I am very familiar with Red Rooster and Marcus Samuelsson's restaurants as I lived in Harlem for several years. I was hoping Red Rooster Overtown would give the same experience, but unfortunately I think Harlem wins this one! I enjoyed my cocktail and my mom's oxtail mac and cheese was great. Unfortunately, my oxtails were very fatty, and the white rice served with the dish was crunchy and hard, as if it was cooked days ago and left out. As with most of Chef Samulesson's restaurants, the art and decor were bold and fun. The service was pretty good, but I don't know if I'd return.

Red Rooster is our go to happy hour spot and for good reason. The drinks are always on point, the happy hour menu is great, and the bartenders are genuinely some of the friendliest and funniest people behind a bar in Miami. Me and my boyfriend love coming here for drinks and card games and it just never disappoints. We have also done dinner here a few times and the food is absolutely delicious. They now have a Miami Spice menu which I have not tried yet but it is already on my list and knowing this place it is going to be worth it. Solid spot, great vibes, highly recommend!

I've been hearing about Red Roosters new menu and finally came for dinner to try it. The vibe here is always great, especially upstairs with the pool hall, Caribbean music, and drinks. Such a fun night out spot. Food wise, the oxtail mac and cheese was INSANE. Easily my favorite thing we ordered. The fried chicken was also so good and I honestly wish we ordered more. Cornbread was another favorite. I'm not really a collard greens person so they weren't for me, but everyone else loved them. The dessert had a little too much going on for my taste, but our waiter did warn us beforehand lol. Service was amazing. Our waiter was super attentive, gave honest recommendations, and made the experience even better. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to.

I want to start by saying that the shrimp and grits were absolutely delicious -- honestly some of the best I've ever had. Unfortunately, after that, the rest of the experience did not meet the standard I've come to expect from a Marcus Samuelsson restaurant. I've visited Hav & Mar three times already (and actually have reservations again this Thursday!), and I've also had a wonderful experience at Metropolis, even during a chef pop-up event where the service was still top tier. That's why my Mother's Day experience was especially disappointing. From the moment we called the restaurant an hour before our 5pm reservation, to the hostess abandoning the hostess stand to look for menus and when she arrived back, called another party to seat them ahead of us and when I made her aware of this she said oh, I forgot about y'all without even looking me in my eyes, this poor service lasted until the very end of the evening, there seemed to be issues every step of the way. We sent our fish back because the sauce at the bottom was freezing cold and my mom had to ask for S&P for her entree! When we asked to pack our food to go, we were handed plastic quart containers because the restaurant had somehow run out of standard takeout trays. It just felt very disorganized overall. I truly wanted this visit to live up to the experiences I've had at your other restaurants. Red Rooster Overtown's decor was amazing and so was the music playlist but unfortunately some of the food and the service missed the mark for me. For now, I'll happily stick to the amazing food and hospitality of MS restaurants back home in NYC.

When im in town. I make it my mission to visit Red Rooster. Either their restaurant or party space upstairs. Today I will say service was a bit slow at the bar. The drinks just werent doing it and took forever to come out. The poor waitress seemed overworked today and had to keep apologizing. The food was good. Corn bread, deviled eggs, and the oxtail mac and cheese. They all were tasty. The service from the bar cause me to give it a 3.5

Red Rooster delivers a full experience, not just a meal. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere stands out--lively, soulful, and rooted in culture. The music and energy give it a real identity, not one of those places trying too hard to be something it's not. The food is where it really earns its reputation. Everything comes out flavorful and well put together, with a clear Southern and comfort-food influence but elevated enough to feel like you're getting something special. The fried chicken is a must--crispy, seasoned right, and not greasy. Sides and drinks hold their own too, which isn't always the case at spots like this. Service can be a little hit or miss depending on how busy it is, but nothing that takes away from the overall experience. It's a place you go to enjoy yourself, not rush through a meal. Bottom line: Red Rooster is worth going back to, especially if you want good food, good music, and an environment that actually feels alive.

Some of my Sorors and I had dinner here while in the area for a conference. We called when we were about 10 minutes away to make a reservation, just in case one was needed, and the staff was super friendly over the phone. We ended up getting stuck in really bad traffic for almost an hour, but once we arrived at the restaurant, we were still seated quickly without issue. The energy in the building matched the aesthetic. Our waiter deserves 10s across the board for both his patience with first-time, indecisive women (lol) and his overall warm and welcoming presence. We decided to start with cocktails and, after a few questions and many changed minds (lol), we settled on the Tipsy Lemonade (only served in a pitcher), one mango and one strawberry, to share among a few of us at the table. These were soooo good and are definitely a girls' night staple at this point. They do offer a prix fixe menu; the only stipulation is that it must be selected by all parties at the table. There were a few yummy items on the prix fixe menu, but since it was our first time dining there, we really wanted to try a wider variety of options and decided to pass. For appetizers, we shared the deviled eggs, cornbread, oysters two ways, and fritters. For my entrée, I had the oxtail mac and cheese and a side of Brussels sprouts. It was really hard deciding between entrées with so many delicious options on the menu, and I would certainly return to try a few others. The mac and cheese was delicious; however, I was highly disappointed in the small serving of oxtail provided with the dish. Realistically, it was about two small pieces of oxtail with a generous portion of mac and cheese. The quality of the mac and cheese itself was very good. The Brussels sprouts were absolutely amazing! The portion size was perfect for me to pack the leftovers and add a protein for lunch the next day. I cannot wait to return.

