We happened upon this delicious restaurant by chance! Saw it as we drive by and decided to come check it out for dinner on a Sunday night. Max was our server and he took great care of us from beginning to end. We ordered the ceviche mixto to start. It was so tasty with all that fresh seafood in a light tangy sauce. We ordered fried tortillas to accompanied it. For the mains, we ordered the lomo saltado and the steamed black cod dish. This was one of the best lomo saltados that I've had. It had the charred smokiness reminiscent of the Chinese "wok hei" taste. The beef cubes were tender. The potato fries were perfect because they still had a bit of hardness and not all mush by the end of the meal. The portion was generous and easily can be split and shared with 2-3 people. The Chifa black cod dish was a smaller portion. The cod was buttery soft and had a very delicate flavor. We really like this dish too! We were treated to a complimentary sample of their sushi as well. So nice of them! It was a delicious smoky aburi salmon nigiri. That smoky taste was still in my mouth an hour after we left the restaurant! We will definitely be back when we're in the area again and will be telling all our friends about it. This restaurant has been opened only one year and I hope it will get more traction.

Delicious food and wonderful service! Will definitely be back. I want to try more sushi, which was fantastic

The drinks are a must, especially their pisco sour. We tried the mixto grill plate that included scallops, shrimps, and octopus! The shrimps were so good, they had a charbroiled flavor. It was a nice sampler to try everything, however, the octopus was a bit chewy. We also had a ceviche dish with scallop and fish. The scallops were sweet and delicious, I would order a scallop only ceviche if they served it. The server was very informative introducing the dishes, thought process, and specials menu. As the restaurant got more busy, expected on Friday night, then there were less check ins with our server. I would definitely return to try their hot plates and stir fry dishes.

My girlfriend wanted to try this new place instead of Omakase and I'm SO GLAD WE DID! Parking is pretty easy around the restaurant so no worries there. Once you enter, you feel like you've taken the magic school bus straight to the markets of Peru. You become instantly transported to flavor town instead of Huntington Beach. I love the decor and the layout of the place. Water tastes very clean and filtered. Not tap. Food: - POTATO CHIPS! They gave these out for free with a little chili dipping sauce, and these were absolutely addicting. I could eat a whole bowl of these. 10/10 - Mix of the Sea - Sizzling Platter - honestly everything was pretty good except for the octopus/Pulpo. Good thing we didn't order the full octopus appetizer because I would've been sad. The flavors were good though. Shrimp was delicious. I could have done all shrimp. Scallop had an amazing butter on there. Squid was tender. However, Octopus was a little tough and rubbery. Not as tender as I hoped. 7/10 - Playa Mixto - Mixed ceviche - This was the same case here I loved the scallops. Fish was tender. Octopus was not as tender as I had hoped. 8/10 Drinks were very delicious as well! We had the Tamarind and the Pisco Sour. 10/10 Service was a little bit slower as it was super busy. I think they could have added one more server. However all of the staff was very nice and friendly. They seemed like they were in the weeds since there were a lot of big parties. I've definitely been there before. We didn't get to try any of the dinner portion menu since we were kind of full but the Lomo Saltado looked bomb. Definitely would come again!

Came here for a date night and experienced good food and cocktails. I ordered a couple of specials. Standout was the marinated beef hearts. It was so tender and a bit smoky, almost like yakitori. Another special was the quinoa risotto tenderloin. The tomato jus was chefs kiss! Seco Norteno - a bit heavy on the starch with the beans and yuca. After a few bites it tasted all of beans. =/

    TNT sushi

This was easily the best meal we've had in years. I genuinely can't believe it took us two years to finally try this place. We had the pleasure of trying the TNT sushi, a mixed seafood ceviche, a steak entrée with rice and plantains, and a couple of drinks. Everything was incredible, but the TNT sushi especially stood out. It was beautiful, and the char added so much depth and flavor to every bite. The ceviche had a mix of the different seafood they offer, and the fresh, bright lime flavor was perfect. The steak entrée was just as memorable--the sauce was bold, rich, and packed with flavor, and everything on the plate worked so well together. I had the house margarita, which was subtly sweet with a surprisingly complex flavor and easily one of the better margaritas I've had. The service made the experience even better. We sat at the bar and felt genuinely welcomed from the moment we arrived. The service was personal and attentive, and they took the time to understand our questions and walk us through the menu rather than making us feel rushed. Between the incredible Peruvian-Japanese flavors, the quality of the food, and the impeccable service, this was one of those meals you keep talking about afterward. We will absolutely be back.

