We happened upon this delicious restaurant by chance! Saw it as we drive by and decided to come check it out for dinner on a Sunday night. Max was our server and he took great care of us from beginning to end. We ordered the ceviche mixto to start. It was so tasty with all that fresh seafood in a light tangy sauce. We ordered fried tortillas to accompanied it. For the mains, we ordered the lomo saltado and the steamed black cod dish. This was one of the best lomo saltados that I've had. It had the charred smokiness reminiscent of the Chinese "wok hei" taste. The beef cubes were tender. The potato fries were perfect because they still had a bit of hardness and not all mush by the end of the meal. The portion was generous and easily can be split and shared with 2-3 people. The Chifa black cod dish was a smaller portion. The cod was buttery soft and had a very delicate flavor. We really like this dish too! We were treated to a complimentary sample of their sushi as well. So nice of them! It was a delicious smoky aburi salmon nigiri. That smoky taste was still in my mouth an hour after we left the restaurant! We will definitely be back when we're in the area again and will be telling all our friends about it. I was really excited to try this place based on the reviews, but unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. The oysters were honestly disgusting. They tasted off enough that I had to spit mine out. To the restaurant's credit, they removed them from our bill without any issues, which I appreciated. The hamachi tostada with uni was probably the best thing we ordered, and the sushi sampler was also pretty good. Everything else fell flat. I didn't enjoy the ootoro with uni or the spicy tuna shoyu. The sesame black cod was completely overpowered by sauce, and the short rib was a major letdown. It took so long to come out that we almost canceled it, and when it finally arrived, the meat itself was tender, but the flavor was terrible. It just wasn't good. The pomegranate martini was also disappointing, and overall I didn't think the cocktail menu was very good. The only bright spot was our server, who was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The service here was actually great they were so friendly. Too bad the food didn't match the service. For the price, I expected so much more. The drinks are a must, especially their pisco sour. We tried the mixto grill plate that included scallops, shrimps, and octopus! The shrimps were so good, they had a charbroiled flavor. It was a nice sampler to try everything, however, the octopus was a bit chewy. We also had a ceviche dish with scallop and fish. The scallops were sweet and delicious, I would order a scallop only ceviche if they served it. The server was very informative introducing the dishes, thought process, and specials menu. As the restaurant got more busy, expected on Friday night, then there were less check ins with our server. I would definitely return to try their hot plates and stir fry dishes. read more

My girlfriend wanted to try this new place instead of Omakase and I'm SO GLAD WE DID! Parking is pretty easy around the restaurant so no worries there. Once you enter, you feel like you've taken the magic school bus straight to the markets of Peru. You become instantly transported to flavor town instead of Huntington Beach. I love the decor and the layout of the place. Water tastes very clean and filtered. Not tap. Food: - POTATO CHIPS! They gave these out for free with a little chili dipping sauce, and these were absolutely addicting. I could eat a whole bowl of these. 10/10 - Mix of the Sea - Sizzling Platter - honestly everything was pretty good except for the octopus/Pulpo. Good thing we didn't order the full octopus appetizer because I would've been sad. The flavors were good though. Shrimp was delicious. I could have done all shrimp. Scallop had an amazing butter on there. Squid was tender. However, Octopus was a little tough and rubbery. Not as tender as I hoped. 7/10 - Playa Mixto - Mixed ceviche - This was the same case here I loved the scallops. Fish was tender. Octopus was not as tender as I had hoped. 8/10 Drinks were very delicious as well! We had the Tamarind and the Pisco Sour. 10/10 Service was a little bit slower as it was super busy. I think they could have added one more server. However all of the staff was very nice and friendly. They seemed like they were in the weeds since there were a lot of big parties. The service was excellent and I really enjoyed the complimentary cilantro soup and home-made potato chips. Scallop she'll (4/5); This was grilled with cheese and butter inside. The cheese was a bit strong, but it was unique thing to try. Limo Sataldo (4/5); The meat was a bit rubbery, but the flavor was on point. My wife and I were pretty blown away by this place. We used to eat here when it was Boston Market so we were amazed by the transformation. Beautiful interior with very comfortable seating. Outstanding welcoming service from the moment we walked in the door until we left. While perusing the menu we were brought fresh made potato chips served with a spicy dip. Very unexpected unique complimentary starter! We started with Peruvian scallops that were grilled in the shell. Two Parmesan Reggiano and two brown butter hazelnut. These scallops are really tiny for the price but with huge flavor. Both flavors were fantastic and I would order again. I love Peruvian Cebiche so I got the playa mixto which was fish, shrimp, octopus, scallops, corn nuts, onions, and sweet potato served in a spicy tigre leche marinade. Seriously the best cebiche I have ever tasted. The seafood was as fresh as it gets and the liquid was spicy and sour. I'm salivating right now thinking about it. My wife went with the classic Lomo Saltado which had fresh cut French fries in it. Very tender meat and a delicious entree. She really enjoyed it. They've added a nice selection of non seafood items since they first opened. For cocktails I had a Pisco