As a fan of Chef Marcus Samuelsson, I make sure to support his restaurants whenever they're in a town I'm visiting. My birthday trip to Miami before heading to my cruise the next day was the perfect opportunity to make dinner reservations at Red Rooster Overtown. I received a friendly reminder call the day before to confirm my reservation--which I greatly appreciated and which set the tone for exemplary customer service. We easily found street parking and arrived a few minutes ahead of our Friday reservation time and were immediately seated (the second sign of exemplary customer service). After a long morning touring Overtown, we had an unexpectedly heavy lunch. So I already knew I was going to pack up any leftovers and enjoy them for breakfast before heading to the port for the cruise. I ordered the Lexington deviled eggs and smokestack ribs. My cousin ordered the oxtail mac. All the food was very tasty and met our standards. I've been blessed to have multiple experiences with birthday dinners--from Applebee's and local Mexican restaurants during my undergrad college days to fine dining--and the staff usually strives to make the birthday person feel celebrated. Well, I did not feel very celebrated by Shelbre. I was served the saddest scoop of vanilla ice cream (I suspect Breyers, which I do like) with a single lit candle. He was so dry while serving it that I honestly don't know if he even wished me a happy birthday. That didn't dampen my spirit. There was a "birthday twin" seated at another table, and we greeted and celebrated each other with love and enthusiasm. Overall, the food and vibe matched Marcus Samuelsson's high-standard brand. I just don't think I would recommend the restaurant for a celebratory birthday dinner--maybe happy hour instead.

Quite literally my favorite restaurant in South Florida. It's Carribean Soul Food cuisine, and I've been here about 8 times now - sometimes I order the exact same meal from the time prior, because it's truly *that good. I've taken work colleagues here after a day's worth of business meetings, have taken family members here, and have even been here solo. I haven't had a single item from the menu that I didn't like, and I know good food - I'm from New Orleans. First - you must order the cornbread ("M's Cornbread"). The sweet honey butter that comes with it is amazing! Then there's a lobster mac and cheese dish that comes out in a huge pan/bowl, meant for feeding multiple folks, but if you'd like a smaller serving of just mac and cheese, there's an option for that somewhere on the menu. The mac and cheese has a nice cheese blend within. The Southern Comfort (formerly named the Yardbird, if I remember correctly) is really delicious, and I've had it 3 different times. There's some sort of hot honey glaze that they used to put on the chicken that makes it even greater, but it doesn't come on the *new Southern Comfort meal; just ask for the hot honey on the side, and they'll provide it. Note - it's a sweet type of spice within the honey, rather than a spicy type of spice - if that makes sense. Anther dish I've tried would be the Smoked Oxtails, which were super tender and well-seasoned. The Shrimp and Grits are delicious as well. All that said, the portions are pretty large and filling, so I've never had space for dessert, but don't let that stop you from trying something out from the menu if you can handle extra. Last, the ambiance is dim and comforting; I'd suggest chic-casual attire, although they are not super strict on attire.

