Usually I have an okay experience here but this time I called ahead and they told me 20 mins so I waited 25 mins and walked over because it's so close to my house , but this time was different. I got there and paid for my order and tipped and just stood there waiting for another 20 mins and no one said anything to me until I said how long do you think it will be , and I was told they are just starting to work on it. The food, service, and atmosphere are the best! It was so great that I went back again today. The Parmesan truffle fries are beyond amazing! I had the Dirty Bird Panini, and it melted in my mouth. My son ordered the Mother Clucker and devoured it. We also had milkshakes that were made the old fashioned way and a strawberry and banana smoothie that were delicious. I was in town from California visiting my little sister and she recommend the Red Rose Desserts for lunch. I'm going to start this off with what's important first off it was a delicious lunch! I had a cup of the soup of the day and haft of a sandwich called the Dirty Bird with a ginger cookie for the road wow I love this place!! Delicious!!!!! Thank you Amanda for explaining the menu and being so friendly. My only mistake was only ordering the half sandwich not the whole one so next time whole sandwich and I am looking forward to trying the tuna. So glad I chose them to provide desserts for my 9/21 wedding. They were wonderful to work with, very accommodating, helped build a custom menu with a huge assortment of flavors, and the end results were gorgeous! Guests raved! In particular I recommend their light, delicious white-cake cupcakes and their unbelievable cheesecakes. Have also stopped in a number of times for a sandwich and am never disappointed - generous portions, very fresh ingredients, nice freshly baked rolls, and a million choices. I have never left a bad review, normally i just keep to myself but this place deserves the negativity. We decided to stop in on my birthday because we were in the area. What a mistake that was! The owner basically called my diet restrictions weird to my face when I asked for egg yolks only. I explained it was an intolerance but she wasn't having it! She said it was too expensive and no room in kitchen to separate the eggs, (Mind you they will sell you egg whites). My husband told her we would pay for the eggs and any extra needed to add filler. She said she wouldn't do it. Now I know why, the egg whites she offers are probably out of a carton. What is the difference of throwing the white and keeping the yolk if were paying the same amount. There isnt any so how can you say they are fresh?!? Sorry i dont eat chicken placenta. We will never go back and we will spread the word about this terrible establishment. This was our first time visiting and we'll definitely be back! Cozy cafe with super friendly staff and great food. We were pleasantly surprised to find they serve all day breakfast. I'm always on the hunt for fresh corn beef hash and I frequently get disappointed when a restaurant serves canned mush. Not here! They lived up to their word on the menu and it's truly house made fresh corn beef hash. The assorted baked pastries looked amazing too but we had leftovers from breakfast so we'll have to try those next time. They definitely live up to the 5 star ratings! read more

It is my honor to give this glowing review of this new place in Colchester, CT. What town DOESN'T need an awesome bakery? Colchester is fortunate to have this one. On board baking is Judy Ports who has owned her own company (Oh My Biscuit!) and who is baking up a storm in their kitchen. She is constantly tweaking her wares and is open to suggestions, too. I look forward to trying more of her offerings in the future! In addition, I had their seafood chowder today. I took a chance in ordering this because chowders usually have a pound of potatoes in them and two pieces of seafood which taste like rubber bands soaked in water that fish have swam in. But this chowder. This chowder I could get excited about. Tons of seafoods, great flavor, and begging for me to take home a container to share with my husband. Which I did. The dessert case is full of all kinds of goodies. There was not enough time to order everything so I guess I'll have to go back. And their coffee is not too bad either! (I know my coffee, trust me). The restaurant is clean, has plenty of parking all around, and has great friendly service.
