Met with some friends for a Friday night which they already had a table set up once I'd arrived. I ended up getting the Ultimate Feast with a side salad and crab topped mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes taste like it was instant mashed and didn't have much flavor. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium and surely enough, it was medium and the taste was delicious with the perfect amount of seasoning. The grilled shrimp was ok, but nothing to brag about and the rice wasn't all that great either. I enjoyed my lobster tail along with the coconut shrimp that came with a pina colada sauce. As I was signing my name on the receipt, I scramble the section of the tipping since I was giving my waitress cash. What turned me off is she'd asked me why I scramble that part off. I gave you cash tip, so why are you asking me about that? I felt like she's wanted to add her on tips onto her copy of the receipt. I wasn't born yesterday for you to play this game with. I did speak to the manager about the situation and he asked me her name which surprisingly, I remember. He apologized for the inconvenience and that's the only reason why I'm not rating this place a 1 star.

I wanted to come in and give Red Lobster a 5 star review for old times but unfortunately the quality just wasn't there. We arrived and the restaurant was pretty dead so there was no host. Our waitress ended up seating us near the bar. I believe she was seating, working her section, and bartending. I completely get it and I won't ask for much but an okay attitude is expected in a service job. She was just not the nicest the whole time. We ordered our food. It took a while to come out. She asked if we needed any steak sauce. She got busy and forgot to bring it. When my boyfriend finally cut into his steak it wasn't really cooked. Just charred on the outside. Granted he did order medium rare, this was almost blue. We asked her if she would warm it up and she took the plate without saying a word. We just decided that we didn't want the food and got our check to go

It seems this place is under new management. Joe Moore greeted us at the door. We felt welcome immediately as we walked in. Honestly, the whole experience was better than we've ever had at this restaurant . They definitely stepped it up a notch.

We wanted to go to RL since we heard it'd be shutting down and I remembered going with my Grandma to the one off Crestwood Blvd as a kid in the 90s and always was a treat. I now understand why these are getting shut down if most experiences are like the one we just had. We came in and the restaurant was about half full and clean. We, as a family of 4, with little kids were sat,(plenty of open tables in dining room) were sat in the back booth in the BAR right by the waiter station/kitchen/cleaning supplies. Unacceptable and plan weird to sit us in the bar area with little kids. So we politely asked to be moved, to which they obliged. We were greeted and started our orders. The mozzarella sticks were cold not a cheese pull to be seen at all. The kids could barely even eat them and they love them anywhere else. Then we all ordered and there was no flavor. My grilled shrimp were barely edible due to being so dry and tasteless. My husband got the surf and turf with fried shrimp that were OK but was not even asked how he wanted his steak cooked and he said it was so hard to eat. He had a hard time finishing it. The kids got chicken fingers that tasted like they were out of a bag, which is fine. It's kids food. I guess and two orange slices as a side. the popcorn, shrimp kids meal was probably the best thing that any of us had and my daughter enjoyed it. All in all we spent a good chunk of change and had to ask for refills our drinks, among other things, and the waitress even asked us if we wanted more biscuitsto which we all said yes, very excitedly and she could not remember to bring them after reminding her again. Hopefully this was just a isolated incident, but the food was just got awful and expensive and service was a catastrophe. You win some you lose some. We tried and this was a fail.

I have been aware of the Monday through Friday special. Felt that Wednesday $25 steak and lobster was a good deal so I went for it. I got the baked potato with it. Surprising that the steak was cooked to perfection. I ordered the medium rare and it was just right. The lobster was good as well. The curbside worked out well. Server came out pretty decent time. Had only a short wait to get my food I may try another dish out one day

The service was good and the staff was very friendly. The garlic biscuits were freshly baked and were delicious. The ambiance was very relaxing and we had a nice evening.