We've been to Marcus Samuelsson's restaurant in the Bahamas, Marcus at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House and also got a chance to see him do a food demonstration at SOBEWFF 2024. He seems like a genuine guy and a down to earth chef. I actually watched him on Top Chef. We were blown away with everything we had at his Bahamas location. So when we realized he had a restaurant here in Miami, we decided to check it out during our staycation in Brickell. Red Rooster Overtown was only about 10 min from our hotel so that was perfect. This restaurant was also a part of the InKind app which we use so it was ideal, they actually offered a separate $50 off $150 discount directly from restaurant's website. Our reservation was for 7:30pm on a Saturday night. It wasn't crazy busy when we arrived. Our server was Katie and she immediately made a good impression on us. Katie was incredibly personable, funny and full of energy! I loved her positive vibe. We double checked on the InKind thing and she confirmed but also let us know that she uses it too so she totally gets it. I felt like our whole dinner experience was just chatting it up. Haha. Loved how engaging she was. It was very easy to talk to her and she was a wonderful server that just went above and beyond. Everything we ordered: * Marqueta cocktail $18.00 * Brownstoner cocktail $15.00 * Lexington Deviled Eggs $12.00 * The Grilled Pearl $23.00 * Tuna Crudo $23.00 * Coconut Smoked Oxtails $41.00 * Ice Cream Sandwich $14.00 * Drip Coffee $4.00 Marqueta was my drink, it was a tequila based drink with Don Julio blanco, harissa, chambord, luxardo, pineapple, lime. Smooth and refreshing. Hubby had the Brownstoner which had nutmeg Bulleit bourbon, St. Germaine elderflower, cherry heering. His drink was strong. Didn't love it but he didnt want to return it either. Lexington Deviled Eggs were good. The Grilled Pearl which were grilled oysters with brown crab and chili crunch, this had good flavor and potential but I think it was a tad fishy than it was fresh tasting. Tuna Crudo was delicious and was a thick generous cut, really loved the ponzu and burnt orange flavors. Super fresh tuna. We shared a main course for the Coconut Smoked Oxtails. All the ingredients sounded really interesting. This dish consisted of sweet plantains, yellow rice, long pepper and Thai Basil. Oxtail was a huge serving with three big pieces of oxtail. The peppers were yummy. I don't recall any sweet plantains? Sauce was good but just a big portion. We had to take most of the dish home. We ordered the Ice Cream Sandwich for dessert thinking it would be small. Wrong. It was so big that no way we were eating all that so when it arrived, we offered the tables next to us a portion. Gave half to table next to us and another quarter portion to table next to them. Our neighbors were so grateful that we shared our dessert. The quarter we got was just enough and all we needed. Red Rooster was good but didn't blow our mind like the other Bahamas spot we went to. Food was 4- stars and honestly, our server Katie was 110% awesome and she made the experience that much better for the full 5-star experience! We would come back again to try other menu items. Let me close out by saying we had the cornbread and fried chicken from the Bahamas location was 100% worth it so if you get a chance, get those items!!! BOMB and totally legit!!!

Came in for thanksgiving 2025, since the menu had some fun flavors on it like jerk turkey or pomegranate salmon. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Street parking in maybe not the "best" neighborhood... but I think that's part of the charm (and pays homage to their sister restaurant in Harlem). I took a ride share. Unfortunately it was raining that day so on a packed thanksgiving dinner, it did cause a bit of delay trying to reseat everyone comfortably inside. Luckily they have a big interior and well designed bar area. The hostesses were doing their best to get everyone settled. Weather and rush also caused a bit of delay getting the dishes out, but luckily we never felt rushed with the sitting and our waitress was very kind and doing her best to make things right when timing issues did occur. Food was very tasty. The cornbread starter was better than I expected it to be. I really enjoyed the pumpkin soup. The jerk turkey was OK, I was just maybe expecting more jerk seasoning. Sides were all well crafted. Dessert was OK, the s'mores felt a bit cakey but I appreciated the size (not huge, not minuscule). The whole meal was hearty, I did not walk away hungry. Honestly this place has a really fun vibe. I'd definitely come back on a regular night of even try it again for a special occasion. I heard their Sunday brunch is a must do!

The art and decor at Red Rooster is a whole vibe. Every corner feels unique and thoughtfully designed. I could absolutely see this being a great place to host an event or celebration. The staff was friendly, attentive and genuinely wanted to make sure we were happy. We even sent one item back and they handled it with care and made sure everything was right. The catfish was delicious. The fried chicken was a little overcooked for my taste. They also have an adorable patio that would be perfect for catching up with friends. They were offering a lot of great specials and the menu overall sounded incredible. Definitely worth a visit

Nice place in overtown. The appetizers were amazing. I gave this place a 3 because despite having a reservation we had to wait 20 min for our table. I enjoyed everything from this spot. Live band, the historic value of the place, and of course the food. The manager stated someone quoted that the Mac am cheese was horrible. that's the best damn mac an cheese I've ever had in my life. I went to dinner on a Thursday night and the atmosphere is just as I read in other reviews..A very chill adult vibe..live DJ..eclectic Harlem Vibe with a very diverse crowd.. The space is larger than you would imagined and it has a separate section that I can see would be excellent for private parties and other special occasions or large groups. An extra special shout out to our server mats I hope I got the name correct he went above and beyond to make sure our evening was special even requested the grilled fish on the menu to be fried and OMG it was absolutely delicious I must try hopefully they will add that option to the menu.An extra special shout out to our server Matz, I hope I got the name correct he went above and beyond to make sure our evening was special . WE visited friends from out of town after hearing them rave about the Harlem location. We were very pleased with our service, the restaurant was very busy but the staff was able to accommodate us even though we brought a few extra people. I had the pleasure of meeting the Events Coordinator Carla she was helping me plan a birthday dinner party and was all around helpful although we probably weren't the most organized . She was always quick to get back to me, and had such a great welcoming personality. Last night I ate at red rooster and the food was amazing. Our server Lenny was fantastic. He suggested we order the whole fish, which he pointed out that most of the tables around us had ordered and looked delicious. I do however have a few complaints, the drinks took a very long time. Clearly the bar was overwhelmed but what really surprised me was there was a women standing in the area who was obviously is a Manger and didn't seem to try to help with any of the issues that were going on. I am a manager in a restaurant and I would have made table visits, not just stood around the tables watching my employees run around. Like I said our server was amazing, suggested food and drinks that were delicious and we will definitely be back. read more