Saw this place on Yelp and was interest on the unique take of this restaurant. This Peruvian restaurant has some Asian fusion in their dishes. The service was excellent and I really enjoyed the complimentary cilantro soup and home-made potato chips. Scallop she'll (4/5); This was grilled with cheese and butter inside. The cheese was a bit strong, but it was unique thing to try. Limo Sataldo (4/5); The meat was a bit rubbery, but the flavor was on point. Chaufa Marino (4/5): This fried rice has scallop, octopus, and jumbo shrimp. The flavor was good, but could be stronger Grilled octopus (5/5); This was by far my favorite fish. It was super tender and juicy. I really liked how the chimichuri enhanced the flavor.

Great interior and welcoming atmosphere. The service was top notch. The server was very welcoming. The food tasted great. Portion size was surprisingly small considering the price tag.

I was looking for a different kind of cuisine, something we haven't tried before... so of course I looked to yelp for a recommendation! So glad we decided on Rocoto, had a beautiful dinner with my sister and mom. We decided to sit at the bar- what a delightful and insightful man the bartender was. We tried the ceviche , octopus and a couple other items. Everything was flavorful and quite unique. The wine was also delicious. We can't wait to return. We stayed with the fresh items on the menu, so when we return I am definitely going to try the lomo soltada. All the employees are sweet and friendly, give this place a try.

My wife and I were pretty blown away by this place. We used to eat here when it was Boston Market so we were amazed by the transformation. Beautiful interior with very comfortable seating. Outstanding welcoming service from the moment we walked in the door until we left. While perusing the menu we were brought fresh made potato chips served with a spicy dip. Very unexpected unique complimentary starter! We started with Peruvian scallops that were grilled in the shell. Two Parmesan Reggiano and two brown butter hazelnut. These scallops are really tiny for the price but with huge flavor. Both flavors were fantastic and I would order again. I love Peruvian Cebiche so I got the playa mixto which was fish, shrimp, octopus, scallops, corn nuts, onions, and sweet potato served in a spicy tigre leche marinade. Seriously the best cebiche I have ever tasted. The seafood was as fresh as it gets and the liquid was spicy and sour. I'm salivating right now thinking about it. My wife went with the classic Lomo Saltado which had fresh cut French fries in it. Very tender meat and a delicious entree. She really enjoyed it. They've added a nice selection of non seafood items since they first opened. For cocktails I had a Pisco Sour and my wife had a plum based drink. Both unique and refreshing. For dessert we had the made to order picarones which are donuts made out of sweet potato. Was covered in a fig and sugar cane sauce. Heavenly way to end the meal! I absolutely loved this restaurant and cannot wait to return!

Ootoro tuna uni- not good at all
    Christine C.

I was really excited to try this place based on the reviews, but unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. The oysters were honestly disgusting. They tasted off enough that I had to spit mine out. To the restaurant's credit, they removed them from our bill without any issues, which I appreciated. The hamachi tostada with uni was probably the best thing we ordered, and the sushi sampler was also pretty good. Everything else fell flat. I didn't enjoy the ootoro with uni or the spicy tuna shoyu. The sesame black cod was completely overpowered by sauce, and the short rib was a major letdown. It took so long to come out that we almost canceled it, and when it finally arrived, the meat itself was tender, but the flavor was terrible. It just wasn't good. The pomegranate martini was also disappointing, and overall I didn't think the cocktail menu was very good. The only bright spot was our server, who was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The service here was actually great they were so friendly. Too bad the food didn't match the service. For the price, I expected so much more. Aside from two dishes, almost everything we ordered missed the mark. I left feeling disappointed and honestly regretted spending the money. Unfortunately, I wouldn't dine here again.

