Very friendly staff~ every single person said hello, not just your own server. I left Iowa in 1987, so I am kind of jaded and not used to such friendliness. Let me preface my review by saying I've been to this location numerous times and have always had a good experience. Today was different. I had fortunate or rather unfortunate experience of having Tamoka S. as my waitress. She was either having a bad day or just hated her job. I am leaning more towards the latter. We ordered the steak with the lobster savannah and lobster bake. Steak came out bloody rare which wasn't what I requested. I had to ask the host to find my server because she was no where to be found. She finally comes out from hiding, I told her about my steak and she said "okay". Brings the steak to the back and shortly comes back out, drops it off at the table and runs off. She never refilled any of our drinks or ask if we needed anything else. Only other time I saw her was when she dropped off the check. If you ever find yourself in Tamoka's section, I would suggest that you just carry out. read more

Got take out to celebrate my daughter's new job. It was a Monday night. Not a busy Friday or weekend night, just a Monday. Spent almost $100 on the dinner. Shrimp was missing from one dish, so it was just noodles. Almost $17 for noodles. The lobster mashed potatoes, which are extra $$, were completely missing. And my daughter's dessert was missing. You'd think this would be the end of it, but no. I called the manager that night and they said they would send us a gift card. Went for lunch last Sunday since Waterfront was closed. The person I went with loves fish and chips, but was repulsed that the fish had skin on it. That doesn't bother me as much so I traded her the tiny pieces of flounder from the admiral's feast. She also got the chocolate cake which was close to $10 since she got it to go She didn't get the icecream, but it was the same price, but tiny piece of chocolate cake. Delicious, but tiny. My admiral's feast was disappointing. I use to love it, but everything was small and bland. It was mostly fries. Coleslaw was the most bland I've ever had. The waitress and cherry Pepsi's were the best. We spent combined after tip about a $100. We were so disappointed. Unfortunately my sister inlaw wants to go on Thursday with the whole family for her birthday...I will either convince not to waste all of our money or I will order a cherry Pepsi and side salad. I couldn't believe how fresh everything tasted and that all stayed considerably hot until we were finished. Not sure how this was done but what a pleasant surprise! I ordered the Bar Harbor Bake and was impressed by the mussels, scallops and lobster tails surrounded in garlic noodles and sauce. It's enough for two but a few times a year I get this and its my fave dish. My girls got a Lobster special "Crab Lover's Dream" that had king crab, Alaskan snow crab legs along with a side of mashed potatoes. My girlfriend and I went out for a Saturday night dinner! We had an awesome waiter named Bo! He had remembered us from a few months back because we ordered fresh Atlantic salmon and the cook forgot the sesame ginger glaze on the salmon. Standard chain restaurant, gets busy on Sunday afternoons and weekdays, has a dim-lit "date night and/or family" setting. We never wait a long time here, and even though there is always a screaming child off in the distance, the atmosphere is always upbeat. Yet another very disappointing visit to the Westown Parkway Red Lobster. We arrived at 4:30 in the afternoon and still had a 20 min wait before being seated. After being seated it was 10+ minutes before a server made the first appearance at our table to see if we wanted any appetizers. After putting in the appetizer request the server promptly turned and walked away didn't take any drink orders, bring any water to the table or even offer to bring a basket of rolls to the table. The entire meal if we wanted a drink we had to get up and go to the bar and get it ourselves. Coasters were never offered we had to find napkins on our own and fold them into squares so the drinks we brought from the bar didn't leave water all over the tabletop, The temperature inside was cold, cold enough that to be comfortable while sitting at the table you needed a light jacket or sweatshirt on. The appetizer was late (served long after the salads were brought to the table). The food was warm enough (not hot) but warm enough to eat. We have been longtime patrons of the Red Lobster restaurants here in WDM. From the beginning when they were located on 86th near Hickman RD and after they opened on Westown Parkway. This restaurant has gone from a regular planned place to enjoy a nite out, to an occasional place to eat out, to a do we want to chance it place to eat out, to a 'we just don't want to go there anymore' restuarant. It's unfortunate but I can't recommend this restaurant as one you could enjoy. I would even be willing to look past the massive crator pot-hole you need to bounce your car through to get into the parking lot if the experience was better. (Pro-Tip here: if there is someone leaving when you want to pull in.... Let them go first so you can swing wide to miss that crator when you pull in.) read more