The two stars I have were solely for atmosphere, otherwise stay away. This restaurant seems to forget that they are in Miami, the land of superstar chef owned restaurants on every corner. When ANY restaurant thinks they are too good to do a simple side substitution needs to remember who and where they are. The manager literally had the attitude of someone who didn't care if you stayed and ate or got up and left and the servers attitudes aren't far behind hers. There are FAR better restaurants in Miami who are far nicer, serve better food and appreciate those who patronize them. But like I said, the atmosphere is cute...but that's it. read more

The food was absolutely phenomenal!! The Wagyu Oxtail literally fell off the bones and was seasoned to perfection. The Diver Scallops probably one of the best scallop dishes I've ever tasted. The beautiful presentation of the Greens & Grain salad was eclipsed only by how amazingly delicious it was. It was a cornucopia of flavors and colors that mystifies its conception. Everything was great...until we got to dessert. We went on Valentine's Day weekend and normally their dessert menu is already pretty wack... only to be replaced by the evening's sole option of a deconstructed strawberry shortcake. Firstly, the cake part of the dessert was more of a hard dough bread. There was a blueberry merengue that was impossibly tart. There was no type of whipped cream - a key ingredient in a strawberry shortcake and then just some strawberries strewn about for good measure. As a blackowned restaurant, I would expect a better handle on desserts as we're known for throwing down on some sweets. As I said, I've been there before, and their dessert options are usually lackluster. However this version of a strawberry shortcake was just dreadful. PLEASE Red Rooster: I love your food, the ambience, the top tier service... PLEASE ramp up your desserts! Sorry, no happy ending here.. read more

It takes great people to create a great restaurant , and the staff @ the Red Rooster has accomplished that . The food is amazing , we were lucky enough on our second visit to get a table for 12 which allowed us to really explore everything on the menu and no-one was disappointed. Chef Tristen took time out to come by the table and made sure we were all enjoying our spectacular meal , some of the staff we met like Chris behind the bar, that we met on our first visit and Adrian our first server that guided us through your amazing menu are definitely assets to your continued success, but most of all your General manager Reggie who made our special night memorable . There was a chunk of GLASS in my Meal (which I was chewing on in my mouth) and there was very little concern from the restaurant staff. I told the waiter and the "Bar" manager came over to ask about it but it was not until about a half hour later that the actual manager came over for 2 seconds and showed very little concern for what I thought was a pretty critical mistake. And incase you are wondering NO there were NO adjustment to the bill not until someone from my table questioned the "Bar" manager and she took a few dollars off. Hardly a jester considering that I was up most of the night worrying if I should go to the emergency room. The other issue is that we (4 of us) went specifically for Miami Spice but upon arrival the curt waiter said that EVERYONE at the table needed to do Miami Spice or no one can. I have been doing Miami & NYC Spice for YEARS I have never heard of this rule. Then he said the that portions on Miami Spice menu that are also on the regular menu are reduced for Miami Spice? Where is the deal there? Then upon leaving you go to a very dark parking lot (that you have to pay for) and you are confused by a very aggressive what, what appeared to be a homeless man, demanding money for watching your car to make sure that no one brakes into it. I am sorry to say that this may not be the safest neighbourhood in Miami so I do not think it is a great idea to send your clients into this compromised danger. I won't even go in the fact that I paid $38 for a small piece of fish with no sides or vegetables. Very disappointing. read more

The staff was magnificent. A long time Miami resident, finding excellent food service is a rare gem, but certainly Red Rooster can boast about this! Aside from being knowledgeable about he menu, the detail and attention our server had was outstanding, fine art decor was beautiful and live music was fun and lively. Food was very good, Chicken and Waffles, Braised Ox Tail and Beans for brunch! Drinks well made, family-friendly atmosphere, chic without being presumptuous! Chef Samuelsson and his staff have transformed this place into a spot where you want to return again and again! read more

I was here Wednesday night for the first time and I have to say I was super impressed, not only the food bit also the service was above and beyond expectations, we got served by Inty, super fun and knowledgeable guy who guided us trough the menu and explained the items to the full extent, will definitely be back, happy to have found such a gem of a restaurant!! read more

I came for a birthday party to dine for the first time. I ordered a modified Yes Chef cocktail from the bar and it was delicious. It was the best thing I consumed the whole night. I heard they refer to this restaurant as "Harlem in the South" or something like that. This place confirms why you never hear anyone say "I can't wait to go up North to eat!" I ordered the grilled cabbage and it tasted just like water. The char on it was the only flavor I tasted. So I have tasted the elusive "burned water". I ordered the collard greens, and was immediately disappointed by the bitterness from the flavor not being balanced and the earthy flavor of cardamom or nutmeg (???). I tried my best to place the spice so I could figure out what it was that completely ruined a Southern staple unnecessarily. I also had the sweet potato and it was the only thing I finished, not for the taste just for sustenance. The lounge upstairs was cool. I'll come back for the drink and the dancing upstairs, but I'll never make plans to dine again. I can tell they are trying something "new" with an infused Southern cuisine, but all they manage to do is disappoint the folks who know soul food and look like the original inhabitants of Overtown, and delight the folks who do not have proper food references and are accustomed to unseasoned, soulless food that has extra ingredients that do not elevate the dish. They might as well add green bean casserole with hot dogs or potato salad with raisins to the menu. If somebody set up a food truck across the street from this place on the weekend, it would be over for the Red Rooster. Cock-a-doodle-do! read more

