I ordered an omelette, and it was honestly the fluffiest I've ever had. Instead of toast, I chose the fruit cup, and it was all fresh, seasonal fruit -- not the usual filler melon most places rely on. My friend came from NY and was craving pancakes and of course in had to search on Yelp to find a pancake place near by. I saw good reviews at Breakfast at Angelo's and we took a drive. Finding parking was an event as it was snowing and I couldn't see the parking lines. The GPS took us to an area where we had to walk through an ally to find the diner. Walking in the diner was small and cozy. We were greeted quickly and seated. Our waitress had a great personality. We order the Phat Boy Breakfast and she warn us it was a lot of food. My husband and I went to Angelo's for breakfast on Father's Day. The selection was so good it wasn't easy to decide. I had their summer omelette and my choice of sides was toast and fruit - very good. My husband had the western omelette with toast and home fries and was very happy with the omelette size. A friend put me onto this spot and we stopped in for breakfast. The service was super friendly and I could tell there were plenty of regulars. I got the strawberry French toast! I love thick French toast, and this soaked up the syrup perfectly. I also grabbed a side of bacon and sausage on the side and both were perfectly cooked and crispy. The orange juice was a bit smaller than I expected, but still complimented my breakfast very well. The wall of animal portraits had me cracking up. Specifically the cats playing the piano and cello. I usually don't write bad reviews but this needed to be heard The place was very tight and unorganized. Thankfully me and my partner found a seat at the bar nicely. I ordered a yogurt parfait and was very clear that I have a severe nut allergy. The waitress assured me that there were no nuts in the granola. When the food came out it looked so good! As I was about to eat it the yogurt parfait the person I was with stopped me and noticed that they saw something that looked like a nut in the granola. After closely observing it there was DEFINITELY some type of nut in the granola. We called the waitress back and she said once again that there was no nuts in it. After that she brought out the package that contained the granola in my yogurt and it was literally "Almond granola" After explaining that I CANNOT have this granola she went back to the kitchen. 5 minutes later the chef came out and explained that the waitress didn't know. Not quite sure that is accurate as it had a tin flavor. The breakfast tacos are missing something........ oh that's right. Flavor and chorizo. Today we decided to have some breakfast with the family. It was close to home and for us we have never been and for us it's been years since they last visited. The cafe is really cute. Didn't expect it to be extremely busy. So happy we made reservations for a larger party. It was busy . We waited a good 15-20 min before someone got to us and ask about drinks. This is not the place to rush and leave. Not happening. Atleast not during the weekend. But we got the orders in , it took a while but we were in no rush . When the some of the dishes came out they came out 1by 1 where we had to wait a bit for the others . They all didn't come out at the same time. The portions were big. Very tasty! I had the Tres Tacos de Desayuno. The tacos were made out of corn. They do not have GF pancakes or toast. So if you are ok with just eating eggs with a side of your choice then you have options. If you want toast to go with breakfast like I usually like .. there isn't any . The other orders from the table were great. Everyone Loved it. Still full from breakfast.! Breakfast is so worth a stop in here!!! My breakfast was under $20. I started with a coffee and a blueberry muffin. Coffee was fresh and strong to power me up for the day. They had different creamers too. I had a muffin that she warmed up for me. This wasn't a throw it in the microwave warm up! This was, "let me slice it in half, put a little butter on it and grill it so it was crispy and soft. Such a tasty dessert!!! I absolutely loved this! I also ordered the breakfast quesadilla. This was not a thrown together quesadilla. This dish was seasoned and had flavor! It came with freshly made pico de gallo and sour cream. I asked for a side of bacon and avocado. Another awesome item to order! The waitress asked how everything was routinely and was very kind and friendly. The cook even came out and asked if i was enjoying my meal. The food was really delicious. I couldn't eat it all so i asked for a to got box. Then they brought me a dessert and thanked me for coming in. I had to get that to go too. I ate the rest for lunch and dinner. Was coming from an appointment at the Veteran hospital right around the corner from this beautiful little spot! The restaurant is really nice. One sure fire way to