Two words "Cheap Dates" (dates wrapped in bacon)............they are the most delicious item on the menu (unless you dont like bacon) I LOVE them. Everything tastes really good but I always come here for the Cheap dates since it is the only restaurant that I know of that has them. It is perfect for sharing or eating them all on your own. The restaurant itself has a friendly staff and everything is really fresh. The decor is a perfect blend between rustic/contemporary and the noise level is not too quite but not super loud so you are able to have a conversation. Red Table is a hidden gem! A neighborhood restaurant, perfect for an outing with your family, friends, or even a date! I went to eat dinner with my family there. Almost all of the meals on the menu are intended for sharing. It was perfect for my family so we could sample different meals. We ordered the meatball sliders, baked shrimp and crab dip, red table fries, spinach salad and fish and chips. One of each was plenty to feed a family of four. Out of the all meals we ordered, the meatball sliders and the red table fries are the top contenders. The sliders are spicy but delicious and the fries are like your classic fries but flavorful. Not only the food were good, the service was great. Our waitress was very attentive, making sure we have enough to drinks and bringing us what we need promptly. Had a wonderful evening at Red Table. Food was great as always. We usually go early to enjoy the sliders for happy hour. Tonight we decided to have burgers for dinner. Had the table burger and fries (and cheap dates of course). Wonderful as always. Manager Marshall came over to talk to us a few times. He noticed we were enjoying the new full bar menu and wanted to make sure we were enjoying our cocktails. Had some great specialty vodka drinks. I don't see much not to like at Red Table. The atmosphere is great, the aromas are fantastic, and the staff are very nice and friendly. Although I like many items on the menu: Spaghetti with meatball! Bacon wrapped dates served with marscapone! And more! BUT for me, my favorite is their Cioppino! I love this place! I've gone three times for the beef stroganoff in the last two months and it's the best. The service is great and they will always let you taste a wine if you're not sure what you want. They also have a generous pour, which is wonderful. Had the pleasure of eating dinner at Red Table with my whole family recently. From my 93 year old Grandfather to my 2 year old daughter the diverse and delicious menu offered up a plethora of interesting and tasty fare for everyone in our party. The 'cheap dates' , bacon wrapped figs served with a marscapone cheese dip, were sublime. My Grandfather who became a professional Salmon fisherman at age 14 and subsequently owned a succesful LA fish market for over thirty years, inhaled his Salmon dish and declared that it was cooked to perfection and that he'd be coming back for more. My Dad had the 'Table Burger' which he graciously shared with me and I am happy to report it was insanely decadent and delicious. Probably one of the best burgers I have ever had the pleasure of eating. I ordered the roasted beet salad as a starter and really didn't know what to expect. I was absolutely blown away at how good it was. Probably my favorite dish of the evening. The funky casual family style atmosphere, along with the tremendous wine and beer selection ( and the generous sampling there of) , coupled with truly delectable and unique dishes we had that evening, resulted in a memorable, fun filled evening that left a lasting impression on the whole family. Red Table which is one of my favorite hidden gems in Huntington Harbor disappointed the other night. Our pork belly and chop chop salad was excellent as usual. We were so pleased when we arrived when we discovered the lamb stuffed poblano chili was on the specials. We ate this once before and it was divine. Tender chili and lots of creamy lamb. What we were served on Monday night (and all 3 of us ordered) was not the same dish. So, so disappointed. Each chili was stuffed with a few tiny morsels of lamb and at least a half a cup of rice or more and this was served on top of even more rice. Ugh! All three of us barely made it through one chili each. Shame on Red Table chef for ruining a good thing. Will never order this again. Too bad because the original was the best. read more

WOW this is my first yelp review, had to do it. I've been here before. It's always good . The new bar manager (Jerimia) talked me into trying a couple of classic cocktails. Again WOW I enjoy craft beers and wiskeys, but don't care for overly sweet cocktails. These were amazing ! I was served the best old fashion that I have ever had. Living in the neighborhood, I wanted this place to be great. We walked in, and the place is impressive. Very very attractive and inviting design. Total winner there. We ordered: - meatball sliders (really nice presentation) - no substance, no bite. I kept looking at it to see if was undercooked? Kinda lacking anything memorable where I would ever order again. - spinach soup - this was delicious, fresh, light, and rich at the same time. Would have liked it served warmer, but that is so minor. - Sweet potato fries - excellent crispy outside, creamy inside. Aioli was curious. - Potato salad - this is a fingerling potato approach that does not work for me. it appears coated with the same curious, semi-unpleasant lingering aioli flavor profile that I personally did not find to my liking, but lived with for a while. - House salad - my beloved darling wife seemed to enjoy. I did not partake. We may go back, and explore other menu options, but I was not impressed enough that the flavors overcame the service concept. Disclaimer: The "grab a menu-seat yourself-order at counter" concept may be OK for California Fish Grill (even Fish Camp is stretching the concept), but not here. I was ready for it, because I did my homework. However, when I walked into Red Table's beautiful room, every single vibe points to a "service" experience. I found it very disconcerting, and contrary to the elegance of the environment. The dining area is long and relatively narrow, and quite packed with chairs, tables, and the bar. It can be a long, weaving walk to get to the counter to stand in line, and place your order. Patrons are regularly excusing themselves 'through' the line to achieve access to the restrooms. Also, my beloved wife has certain preferences in her dining choices, so she had to make the walk with me, stand in the line in front of the (semi-harried) cashier, and make her inquiries in public, with others waiting behind us to place their order. This service concept trend is wholly appropriate for a down-scale, "less-fast" food eatery, but certainly questionably inappropriate where an upscale, mature clientele is seated before linen-esque table accoutrements. read more