Overall consistently have been happy with everything I have eaten, but I will say that while still pretty good the burgers are not as good as they were early on. One of the big draws for me has always been the outdoor patio area that is shared with the other businesses that are part of the Trussville Entertainment District (TED). The covering over the area keeps you out of the direct sun but still has a very open air feel. On my most recent visit I got the Feral Smash Burger with Cheddar instead of American Cheese. I ordered the tots for my side because I swore that I had gotten them many times in the past. Looking back at all my photos, clearly I was mistaken. Since I am not a big fan of sweet potato the bartender brought me fries instead to go with my side of Beer Cheese which is well worth the added cost. Depending on when you go, you may have to go inside to order at the bar for the outdoor seating (such as I did today). Other days when the TED is busier and peak times you can order at the outdoor bar. For solo lunch dining I prefer other options in the TED but Ferus is great for groups and outdoor dining. I am sure I will be back especially when my daughter comes to town since she likes to refill her growler with the seasonal sours.

For context, I'm a certified KCBS BBQ judge and run a small BBQ catering business. That doesn't make me special, but it does mean I know BBQ. Rodney Scott is well-known in the BBQ world for whole hog, so I've been looking forward to trying his food for a long time. Today was the day. I ordered the 3-meat plate with ribs, pulled pork, and turkey, plus two sides. Ribs: Excellent smoke flavor and seasoning, but very undercooked--they needed at least another hour on the smoker. I received three bones, managed to eat most of two, and left the third. Big disappointment. Turkey: Tender but dry, and it tasted like it had been sliced a while earlier and held. Very neutral flavor with no smoke or seasoning coming through. Just okay, but I'd skip it next time. Pulled pork: Completely underwhelming. Tender, but almost no flavor and none of the smoke I expected, especially after tasting the ribs. Mac and cheese: Grainy and not enjoyable. There are several reasons mac and cheese can turn grainy, but either way, I'd pass on it next time. Collard greens: Surprisingly good, but I was shocked they didn't have pepper juice available--a Southern staple with greens. I'd eat these again, but I'd bring my own pepper juice. Overall: I left disappointed. I mentioned to the staff--who were very friendly--that the meal wasn't good, but it was brushed off. With the level of anticipation I had for Rodney Scott's, this visit didn't come close to expectations. I don't see myself returning.

First, I can appreciate the aesthetics of the restaurant, definitely a family style vibe. I'm not familiar with the area, so the parking was perfect. Step out your car and you're inside the restaurant within a few steps. Food, I ordered the grits and eggs. Not a great presentation but the tastes was ok. My friend ordered a sandwich with fried green tomatoes. She thought that the tomatoes were delicious! The batter on the tomatoes was crispy without being soggy. They were seasoned just right, in her opinion. Overall the food was ok. The service was really good. There seems to be a need for a little more training for the wait staff, which happens at most places these days. The staff were very courteous and professional, just a little confused in taking orders. We enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. I would go back.

Including a key Garden Burger for my vegetarian daughter. Once she decided on a Cheese Quesadilla as an alternative, The sidewinder fries and tots were also not available as sides. The Street Corn Dip starter was the highlight. We were all scraping the sides of the bowl to get every last morsel. My daughter's Cheese Quesadilla was larger than she expected and filled with a lot of cheese. I split The Social Burger (beef patty topped with Gouda cheese, pimento cheese, local strawberry pepper jelly, fried green tomato & onion straws) and Shoestring Fries with my wife. For lunch it was enough, especially with the appetizer. I would order again! My son-in-law enjoyed his Trussvegas Burger (beef patty topped with cream cheese, jalapeno peppers, local strawberry pepper jelly, bacon & onion straws) and Fries as well. The person taking the order over the phone was very pleasant to deal with and likely was the same energetic person that took care of my wife when she picked it up. The 2 previous times have eaten here were dine in and I don't recall any of the service issues mentioned by others and the food was great then too. I hope that they will improve the website experience to include a current menu because that is key for us as well as others with dietary restrictions in preparing for and planning meals. This wasn't our first choice but being open at lunchtime on the holiday helped make the decision for us. We might try it again but other places will likely remain our first choice.