grab my attention is to tell me where your bread comes from. I don't even have to know the place. I just assume the bread is going to be good. I was thinking about a breakfast sandwich, and Little Cake Cafe's website said they're using Nardi's whole wheat, rye, etc. I was in. I've never ordered food from LCC. In their early days, I walked in because I wanted to see if they were selling little cakes (and what they looked like). They weren't. It's more of a breakfast/lunch place. Despite hearing good things from friends over the years, I hadn't been back until I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese on Nardi's whole wheat toast this weekend. As I hoped, the bread was great and they smartly packaged it in breathable wrap, rather than foil, so the steam didn't ruin the toast. I respect that level of attention to detail. The egg was how I like it for takeout sandwiches - grilled with a set, but not overcooked, yolk. The sausage was surprisingly in split link form, but it was very tasty and it worked. We went here last Sunday for breakfast. I got the Veggie Omelette and my wife got the French toast. She was less impressed with her meal than I was but we both enjoyed our food. I couldn't believe how packed the omelette was, and it was very tasty, not wet like it could have been. Our waitress was a little stiff, not quite to the point of being impolite, but just seemed like she was bothered to wait on us, which was odd since business was going well but the place wasn't packed. I moved to Newington about a year ago and spotted this little café during one of my trips to explore the town. I finally made it in and the inside was just as cute as I imagined. We were quickly sat at a table inside and our server was very friendly he quickly brought us both coffee and juice. My husband ordered a traditional steak and eggs well I ordered a breakfast salad called greens and things. I substituted scrambled eggs for an over medium egg and we also ordered a single pancake to share. While we were waiting for our food to come out I noticed one woman had canceled her order because her partner had finished his breakfast and her food has still not been served. Our server came over twice to apologize for the wait, my husband's plate came out shortly after the apology and mine was delivered by a member of the kitchen team to apologize. The steak and eggs were "very good". His potatoes looked really great. My salad was very nice. The egg was perfectly cooked as were the potatoes. The salad was slight overdressed so I might ask them to put the dressing on the side next time. I had seen the positive reviews of their pancakes and wow!!! They were INCREDIBLE!!! We were given a syrup packet but it honestly didn't need it. Worth the wait! We visited Little Cake after a quick online search for breakfast places. First thing to be aware of: the location is a little bit hard to find. Even though the address is on Main Street, there is no storefront on Main Street. Instead you have to go into the town square on the back side to find the Little Cake. 2nd thing: be prepared to wait... for a while. The staff is kind and friendly, but not efficient. Each time we've gone (4 times so far) it has taken a while to be seated, a while for our waiter to come, and a very long while for our food to arrive. On our last visit, we arrived at 10:45 and food was placed in front of us at 11:50 and there weren't that many people. BUT, THE FOOD!! Ohh the food! I got an omelette with onions, mushrooms, spinach, and swiss. This is my standard at every cafe/dinner. This is the best omelette I've ever had. It tastes like each of the veggies was separately seasoned before going in the dish. My children got the pancakes which were thick and fluffy and perfect! I'll start out by saying the food was actually pretty good, and that's where the good stops. Walked in and was told "you can sit in that corner I'll be over in a min" the lie detector determined that was a lie.. ordered two iced coffees and two waters. Maybe 12 cubes of ice total in all four cups so I ask for ice and got a half of a cup. I'm not sure if they had an ice shortage but it was not nearly enough for iced coffee. The food came out and we had no silverware, waited two minutes for it, no butter on toast, had to ask for it. No jelly on table, had to ask for it. He brought two for both of us. Maybe they're super strict on food cost who knows... ketchup and hot sauce were empty on the table, and the one next to us. Finally got some from third table. One guy watched soccer the entire time on tv until two cute young girls came in, which was the only time anyone in that place smiled. There is so much more to a restaurant than the food. My fiancée visited this place solo recently and she loved it so much she said we had to come! Well of course I'm up for a nice breakfast date! So here we are! From the name, to the decor, the fresh baked goods in