Installation just finished on a four-unit Quilt mini-split system. Very new product and I'm excited about the aesthetics, usability and efficiency. My experience with Bellows has been an interesting one. TLDR; highly recommended and check out the Quilt system! - - - I had originally scheduled an estimator to come out an give a price on replacing a whole house gas furnace with a heat pump system but was also considering a multi-head mini-split system. The technician who came out was knowledgable and introduced me to the Quilt system. He was not pushy at all, simply said that it was a new system that showed a lot of promise. After reading a bit more about it, I was sold! The promise of efficiency was intriguing and the usability and aesthetics sealed the deal. It took about a month to really get things going, but once they started, the installation team was great! Very professional, efficient and tidy. On the third day of installation, I had inquired about the condenser unit location. It was placed in a prominent and highly visible location at the front of the house and I thought there was a good alternate location - moving it back about 5' and rotating it 90 degrees. I definitely missed the window of time when this should have been asked, and to move it would require some additional work. The initial response was not empathetic or customer satisfaction- minded, the quote for the change order was prohibitively high and I ended the phone call feeling very frustrated. Within minutes, one of the owners, was on the phone. Chelsea put on a MASTERCLASS in conflict resolution. She made a personal connection, approached the situation with humility and grace, quickly establishing empathy in both directions. Chelsea found a delicate balance between defending her business and wanting to help find a solution by sharing more detailed information about the systems and installation process, and asking questions about why I wanted to change the location. Like most customer-service facing professionals, she articulated that she wanted me to be happy with the product and service and that the company would make it right. But unlike the majority of those people, it did not come across as condescending - she was genuine, willing to explore options, and ultimately took the time to gather more information and see what options were actually available. The installation manager, Del, came out the next morning, worked with the installers to find an efficient solution to move the unit, and the system was completed within the original schedule. The two-man installation team ended up working a little later, and even on a Friday afternoon before a long weekend, showed professionalism and patience in testing the system, cleaning up, and making sure all of my questions were answered before calling the job complete. Ultimately, I am very satisfied with my Bellow's experience and would recommend. I am very impressed with Chelsea and her handling of the situation. The Bellows service staff are competent and courteous. The office staff are also polite and courteous. The 1-Star Review reflects my assessment of an unbending schedule of fees charged by Bellows for its services. 1) The Fixed Schedule of Fees for Services is extremely expensive. How expensive?? Well, a few years ago, Bellows came out to our home to install a replacement part in the wall plate of a Toto wall-hung toilet. We provided the plumber with the correct replacement part. The actual repair required perhaps 10--15 minutes. The fee: $547 (including a service call fee of $149 plus $398 for the repair). In 2026, it surely costs more. The current service call fee is $189. At the time, Bellows HVAC was installing a ductless mini-split unit in our home, so I off-handedly requested this plumbing repair without determining the costs upfront. And indeed, I am responsible for my ignorance about plumbing charges; I should have known this minor toilet repair could cost as much as $547. That's on me. After much haggling, the fee was reduced to $400 - presumably because of the coexisting, and far more expensive HVAC installation. Still, wouldn't you have thought that a plumbing company might feel discomforted to ask for $547 for a trivial toilet repair? I learned a hard lesson about fees for plumbing services. 2) We once had an annual maintenance contract with Bellows for a reasonable fee of $300. Then Bellows informed us that only one of our three ductless A/C units was covered by the contract. Mind you, the units were actually installed by Bellows (cost: $15,500), with an average annual use of about 7 days. Did not matter. The new contract cost was $418. We should have read the small print on the contract. We paid the annual fee as there appeared to be no other option. However, I informed Bellows that I regarded the new fees as both excessive and unreasonable - and a genuine discourtesy to a long-time customer. Despite the complaint, Bellows somehow concluded that, given our previous use of their maintenance services, we had signed on for an annual subscription. And a few weeks ago, I discovered that Bellows had previously charged my credit card - unbeknownst to me - for a (now) more costly fee of $516 for a recurring maintenance contract. In effect, Bellows charged my credit card without any notification in advance or afterward. (This practice is expressly forbidden in California.) After two telephone calls to Bellows and a complaint to the BBB, (over a span of 14 days), the fee was finally removed. Bellows seemingly believes that with a refund of the unjustifiable fees, the company is absolved of any further accountability. In effect, 'We refunded the $516 charge, what more do you want?' Well, as always, Caveat Emptor! Get price quotes in advance, and be vigilant about recurring subscriptions. Do not expect a company like Bellows to accept responsibility for their contribution to any dispute, or to apologize for any inconvenience and distress experienced by the customer. read more