I freely admit - I wanted to like Red Table from the start. Huntington Harbour is a great place to live, but we have no neighborhood center, and downtown is 8 miles away. Huntington Harbour Mall is the closest we've got, but it's been mostly geared towards services - realty, dry cleaning, etc. Things started to change when Trader Joes came in. And then a sign went up signaling the coming of a new restaurant: Red Table. Its tagline of "Good food. Wine. Craft beer" was promising. And so I watched the progress. And this past week it made its official debut. Red Table is just what this location needed. It is upscale, yet remains casual. They offer a variety of seating options - from the namesake red communal table, to standard tables and booths, to a comfortable set of sofas and a nice long bar. They hit the sweet spot of reasonable prices, good quality, and creative cuisine. The menu is varied, and many of the choices are designed for sharing. I've been several times already to explore the intriguing options. My favorites so far are the ahi poke - a great portion for $7 served with uniquely yummy eggplant chips. I've also enjoyed their spin on devilled eggs. The roasted beets haven been a real hit with my friends, as is the trio of dips. Vegetarians have plenty of selection at the Red Table, but carnivores won't be disappointed by the winemaker burger or the "cheap date" bacon-wrapped dates. I'm also in love with the nori-dusted samurai fries, served with Wasabi mayonnaise. This is all rounded out with a great craft beer selection and a nice list of wines by the glass. I've just discovered Torrontes, and they offer a nice one that goes well with their dishes. Save room for dessert, because the cannoli are to die for. And at $5 for five, there's no reason not to buy 5 and share. I also discovered the Red Table cupcake, served literally in a cup. It's warm and wonderful. The staff are friendly, and the whole atmosphere is a warm, social one. The ordering may be a bit confusing at first, but it actually works. You order at the register, get a number and return to the table you selected. If you leave the tab open, servers working the room can assist you with additional items. Olive Pit seems to have recently returned to full table service, but I think this model is catching on, and it keeps things moving. The place has been full each time I've visited. Some is likely due to locals hungry for such a place and wanting to check it out. But if they're like me, they'll keep it full with their return visits. read more

This restaurant is great. Majority of the menu is gluten free (or can be made gluten free) and everything we ordered was delicious. It makes a nice change from having only a few gluten free options on the menu like a lot of places. The server was very friendly and attentive too. Went for nice family time early dinner to try the new place out. Turned out to be a disaster. We went up to the counter to order our food, with some young kid gnawing on a piece of paper, must of been a daughter of one of the owners. My wife and daughter ordered salads, I ordered a burger. Paid for the meal and noticed they added a 5% service charge to the bill. Thought to myself, at least they will give some service. Being the only ones in the joint, figured the food will be served in a timely matter so I will get to work in a timely matter. My wife's salad comes out first and then one of the food runners come over to let us know the food comes out in stages cause they figure we are all sharing. Not good figuring. She tried to remedy the situation, but 10 minutes later, she comes out and states the health lady is here and they can't make burgers right now, for some reason. I asked to see the manager,but server comes back and says problem solved. Burger comes out 10 minutes later without the fries. They came out after I was done with the burger. All this time the owners are at a table near by plotting their future. Another server came over and asked how things were, and as I was explaining my problem, he was skidooing away. The food here is always great. I'm reviewing the service this time. I sat at the bar and there were about 6 other people there at the same time, so it wasn't very busy. I ordered my glass of wine and wanted to place a takeout order. It took me almost 20 minutes to do that because the bartender seemed WAY more interested in the football game that was on tv than she was in me. Finally I placed my order, the food came pretty quick and I was outta there. I got home to find the au jus container wasn't sealed properly and spilled everywhere (including in my car) and the salad that I had ordered without the blue cheese actually came without dressing, but had PLENTY of cheese. I called the restaurant to inform them about what happened and all the manager said was,"what would you like me to do?" I was real disappointed in that response. I've read other reviews that say the management doesn't care about the guests, THEY NEED TO START because you can have great food in a restaurant, but if the service isn't up to par, people will go somewhere else. Have been to Red Table several times for lunch. We always start with Cheap Dates, a delicious start to the meal with crisp bacon wrapped around the dates and served with arugula and mascarpone. Outstanding. Two of my favorite lunch items are the Winemaker Burger, cooked perfectly to order. This delicious cabernet reduction burger includes ground steak, mushrooms, caramelized onions and aged aged cheddar. Another favorite of ours is the Spinich Salad, which they'll split for you to share upon request. Bleu cheese, candied walnuts, red onion, bacon dressing and a chopped egg. Splitting the Winemaker Burger and salad, along with the decadent Cheap Dates, makes for a virtually perfect lunch. Prices for lunch are faily reasonable considering the quality of food. I would highly recommend this restaurant! The only reason I gave it Four Stars instead of FIve is that the chef is very picky about pre-spliting only certain items. Could be a bit more flexible. read more
