Fire Pit, Cocktails & Chill (Literally) We came to Red Mountain Bar & Grill just for drinks... and stayed because they lit a fire and basically dared us to leave. They opened the lower patio, and let me tell you -- it's giving "mountain lounge with a side of vacation." As soon as the sun dipped, it got a little brisk (read: we considered cuddling strangers), but the fire and cocktails kept us warm enough to stay civilized. Service was great -- super friendly and quick with the drink offers, which we obviously accepted. Priorities. Didn't try the food this round, but the menu looked so good we were low-key planning our return trip by the second round. Highly recommend if you enjoy good drinks and mountain air!! The service from Bret was awesome! The $42 New York strip ordered MR was despicable! It was 1/2 inch thick, well done and flavorless. The $22 cod was decent mostly, but greasy as all get out and a few pieces were rubbery. This is the 2nd time we are there and are not impressed. We have had much better food at Arby's. read more

I came here with my boyfriend's family (party of 8) yesterday afternoon and it was an awful experience. When we came in, it was empty and we were greeted and accommodated promptly. As we waited for everyone in our group to show up we got waters, starting off strong there. However, we placed our order and waited 30-45 minutes. The party next to us ordered some food well after us and got theirs out in a timely manner. When the food started coming out cold, we sent it back, left cash for our drinks, and found another spot to grab some burgers. I'm a bartender myself, as well as my boyfriend so we understand the complexities that go into an experience like this. A beautiful restaurant with an amazing view. We had a large party of 12 and a dog and they had no problem accommodating us. We had the entire terrace to ourselves. They took their time serving us drinks and d allowing us a relaxed social experience. No rush to get us out we were able to lounge and relax and enjoy our view. The food was all great. The nachos , empanadas , steak, burgers, pulled pork, chicharrones, salads, falafel. All so good. We would love to come and spend another evening . Weird AF vibe but no wait to get seated. Our beers came fast and the seats were comfy. We couldn't get a beer glass and they weren't sure where they were. What? We asked if we could get chicken tacos and I guess the answer was no since they brought surf and turf sliders instead. Weird stuff, so many one offs. We were not the only ones that were trying to get simple requests, another round,silverware, a working pen to sign the check .... Cute little bar, but the service sucks. It was a SATURDAY evening and one person was working. Thankfully, we had already eaten elsewhere and were here for drinks & dessert. Both of those took some time to receive, but ended up being decent. However, why they don't have a coffee pot in the bar is beyond me. I love coffee with my dessert and had to wait another 15 min. after receiving the dessert for someone to finally run over to the Cliff House's restaurant to get a cup. I felt sorry for the waitress; she was stressed out and I did not blame her - hey owners, add some staff! This place has a nice outdoor patio garden area and balcony, and the stairwell was lit up with pretty blue lights, but for our first visit it was cold and snowing so we will have to try these options another time. I'm hoping our second visit will be better, but I won't hold my breath. Next visit for us is do or die. We give places a second chance, but only one. See you again, RM Bar & Grill. read more

The food was horrendous. All three of the burgers we ordered were raw. The pulled pork sandwich had more fat and gristle than pork itself. The service was absolutely terrible keeping us there for over an hour to pay way too much money for an awful experience. Decided to give this place a shot despite the reviews. I do not understand why this cute place gets such a bad wrap. The atmosphere is cozy thanks to the fireplace, red walls and unique lighting. Our waitress was also the bartender, I felt she did a great job taking care of the entire room. I tried the margarita and asked her to skip the syrup, it was tasty. We had the Cliff House Salad, Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, and the Beef Brisket Sandwich. The chicken was super tender and I really thought the pimento cheese really gave it an interesting flavor. The salad was tasty and a perfect balance of all the ingredients. I didn't try the Beef. I do plan on dining here again maybe even in the summer when the patio is open. I've been waiting for this place to reopen and today is the post-pandemic reopening! The downstairs patio (tables have umbrellas) is a great spot to enjoy your meal outdoors. The menu is pretty extensive and my portobello grilled sandwich was delicious. Great selection of beers- including local micro-brews. The service was attentive and cheerful. My wife and I went there today for lunch. I had the Pastrami bacon, lettuce