the glass that remind me of the old sitcoms where the wife would bake a pie and set it in the kitchen window, to the everything. I went the healthy and sweet route with the bowl of fruit. Of course I had to ruin my healthy meal by adding a side of bacon. Lol. Everything was very good, but didn't completely blow me away. It was a great portion size and didn't leave me feeling super stuffed. Value: The quiché with a side is only $7.95! Those are amazing prices! You never seen them that good in Connecticut. No stress, super friendly, polite, everything positive. I had a super simple breakfast which was also super cheap. I believe it was $6 for 2 eggs and 2 sides of your choice. I chose scrambled eggs with bacon and fresh fruit. Eggs were vibrant yellow, perfectly cooked and scrambled nicely. Bacon was crispy and not full of grease or oil. Their seasonal fruit was fresh and cut into little bite size pieces. The restaurant itself was clean, simple as well as the decor. There was a little bird decoration on the window sill and felt like it was just the perfect touch! I never, ever leave negative reviews. I've done customer service before and understand things happen but what happened today at this establishment was unacceptable. I feel the need to warn others. Let's start with the interior. It's very crowded and scattered decor wise. The entrance door is hard to open and doesn't close properly. The 10 year old dollar store decor looks old and like it hasn't been cleaned in years. The tables are small-wobbly, dirty and close together. The chairs were comfortable so I guess that's a plus? The service seemed adequate; the waitress seemed relatively friendly. Until I asked her to take my coffee away. I am not usually a coffee snob but this coffee tasted awful. Weak, watery and old. Maybe I got a bad cup? Maybe the coffee the waitress kept slopping all over the floor and table and not cleaning up (at all) would've been better. The cups are also small, old and very chipped. The food...well that's the second worst part. They offer chorizo as a side (which I usually love) so I ordered eggs scrambled with that and cheese. Apparently you have to order a whole meal to get eggs? I also wanted to try the pancakes because I've heard they serve them with real maple syrup. I don't mind paying for quality food. What I received was two pancakes that were definitely frozen at some point and cold plastic Smuckers containers. Annoyed, I sent them back with the waitress. Between the wait, the gross coffee and the obviously previously frozen food, I admit to describing them as "awful". She offered to take them off the bill which I did not request. She asked if the rest of the food was ok. Oh you mean the overcooked eggs with a speck of cheese and crumbled Brown n serve sausage(def not the advertised chorizo)? The spongey, bland potatoes that likely came out of the same freezer as the pancakes? The toast that was burnt on the ends but undercooked in the middle? I said "not great" and explained that I'm on a strict schedule with meds so I would eat it. I ate a few bites of egg and potatoes. And here comes the best part: the chef coming out to confront me about me sending food back! I'm not a very picky eater and rarely send food back, but in the instances in my life that I have, I've never had a chef come out and confront me like we were appearing on Jerry Springer together. He introduced himself as "Angel the chef". (Although other reviews indicate that he is Angelo, the owner. Kinda wondering about the name thing but whatever) I thought maybe he was coming out to apologize or ask what happened. Instead, he stepped towards me in a manner that left me cornered in my chair. I did quip "maybe you're not that good at your job" which was rude but the guy had me cornered. I felt cornered and angry and was just trying to leave in a dignified manner. He began telling me he's never had anyone dislike his food. (Other reviews indicate otherwise and also that hes said the same thing to them) He then proceeded to tell me he cooks for 300 ppl a day, no complaints. (Another obvious lie) As he spoke he moved closer to me .I bit my tongue because again, I did not want a scene and didn't know if his aggressive stance would end in him physically assaulting me. He continued to inflate his own ego. I told him I def wouldn't be coming back; I'd be paying my bill and leaving. He said something about how i could stand to be nicer before walking away. I'm pretty sure he felt so comfortable doing all of that because I am a woman. I read in the other reviews that people of color were treated poorly; perhaps there's a side of sexism potatoes to go with the racist omelettes here. I'm not sure but I definitely won't be back. And one last thing- I asked my friend to pay the bill so I could walk outside. (I was still upset from the confrontal chef/owner Angel/Angelo and his nonsense) I asked her what I owed her.