I should have written this review a year ago but I feel it is important others know to beware about Bellows bids. On June 23rd, 2025 I received a bid from one of their technicians to replace a 75 gallon gas water heater. The technician was really a slick sales agent trying to sell me on converting to either a heat pump or an "on demand" system that would require a lot of changes to the plumbing system. I had to insist that I wanted to "keep it simple" and just replace the gas water heater with a similar gas water heater. I asked that the bid include detail that spelled out material and labor costs. When I got the bid I was surprised that the total cost was $9,847. While the bid had a lot of installation detail (including make and model of the water heater) regarding what they would do, it had no cost break out, but was specifically for installing a gas water heater. I later called their office and requested a cost for the water heater and was told $5,000. Needless to say I got other bids. In the end I purchased the exact same water heater they suggested for $2,787 (delivered). The installation cost from a well known local licensed plumber was only $1,146. So the total cost was only $4,020, which includes an $86 county permit fee. That is almost a $6,000 savings! If the difference was only 2 or 3 thousand dollars difference, I would not be writing this review. Being 71, I feel like they were trying to take advantage of me due to my age. It's the middle of July, the fog is in, it's cold outside and it's time to have our Lennox A/C serviced by Bellows. This is a shout-out to Dan Fisherbaugh and his professional service. I received a phone call from Dan about five minutes before his arrival; a text as he was pulling down the drive - no guessing when he was going to arrive. Dan had been here before as part of the annual service agreement (which is a great value) we have with Bellows. He set the thermostat to A/C and started cooling the house down for his testing. Checked the actual A/C unit, which is outside, changed and dated the new air filters I had purchased and placed tape with today's date on the heater so I know when to call for next years appointment. Bellows Plumbing: Mini split review In November of 2023, I needed to replace my old gas wall heater. Our home is older and we needed something new. I decided on a Lennox mini split system after seeing a display at Costco. The package included having Bellows Plumbing, a local HVAC contractor install the system. We had this work done in January of 2024. Everything worked quite well until the late fall of 2025. We had had the system for almost two years. When the temperatures fell into the lower 40's, the Lennox system quit heating and would just blow cold air. I called Bellows and they sent out a technician. After explaining my problem one of the first things he said was, "Look how you're dressed." I was in shorts and a T shirt. This was before he even checked the unit (he later denied saying this upon his third visit). I told him my old thermostat registered at 55 degrees and he told me those old things didn't work. I told him again, the unit just blew cold air when the temperature got into the lower 40's. He checked the unit said everything was working correctly and left. When the temperature again got into the lower 40's, the unit still did not work. I called again and the same tech came out and said he couldn't find anything wrong. I suggested maybe I wasn't using the remote correctly and he agreed and left. I made sure I was using the remote correctly and the unit still did not heat our home and blew cold air. I called a third time and Bellows sent the same tech. By this time something else had gone wrong with the unit and it no longer worked at all. He checked it and did not seem to know how to get into it to look. He beat it up a bit taking a panel off. When he was finished, he blamed the problem on a power surge and said I needed to call their electrician. By this time I was done with Bellows Plumbing. I called Lennox and an overseas service representative said I need to call Costco and gave me a number. When I called the number another overseas rep told me if I gave her my bank account number, I had won a $300 gift card. So I had been given a scam number. I found the correct number and the Lennox/Costco rep talked in circles and took no interest in the scam number. So, I have a $10,000 Lennox mini split unit in my backyard that I have not bothered to fix as of May 14th, 2026. Why throw good money after bad? read more

It's been 4 years since my Lennox Heating/AC system was installed and I continue to use Bellows for service and maintenance. Ryan is my "go to" guy. He knows the unit well and tweaks it whenever I notice an issue. Got a new thermostat controller on warranty when the original kept losing communication with the remote thermostat. Adjusted heat pump temp and flow rate when I needed a boost in certain areas. System operates well and service is always timely. read more