and tomato. The sandwich had only 1 slice of tomato, 1 small leaf of lettuce, the toasted bread was falling apart, and the bacon was burnt and crumbling. My wife had the pita and hummus. The hummus had no flavor and the pitas were burnt. We even had to ask for napkins and utensils. Nobody came back to even see how our meal was. We stopped here after a recommendation from our Bike Tour Guide. We were an hour early, since it doesn't open until 2PM. So we almost left to go elsewhere, but instead, we walked around town to pass the time to go back at 2. So we go back at 2 and we are waiting at the entrance outside. No one came out at 2, so we walked into the hotel to go through that entrance. As soon as we walk in, the hostess threw her hand up in the air, rolled her eyes, no smile and just seemed irritated that we showed up to eat. She walks outside, down the stairs, and flings open the gate that our friends are standing by. One of our friend jokes with her and she responds with "uh huh, you're eager." Needless to say we decided it was not going to be an enjoyable experience, probably horrible service, so we decided to leave to go somewhere else. Went there a week ago, Hoping this review would turn out differently, sadly now, I'm just even more pissed off. I had high expectations of this place, and they've made so that I would never want to come back. There was only one server at the night of 10/14, it was not very busy, why is hard to justify the treatment we got. We ordered appetizers with intention of ordering food, once our appetizers came out. Almost 30 minutes later we realized that we still didn't have appetizers, out glasses were empty and the server was no where to be found. Finally, she comes out (empty handed) telling us that the printer had not printed, she apologizes and says that our order will be ready soon. We are irritated and hungry. We told her fine, but that 2 of us out of 3, were not going to order a main course. The one main course that was ordered was poutine. Finally after over 40 minutes, our order for the appetizers comes out INCOMPLETE. We let the cook know, she was the one running out food. Again, bringing up the printer issue. We also have to mentioned to her that our server has been MIA and we need refills. Server finally shows up with tea and tells us that she would remove our first app from our bill for the bad time. We are left somewhat pleased with that. So we wait some more, our missing appetizer comes and the shrimp is RAW. We are looking for our server to let her know how displeased we are but no sign of her. We decided that enough was enough, we left $10 bill to cover for our iced teas, got up and left. Being in disbelief of the whole situation, getting into our car, we notice the cook taking pictures of our license plate blaming we were running out on our bill... The service left much, much to desire, and for the little that the Manager, Hillary did as far as to patch up things with customers who had the WORST dinning experience of their lives, saddens me because this is not how hospitality should be. I wish I could give two separate reviews: one for food and one for service. Although the food was wonderful (though expensive), the service was bad enough to ensure that I will never go there again. We went with friends who are regulars, and even they were surprised at how rude the waiter was to me. Chris, the guy, targeted me from the start. He seemed to take offense when I asked for a side salad instead of fries. He made snide comments about it. Then he really gave me a hard time when I asked him to leave the bun off my burger. Really, what I ordered was none of his business. When I asked for more tea, he brought tea to my sister and said, "Oh, was there someone else? I didn't notice." When I was looking for the restroom, he told me I had to go outside and around the building, which I'm sure was some kind of attempt at humor. When others ordered dessert, he kept hounding me. I told him I couldn't eat sweets on my particular diet. So he put the creme brulee in front of me as a "joke." He made extremely rude comments to me all night. My friend, the regular, even asked him to lay off, but he kept going out of his way to snub and insult me. I'm sure he was trying to be funny, but a comedian knows the line between humor and bullying. This guy certainly did not. I left there feeling humiliated. This has never happened to me before. I am a friendly person. I did nothing to invite his behavior. What is worse is that he decided to go on a very long tirade about how marijuana is not bad for people, and about how his teenage daughter tells him all about her sex life. Did I mention that I had a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old at the table? The conversation was completely inappropriate to have with customers, and especially in front of kids. When my friend tried to end the conversation, he kept going on about alcohol, pot, and his parenting choices. Finally, when we asked for the check, we told him how we wanted to split the bill. He said he had it, and not to worry. Then he proceeded to split it in half instead of 5 on one bill and 2 on the other. I should have talked to a manager right then, but honestly, I just wanted to get out of there. I'm disappointed that I will have to miss out on a positive food experience just to avoid this terrible waiter. read more

