Burrata and Cavatelli- 10/5!!! So freakin good. I was a little hesitant when ordering the burrata because when I think of burrata, I like it on top of arugula with fresh slices of prosciutto and olive oil drizzled on top of it. But the pesto paste and cherry tomatoes that come with RR's burrata..... DELISH. It's also accommodated with crostini's which was the perfect app. I wanted to sub the cavatelli noodles for spaghetti but the server recommended not too. I'm so glad I took her advice. Never had cavatelli noodles but it was delicious. The lemon white wine reduction complimented the pasta noodles and the sausage had a nice kick to it. Service was great too!! I love coming to red rabbit! I have been here twice and it is always really good! The service was great and our waitress even gave us a free desert which was the beignets with a wine frosting that was super great! We sat on the patio at Red Rabbit in St. Paul which offers a lovely setting complete with a wood-burning fireplace. However, the overhead lighting on the patio is red and the font menu items is red making the menu extermely difficult to read. Change the lighting, and this is a 5 star venue to me. We had 3 people and shared the cheese and charcuterie board. $28 for a selection of 6 cheeses, charcuterie, dried fruits, nuts, jam, and chocolate. We took half of it home, so while $28 may seem steep, we had snacks for days. For dinner, we shared cavatelli and lasgana. Both dishes were good , but the cavatelli would definitely bring me back. It's a perfect blend of ingredients and the house-made sausage has just the right amount of spice. Definitely a comfor food. Service was friendly. Expensive pricing for the portion size of my gnocchi -- which has pumpkin seeds, goat cheese, and a cranberry sort of mixture in it -- at $16-$17. My moM's breakfast pizza was amazing and came at a good portion size for $12. The shrimp pasta that my mom's girlfriend got was tasty. I was able to get put on the wait list through Yelp before arriving to the restaurant, which is awesome. The ratio of time it took to get our food after ordering was good. Honestly, it was a pretty disappointing experience to dine here. We were seated immediately when we arrived which was lucky but it was down hill from there. Our server was slow to approach our table and then had to be asked twice about the bar tender's special. We asked if the salad was GF as my husband has allergies. The server picked up the menu read it for a long time and then declared that it was. There were also long pauses as the waiter lingered at our table to enter in our orders. It felt awkward. Our drinks arrived after our salad. My gnocchi was burned and my husbands gf pizza was just meh. We waited a long time for the check and the method of paying at the table with a computer thrust into my face is not appealing. OVERALL: I love the red rabbit location in north loop, so it's very similar to that as it's the same menu. Just different service quality. SERVICE: starting with service because that's the only reason it's 4/5 stars. We were there for a birthday dinner and we had a party of 12. We were seated promptly for our reservation so that wasn't the problem. The issue was the timing of our food and when our orders actually got placed. We ordered our drinks as everyone arrived and got them fairly quickly, but it took about 20-30 minutes to get an appetizer order in and we waited another 45 to receive them. During this 45 minute waiting period our server didn't come back to take our orders for entrees. It was only when we were completely done with our appetizers did she come back to take our order for entrees. After that we had to wait another 45 minutes for our entrees to arrive. Everyone was visibly hungry and ready to the entrees and several commented that it was taking quite a bit. I understand that it was a Saturday night but it felt like our dinner was drawn out quite a bit and everyone was feeling the pains. I will say that we are very grateful that our server gave one of our party members a new dish after he didn't like steak (will talk about that more later) and comped us some birthday desserts. That was much appreciated. For time reference we arrived at 7pm and left at 9:30. FOOD: I always ask what the gnocci special is because they change it up so often! It's typically a vegetarian option but this time I was delighted to find that it was a lamb gnocci. I jumped on that immediately and was not disappointed. I probably got one of the best meals at the table as everyone was looking at mine. The appetizers were all fairly good nothing really stood out from the pack. We ordered wings, burrata, a couple different breads with different toppings, and cheese bread. The wings did have a good kick to them as well. The avocado toast had crawfish on it too which was a tasty surprise. Another party member ordered the steak and was greatly disappointed. While it was cooked to perfection the flavor was not there and it seemed too charcoaly. Multiple people at the table tried the steak and didn't care for it. He was able to send it back and get the salmon, which was more flavorful. Another party member is vegan, so she ordered the vegan pizza. When it arrived it was literally just crust and tomato sauce. How upsetting! Vegetables are in fact vegan so I'm unsure why they would keep it so plain. After being fully disappointed we ordered the acorn squash dish for her which ended up being better. In conclusion for the food portion, there were some hits and misses at our table. PRICE: Appetizers ranged from $10-$15, pizzas $11-16, pastas $12-18, entrees $18+. For dinner I ordered a mushroom pizza. The kid ordered Alfredo with no meat, and hubby ordered the Chicken Parmesan. I loved my pizza. It was cooked to perfection. The cheese had a great flavor and the mushrooms were fresh and juicy. Hubby enjoyed his Chicken Parmesan. He got it with the side