I've been dining at El Rocoto in Cerritos since college, and recently found out about their more seafood-focused sister restaurant, Rocoto Pesca Bar! There was ample parking in front and such beautiful decor once we were inside the restaurant. We were seated immediately because there was little to no wait on a weekend day evening. There's a lot of crossover between the menu at Rocoto Pesca Bar and at El Rocoto, but a clear distinction is the complimentary appetizer your server greets you with. You get the same aji verde and rocoto sauces seen at the Cerritos location, but instead of fresh bread, you get fresh potato chips for dipping. They were perfectly salted and so warm, which made them that much more addicting. It took everything in me not to ask for another order because they were THAT good. My friend was carb loading for an upcoming half marathon, so we ordered Grilled Octopus, Fettuccine Huancaina, Arroz Marisco, Hamachi Tostada, and Picarones. All the savory dishes were incredible, but I don't think I would order the Picarones again. Just because it didn't work out for me, doesn't mean it can't work out for you, so you should still try it and decide for yourself! My only regret in dining here was not having more stomach space to try the rest of their seafood menu. Guess we have no choice but to run it back the next time we're in HB!

This place is my favorite restaurant ever. We had the same server both times and he is so knowledgeable and a joy to talk with! His name is Max. The food is perfect. I would eat here every day if I could and my goal is to try everything on the menu. I've never seen something come out of the kitchen that didn't look absolutely delicious and made with care and passion. It's always cool inside and the tables are spaced well. Even when the restaurant is full, it doesn't feel too crowded.

Or maybe they like the cuisine, but for health reasons they've been told to avoid eating it. I know for me I just haven't come around to a lot of Asian cuisines that are focused on high vegetable and low protein content. But to this day Toby and I have never shared a seafood boil together. She has a germaphobe reaction to eating food with her hands and there's no easy way to knife-and-fork stuff like shrimp, crawfish, crab, or lobster. She's offered to get something else like fish n' chips or a plain steak or something, while I get myself a boil. However, one of the joys of boils is digging into a mound of Cajun-flavored seafood together as a group effort. A wondrous temple to the art like Roux Seafood Kitchen would be wasted on her. I couldn't get enough of their shrimp and crawfish. They were both plump, flavorful, and disassembled easy in my hands. At a lb. each, I was more than stuffed at meal's end. I think the only thing that could've made it better is if I had ordered a lobster tail in there. That would've been my ideal order. The service was great here for my party. The drinks were refilled quickly, the food was brought out in an efficient manner, and even the order taking was controlled in what kind of have been haphazard conditions. I liked the ambiance too. The dining room was a spacious and accommodating. The music was low. And the crowds were busy but not super full, which is where I like it. Nobody was on top of each other at neighboring tables and the noise level wasn't drowning. All in all, I think this is the perfect example of a seafood boil joint. The only thing that could've made it better is if my oldest eating buddy (and ex) could've miraculously gotten over her condition and joined me. That's the dream.

We had lunch here today...not the first time, but the first time that I can remember having swordfish tacos. I REALLY wanted swordfish. Since this is a fine dining restaurant, swordfish is expensive. So, I settled on The tacos and in typical style I ordered them with everything on the side. Alex (f) was on top of everything as served she up tacos with lots of swordfish and everything on the side. The swordfish was plentiful and cooked to perfection. This was a perfect alternative to all the swordfish steak and at least $10 less. My husband always orders the Fishermans Platter. Not sure is that's the name, but you get the idea. Lots of different fried stuff. It all looked fresh and golden brown and a great variety of different fish and seafood. We'll be back in a few weeks. Hope to see you!

The manager graciously removed it from the bill, but we're not sure we'd order it again. Sadly they no longer have King Crab. The fish and chips was decent. As always the Nawlins Shrimp was amazing. My wife loved the side dish of corn off the cob. We love the zero corkage fee if you bring your own bottle of wine.

They do this near the end of the month on Mondays. Unfortunately, this is their 3rd to last event as they're going to be doing some restructuring. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Drinks were flowing and the sashimi was non-stop. Nigiri and handrolls were also delicious and I ate until I was close to puking. It was super cool to be able to cut into the fresh fish from Mexico. It's definitely tougher than it looks. I always thought it would be easy to cut like butter, but definitely takes a lot of strength and skill. There were other tasty tuna dishes like the miso soup, salad and crispy tuna steak. I recommend sitting at the bar so you can see Chef Yamasaki cut the fish in the front row seats. It was cool to taste the varying levels of fatness of the fish. The super chutoro was practically butter. They also offered tuna to go at $50/lb. Definitely worth it. The venue is their regular restaurant but with more tables in the middle. A little loud but definitely a fun time. There were 3 birthdays too! We had ice cream mochi for dessert and there were strawberry cakes for the birthday girls. We averaged about $170 after tip and it was worth every penny.

