I had heard about this place from a co-worker and decided to give it a try. I'm very glad we did. The owner came and chatted with us for a while and was super nice. The drinks were fairly priced. The only food they had was pizza and it was delicious. More importantly, there were many TVs that were showing all the football games. Great place to grab drinks with friends. Loved this place! We "Yelped" sport bars in our neighborhood and this place popped up. Clean with fun crowd. The food was great!

The Red River Ice House might just become my new hangout!!! The staff is over the top friendly and attentive. There is no drama!! It's just a nice place to sit and visit with friends. The inside is cool and clean!! There are big screen televisions to watch sports. And, apparently during football season they bring a big screen TV on the patio, too!! While there are several things that make this ice house unique, I think my favorite concept is the giant bar-b-que pit. As I understand it, from Kelly, the owner, you can bring your own stuff to cook on the pit. If they are cooking already they will cook it for you...or you can bring your own charcoal and meat and cook your own. (BYOM) And, last but not least, I have to make mention of the bathrooms. When the bar initially opened and people would talk about Red River, everyone would mention the bathrooms. I have to say the bathrooms are squeaky clean! Plus, they provide a cup holder in the stalls so you don't have to leave your drink unattended. The only thing that I see as a drawback is the location. It's more difficult to get to if you are coming from the Willowbend neighborhood side. However, if you take 610 to Main it's much easier to get to the Red River Ice House!! Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a relaxed atmosphere and a fun ice house experience. read more

The Red River Ice House is Awesome.. I walked here from the South Main RV Park..I wanted to go to a local bar that I felt safe in, well as I walked up the owner was outside on grill and offered me and Oscar a hamburger. The music outside and the pool table inside next to the bar set is amazing. Great place to unwind after a hard days work......I will be back !! read more

My rodeo committee went here last week after our meeting. I really liked the place, and I had never been here before. I had no problem with parking, although my boots did get a little muddy. The bathroom was immaculate. Seriously so clean, which is so refreshing when out at a bar. It was a Wednesday night, so outside of our rodeo committee there want a huge crowd. So, my wife and I got in to town last night, and were looking for a drink. We'd been driving all day, and after looking at Yelp, we drove the couple of blocks from our hotel to this place. The wife got a little drunk (she's 4' 9', doesn't take her much) and we paid (nice tip) and left. Now, she was drunk, no doubt, and stupid, but she was only abusive toward me. Not even in a loud way. There were maybe 3 other patrons in the joint. Just now, (about half an hour ago) we went back to have a drink before the state of the union address, and were told we couldn't come back in unless we called the owner to get permission. It's a bar, and people get drunk. I've been drunk, and 86'd a time or two, but unless there's a fight, or something really egregious, it's "Hey, it's a bar", welcome back. Not here. We're told that we have to call the owner to explain ourselves and ask to be allowed to spend our money here. No fucking thanks. We'll go elsewhere, you bunch of rednecks. read more

I have lived in the neighborhood for years and never stopped by this place because it looked too seedy. Since the new owner, Kelly, has revamped the place, we might become regulars here. Inside is nice with multiple screens if you want to watch a game. The bathrooms are super nice for a bar. Lots of seating outside and still room for a group playing cornhole/bags. Kelly seems to be an involved owner and seeks feedback from his customers on how to improve the experience his customers have at Red River Ice House. read more

Unique bar where everybody wants to know your name and cares if you come back, that includes the steady clients and staff, neighborhood feel, meet your neighbors at this fun little watering hole, it's not going anywhere, cool bands live! my favorite local hangout. Full bar and pizza. read more

Let's see...this place was a trashy place for very long time; I always avoided, not anymore. I work in Downtown; Midtown and Rice Village are places I usually hang around after work, on the way home, and I never considered this place as an option because it was really trashy. This place looks much better now; it is cleaner, patrons do not look at you as if they will rob you on the way out, and in general, you feel more secure and comfortable. This place, the facilities, would not look out of place at the Village or anywhere in the loop, but it is not in a popular area; the customer profile may, and probably will, change in time and this place would look less like a small Texas town bar. At this time, they need more types of beer, preferably more craft beers, and more customers, which will happen in time. read more

We went here last night while in Houston for a football game and enjoyed ourselves. It has a relaxing rustic atmosphere and everyone of the staff I had interaction with was friendly. The owner bought chips and salsa to each table and went out of his way to make sure customers were taken care of and happy. I will definitely return if ever back in town. read more

My friends and I love this place! All the bartenders are really welcoming and they remember our names. One bartender even helped me pull a hilarious prank on one of my friends with a remote-controlled toy rat! The atmosphere is laid back and fun. The restrooms are also really clean which is a BIG plus! We've had a lot of great nights there. This is a perfect place for an after-work drink. read more

Wow, I don't even understand what happened tonight. I parked in a practically empty parking lot. As I sat there on the patio drinking my beer I was told where I was parked caused someone else to block in another car that was parked next to mine because I didn't pull far enough into the space. They told me to pull my car further into the same spot . The lot was empty mind you, and the few cars that were there were parked haphazardly, there were only 10 people in the place including staff. It's probably not because I was the only Black guy there, perhaps it's because they didn't like my black car. In all fairness the customers were quite friendly so I'll give this place a 2. The reason I stopped there was because I read all the glowing reviews, oh well, some places are not for everyone. read more

This is a fantastic bar now. It use to be NASTY place, but this guy Kelly the owner gutted it. This is the same dude that use own the Firehouse Saloon. When the major partners sold the Firehouse, and it went south, he opened this bar. I will give it 5 stars, but I would like to see live music here more often. read more
