The two stars is strictly because of the bar service on Friday night. Two bartenders, one male and one female, the female bartender was great. She was prompt, friendly and personable. The male bartender, Josh, was ridiculous. He was loud, obnoxious and full of himself. His style of service did not fit well with this hotel bar and restaurant. He was acting very immature and his interactions with guests were amateurish and immature. This guy is a showboat and really made our visit to the bar uncomfortable. More professional, prompt and crisp service is desired. read more

My mom and I wanted to have an early dinner. We are currently staying at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati Hotel, and happened to see Red Roost Tavern. We both ordered the clubs which didn't taste right. She had a side of tortellini salad. When taking a bite she couldn't even swallow it was so bad! It tasted like a bathroom air freshener. Not to mention it was EXPENSIVE bathroom air freshener. My cohort and I loved our dinner here, last night! The hummus, peppers & olives were all super fresh. They poured me a perfect Guinness. I had the herb roasted chicken, with sauteed mushrooms and spinach, which were perfectly prepared and seasoned. The chicken was so tender, with rosemary infused throughout every juicy bite. My broski had the halibut, and said it was the best piece of fish she's had so far (and we've had a LOT of seafood). All of our drinks were great - very unique, and refreshing. We split orders of the lemon creme brule and salted caramel kettle corn ice cream, both of which were excellent. Our server was very prompt, and friendly, making for a nice dinner out. Our only regret is that we don't have time to try out everything else on the menu - it all looked so good! read more

The food was much much more than I would expect from a hotel restaurant. I had dinner here last night and it was delicious. The chef uses a mix of ingredients that i would never think of but them again I don't cook much. I had the soba noodle salad which included watermelon, mango and jalapeño peppers. The waiter suggest that I add shrimp to it and his suggestion was spot on. My entree consisted of perfectly cooked scallops on top of braised pork belly and a bit of goat cheese. It was yummy! It was the equivalent of a McDonalds salad. I'm staying in the hotel and ordered the Cobb salad to-go. I was surprised there was a $3 "boxing fee" for to-go orders. Never heard of that. Cobb salads are usually big and filling. This was more like a side salad for which I paid $17 (incl $3 "boxing fee"). Very small. There was no smoked turkey, and no hard boiled egg (as advertised). The menu specifically reads, "grilled corn, avocado and Greek yogurt dressing," leading me to believe there would be avocado. Nope. There was a sad, "avocado AND greek yogurt dressing." Finally, but no biggie, the menu said heirloom tomato, but all I got was a few grape tomatoes rolling around. Really lousy for the price. read more

Pleasant dining experience. Went with my dad and my girlfriend. I had the grass-fed burger with fries, she had the feta flatbread and watermelon gazpacho. She liked the tzaziki sauce on the flatbread. My dad had a quinoa salad with grilled salmon. We were all happy with our meals and drinks. Our server was excellent. I really like the ambience of the Red Roost Tavern. It feels very international in flavor and stylishly modern. I think this an undiscovered gem on the downtown Cincy restaurant circuit. I just recently started a new job downtown and my new supervisor took me to lunch here on my first day. After a long debate about whether or not to splurge on my calorie intake and try the Mac'n cheese of the month or go with the much lighter quinoa salad I ended up choosing something in the middle - the garden flatbread. I had an amazing experience here! My now-husband and I were looking for a place to have a private dinner to sign our wedding papers. When the staff found out that we were having a wedding dinner, they brought us free desert and a bottle of champagne. In addition, our waitress at the time - Jane - was extremely friendly and went out of her way to take photos for us and to make sure that we were comfortable and happy. Every dish that was brought out was better than we could have anticipated. The entire party was impressed and said that they would come back in an instant. We went last night and had probably the worst experience I've ever had in dining. It was not crowded at all, and we waited 40 minutes for drinks and an hour and 20 for our food. The waitress forgot one of the salads so that was another 10-15 for that. Of course when it came time to pay, all of our checks were messed up even though we had asked for separate checks from the beginning. We had to ask for refills on water the entire meal, went up and got our own drinks from the service bar as we saw them sitting there for several minutes with our waitress nowhere in sight. The manager Sumit came to help a few times but there was never even an apology for what a terrible terrible experience it was. I was surprised at how empty the restaurant was because it was right across from the Duke Energy Center and there was a big event going on that night, but now I know why. It's too bad- because the food was delicious- but I know not one person in our party of 13 will ever go back or recommend this place. read more