I first ate at Red Rooster for dinner earlier in the week and it bowled me over so hard, I just had to come back. Was there today for Saturday brunch and all I can say it it was phenomenal. This restaurant is one of the very rare ones you will find anywhere that is truly a transformational experience. On both occasions, I can't say enough great things about the food (kudos to the culinary team!) but what really brings it all together is the service staff. From the hostesses to the bar keeps to the waiters, they were exemplary. Special shout out to Isaiah who waited on us today and whose charm and caring for the diners he is serving is emblematic of the entire establishment. read more

Love everything about this place. Great ambiance, great service, live music for brunch. The cornbread was delicious, as were the donuts. I ordered the beans which was prob my least favorite. I might have gotten unlucky but I found no oxtail in there. Don't get me wrong, the flavor was great but at the end it was a plate of really tasty beans and I felt it was missing something. We ordered take out and was extremely disappointed when we got home and got ready to eat. The snapper that costs $34.00 was only a piece of fish served with nothing not even vegetables . The cornbread was very dry and tasted old. the carrot cake looked like the scraped the last scrap and gave to us. Lesson learned, will not be patronizing them again. Hey name is Robert And I've eaten here 2x before,everything went wrong a couple days ago from the food quality to piss poor management the service from the sever was great .magnus the general manager is not a great host or person we had with our table as we are addressing the issue I see him looking at my wife's chest. also ,she notice and and cover her self up and told me was very uncomfortable because of him . I love Chef Samuelsson so I was very excited when my husband took me to this restaurant for my birthday. I knew I had to have Marcus' Cornbread and it was amazing! The CCC Fritter were delicious. My husband had the Grilled Yellowtail and he really enjoyed it. I however ordered the Fried Yard Bird but my chicken was raw on the inside. The food did take a while to come but it was a Saturday so I am assuming that's why. Also, I would have liked more space between my table and the table next to me; but all the servers wore masks. We were so hyped about coming here after weeks of waiting on getting a reserved spot. However, we left very dissapoointed after the long awaited acclamated experience. We ought to say that our server Viola was extremely attentive and on spot but none of the plates we ordered were accurately described in the menu. Beef tartare was very spicy, ccc fritters were pretty mild on flavor, shrimp and grits were extremely smoky and ribeye steak cold and over done with burnt tostones and an overpowering mustard bernaise sauce. None of these descriptions were inferred or expected from reading the menu. About the drinks, the dame cocktail had no bourbon taste whatsoever and overly sweet along with other cocktails being pretty light on the alcohol level. The music and overall ambiance was that of a club, not what someone would expect of a fine dining restaurant. Our suggestion is to tone it down a couple of notches. All in all, we are very sad and dissapointed about our high expectations after reading so many great reviews and the OVERALL GREAT intentions of the restaurant and its chefs we are sure. read more

My girl and I were looking to have a casual dinner and I remembered that this spot is actually owned by Chef Marcus Samuelsson from chopped. I walked in at 10PM by myself as my girl was waiting in the car as I know since we didn't have reservations it would be a long wait. I was greeted by a a hostess of who told me to wait for her manager then Ryan (Manager) showed up and asked if I had reservations and I said no just walking in for two. He then said it would be about 40 mins I asked to put in my number or some type of info to let me know when the table is ready (a typical procedure at a restaurant) he said there is no need you are the only one in my wait list and said to come back in 40 mins. I thought this was strange but, kept going with it. I come back 25 mins later noting that the same tables that I saw empty when I walked in are still currently empty and I greet the hostess again and she said to wait for the manager. Ryan comes back and says "ohh shit you're back". Yes Ryan nice vocabulary when greeting your guest of which you are coming back like you said to check in without grabbing any information as if we are playing a cat and mouse game when you have a table ready. There are multiple tables empty and I asked what is wrong with the table which is currently empty Ryan's response "turnaround look behind you". Why the response as if I'm a team member working for him or as if I'm his buddy. Response could've been a normal response using my name of which he doesn't even know because he states that when taking walk ins the company doesn't work this way by taking names or phone number for walk ins. They simply just need to check back and what looks like a free for all. The remainder of the customers behind me was not reservations but rather walk ins with the exception of a large party. Finally Ryan hands the hostess the menus so that we are seated. I have to say Ivan our server was great recommending the fish and took our orders right away. The food is beyond anyone's expectations. Amazing!!!! Amazing!!!! Amazing!!!! We are having a great time Ryan at this time has not touched our table after I told him that you shouldn't speak to your customer this way. He completely ignores out table as a matter a fact the entire time I see him he's is not touching tables at all. Restaurant seems to be dying down as the kitchen is already closing and my girl and I are not done with our food yet we give our credit card to our server and told him we will be right back just going outside for a second and we will continue eating and drinking once we come back. Come back 5 mins later to an empty table with no food or drinks. Just ridiculous! Ryan nowhere to address the situation and I walk and see what seems to be another manager Henry. I told him the situation and his response at some point was "not to point fingers but it was the servers fault". Henry stating that the way they note down the table as the customers are still dinning is by leaving the check in a cup until we come back. How does that even make sense if we come back and us as first time customer see a check without even asking for it what seems like you are kicking us out. Not hospitable at all. Nonetheless, Reggie as the GM the restaurants atmosphere, ambiance and food was just top notch but, we all know we can go to any restaurant and taste great food but it's so sad to see that the managers that run your place don't touch tables while on the floors or the lack of misrepresentation of what your restaurant is to uphold. Then to have a manager that blames an employee and telling a customer. What?! How is that even service. Please reach out to me as this service is something that shouldn't be allowed when your restaurants food and ambiance is top notch. I know Chef Marcus would agree. read more