I knew the food was going to be good when I saw the large table of Japanese businessmen visiting on a work trip. I got the handroll set and loved every bite. I am not at all a seafood person but the fish here was so fresh. You could tell the quality was way better than somewhere like ROL. The set is a lot of food though; both my husband and I were stuffed by the end of it. A must if you're looking for high quality sushi in HB.

I honestly almost gave this place a 5 star review until I went up to pay my bill at the end and…read morethis place showed they're just another stereotypical terrible Vietnamese-style customer service place. Ambiance is spectacular - interior is absolutely beautiful and they have amazing attention to details. Restrooms were very clean and nice too. Location is perfect - on Brookhurst in a great Vietnamese plaza off McFadden with tons of other great businesses around as well. Came here on Sunday of Labor Day weekend for dinner with a friend. We conveniently arrived around 430pm, and they surprisingly have Happy Hour on weekends as well. We ordered the Deep-fried salmon bellies, Oxtail tacos, Garlic noodles, Oysters, and later Whole Mussels Skillet all from their Happy Hour menu. We were pretty excited since they looked like really good deals. Salmon bellies, oxtail tacos, and Whole Mussels Skillet were all good. Garlic noodles - bland, needs more seasoning and greens with them such as cilantro and green onions, more cheese - something. Service - a young boy and girl, Mason and another girl helping us were very sweet. And to what made you guys lose 3 stars - "Oyster (Oyster minimum order is 1 dozen) $2" My friend and I thought this was some Happy Hour only special promo, so cool. I asked and they're just raw oysters - honestly they weren't that good, should've been cooked and seasoned in some way. Basically they didn't have to try much for these, besides ensuring they're clean and safe for consumption, but I thought it was a good deal so worth a shot trying. Then I got the bill and was like WTF? And the worse part was the lady's attitude about it, saying how it's common sense (ie you're stupid for not understanding). The obvious right way to write that is "Platter of a Dozen Oysters $24 and $2 for each additional oyster", not "Oyster (minimum a dozen) $2" - WTF, and she acted like I'm the first to call her out on that. Said she can't do anything, it's obvious, but sure she can tell someone to make a note to update the menu and seemed to roll her eyes. Mason, the young server was nice and understanding, but I couldn't stand the basic Vietnamese woman with HEAVY makeup working at the front. My friend I had dinner with found her extremely rude too. Would I come back? Not likely anymore. Would I recommend them? If you're willing to pay for nice ambiance, decent food, but GOD-AWFUL SERVICE, then be my guest. As a Vietnamese person myself, I'm ashamed of people like these for perpetuating the cheapskate Vietnamese stereotype.

Told him it was our first time and he gave us time to look over the menu. We got the signature combo ($31.95) that came with a lobster roll, a side, spring mix salad, and cup of soup. Got the maine lobster roll, fries as the side, and clam chowder. We also got a classic butter lobster roll ($21.95) with salad since we weren't too hungry and shared the fries. For such a decent price the lobster rolls had a very good amount of lobster meat and not too heavy handed on the mayo and butter. The buttered roll was not too thick and held the fillings perfectly without breaking apart. We enjoyed the crunchy battered fries and the dressing on the salad was perfect. The spring mix was really fresh as well. The clam chowder had a thinner consistency than what I would prefer but it had a rich seafood flavor. The items we got did not include drinks but we prefer water anyway. For the total price we paid, it was a great meal and we left very full and satisfied. Rated 10/10 for the food, flavor, amount, and price. Oh and the customer service too! There's a good amount of tables mostly for groups of two or four. It was a nice place to grab a casual delicious meal and enjoy the food without feeling rushed. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back to try more items.

All three were loaded with a really generous amount of lobster, definitely not skimpy, and at around $22 each, I thought the portions were pretty good for the price. The Connecticut Style was my favorite. The lobster is served warm and poached in butter, with just a touch of mayo, green onions, and Old Bay. I really liked the combination of the warm buttery lobster with the creaminess from the mayo. The Maine Style is served cold with lemon aioli and celery, while the Classic Butter is warm buttered lobster with Old Bay. Both were good, but I'd order the Connecticut again without hesitation. If you're a lobster lover, this is a fun spot because you can try the different styles and actually taste the difference. Connecticut Style = the winner for me!