Sour and my wife had a plum based drink. Both unique and refreshing. For dessert we had the made to order picarones which are donuts made out of sweet potato. Was covered in a fig and sugar cane sauce. Heavenly way to end the meal! I've been dining at El Rocoto in Cerritos since college, and recently found out about their more seafood-focused sister restaurant, Rocoto Pesca Bar! There was ample parking in front and such beautiful decor once we were inside the restaurant. We were seated immediately because there was little to no wait on a weekend day evening. There's a lot of crossover between the menu at Rocoto Pesca Bar and at El Rocoto, but a clear distinction is the complimentary appetizer your server greets you with. You get the same aji verde and rocoto sauces seen at the Cerritos location, but instead of fresh bread, you get fresh potato chips for dipping. They were perfectly salted and so warm, which made them that much more addicting. It took everything in me not to ask for another order because they were THAT good. My friend was carb loading for an upcoming half marathon, so we ordered Grilled Octopus, Fettuccine Huancaina, Arroz Marisco, Hamachi Tostada, and Picarones. All the savory dishes were incredible, but I don't think I would order the Picarones again. Just because it didn't work out for me, doesn't mean it can't work out for you, so you should still try it and decide for yourself! My only regret in dining here was not having more stomach space to try the rest of their seafood menu. Guess we have no choice but to run it back the next time we're in HB! read more

I haven't been to many Peruvian restaurants so trying something new was a win already. We had a little group date for dinners and this place was a recommendation. Someone had already been and highly recommended this place. It's part of a strip mall just off the main strip of Goldenwest and Warner right on the corner. There's plenty of parking out front as well as the lot behind. The restaurant itself was an open concept with a cute design. It wasn't overly crowded but a fairly good amount of people seated. Our group had one of the tufted seated juts off the kitchen area. Started off with some drinks. A mixture of cocktail, beer and wine was had. Service was great and the gentleman that took care of us a doll. I didn't quite get his name though. It did take us a little while to order as we were all debating on how to proceed with this. Finally it was a go with literally everything and just share it all. A family style type of meal. Menu literally had so many options to choose from. It's like everything you see you want. Started off with some of the grill items. Scallops in the shell. They're not too big but pretty flavorful. The grilled octopus was quite tasty with that smoke taste and paired perfectly with the sauces accompanying it. Cant miss the shrimp with head on. A few other items were ordered and literally everything was excellent. Of course you can't come and not have the ceviche dishes. Let me say that was one of the favorites of the nights. The hamachi was excellent and a must try. The flavors and the nice chunks of fish, it was totally a showstopper of the night. Perfect portion of slice fish and the marinade with the sweet and lemon sauce was perfect. Besides that, there was another dish with the mix seafood of shrimp, octopus as well as more fish. Literally everything was amazing. I didn't do any of the ordering but did say get everything and anything that looked amazing. Which the whole menu does. Even down to the calamari which it could be a hit or miss. They did it right. A nice perfect crunch and the filling sauce was delicious. It was a plentiful potion of amazing dishes that kept coming out. Nothing in order but whatever was brought out it didn't last. The streak with fries and with a fried egg onto was a major hit. Plus the Caesar salad was one of the best I've had. Other dishes, the fettuccine with steak was quite tasty. The seafood fried rice with a fried egg onto top was descent. Good but the others dishes takes the cake. All the fried items that came out were executed. Good potion of seafood and lightly deep fried to a nice crunch and the dipping sauce combo, amazing. Cant leave out the oysters which were big and meaty. It came out already arrived with the sauce which was flavorful. There was a dish that I didn't try as I wasn't a fan of. I believe it was the hearts or liver which everyone love. Everyone had an amazing time enjoying good food. We did end the night with an order of the donuts and the sugar sauce. Service was great. The food was excellent and to be able to share it with good company, it was worth it. There was a little mishap with the bill on one of the drinks but it was taken care of. What an enlightening cuisine experience at Rocoto! Fusion of Peruvian and Japanese flavors and styles make for some super intricate and surprising dishes. WOW!!!! Had the BEST time ever yesterday, 1/24/2026. It was our first time dining here and it was OUTSTANDING! Thank you to Christian and his marvelous team for making us feel so welcomed and making such incredible, tasty food. We ate EVERYTHING, not one drop of sauce or rice or chopped cilantro was left on our plates. Wish we took a pic of the aftermath to show how divine everything was and how it got devoured! This restaurant will be an absolute staple in our fun night out's when all of our schedules match. I have been meaning to write this review, I moved to Huntington Beach in October and I live off Warner and I keep passing this place and I'm like that place looks good so my girlfriends and I went a few weeks ago and we had such a nice dinner! The service was amazing. I wish I would've got everybody's name, but the vibe is great. Everybody was very nice and welcoming.. Finally made it in to try Rocoto! It's been on our list since we heard a new Peruvian spot was coming to town. We came for a late lunch and were seated quickly. We were given some delicious chips to munch