On a Saturday night, thwy had a terriffic guitar player, equally adept at a Beatles medley as he was at Fur Elise or The Malaquena. The menu, however, is far too small. The main hostess was in a complete panic, told us she was "inundated" and was calling for backup. After standing and waiting for several minutes, the only waitress finally asked to seat us. We asked for a beer and wine menu (no draft beer-how is that possible for a bar and grill??), she couldn't find a beer menu, just told us their selection was extensive but couldn't really recall more than one or two microbrews. She left saying something about finding a menu again. By now we had been there for approximately 15-20 minutes and had nothing. We chose to leave. Quite honestly, in a tourist town, if this is the norm, how does it stay open? Since zero stars is not an option, 1 is the worst we can do here. We went here with high hopes , being inside the Cliff House , and according to the other reviewers uses the same kitchen. We ordered the Artichoke dip which came in a shallow plate and included carrot and celery sticks but the dip was so chunky it was not possible to use them. The crostini were so hard you could have broken a tooth! On to the main course a Cheeseburger and Fish and Chips. The Fish and Chips were boring beer battering was flavorless I know it is light but the batter lacked any flavor. The pickled onion remoulade had less flavor than Miracle Whip lacking any flavor. The dish also came with some dry cabbage mixed with a lot of peanuts. The fries were old and cold I did request fresh fries which I did get. Overall the meal lacked seasoning and flavor so bland usually the tarter sauce is what makes the fish and chips along with the batter. The batter was totally flavorless I do not know how they were able to take the flavor out of the remoulade! We were not the only people to feel this way. We saw another diner that ordered the Mac n cheese he added salt and pepper then tasted his food then he just cranked and cranked the pepper mill. Absolutely Amazing little spot at the Cliff House Hotel. Chris our bartender made the whole experience!!!! What an asset to the place. The wife hade the Cliff House burger a combination of ground buffalo and beef. Chris assured us that the combo would not be "gamey". It was not! So sad about the service in this establishment. We order pizza an it came out warm, our waitress never came back to ask if we were ok or if we needed another drink. Finally a personnel from the kitchen came over and I asked for a Colorado mule waited 20 minutes for it. Until I finally walked up to the bar and cancelled the drink order and got the check instead.. the new waiter took some money off the check because he knew how awful the service was. My husband & I had dinner here last night (10/4/12). Our waitress was awesome & very personable - she deserves 5 stars. The 2 stars is because the kitchen & food deserves 0 stars. There were only 4 other people there when we sat down & they were not eating, just drinking. We ordered drinks & food. Based on our waitress' recommendation, my husband ordered the burger & I ordered the personal pizza. 40 minutes later, our food arrived (after the family of 4 food that came in 5 minutes after us). The medium burger arrived well done & cold. The pizza arrived with the pizza pie partially uncooked/doughy. Considering how long it took, we decided not to say anything & just ate the terrible food. My husband and I went to the Cliff House and decided to give their Bar and Grill a try. We had been there before but everything was mediocre. What a wonderful surprise we had! The food was amazing! Hillary was such a doll! Wonderful bartender! We met Chef Marsha and what a charming young lady. She seemed so surprised by our compliments but surely she's heard them before. We had the Garlic and Brie to start and it was absolutely amazing. The Quinoa Bowl and a Pizza afterwards. We stayed and finished our bottle of wine and the atmosphere is so so cozy. We were staying two nights at The Cliff House and decided to try the sports bar. There literally was no one in the place except two guitar players. No wait staff no patrons. Someone finally showed up and we asked to sit outside so rather than show us to a table he shoved two menus at us and that was the last we ever saw of him. One of best kept secrets in Colorado Springs. Excellent drink selection and the food comes from the same 5-star kitchen in the Cliff House.

The server was wonderful. The food was terrible. We ordered nachos and it was a pile of greasy homemade chips with a puddle of pork chunks and a vat of sour cream. Terrible. Don't eat here. Yelp reviews in this area have been totally off. read more