From my understanding, an automatic gratuity or service charge is required to be disclosed to the guest before the purchase, not something they should only discover when they receive the check. Maybe there was a notice somewhere that I missed, so I'm not saying there wasn't one, but I definitely wasn't aware of it. I think that's an important thing for guests to know upfront, especially because someone could easily add another tip without realizing gratuity was already included. Ironically, the one person I genuinely connected with and had a good conversation with was another guest at the bar, not a member of the staff. That interaction actually helped make my time there more enjoyable. For me, hospitality is about more than serving a drink. Especially when someone is clearly open, friendly, and trying to engage, that's an easy opportunity to create a connection and turn a first-time guest into someone who wants to come back. I felt like I gave plenty of opportunities for that interaction, but it just never really happened. I still had a good time because I can have a good time pretty much anywhere, and nothing happened that would make me say Lost Boys is a bad bar. It just didn't feel like the staff cared much about enhancing the experience beyond serving the drinks. So four stars because I respect what the place is and can see why it works as a neighborhood bar. It just didn't give me a reason to come back, and personally, I don't think I would.

My ladyfriend and I arrived early to the sound bar, and there was already a hearty swarm of brodents and thots lined up to get in. Some crack head outside was shouting about IPA's. I told the door servant that I knew the DJ or something like that, and he let us right in. Once inside, the bar has that edgy big city, small hallway type of vibe. You could barely stand around in there, let alone get to the bar to order a drink. The mix of flapping gums and mixologists concocting cocktails made for a cacophonous distraction from the actual "music" we were there to "listen" to. My ladyfriend and I ducked out across the street to Black Market Miami Bar where the game was on and you could actually order a drink that didn't cost $50+. After a few libations, we headed back to Miami Sound Machine Bar (they need to put 'Miami' in every bar's name down here in case you forget where you are). There was a weird looking guy playing depressing vinyls with singing in different languages. I was more in the mood for something upbeat and groovy like salsa or merengue that I could dance to with my girls. Although I did hear the 12" Andrew Weatherall remix of Happy Mondays "Hallelujah" at some point, a staple at the Haçienda nightclub in Manchester - an institution that shook the music world and changed club culture forever. The head servant at the bar looked like Nirvana (yes, one man looking like a whole band). He was jaded and rude. I don't blame him! As the night wore on, the crowd got larger and more deplorable, and the room got smaller and smaller. I got stuck in an awkward conversation waiting to use the bathroom. I don't think sound bars are for me. Pros: The bar across the street had really fair drink prices, and the servants are polite and efficient. Cons: the ratchet yuppies that inhabit Miami's nightlife, always on the prowl to ruin a subculture with their tackiness.

