This spot, in the best way has a local divey feel with awesome food and service!! Pool tables and a Jukebox. We ordered some onion rings, salads and sandwiches. The food was awesome!! Big portions so definitely could have shared the sandwich. Every waiter and server we interacted with was awesome! We were taking our time so we enjoyed catching up and not feeling rushed. The place was not huge but when we got there we did not have a long wait. There was 4 of us and everyone loved the food. The staff was also very nice. We were recommended to try the fries with ranch that it was the best so I figured they made their own homemade ranch or something, but later found out jr was just hidden valley. We had some time to kill before dinner and decided to stop in for a beer and a snack. We definitely enjoyed this little spot! We sat at the bar and were waited on quickly. They have a solid beer selection and our drinks hit the spot after an afternoon of walking around. There is an open air kitchen in the back of the restaurant slanging out mostly burgers and other bar food. We nibbled on some onion rings and while they weren't anything extraordinary, it was a nice portion and they came out crispy. The barstools however are up there for some of the worst I've ever sat in. Weirdly vertical backs, slippery material and a super small seat made hanging out for a long time a bit uncomfortable. Unfortunately, one of the members of our table who was clearly new to North America and unaware of the tipping culture decided to not tip (the 3 rest of us did). We were unaware of this at the time, but I quickly caught on when our waiter went over to the bartender and complained about this quite loud about having to split the bill four ways and being delayed. He then made us wait before giving the remaining bills after telling the bartender he would do just that. I understand it was busy and that the lack of tip from a single member is seen as rude (she is now aware of this) but speaking out loud where customers can hear and immediately changing tone leaves a bad taste in my mouth after an originally great experience. read more

I am 63 years old, and I must say that I have never experienced anything like this in my life. Since I'm a frequent visitor to Manitou Springs, tonight made my fourth time to eat at the Keg Bar. This time, I ate there, two consecutive nights, spending a total of $80. Last night I ordered a steak, which came with a baked potato. The waitress was super nice and courteous. She asked me if I wanted the baked potato loaded, which was extra. I said. "sure". Unfortunately, when my meal came out, the waitress, politely told me that the baked potatoes were not ready yet, and that the kitchen decided to put mashed potatoes on my plate, which they covered in the loaded toppings (chives, bacon, cheese, with a side of butter and sour cream). I said that's okay, but I wish they would have told me before they substituted the mashed potatoes, as I would never have requested loaded mashed potatoes. She was nice and apologetic, and offered to remake the mashed potatoes, without the toppings. I said, "No, that's okay, but can you remove the charge for the toppings". She, politely said "yes". I really liked the way that she handled the situation, so I apologized, and told her "Sorry, If it seemed like I was complaining, and that I knew it wasn't her fault"; because she was so gracious and professional, I returned the next night. A guy with a beard greeted me, and seemed friendly enough, although I sensed a slight chip on his shoulder, but nothing major. He was pleasant enough, until the end, and that's when he started throwing a temper tantrum. This started because, as I was paying, he asked, "Is there anything he can do for you". I said, "No, I just need one more refill on my ice tea, and I would be leaving. His mood became fairly sinister. With a stern look on his face, he said, "Sorry, but we can only give you one refill on ice tea, without charging you extra". At first, I thought he might have been kidding, as I have never had any restaurant in Colorado say that to me. I said, "Oh, I was here last night, and the waitress didn't mention that. He then threw a temper tantrum, abruptly grabbing a menu from the host stand, and said, "It says right here that we charge for refills, after the first refill". I had already paid, and he wouldn't give back my credit card, which I asked him repeatedly. He then said, "I understand that you were a d*ck", last night too", which I wasn't, at all. He then said "Get out, and never come back", which I was already in the process of doing. I had already eaten and paid, I had no need to stay, nor did I ever refuse to leave. I was sitting right next to the door. He then became enraged, and began to get really aggressive with me, yelling back to the bar, "This guy has to leave"!!!! His behavior could only be described as crazy. It was so bad that, as I was trying to leave, he kept saying "get out", and then he physically pushed me, with his body against me, pushing me out the door. I had to push him off of me, and I said a few choice words. It was the most outrageous experience that I've ever had. I have never been put into a situation where I felt like I had to defend myself, from a member of the waitstaff. Later, It all made sense to me, as to why he seemed to have a chip in his shoulder; he was angry because I requested to have the charge removed from the error that they made, from the night before. I was never mad about that, because the waitress was great; besides that, who gets mad about something like that? Apparently, he doesn't have the ability to mange his emotions, even though this guy was a grown man, and should know better, especially when dealing with the public. read more

My wife & I ordered 2 different sandwiches & split them. We also ordered well shots from the bar @$7.00 each. All in all the dining experience was very good. Staff @ bartender are very accommodating & the restrooms were kept clean thru our whole time there almost 2 hours. Overall it was very nice. We were told to go here by a local shop owner. Definitely recommend for the food and the service. The interior is very divey...but lots of tables for groups (4- 10). I had a fantastic time here! Our waitress was really hustling. Best server I had my whole trip. I think her name was Michelle (middle aged lady, brown hair). I had the berry salad. It was great! Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries over lettuce w blue cheese crumbles...could've used a little more dressing (I was given one little cup). Cocktails, please! I should mention that they have a decent beer selection but I preferred a cocktail as these kinds of bars pour heavy. The Keg did not disappoint. We went in there an wow, EXPENSIVE!!! We only had lunch, and they way they sell you everything, right down to charging for lettuce and tomato on a burger. The burger was already $16.99 then adding $3.00 for the lettuce n tomato made it $19.99, then, they charged for the fries. My girlfriend had a teriyaki chick sandwich, they gave 1/2 loaf of French bread and the meat barely came up half way, then, the server asked what she wanted for a side, fries, chips, salad, my gf said salad, guess what, we were then charged $7 for a small dish of lettuce with a couple of carrots and one grape tomato. Anyway, there were 4 of us and after nickeling and diming us to death, the bill was $157. YIKES, this is more than we pay to eat at the Texas Roadhouse, so no questions here, we won't go back and pay this kind of money for half way decent bar food when we can have steaks for less. read more

So, the staff was friendly enough, but very disappointed in the food and prices. I ordered a teriyaki chicken sand, and they put it in like a half loaf of French bread, and the meat didn't even fill it halfway. Then the waitress asked what i wanted for my side, and gave me the option of a salad, so opted for that. My friend ordered a hamburger, and when the waitress asked if he wanted lettuce and tomato, he said yes. As for that everyone at the table was asked what they wanted for their sides, and she listed the options. Everyone picked something out. When we got our bill, we found out that all of the sides were charged extra, even a $3 charge for lettuce and tomato, and $7 for the side salad. We spent $157 dollars on lunch, when we could have gone to Texas Roadhouse and had steaks for this much money.