Absolutely overwhelming the frustration I feel after being there! 40 minute wait to get in, (fine, it's Sunday at 4:45-whatever.) seated at the table 25 minutes-no water, no biscuits, no nothing. Waitress Linda comes and is very apologetic and obviously overwhelmed, she deserves a 6 star rating. We ordered our food right away. 10 more minutes before the water comes. Food comes 45 minutes later-missing one of our parties meals-another 10 minute wait. Next to impossible to catch Linda for straws, butter for crab legs, extra napkins. We must be gluttons for punishment because we ordered dessert-30 minutes later, the order is wrong, the coffee is served cold. Waited for the check 30 minutes. Poor Linda looking absolutely frazzled, I personally would have been in tears if I were her. People got up and left after ordering due to excessive wait time . Linda is bringing food to empty tables now. Linda could have made 4 times the money tonight if ANYTHING would have managed properly. Absolutely unacceptable!!! 3 HOUR dinner at a chain restaurant-are you kidding me???? Ambiance-pretty empty looking restaurant and my napkins were sticking to the table. This is easily the worst Red Lobster I've ever visited. We ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizer and what arrived were button mushrooms with little pieces of cheese on them. One of our party member ordered a steak, and describing it as a hockey puck insults a hockey puck. The steak was incredibly overcooked and terrible. When we asked for the manager he said they used the wrong mushrooms for the appetizer and the steak shouldn't look like that. No kidding... The problem is the staff. A cook selected the wrong mushrooms for the appetizer, the person who plated the appetizer let it slip by, our server allowed the appetizer to slip by too, and the male manager didn't seemed concerned by this. They were multiple people working there that just don't care. The Red Lobsters in Ames Iowa and Mount Juliet Tennessee are both outstanding. Avoid this one. read more

Worst location and experience ever! Went here on a Saturday evening (10/20/18). We checked in online. Got to the restaurant and had to wait an additional 30 minutes from what we were told online. We were also told only 15 min. to wait from the hostess. She was incorrect also. We had a toddler that wouldn't be lasting much longer because of the wait and our waitress seemed understanding. She said we could order the endless shrimp and she would make sure we'd receive more than one serving of the shrimp. She lied however. We only received one serving. It arrived cold sitting on a super hot plate-- which was clearly sitting under a heat lamp. Our salads weren't even handed to us. A server brought them out, sat them next to our table and disappeared for 15 min. Then another person came out with the entrees. I asked if we could have our salads first. Our waitress didn't show up until she wanted us to pay. She only had one other table. Worst service ever!! I've reported this to the general manager, no response. I also reported these issues through the red lobster website and no response. In summary, don't waste your time here. The service is awful. They clearly don't know how to train their staff, this place is a mess and their food is gross by the time it arrives to you on a hot plate from a lamp. Do not go here!! read more

I can't say I go out to many seafood places but I sure do love red lobster. I can't help but to go 3 or 4 times just during the endless shrimp promotion alone. No dressing was sent with the salad. We ordered the coconut shrimp with pina colada sauce. Received one serving of pina colada sauce. The other container contained cole slaw which we did not order. We received a grand total of 17 shrimp... 4 per person. The last time we ordered this we received 32 shrimp... 8 per person. Basically, the entire order was a total disaster with the exception of the biscuits. Last but not least, we sent an e-mail/contact us message through the website and have heard nothing back from them. Great atmosphere when I first walked in. The staff was very friendly and our waitress Rachel was excellent!!! She never missed a beat and always made sure we were taken care of. The food was very very good and the drinks were out of this world. But overall the restaurant shows its true meaning of being a five star restaurant and definitely holds its place in my book as top five restaurants here in Des Moines! Red Lobster is your typical chain restaurant that isn't super good or very bad. It's just average and you go when you really can't make up your mind on where to go :) The cheddar biscuits are really good though, and sometimes I can just eat that and have a cold beer. Seafood dishes aren't very cheap so it's comparable to Joe's Crab Shack prices. You do get a lot of food here, so that's a plus. read more

This is a place my family has been going to for years only because when my dad comes to town he has no sense of adventure and continually goes back to Red Lobster again and again and again... Anyway, the food isn't horrible but there are many places that are better. Their basic formula is fried and broiled seafood served on a scalding hot plate. One thing I have noticed over the years is the quality of the food has gone downhill and portions are getting smaller while prices continue to stay the same or climb. Many dinners on the menu cost well over $20 and while I understand that we are in Iowa and seafood isn't abundant here, their prices are usually the same no matter where you go so it takes location out of the equation. With that said, the biscuits are still the bomb and make the trip worth while. For some reason the wait for here and it's neighbor Olive Garden is horrendous, especially on the weekends. It's not unusual to see waits of an hour or more and the waiting area so full people are stacked up outside. read more

I was greeted the moment I came in, seated quickly, and my waitress responded quickly. I have a food allergy, and it turns out the waitress had the same allergy. She went out of her way to ensure that none of my food had my allergen, and there was no fear of accidental contamination bc she knew what to look for. The food was great. I love Red Lobster and this location is just as good as the others ones I've been to around the country. I always go to Red Lobster when I'm craving a heavy pasta meal, their pastas are creamy and fulfilling. I have had their seafood in the past and it was good, but nothing exciting. Staff is friendly here as with other locations. Their cheesy biscuits are also a top reason why I enjoy eating here so much. I have been dining at Red Lobster for the past forty years in four different states. The menu has changed here and there but amazingly they still have the same baked potatoes and broiled bay scallops. My favorite lunch meal is the combination of broiled scallops and grilled shrimp skewers, along with baked potato and salad. Also, I like the the trio of lobster tail, grilled scallops and grilled shrimp.