on while we looked over the menu. There were so many amazing sounding dishes. The waiter recommended the tallarin saltado surf and turf so I went with that. My husband got the chaufa pollo. Lunch items came with a soup and we also ordered playa mixto ceviche. The first item to arrive was the soup. Today's was fish soup and I could have eaten a whole bowl of this stuff. The flavors were incredible. My husband agreed and he doesn't normally like soup. The ceviche was good. We are not huge ceviche connoisseurs but we felt like we had to try it. I don't think we're the best to judge it though. We probably wouldn't get it again. The main dishes. Both were awesome. While eating we started texting family to set up another meal here. The tallarin was warm and comforting. Yes , it's Peruvian food for those who didn't know by the building sign and didn't see the street level marquis . The old Boston Market went away and a white sterile looking restaurant sprung up in its wake . Very nice semi fancy or upper casual place good for date night . When we were there on a Wednesday, saw several couples , locals trying out the new eatery. Nice, quiet Peruvian restaurant and bar. The owner is related to the owner of El Rocoto which is our usual go to Peruvian restaurant (Gardena location). The food is slightly similar but more upscale without being overpriced. Great for date night. The staff were welcoming and our waiter was friendly. Food came out at a good pace. Grilled Octopus - Had nice char, fresh, and was tender. The sauce was very citrus forward and tasted like it had a hint of tom yum seasoning. Refreshing taste. Croquette Rellena - 2 potato balls with light onion salsa and sauce. Delicious! Great for picky eaters. Short Rib Fettucini - One of our favorite dish. The short rib with red wine sauce was tender, juicy, and delicious. Paired with perfectly cooked fettuccine. Ugh. This was so good. We'll definitely order again. Pesto Criollo with Skirt Steak - Unfortunately the steak was DRY and the pesto pasta was salty. We usually love skirt steak but it was way overcooked. Ribeye - Favorite dish. Great quality steak cooked to perfect medium rare. Fries were crispy and the caesar salad was perfection. This was a winner. So good that my family was eating off my plate. Overall, would come back. Stopped by here couple of weekends ago with my husband since we knew this was a new spot that was open in town. It's a Peruvian meet Japanese fusion style if I could describe it. Very modern clean ambiance....simple menu and the person serving us was great about explaining everything! We ordered the octopus and the ceviche to share. Ceviche was very delicious and the octopus had lots of flavor but the meat itself was on the slightly chewier side than I usually like for these type of dishes! This was hands down one of the best restaurants I've been to in Orange County, if not in California as a whole. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by a contemporary restaurant, with tasteful nods to Peruvian culture and heritage. I received a perfect martini, and some of the best oysters I've had. We also ordered some of their specialty cocktails, and we soon learned that they have one of the best bars in Huntington Beach. We also had the cebiche mix that you have to try to truly understand how delicious. We also ordered the scallops in their two preparations. One was a delicious parmesan, and the other a brown butter shoyu. Both TO DIE FOR. For entrees we ordered the Paz Bay, a white fish in French preparation that knocked us both out. First time trial out the new local Peruvian seafood bar! Fusion flavors from French and Japanese influences. Service was prompt and friendly mid-afternoon on Saturday. The full bar with many custom cocktails to try will have to wait for another day. We tried 3 appetizers, 3 entrees and 2 desserts between the four of us so I feel we sampled a pretty good tasting of their flavors and dishes. Appetizers were great. Octopus, mixed cerbiche and scallop and hamachi plate were all unique and flavorful. The loma saltado had a great sauce. The fish with pesto sauce was also great. I liked the ingredients in my arroz merisco but the flavor got overshadowed y our other two dishes. The flan was perfect. My kids liked the donuts but the sauce wasn't for me. We tried a few of the seafood apps/dishes: * Playa Mixto - a fresh and flavorful mix of raw seafood with a light sauce and sweet potato puree. * Shiguko Oysters - 3 fresh and clean with a spicy sauce and lime tangy option (fav) * Aji Tuna Tostada - -also raw seafood Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. You can tell they put effort into the presentation and ingredients. That said, I'm used to more of the Mexican-style ceviche, so the Peruvian seafood flavors were different for me--not bad at all, just more light and mild. I'm definitely curious to come back and try one of their hot dishes like the Loma Saltado or a paella seafood rice. Overall, a solid first impression. We were pleased with our dinner! We started wit appetizer consisted of fried calamari, Ceviche, causa and grilled octopus. What a way to start the evening. Great food as service. Definitely a must if you love seafood. We had scallops and fish. So good

This place surprised me on the food as everything we ordered was refreshing and fresh. The night I went they were offering a drink special where you get 2 oysters and a martini for $20. Most of the dishes we had were raw as had ceviche and sashimi. The one cooked dish was a sea bass that was lightly fried and had a tasty sauce. It wasn't very busy when we came, so it wasn't loud with people talking. Seems like a place where couples go for a date. Our sever spent a lot of time explaining the French-Jaoanese-style Peruvian cuisine. You can ask for samples of their juices. I liked the Tropical Palmer because it doesn't have caffeine, which I wanted to avoid because we had a late dinner. I ended up getting one of the recommendations: Pez Bay.
