I love the other red olives! Eat at them about once a week because they are convenient around my work. I avoided this one for the longest because back when I did doordash, there were multiple warnings to check the bags because they would forget things. Lo and behold the one and only time I ever order from here they forget things. And that happens. Problem is when I ask "hey is there silverware?" And she says "yes!" Very assuredly, I don't doubt it and believe. That was a mistake. Stuff was missing and no silverware. I should first say that I have eaten at this Red Olive many times and the food and service are always the best. Something to take note of if you're gluten free, they have gluten free toast, pancakes, and pita. The gluten free pancakes are delicious! So, on this visit we were getting there right after lunch so it wasn't too busy. Our waitress Tanya was extremely friendly and came back repeatedly to check on us. My Mom got a bowl of the chicken noodle soup with a bread basket and I ordered a chicken fajita wrap with sour cream and salsa on the side. To be quite honest, the wrap was huge! I could only finish half. It was delicious though and the sour cream and salsa really helped to spice it up a bit. Mom loved her soup. From past visits we know that the lemon rice soup is another brilliant choice. I also would recommend the Red Olive omelette with avocado, spinach, and feta, and then if you are there for dinner, the lamb is very tasty. There are also about 15 salads to choose from if you are in a salad mood. All in all, this place is a favorite and we'll be back soon! read more

After eating here at least four times now I can say the restaurant is consistent, which as a former restaurant owner, I can affirm is critical to overall success. As a Greek-themed family restaurant the owners do a good job of presenting interesting, well-prepared, and reasonably priced dishes within the genre. My only question is why chicken gyros, a dish of spiced ground chicken normally cooked on a vertical rotisserie, is actually a grilled chicken breast? It's not that it wasn't good. If you order carry out, expect at least one item to be missing and to also be missing any plastic ware. Their prices for what you get are a little steep. But the food for the most part is just like any other metro Detroit coney. It just seems like the same person who takes the carry out orders ALWAYS forgets stuff. After visiting a family member she suggested breakfast at the Red Olive, I had never been but agreed to try it. It was early in the morning so there wasn't many people in there. It was a clean and pleasant place inside. The waitress was very nice and reminded me of being down south, everyone was hun. The service needless to say was very good.. we both ordered the Red Olive Omelette with extra spinach which they were happy to oblige. The omlette was very tasty... good amounts of spinach and avacado in the omelette which i was happy to see... most would skimp on the avocado. The first seller for me on this place was the coffee.. there aren't too many restaurant coffee's Ive tried and then had several cups because it was just that good... this is one :). I too don't understand the low reviews. Service is Coney island style so not mind blowing, but my wife and I have eaten breakfast and dinner here and we keep coming back. We also get takeout from here at least once a week. Chicken over rice is good, their gyros are great, soups are excellent, my wife loves their chicken noodle. Reasonably priced and food is good. Probably the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant. I ordered marinated chicken pasta. Immediately after the waitress set down my food, I see 2 bugs crawling around my pasta. Disgusting! We ask for the manager to come to our table and show him the bugs. He says that there's no way this could have come from his kitchen, implying that we placed the bugs in the food ourselves. He did not apologize or take responsibility or comp the meal for this issue. He did bring me a plate that was remade, but incorrectly without basil and tomatoes as stated in the menu... Our waitress was unprofessional and started bad-mouthing other local restaurants to us when she found out we had bugs in our food. So disappointed. I've been to many other locations and loved it. The food at this location was AWFUL. There was hair is 3 out of 5 of our meals. I sat for most of the meal with my water empty, and the kids food sat in the window so long it was cold and you could tell just by looking at it that it had been sitting out. Compared to other Red Olive restaurants, this is quite below par. Server was good and attentive, but the kitchen was slow during a time the restaurant was about 50% occupied. Decided to check out this place today for lunch. For starters, this is located in the worst built plaza ever. The parking lot is horrible and if this plaza ever gets busy, it's going to be a mess for all tenants and customers. I ordered a coffee, gyro, and french fries. Waitress Teri was great, very attentive and friendly. The place looked very clean. My Gyro was good, but for $6.25 I expected a little bit more meat. I also didn't like the regular toothpicks that were in the sandwich. The owner should stop being cheap and get the Club Frills toothpicks, they are longer and safer to use. My fries were hot, but not worth the price. For $2.45 you should get better than $14/box fries from restaurant depot. A few odd things that I saw: I saw a guy wondering aimlessly around the restaurant with his baseball cap on backwards. I thought maybe he was lost, turns out, it was the busboy. For Gods sake put on a shirt so people know who you are and that you work there. Reading some of the reviews I saw people complaining about hair in their food, as I looked in the kitchen I noticed that NO COOKS had a hat, or hairnet on, let alone gloves. This is horrible. Management/owners know better than this. I also noticed some guy with a huge necklace around his neck sitting on top of his shirt he finally put on his Mets baseball cap. Servers looked great, all had their hair pulled back, clean shirts, all smiles. Would I eat here again? There's a slight chance I would is about 20%. Average place. Food is usually decent but a few things they need to improve on. Flaming cheese is like water! Not thick like most places which means the cheese is not real cheese. Waitress staff needs to improve and be more friendly. Owner is NOT friendly at all. He needs to be more welcoming to his customers. I feel like we are a burden going in there instead of being welcomed. Waitresses definitely need to be more friendly. They must be getting trained by the owner who is not friendly at all. Decent Gryo for the price, I really enjoy a good Gryo, so if you're looking for one , I suggest this place, the Gryo is way better than any coney island in the area. The only downside is that the staff is a bunch of high school girls who really don't know how to waitress. The host took us to the table and threw our menus on the table and walked away without saying a word. She looked like one of those girls who has been spoiled most of her life , and now is resentful that she is a host, she was tall and had blonde hair, total prom queen look. read more

