning in that booth, flailing our arms. It was a waste of time and money. So, because we are gluttons for punishment, we decided to try it again -- this time with the whole family. We were told that we would have to wait for one of the bigger tables to open up to be seated. Mind you, half the place was empty. We asked if we could just sit in one of the empty booths, and we were told "if you really have to" we could. So we bid farewell to Red Lobster and its 84 Health Inspection rating and probably saved ourselves a nasty bout of food poisoning. read more

I haven't eaten at Red Lobster in awhile; and I was highly disappointed. The only good thing about my lunch was the bread and coconut shrimp appetizer. I ordered the sailor's platter and both the fried flounder and shrimp were extremely bland. The garlic shrimp was just okay. The sweet potato soufflé was luke warm and horrible, and I was only able to eat one bite. I was highly dissapointed considering I spent $50 of my hard earned money. The service could have been better considering it wasn't crowed. We waited longer than we should've for our food that wasn't piping hot when we received it. I called the Trussville, Alabama Store to see about getting reservations for a party of 10 on a Saturday evening. The Manager suggested I send someone to the store 45 min. to an hour early to get on the waiting list because of limited space. I won't be coming back. First the wait for our food was around 45 mins and our salads were small and not very fresh. I ordered the New Orleans salmon and my husband got the Cajun pasta, there was nothing Louisiana about these dishes. Basically they tasted like salmon and fettuccine alfredo. It had been years since I had been to a Red Lobster restaurant until friends suggested we meet at the one located at the Pinnacle Square Shopping Center. My reasoning behind not going was simply that I like hush puppies with my seafood and Red Lobster quit having them on their menu way, way back, opting with cheddar cheese biscuits as everyone knows. I was hesitate about agreeing to meet there but finally gave in. When we were seated and our waitress, Alice, greeted us, I ask if they had started back serving the hush puppies. She told me she didn't believe so but would speak with her manager. When she came back she totally surprised me saying they didn't have them but their manager said he would make some for me. Let me tell you, they were FABULOUS! I had a basket of at least 20 or more, which myself and the other 3 devoured. Alice was perhaps one of the best waitresses/servers I have ever had, and I've dined in restaurants all over the U.S. and in Europe. She was very attentative to our tables needs without being obtrusive. With me the service is the best enhancement to any meal, either making it a great evening or an absolute disaster. Thanks Alice for making ours outstanding! The manager even came out, introduced himself and ask how I enjoyed the hush puppies. That really impressed me, not to mention the fact that he offered to make them especially for me. Now what better could a diner ask for. The four of us will definitely meet here again in the very near future, and most definitely request a table with Alice. Recently had late lunch here while on trip to bham. RL remains a favorite of mine since the first one opened over by Brookwood. All you whiners and complainers are just like 99 percent of people that leave reviews, you feel you got disrespected by a waiter, you didn't get your water glass filled or tea, you generally are people that wake up jerks and you remain a jerk throughout your day and life. Oh, and Most of you don't even know how to use proper grammar. RED Lobster is a great place to eat. Family friendly, you can bring the kids and enjoy fried seafood. It's not Fine Dining and if you want Fine Dining, go to a mega bucks Fine Dining restaurant. I once spent my birthday which was also Mother's Day at a local RL here in San Antonio and the entire time I had a sick baby boy in one arm. Wailing away, even once threw up on me, I did not let it deter me from enjoying the company of my Mom and my birthday. The place was so loud my wailing baby didn't interrupt anyone.