I recently visited Red Rooster in Miami for their Mother's Day brunch buffet ($65 per person) and left feeling extremely disappointed, despite a few positive aspects of the experience. **The Good:** The restaurant itself is beautiful and well-designed, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The staff was very nice, and our waiter was particularly helpful and attentive throughout the meal. **The Bad:** Unfortunately, the food execution was where this experience completely fell apart. For a restaurant known for its signature dishes like fried chicken, fried catfish, and collard greens, the logistics of the buffet were inexcusably poor. There was a 20-minute wait for waffles, forcing guests to stand in line rather than enjoy time with family at their tables. Similarly, the fried chicken station had a line of 15 people with another 20-minute wait. On Mother's Day of all occasions, why would anyone want to spend their celebration standing in line instead of sitting with loved ones? The waffles could have easily been pre-made or at least cut into quarters to serve more people efficiently. Instead, they used what looked like a commercial waffle iron you'd find at a budget motel, with each waffle taking approximately 2 minutes to prepare. This is simply unacceptable for a high-end brunch service. Several chafing dishes were completely empty at various points during our visit. I never got to try the signature fried chicken or waffles because I refused to abandon my family at the table to wait in those ridiculously long lines. The bagels were stale and tasted like the frozen variety you'd buy at a grocery store - certainly not what you'd expect from a restaurant run by a famous chef. For $65 per person, the experience should have been seamless, especially the food service. While the staff and venue were lovely, the horrible food execution made this Mother's Day brunch a major disappointment. A restaurant of this caliber should know better than to have guests waiting in line for signature dishes during a special occasion buffet. Our Thanksgiving dinner here was a complete disaste. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait 30 minutes for our table. To pass the time, we grabbed drinks at the bar, but when we didn't hear them call our name, the staff were dismissive and unapologetic about the delay. One of our group is gluten-free, and the restaurant's handling of this was abysmal. We had called twice earlier in the day and the day before with no response to ask specificially about gluten-free options. When we got there and asked which menu items could be made gluten free, we were told they could not accommodate at all and only after repeated questioning were we told which items were gluten-free--which turned out to be practically nothing. The lack of effort in accommodating dietary needs was shocking for a $95 prix fixe menu. The service was also inattentive. Our waitress was kind but completely overwhelmed, likely due to being grossly understaffed. We waited a while for our food, and when it finally arrived, we had to request cutlery. Even then, plates were not provided, so we ate directly off the shared serving dishes. This level of disorganization for such an expensive meal was unacceptable. As for the food itself, it was highly disappointing. The turkey was a wing with barely any meat, that we were told when we ordered could be shared between three people. Other dishes were bland or uninspired--certainly not worth the hefty price tag. Dessert was the final insult. After dinner, we were directed upstairs for dessert, only to be turned away because we needed proof of payment--a detail the waitress never mentioned. We even showed the credit card statement and were told this was not enough. When we finally sorted this out, we were greeted with a sparse and unimpressive selection. Promised items like sweet potato pie and chocolate pecan pie were missing, and nothing, not even the macarons, was gluten-free. Overall, this was a poorly managed, overpriced experience. The music was bumping so hard inside that I briefly considered learning ASL just to place my order. Luckily, I was seated on the covered patio, where the food was hot, the music was reasonable, and the threat of noise-induced hearing loss was minimal. The layout was a bit tight--navigating around some tables felt like an obstacle course designed by a particularly enthusiastic game show producer. But my waiter? Absolute MVP. He made sure I had everything I needed, from extra napkins to a steady flow of beverages. Now, let's talk food. Everything was good, but some dishes had that "so close, yet so far" energy. The salads? More dressing, please--right now, it's just lettuce with potential. The cheese grits? More cheese, I beg of you. And the fried chicken? Can a white meat eater get some love? Wings are cute and all, but I was hoping for a little more variety. And then, just as I was settling into my meal, Mother Nature decided to join the party. The highlight of my evening was definitely Bryan, the bartender, who was beyond fantastic. He made the night fun and engaging, even suggesting a game of rock-paper-scissors to help me decide between the seafood bucatini and the fried yard bird. I won the game and went with the seafood bucatini, feeling confident in the choice thanks to Bryan's great energy. I started off with a beer and the famous cornbread with honey butter, and let me tell you, they were delicious. The cornbread was moist and flavorful, and paired with the honey butter, it was basically a dessert on its own. The beer hit the spot, too--perfectly chilled and refreshing. Then came the seafood bucatini, and unfortunately, things went downhill. When I went for the big shrimp on top, I immediately noticed a strong taste of ammonia, which was an obvious red flag. I sent it back after just one bite--it was clear something was off with the seafood, and I wasn't about to take any chances. Despite the bad food, Bryan stayed professional and accommodating throughout. He handled everything with grace and made sure I was taken care of, which is the only reason I'm even giving this place three stars. The atmosphere was fun, the service was top-notch, but the food, at least for the seafood bucatini, was a major letdown. If you go, ask for Bryan--you'll be in great hands--but maybe steer clear of the seafood. read more