I needed maintenance on a whole-house fan (installed years ago by a now-defunct company), as well as my air-conditioning system. Was able to make a next-day appointment. Dave arrived well-within the estimated window, and alerted me when he was on his way. He climbed into my attic, took photos of my fan assembly showing a drive belt that was fraying. I asked if he could please stay longer and replace the belt, and he did so, as well as thoroughly inspecting and cleaning the A/C condenser. The fan is much quieter now. I liked Dave's work so much that I signed up for a service contract. Very reasonable rates, too. Highly recommended! read more

Where do I start? From the beginning I knew this was going to be a challenging venture. I was seeking to replace two (2) HVAC systems and one hot water heater with heat pumps and a tankless water heater. I knew it was not going to be cheap. And trying to do my due diligence I research for a lengthy period of time, with several bids offered on the projects. I had many questions for everyone but after about a month I decided to go with Bellows. I have not regretted it one bit. This is exactly the kind of work they do and it shows. They have dedicated teams of well trained and experienced professionals who take the time to properly do their jobs. All of them. I heard one person comment on how he was happy to be working with the "dream team." I don't exactly know what, exactly, he was referring to but for me of note were Pete, the sales representative, full of knowledge and good on the answers. He was followed by Del the overseer with innovative, creative ideas, Sean, whom I referred to as the wizard who best works alone, Jose who was impeccable, clean, polite and precise, Anthony, full of energy and personality, solid at his job and Matt, Ben, Will and Vinnie all whom tackled the hot water heater in such a fast, clean, efficiency manner I hardly had the chance to know them. We worked with Bellow's on 2 separate projects: 1\ install a new mini-split system that serviced 3 rooms with no forced air heating & 2\ replace a whole house forced air gas-furnace with a heat pump system. So...heater stopped working during these cold front days and found out it was installed in 1995! From the very beginning Bellowes (who had come very highly recommended) were super impressive. The first visit was the technician coming to give and estimate to fix the current dinosaur. Since that cost was putting good on bad, opted to have estimates done for a new furnace. Robert came out and was so professional-born to do this job. He provided multiple estimates but first asked questions to learn about what would be the right fit for us...how long were we planning to live in the house etc. Once he was informed he provided six different estimates and walked me through the pros and cons of each one. Felt so good about what was recommended which ended up being the most economical. Robert ensured to put a rush on it knowing we were without heat. It is installation day! Yay. Michael and Kiernan arrived on time and ready to get to work. They made sure the area was clear (especially since the install was next to my car) and went to work. There were all sort of complexities based on the age of our home and there was literally no detail they did not look at finding solutions for to ensure we would get the most out of our furnace. Outcome is a beautiful new furnace...all the vent outlets were checked and repaired where needed and cleaned! They left the space clean and free from any debris and walked me through the work. Its not alway the case that you find a company that has good ethics and also does excellent work. Bellows has proven to be both. Matt was a pleasure to work with- highly skilled, knowledgeable and friendly. He came out and gave an honest assessment of the work we needed to do, 1) installed a p trap in our laundry room (thank god the smelly sewer smell is gone) and 2) installed a pressure reducing valve to address our high water pressure issue. He also noticed when behind our dryer that our gas line had a flimsy top needed a cap while doing the work and helped reduce a noisy toilet. I appreciate the above and beyond service. There was a tiny blip with reception about a future quote cost but the manager, Patrick sorted it out. Would recommend and when we are ready to do the addt'l work, we will use Bellows again. Our 10 year old Kenmore hot water heater started acting up. I first called another plumber that rhymes with Saratoga. I won't name them. They came over and looked at it and said that's pretty old. There's no parts for that. You need a new one. I wasn't buying so I sent them on their way and Bellows came the next day. They also said it might be hard to find parts so we decided just to do a maintenance on it. He did that and it's worked fine ever since. read more

Bellows fixed a problem created by Marin Clean Energy. They went above and beyond for us when our heat went out, and I'm so grateful for that. MCE offered us a new "eco friendly" thermostat with a free installation. Unfortunately, the person who installed the thermostat made a mess of the wires behind it, and it resulted in our thermostat acting very strangely and then in our heat going out completely (right when the cold and rain started). Bellows was sympathetic to our issue, scheduled us as soon as they could, and showed up on time and with a professional attitude. Honestly, the fact that the technician even knew to check behind the thermostat (and offered to help) was a shock and a totally pleasant surprise. Highly recommend! read more

