Please was clean and decently stocked. A lot of the warm items were out and extremely limited. Maybe it was too late? The chicken empanada were not good. I ate one in the car in the dark as we set back on course to Vegas. The texture was unique to say the least. Stringy and a little chewy. The taste was different. A little sweet and little savory. Not my cup of tea. The sweet pastries were good but didn't taste fresh. The sole young lady working was very nice and knowledgeable. I may not be returning here any time soon but I am glad I got to try this place.

Love how there's a Red Ribbon in Bakersfield! I've known this awhile and have gone a few times since it was established but can't believe I never left a review. It feels really good to have a taste of home here in Bakersfield :) They've got the variety of pastries I loved when I was a kid: Taisan Loaf, Mamon, Enseymada, etc. All taste so good but of courae, I could be just a little bit biased.

Tell me you're Filipino without telling me you're Filipino. As a Filipino child, you either grew up with Goldilocks or Red Ribbon. So for every birthday party you had growing up, trust you had some tasty birthday cake from either bakery. So glad to hear a few years ago when Red Ribbon opened up in Bakersfield. Now, you can enjoy your ube sponge cakes or ensaymada to your heart's content without having to drive to LA. Bought a chocolate cake here for Christmas. Most recently,I bought a mango roll cake. The cake is filled with mango cream and rolled. The cake itself is not too sweet which is a great change from the other cakes you can buy from stores in town which are overly sweet and dry. They also have other merienda "snack" items like Filipino empanada, palabok and halo-halo.

These empanadas are definitely the best in town, and they also offer a delicious halo-halo, a popular Filipino drink that everyone should try! The flavors are fantastic, and the service is excellent. I'm also impressed by how clean the place is, especially given how long they've been around.

I love that their cake isn't as sweet as typical "American" cakes. Their cake is moist and the cream used is whipped cream rather than butter cream so the fluffy/smoothness makes the cake light and airy. Their sponge cakes are also very yummy and i love that they are individually wrapped. They staff here are friendly and the store is always clean. Their empanada and ube drinks are yummy too!

When I heard Bakersfield was getting a Red Ribbon Bake Shop I was super excited. Every time I craved any of their baked goods we would have to travel out of town. Occasionally I would find some of their products at Asia Market, but then they stopped a few years back so it wasnt as accessible. As many times as I've visited a Red Ribbon Bake Shop, it was my first time trying their chicken empanada and the halo-halo. I didn't think the empanada was gonna be that good, but I was wrong. It's a little pricey but it's really good. The halo-halo was really good and I would definitely get it again. For my mom's 77th birthday in September I got her a sansrival cake and she absolutely loved it. Highly recommended if you like cashews and wafers. All the breads are good and I don't have a favorite. I'm yet to try the pancit palabok and arroz caldo. The location is good. It's not in a super busy area and parking is not an issue at all. The staff has been super nice every single time we have come to visit. There was an issue w ordering my mom's birthday cake online and the manager fixed the issue right away. The money was reversed the next day and it was on a weekend.

New bakery with Philippino desserts. The sweetness level is closer to Korean/Japanese desserts. The store has prepackaged breads and other sweets. The dessert case has full-size cakes to choose from. There were 4 single desserts. Don't pass up the empanadas.

Cheesy mamon sponge cake (6 pack) $11.34 Light, fluffy sponge cake w cheese on top. Sweet n savory taste.

Service: Great. I was greeted immediately upon arrival. The staff was busy sweeping the floor. The cashier was extra friendly and nice. Staff wore masks during this covid time. The store was clean. I went to the bakery around noon on a Wed. There wasn't any customers so not busy at all.. I bought 6 cheese Mamon sponge cakes (6 pack) and it was almost $12. The cheese mammon sponge cakes were nice and fluffy. I like Goldilock's mamon better. I also bought chicken($2.79) and pork empanada($2.59). The empanada pastry were not greesy and wasn't flaky. The chicken empanada had minced chicken meat w some mashed up potatoes and a couple of raisins. The pork empanada had a couple pieces of diced carrots and some fatty pieces. Both were not too bad tasting but I have had better tasting empanada. Tip: sometimes they may have some baked goods on sale depending on what they need to get rid of for the day. Today they had 2 packs of 6 Ube mammon cakes for 20% off because these expire the next day.

In the Philippines, birthdays mean Red Ribbon cakes so I'm glad we have one in the neighborhood. I haven't had any bad experience with any cakes and I just love how everything tastes like home. My favorite will always be the ube overload cake. Chiffon cake is light and fluffy with that rich and creamy ube goodness in every bite! They also sell by-the-slice for a quick craving fix!

Inside has a gray, modern aesthetic and some seating from bar stools to tables with chairs + booth. I think the ambiance is good to stay and chat with friends for awhile. Lots of options on the menu, the cashier was nice, customer service 4/5. Ordered Matcha Oreo Slush ($7.95), 2.5/5. It was sweet from the crushed oreos and chocolate drizzle on the side. Besides that, the slush itself didn't have too much of a taste, either too icy or milky. Costs $1 for water+ice cup. Ordered 3 piece Boong O Pang ($9.95 + $2 flavors), 2/5 . They were slightly crispy on the edges but mostly soft. I ordered the Oreo Nutella (+$1) which was my favorite though it didn't have too much Nutella filling. Next was regular custard which it appears they used a type of custard that's very sweet and more of a jello consistency. Last was Strawberry Custard (+$1), unfortunately it appears they used chunks of strawberries that either were out too long or stewed in something as the strawberries were very sour and soggy and tasted a bit fermented. It was these strawberry bits with the regular custard but the strawberries threw me off so I ended up not finishing. The underwhelming flavors on the inside and the lack of crisp on the outside made these soggy desserts that I would not order again.

I went twice to this location two days in a row because I enjoyed it so much. First with a friend and then I had to introduce it to my kids. The coffees and teas are delish and unique, as well as the smoothies and juices (I didn't try those but my kids loved them). We tried a variety of baked goods, the honeycomb bread is sooooo dang good! Filled with little pockets of cream cheese, drizzled with honey, and topped with toasted regular and black sesame seeds (I forgot to take a pic of this one, but I'll add it next time I go). We enjoyed all of the pastries we tried- not a crumb on our plates by the time we were finished! The decor is beautiful and unique. All of the employees super nice and helpful. You can ask them for descriptions or ask for a menu to see details and ingredients. They're open late too, so I think my next visit will be a GNO or a date with my hubby.

The cafe is located in a plaza with ample parking spots, and the employees I interacted with were polite and efficient. There was a good amount of indoor seating, and I could see this cafe being a fine spot to linger in for a while.

Suga Shack is small, it's a little dive thru area and but it's easy to find and navigate through. They take your order at one window and get it to you on the other side. It was staffed by one person last night but she was very friendly. I had a bubble waffle with strawberries, banana and hot fudge. My wife had the half baked cookie. It came out pretty quick, and everything looked good. It was $20 for the 2 desserts so it's not the cheapest option. Overall everything tasted pretty good, the strawberries were very fresh, good amount of banana as well. As mentioned by another review the waffle is cooked fresh so the ice cream does melt on it quickly it's not something that travels well. My wife liked hers as well, she said the cookie was a little meh but the ice cream and toppings were good. It was a good experience, I don't think we'll rush back but if we're looking for dessert in the future and want something unique we may drop back by.