We went to Red Roost Tavern on a Sunday for an early dinner. The food and drinks were fantastic and our server was great. My only complaint would be that it took an extraordinarily long time to get cocktails - maybe 15 minutes - and it was completely empty so it's not as if the bartender was making a ton of cocktails at the time. All the reviews on Yelp, plus my best friend's raving about Red Roost Tavern had me convinced I was totally missing out. I so so so wanted to love this place, but I just couldn't. Maybe it was because it was late night and after the Bengals game, I don't know. From the service to the food, my experience here on Saturday night was sub-par. We were quickly seated at our table, but it did take quite some time for the server to come to take our drink orders. We ended up ordering the poutine (again, what my best friend couldn't stop talking about) as well as the Saratoga chips. The food came out, and I did really enjoy the Saratoga chips - they have buffalo chicken and a bleu cheese fondue sauce slathered on them - very yummy. The poutine, which I was super excited about, however, left more to be desired. For those unfamiliar, poutine is french fries, short ribs, cheese curds, and a gravy-like sauce. It's awesome. This poutine though was rather bland (we found ourselves needing to add salt, and I NEVER add salt to food), and there were literally 3 cheese curds on the whole dish. We were starving, so we ate it anyway. Honestly, if we had wanted to express our disappointment in the dish, we wouldn't have been able to because literally no one - our server, or the manager (who seemed to check in with every table BUT ours) - ever came back to check on us after we received our food. There was one point where we even tried to flag down our server and she either didn't see us or still ignored us. The server finally came back after our plates were clean to give us our checks. I will say the atmosphere/decor here was great. But for the food and service, I think I'll try somewhere else next time. read more

The bacon was essentially beef jerky. $14 for a sandwich that I could have made at home for half price and twice the quality made this restaurant a poor choice. Came across the Red Roost while visiting a family member that was in town staying at the Hyatt and we decided to have breakfast in the hotel restaurant. To my suprise, it was a very good breakfast experience. The breakfast buffet is the only meal that I have experienced at the Red Roost. With the made-to-order omelette station, made-to-order french toast/waffles/pancakes, the smoked salmon and the chicken sausage...........It was a definite winner for us. The farm to table concept is always great and makes for a very fresh meal. Definitely became a return patron to the Red Roost, even though we were not staying at the hotel. The only reason that I didn't give them a 5-star, was because after eating here twice in the past year, they have gone up in price (now $20). Outside of that, if your looking for a really good breakfast, I highly recommend the Red Roost (inside of the Hyatt Cincinnati). read more

RRT provides room service for the Hyatt, where I was staying. I got the grass fed burger, which was huge and delicious, and it came with a TON of fries. The pickles were way too vinegar-y. A bit pricy at $14 (before delivery fees and taxes and all that) but definitely tasty. read more

Went for the breakfast buffet. Delicious. Bagels and lox, eggs, spicy sausage hash browns. Only complaint: had to ask twice for coffee. Ended up wrestling the coffee pot from the waitress and hugging it to chest, grunting and barking. The only thing keeping me from a 1 star is the breakfast service from Andrea. Twice trying to get drinks at the bar half the tables aren't bussed. Never got a cocktail waitress...after being told by the bar we needed to wait for one. Btw...14 customers against 2 bartenders batenders, 2 servers and a barback. Waited 20 minutes and ended up having to order from the bar...no worries but don't tell us to wait...and then get both our drinks wrong. Breakfast buffet.... Only thing good was the bacon, coffee bitter, salmon fishy, cantaloupe green, bread stale, omelets rubbery and bland, scrambled eggs a clump of sadness, grits flavorless, bananas brown....ketchup watery. We ate here this morning and service was horrible. We couldn't get a waiter to come by for anything. When we went up to the grill to place an order for a pancake we were rudely told we had to request things from our waiter. Wellllll...that would be great if we ever saw our waiter. I'm a regular at the Red Roost. Its very close to my office. I eat there 2-3x per week. My business partner probably eats there 4-5x per week. I frequently take guests or clients. Easily spend 150-200 per week between the two of us. I went today and there was unusually long line at the greeter stand. My guest and I waited in line 10 minutes while the super slow greeter seater took each group of tests to their tables. We decided to sit in the bar as time was of the essence and there were many bar area seats available - and the well dressed southern baptist convention center guests wanted to sit at tables and not in the bar area. We walked around the line and sat down at one of the dozen empty high top bar tables in the bar area - like I have done 100's of times before. Within seconds the "slow" greeter was at our table demanding we get up and get back in line as she was seating people and we cut the line. Granted I had never seen this person before and I was not participating in her seating waiting game -but it's the bar area and there were no shortage of seats there and bar is open season - Besides, her running over our table distracted her from her many guests waiting in line. She was quite displeased and demanded we leave - so we left. I will never return nor will my partner. I'm going to start going to Mita's or bru burger were the actually want my business. Too bad, I am friendly with many of the wait staff and servers. Food Is just Ok. It was all about convenient location. read more