I have had a furnace replaced then added a dehumidifier and an air conditioner to the home all at different times. I was happy with all three teams so I assume their entire staff is competent. I subscribe to their maintenance program which includes heat/A-C and plumbing. The recent techs were competent and friendly. The plumbing technician (from Alabama originally) and Ryan A. were top notch. If you are lucky to have them you will be treated well. I had a great experience today with Bellows and Saul. He arrived promptly and helped with a clogged situation. It wasn't easy to figure out the best place to come at the problem and he was able to efficiently problem solve. He was very knowledgable, friendly, kind and helpful. TBH, I was worried we might have a bigger repair today so I'm relieved. he was able to solve the problem. He went above and beyond too. He took a short video to help explain something that is very difficult to reach. He also helped to make sure that my washing machine was ok (it had standing water backed up that I didn't realize until after he left. Fortunately, he hadn't driven away yet and came back in to help. I had great experience at Bellows in the past but recently it is not so great. Every time I contact them the price for estimating the issue is higher. The most recent price was $189 to just come over and take a look. That is higher than the other companies I've contacted. Given I've had some service done in the past by Bellows I'd prefer to stay with the same company but not when the price to estimate the issue is twice what the others charge. read more

We had the worst experience with Bellows from start to finish! It took them a month to do a job that was supposed to take a week. They were messy, damaged our property, unprofessional, rude, not equipped to do repiping, and added things to the bill at the end which was included in the contract. One example is an additional $450 for a permit which was already included in the contract($11,0000) when we signed it. I have included pictures as they speak louder than any words. My husband is in construction and is very aware of how these things should be handled. The details are below: We had Bellows come to our house to replace the old galvanized water lines in our house including the main service from the meter at the street with new copper piping. It was an unfortunate and frustrating process from start to finish. We had a pre job walk through with the technician and called 811 that same day to get the underground survey done before the trenching for the new water service. We were told that once the 811 survey was complete it would take 2-3 days to get scheduled and start the job. With this in mind we sent a deposit and was told that now the job could not start for another 12 days. Once the job started we were told that it would take a week to complete. Not only did it take 4 times that long, there were numerous issues that came up during the work. Scheduling issues, and timeline for construction under estimated by a great deal. Sloppy work, scrap pipe left in trench. Worker lunch trash left in the yard. Dirty fingerprints on walls inside and outside of the house. Workers were leaving for the day on a Friday and as I was looking over what was done, I noticed that the angle stop valve at the toilet was leaking and no hot water coming out of the shower. Luckily I ran out of the house and stopped them from leaving or I would have had a leaky valve at my toilet and no hot water in the shower. We have a small house and only have one toilet and shower so we would have been without hot water in shower and a leak all weekend. Then I looked in the crawl space and noticed scrap pipe laying around and no insulation on the hot water lines that were supposed to be there. The blocking behind the bathroom sink was not fastened on both sides so the pipe was able to be pulled out of the wall several inches. I fixed this myself. They were unable to properly strap the risers at the Kitchen sink, so if the faucet was pulled on it would come away from the wall. This is another item that I had to take care of myself. I understand they are plumbers, not carpenters but simply properly strapping the pipes should be something that they could take care of. We have old tiles as the backsplash in the Kitchen that we were very concerned about being broken because we would have been unable to find matching tiles if they were damaged. After trying I was told that they could not remove the old pipes without breaking out the tile to do so. I stopped them from doing that and had to get the pipe out myself. When installing the new faucet at the Kitchen sink they used nipples that were too long causing the faucet to not be able to go flush against the wall. The pipes at the bathroom sink and toilet were too long causing the angle stops to be off the wall by about two inches, not flush as they should have been. Plastic liner over the copper main was nicked and damaged, so I had to use tape to repair to avoid the new copper from being exposed to the ground. When it was time to pay the remaining balance of the bill they added an additional $450 on the bill never telling us this but tried to slip it by us. When I looked into it further it was for permitting but in the initial contract it said all permits were included. The job itself cost over 11 grand and they tried to slip an extra $450 into the bill without us realizing it. So shady! This was definitely a very frustrating experience for us.
