So many breakfast places to chose from and we go to the Red Olive in Northville frequently however I was a bit disappointed today when they want to up charge me for sour dough toast. I thought that was really cheap considering I was spending $34.30 for two breakfast's with tip. The service is always good and the breakfast are decent not great but decent so we go there after we exercise on Sunday mornings at Lifetime Fitness. Ordered on DoorDash to start my work day and The omelette came with chili on top. It didn't taste bad but something is not it. I think it's not salty enough. And with the next item I got : "the best Greek salad" - it certainly was NOT the best Greek salad . Where are the onions ? Bit into a chickpea and it tastes bad . Went here on Sunday with my aunt and mother. My mom has been extremely ill with food poisoning, symptoms started a few hours after eating an omelet, toast, hash browns, and coffee. I called the restaurant yesterday to let them know and the person who answered the phone didn't know what protocol was and took my number to have the manager call me back. The Wayne County health department has been notified. Should've known that maybe safe food handling wasn't happening the second I saw the "help wanted" sign in the window. read more

Before you dismiss this review - I have attempted to contact the restaurant directly multiple times. I have gotten zero response. As I promised them if they chose not to respond in any fashion, I would have no choice but to leave a review. I would leave a zero star review if possible. We took my mother-in-law here last week. We've been there many times and had a perfectly decent meal in the past. Not last week. It was not busy. I ordered the Greek Platter. Was served two absolutely disgusting scoops of Pastitsio and Moussaka. Completely unrecognizable. Burnt and attempted to hide it under the red sauce normally served on the rice and green beans. It never should have been served to a guest. The Gyro meat was also burnt. Like it could not be cut even with a knife. Another from out group ordered chili and somehow they were out of oyster crackers. And a chicken Greek salad. Which did not have chicken on it. When we asked, we were told that he did not order chicken. Which he did, as I was sitting next to him. Regardless, the appropriate response would have been "I'm so sorry, let me get you chicken". Not argue with the guest. My salad came out AFTER my dinner was brought out. Not with the chili and crepe that my tablemates got before their meals were brought out. We asked multiple times and i eventually just got up and got our own napkins, and water was never refilled no matter how many times we asked. The manager on duty was not particularly helpful and eventually took a pittance off the bill but it was too little, too late. Maybe it was an off night, but the lack of response from management is not acceptable from a service establishment. Between the service and the food I cannot recommend this location. read more

The perfect place for an authentic Greek salad. Clean and friendly establishment with a good sized menu. I was tempted to get a big breakfast but came in for their Best Greek Salad and stuck to my guns. Plenty of real food with the lettuce - feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, chick peas, and tasty olives. (Ask for extra olives) I added the gyro meat and had to sample several pieces dipped in the dressing before diving into the salad. read more

But to be honest when your guests can tell nothing really Gets cleaned very good, grime on tables,Silverware, glassware, plates & Dust everywhere ( thick as HELL in ladies restroom) & we picked up our Silverware both of ours looked as if it was caked on Grime server brought me a new set & ignored the other dirty set ( he was waiting to eat his salad) I mean very grimey Silverware and still grimey from wrapped Silverware at a nearby table couldn't find a clean one after unwrapping 3 or 4 Our server finally noticed we BOTH needed new Silverware apologized & got us some cleaner Silverware.. Red Olive has been a go-to restaurant for years. So on Labor Day, I made the mistake of going there with my wife. As we stood in the entrance way, waiting to the clearly overwhelmed cashier/hostess to seat a party in front of us, a party of three behind us pushed past us and told the hostess that they would just "seat themselves", and too the only available table. She simply nodded and continued to ignore us. Between this and the crowded, less than comfortably distanced environment that lunchtime, we went elsewhere. Red Olive restaurant in Northville makes horrible food. Ordered for the whole office. Missing several parts of the order, hair literally cooked on to the French fries, and a big ol' scoop of tomato soaked green beans on top of everything, including the chicken strips and fries. When I called to get a refund I was offered a $40 gift card unless I was willing to go back and bring everything back. Understanding if We hadn't already thrown it all away. I didn't want to dig it out of the trash. The first guy called and was great and offered a refund, then a second crabby rude man called and said no. We are out $62 plus the cost of ordering from another restaurant to replace our lunch. Shame on them for serving such poor quality and customer service. read more

We visited on Sunday afternoon, August 12th around 1pm. They are always busy on Sundays at this time with the "after church crowd". The service we have gotten there has been hit or miss over time. But this visit we were seated in Amanda's section and she was an excellent server! She was friendly and attentive. She was very patient and understanding with our elderly dining companion who has dementia. I had the Hercules omelet, which is my favorite, and it was delicious as always. They never charge when I ask to substitute one veggie for another which is great; some other places do charge. The coffee is hot, delicious, and the servers often walk around offering refills. We've been here quite a few times- service is always great- I love their soups, sandwiches, salads... but not so much love for their dinners- had the pastisio (sp?) it was dry and flavorless - I had an end piece and it was over cooked and rubbery- difficult to cut through- then tonight, had the fish . Looked crisp, crunchy but when I cut into it there was a lot of water and the fish was mushy- the fish was fried too long and had a gross aftertaste- the shining star was the clam chowder. NEVER EAT HERE, NEVER. I ordered my meal with no onions, it came smothered in onions. I asked them to remake it. They remade half of it and left both plates on my table. Then they tried to charge me for TWO meals and accused me of "stealing food for free". Then they refused to bring me a to-go box so I could just leave. I asked for a to-go box 4 times. They refused. It was a nightmare. It is staffed with a bunch of snotty incompetent teenagers, there are no adults in charge at all. It's like Lord of the Flies. Terrible service, iffy food.