of spaghetti. He assumed the spaghetti came with it since the server asked what side he wanted, but surprise it was an extra $5. He wasn't bothered because for $22 he got enough food for two meals. Unfortunately the kiddo didn't like her meal. I decided to try the Alfredo to see what was wrong with it. It wasn't nasty. The sauce had a great flavor. It was just boring. It reminded me of a toddler's kids meal. It was simply sauce and noodles. There was no seasoning and no veggies for color. I decided to keep it and doctor it up at home. We let her order a cheese pizza to go. Wrong choice! Her pizza was over cooked, had no red sauce and the cheese used wasn't good. At this point we gave up on getting her something else. Overall the restaurant had good food and good service. I would probably go back, but my family wouldn't join me. I doctored the Alfredo up the next day by adding shrimp, broccoli and some seasoning. Red Rabbit was a recommendation by a local friend and it did not disappoint. We had a high quality meal at a reasonable price point. The place was packed on a recent Friday night. They don't take reservations, but when I called was advised to join the wait list on Yelp, which was a new concept for me. The wait on the app was still about 70 minutes and this isn't a reservation, but you can see your place in line so you have a general idea of when you might be seated. We arrived at the assigned time, checked in, and still ended up waiting about another 20 minutes, which was fine, the restaurant was located in a cute neighborhood with some nice shops to check out. Another helpful aspect of Red Rabbit is a private parking lot. On the food and drink front, everyone was happy. I opted for the gnocchi which is served up with seasonal ingredients. This go around it was butternut squash in a brown butter sauce, brussel sprouts and I opted to add some Italian sausage. The gnocchi was probably the best I have ever had, it really did melt in your mouth. There were lots of local beer options and the service was very helpful and attentive. Definitely join the Yelp wait list if you are planning to dine here, but otherwise worth the wait. read more

Filled with happy people but the acoustics are perfect you can hear a conversation. Had the Pimm's cup drink-it was delish and refreshing. Dillon -our waiter-was knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations. Enjoyed the gnocchi and a plate of one of the specials of the day-mushroom gnudi. Went to Red Rabbit on a Saturday night with a group of 5 and requested to sit on the patio. The atmosphere was lively but not crazy, a good place to go with your family. Our group started off with the honey, ricotta bruschetta which was good but nothing amazing. The table of 5 of us also split the mixed greens salad which was quite large and surprisingly delicious. We asked our server, Jessica, for her thoughts on the menu and she spent her time answering all our questions and described each plate with great detail, which we much appreciated. I got the stuffed acorn squash which was delightful. The quinoa inside had great flavor and was matched perfectly with the sweet taste of the acorn squash. One of my dinner mates got the bolognese and it was very tasty. Another one of my dinner mates got the chicken Parmesan, and he described it as "Fantastic". On the side of the chicken Parmesan he got the gnocchi which our server recommended however it was too much flavor and it tried too hard. I went to Red Rabbit for a girl's night dinner. What a fun, hip, delicious restaurant that manages to serve high-quality Italian food without the snooty ambiance sometimes found in haunts with similar menus. We didn't get drinks that evening, but the tap beer menu seemed lengthy and local, and there were some tantalizing cocktails listed as well. I had a hard time deciding on food, which really just means I'll have to go back again soon. I ended up getting the classic pizza which has sausage, veggies and pepperoni. The breakfast pizza was second on my list. For those eating GF by necessity or choice - appeared to be several good options. I don't know about how well the kitchen keeps things non-contaminated. Pro tips - get your name on the menu ahead of time and carpool if possible if you're going on the weekend. Parking is pretty limited. read more

This place is fantastic! Where to begin? I had always wanted to go to the North Loop's Red Rabbit, but never had the opportunity. So when this brand new location opened a few weeks ago and it was much closer for me, I knew I had to go quickly! I am so glad we went later in the evening because I heard from another co-worker about 2 hour wait times and no option to make reservations. Knowing that it was the sister restaurant to Red Cow, I had to try it. And who doesn't love Italian food?? It's directly across from Punch Pizza on Grand Ave, and it used to be the Wild Onion. Small parking lot but we managed to find a spot! My friend and I came in around 8:30pm on a bad Tuesday that we were trying to make better. One Old-Fashioned and a Sundress at Midnight later, we certainly accomplished our goal! On to the food....She got the Chicken Parmesan (huge and cheesy) and side of Chickpea Fries which I enjoyed more than she did. I got the Cavatelli with Italian sausage and a Spicy Salami Pizza. Out-of-this-world good. I took half the pizza home to my dear husband, and half the pasta as well. Portions are decent sized. We were full but we always order dessert. We went with the Sticky Toffee Cake and it was delicious! I would order that again. The interior is absolutely gorgeous! Beautiful lighting and decorative lamps, flooring was superb. The booths in the middle of the restaurant remind me of Red Cow's booths. I was finding so many similarities between both restaurants, but then I needed to stop and just enjoy and appreciate each one for their own individualistic features!