PLEASE save yourself if you have any food allergies/intolerances. The waitress and I carefully decided on a menu item that could be simply adapted to meet my food restrictions (how hard can a salad be?!). She said she informed the cooking staff about the allergies. My salad came (15 minutes after everyone else's at the table... They were nearly done eating.) And I noticed specks on the cucumbers. Thinking that they might be breadcrumbs, I waited another 5 minutes to get our waitress -- before eating -- to make sure there was no cross contamination. She assured me that the specks weren't gluten. I started eating my salad as by now I was famished! She came back about 5 minutes later saying, "Sorry but those specs were from pita bread. The staff used the same knife and cutting board from cutting pitas to cut your cucumbers." All the manager/owner(?) said was, "We'll try better next time." There will no next time. I had the country omelet. Good portion size but the Swiss cheese was a processed cheese. Eggs were on the dry side. My friend asked for cheddar cheese in his omelet and received American cheese. I've been going to red olive for years at the Plymouth locations. (The banquet center is wonderful). I was so excited to see this location where we live now. Red Olive is nothing more than a Coney Island/diner style restaurant. Simple good food. We love coming here for breakfast/lunch. Mystified by all the lukewarm ratings. We discovered Red Olive a couple months ago and it's our new favorite place. Mango chicken salad, chicken wrap, veggie stir fry...all these items are excellent, and the decor is so much nicer than the average coney place. We've had fast and friendly service the half-dozen times we've been here. YMMV, of course, but I continue to go out of my way for Red Olive. read more

This place has a huge menu. Almost too big for a Coney Island style restaurant. But the things we have tried there have all been very well done, and the price is more than reasonable. By far our favorite foods their are the breakfast foods and they are spot on every time. Even when they are busy the service is good and the food is quick. ordered a salad and started eating and after a few bites I noticed something sticking out of a rolled up piece of lettuce. unrolled the lettuce to find a nasty big bug in it. I couldn't finish my salad and either did the rest of the family that ordered lettuce as well. when the manager came over finally he asked if there was anything else on the menu that I wanted and I said I would never touch this food ever again! the manager not once said he was sorry just that it was lettuce and that It comes from the ground and that there really isn't anything he could do. I love this Red Olive Location. Staff is great and food is always fresh. Their salads are always crispy-fresh and huge. They have several gluten free selections which I appreciate since my daughter and grandkids have celiac disease. One time they screwed up a carry out order, and we called and the Mgr took our name. I have discovered a new favorite that is fairly close to home. The Red Olive in Wixom was recommended by a friend so we thought to stop in last week and give it a try. It was amazing and we did come back and try it a second time with the same results. The Greek food is very good. I have tried their gyros as well as the Greek salad, avgolemono (lemon rice) and split pea soup. The menu is diverse and the food quality is consistent. They have some gluten-free alternatives too. Most notably the service was excellent both times we ate there. I would have to agree on the parking/entry to this plaza being bad-it's tough to find the restaurant and the plaza parking needs to be designed in a more logical manner however my rating is strictly on the restaurant food and service. If there were restaurant problems before I noticed absolutely none now. I will definately be returning and if the restaurant operations remain the same or improve I will adjust my rating higher. read more

The weather turned cold and one of our favorite restaurants was even colder. We asked the cashier to please tell management to turn up the heat. She said she has complained to management to fix the heat but they haven't done anything. It's so cold in the morning she said regular customers have stopped coming. My suggestion is to put a heater blower in the area between the outer and inner doors. read more