I recently had an unfortunate experience at the Red Rooster restaurant, which I visited with my family and friends. Our encounter with one of the hostesses, named Genesis, was far from satisfactory. Initially, we requested to be seated outside, but upon realizing the heat was unbearable, we requested to be moved inside, as per our original reservation. Regrettably, we were met with an unprofessional attitude from Genesis. Despite observing that multiple indoor tables, including our reserved one, were unoccupied, we were misled with the information that all were reserved, leaving us to endure the uncomfortable heat outside. This incident has left me wondering if the service we received was affected by discriminatory motive, as it seemed vastly different from the treatment most of the clientele received. In my opinion, such behavior can be perceived as discriminatory, disrespectful, and self-centered. Hospitality staff should strive for a high level of customer service, and unfortunately, this encounter did not meet our expectations. it's en endemic trend in restaurants lately, the lack of proper coursing or even reasonable food delivery timing. Red Rooster is a beautiful, thoughtfully designed establishment, the food is fun, my server was great, however when all the food seems to show up at once, it totally detracts from the meal. my general expectation is that regardless of what I order (in this case it was multiple appetizers, sides, and one entree to share) that some semblance of order is applied. also for this visit, my drinks arrived after all the food was served, less damming than the receiving all the food at once. I will likely revisit, but only to eat at the bar where i can order and be served in a sensible fashion. Visited Fri night (12/23) and were served by Giraldo. His level of customer service was exceptional as he walked us through the menu items and made recommendations. We began with cornbread, chicken wings and a kale salad to share and all three items were delicious. As we moved to our main courses, we ordered the wagyu, fried chicken and 1/2 chicken with a side of sweet potato and Mac and cheese for the table to share. All entrees were delicious and filling. Definitely recommend you check this spot out. I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I made and confirmed a reservation in advance, but when I arrived, they told me they could not honor it. The staff offered no reasonable explanation and made no real effort to accommodate me, even though I had proof of the confirmation. Reservations are meant to guarantee a table, and it was frustrating to be turned away after planning ahead. It made me feel like my time and business weren't valued. I had heard good things about Red Rooster Overton but it exceeded my expectations on all counts. Great ambiance, inventive and tasty cocktails and each dish more delicious than the last. We shared cornbread and then had the yard bird chicken and pork belly with plantains for main courses. Both incredible! A sweet potato side and macaroni and cheese straight from the gods. We had the grand jubilee and the food was amazing, although easily could have fed 5 instead of just us two. The only little downside was the inconvenience of having to close the tab at the bar instead of just transferring to the table. Food was pretty decent! The deviled eggs with the chicharon was dang good! The chicken sandwich though. left me a bit underwhelmed. It looked initiy like the chicken was not fresh, but the taste was not bad. Tender and well cooked, but a bit dry on the outside. My first time there. A mixed crowd which is always nice. Who knew a little piece of heaven could be found in Overtown. I was pleasantly surprised. The menu during brunch hours is limited. The dinner menu has more choices. The place was very busy when I went. But we were lucky enough to find seats at the Bar. We ate and drank at the bar. The drinks and food are reasonable. The food flavors were all on point, service was exceptional, and the coursing time hit the mark from start to finish. The only reason this is 4 stars and not 5, is hubby's main was not very hot. There were only a handful of tables at the time so that element was a bit disappointing. I opted for Miami Spice, and hubs picked the Express lunch which comes out to a better deal for what he ordered. We never had to look for a server for water, and they were really accommodating in adjusting my order (I have to have sauces on side and low salt right now because of a health issue). On to the main event, the meal! Drinks: Strawberry & Mint Spritz: This N/A bev sounded interesting on paper but neither of us super enjoyed it. It was just a little too syrupy sweet. I love that they're using N/A prosecco and apertivos though and not just putting a bunch of juice and sodas in a cup and calling it a mocktail. If we ever make it back I'd be up for trying a different one on the list or a real deal cocktail. Caesar salad: This was a generous portion with delicate parmesan crisps and large crunchy croutons. The limited amount of dressing I did use was delicious and perfectly balanced. I skipped most of the croutons as they were too salty for me, but probably perfect for the average Joe. Carrot soup: My guy enjoyed this thoroughly, and stopped short of licking the bowl. I tried it, but it wasn't my cup of tea. The presentation was lovely. Crispy Skin Salmon: This was my choice from the Miami Spice menu. It's miso marinated and served with a crispy sushi rice cake, sautéed baby bok choy, and a miso beurre blanc which they put on the side for me. I asked for the fish to be cooked well done, and they nailed that. It was perfection on the tongue and still delicate and moist in spite of being fully cooked. The skin was expertly crisp as well and really tasty. The only negative of this dish was the oil factor. Salmon is oily on its own, but this plate was dripping from the rice cake to the bok choy, and that's omitting the beurre blanc entirely. Speaking of, everything was so flavorful on its own that the dish carried itself without any extra salt or sauce. I did try the beurre blanc with a few bites though and it was nice. Petit Beef Wellington: Aside from not being hot enough, hubby overall enjoyed this. He prefers a lumpy skin on mash, but I thought the mash purée was divine. We just both wish it was hotter when it came out. Cherry Blossom Cheesecake: I haaaate that almond extract taste found in cherry cordials, and this was loaded with it from my one bite. Thankfully I didn't order this. Hubs did, and loved it! Also the plating was beautiful! Sticky Toffee Pudding: Was this the best STP I've ever had? No. Was it enjoyable? Absolutely! In hindsight, I wish hubs had gotten the 2 course express menu and split this dessert with me because it's full size and a massive overload of sugar for one person. I barely ate a quarter and ended up in a sugar coma the rest of the day. Would I still order it again? You bet your sweet ass! To wrap this up, this was a surprisingly enjoyable meal. The check still packed a punch though at $150 for two with one mocktail. Overall I do think it's a great pick for a nicer meal with upscale British and European favorites with a global inspired twist.
