Mint chocolate chip ice cream for dessert!

The Red Tavern is top shelf. We came here for our 35th Anniversary and we were not disappointed we chose this place. The food was just wonderful and drinks were always good. We had the best time and enjoyed our meal. Service was excellent as you'd expect at an upper echelon restaurant. The vibe is a quiet elegance, and was great! Thanks for making our celebration excellent!

Perfect! Fantastic! Can't wait to go back. Great atmosphere, food was delicious, service was great. The owner was very personable and made us feel at home. Great menu. We sat and enjoyed our time there for my birthday for almost 3 hours. Wine, cocktails, appetizers, entrées, and dessert order very good. Can't say enough good things!

The reservation staff was the beginning of an excellent experience. The new owners have built a wonderful team. Bailey was so refreshing as our server with excellent service a fun comebacks to our teasing. The food was wonderful and they made special accommodations for our elderly party. We will be back!

Alsatian Tarte Flambee appetizer! It was amazing!

Came here for our anniversary and had the best time! We sat on the patio which was nice and cool thanks to all the trees and shade! They had a little sign on our table saying happy anniversary which was so sweet. Our server was great she was super nice and attentive. We started with some delicious cocktails and the tarte appetizer. I love how the menu slightly changed to serve what was is in season. The tomatoes and arugula were delicious in it. They also have an option for $16 to add a salad or soup and a dessert to any entree. We both got the Caesar and they were great. I loved the meatloaf and would definitely order it again, my husband enjoyed the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly. We both ended the meal with the bread pudding and gelato. I also love how they have wine pairing suggestion for all of the entrees that made selecting a wine easy! This is a great spot if you wanna come celebrate or just have a nice meal. I'd love to come back here with friends and share some appetizers and some wine!

Sunday brunch! Their 2nd weekend in and it was delicious. Our server Amanda was there for recommendations and looked after us so well during our meal. We started with the deviled eggs which were all equally tasty. We did the spicy crab Benedict and the duck confit hash. The Benedict had the perfect amount of spice, and was served with a warm potato salad. That potato "salad" ended up being a favorite part. Roasted potatoes, tomatoes, and capers. Wow! Duck hash was yummy. There's something to be said for food that is prepared so lovingly and is so balanced you don't want for anything. We sat inside but the patio had someone spinning records which will be fun for next time. Reservations recommended, and I can see why when this gets more popular! My only request would be an online option to do this.

Connor was our server and was especially patient this as a family of 6 it a 4 year old in tow. It was a lively evening where everyone tried something new and all of it was delicious. a really nice lady whom I am sure was either an owner or part of the management team, brought our little one crayons to color with while we waited. Her the gentleman manager/owner also helped clear out first course and Conner kept our wine glasses from being empty. We had a lovely time. Thank you to all of the staff that assisted us with our evening!

I have been wanting to try this place for quite awhile! The Red Tavern is located in Chico..in an unpretentious location (esplanade avenue). They open at 430 pm daily. We went here today..december 20th..see receipt. Although smaller then expected it had a very cozy atmosphere. Alot of artwork on the walls. For dinner i shared the 10 ounce steak and the 11 dollar happy hour sauteed shrimp. The steak was too rare for me but the shrimp sautéed in butter and garlic was delicious! We enjoyed their house cab...only 7 dollars during happy hour( which lasts till 6 pm). The cab tasted like a 20 dollar glass of wine! We also had the egg nog cheesecake which was so good! They have indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating has large patio heaters. They have a smaller area to sit at the bar. They offer a full bar and a TON of signature cocktails. This place is a bit more upscale then super casual attire (fyi). The staff is friendly and super accommodating! Shae was our waitress and she was delightful and on top of everything! The female owner (chris i think) checked on us and was genuinely intetested in feedback from other patrons! Plenty of parking in the front and back of restaurant.. next time i am in the area i will try the halibut! Ps. MAKE RESERVATIONS! They get very busy!

Not only is their wine and champagne fantastic (organic-sulphate free!), it's also ideal for the kind of quaint and intimate gathering I was desiring. Everywhere I turned, there was a sweet face to converse and catch-up with. We brought in a great musician to play his saxophone while we all danced around. And my charcuterie spread was of the chain, fantastic. It covered a whole dining table. My favorite was enjoying my apricot and cream filled cake from nearby Upper Crust Bakery. Their server was on point. She kept everyone's champagne glasses full, which was crucial on this hot summer's evening. I wish I could party like this every weekend. It felt like a real Napa-Chico experience. I'd recommend to anyone to have their special event here. Thank you LaRocca, I'll be back! -Prairie

Highly acidic flat wine that had a few varieties in bottle. We choked our way thru the first tasting and apologized to the staff member " it just wasn't our flavor". I paid the full fare and he denied it. I apologized again and left it in his tip jar for two tasting and a glass. This winery has been around since the 80's. The tasting room was a bit cluttered and a nice tasting bar but staff not the wine held our attention. Maybe there's reason why wine has improved since the Dawn of time.

We were promptly seated, and given a great spot near the wall-sized indoor fountain which was nice. We started with cocktails and appetizers, and they all came out quickly. We started with bread, which was excellent. We moved on to the grilled artichokes, which were also pretty special. The jalapeno aioli added to the smokiness of the grilled artichokes. We loved them. The bib salad was also a treat - nice chop, and the lardons were perfectly cooked little flavor bombs that stood up nicely to the blue cheese. We had the lobseter ravioli, and the single-layer crispy lasagne for our meals. The lobster ravioli was delicious, and the freshly made sundried tomatoes added a little extra structure to balance the plate. The single layer lasagne was really interesting. Wasn't sure what to expect, and the server said it was a little controversial, so I tried it. It came out as a large sheet - fresh spinach pasta sheets, layered with a delicious bolognese sauce, and topped with pesto and bechamel. Unconventional? Yes. Delicious? YES! I'm so glad I was feeling experimental - it was an innovative dish. Overall, we loved it. Service was very solid - attentive, without being intrusive. Perfect evening! Previous review: Dropped in here just to check it out. We came early on Thursday, and it was jumping! Got a seat at the Kitchen bar to have a few apps, and a cocktail, and had a fantastic snack and talked with some great folks in the kitchen. Pizza is fantastic wood -oven style, and the service was great. Wish I had photos - but I'll save those for the next time i visit and do a more thorough tour of the menu.

They have absolutely NAILED their Pana Cotta. Normally, I wouldn't be a huge fan of pana cottas as it has come across to gelatin-y in the past, but I get it every time. The service is amazing. It is clear they are aiming to offer an elevated experience. That being said, it is on the longer side of a meal, and I find it much more enjoyable when I accept the leisurely pace and order an appetizer. When I do order an appetizer, the meal seems perfectly paced. Without it, it could seem a bit slow. I've loved the zucchini blossoms, calamari, and Caesar salad. (I do really like the burrata ones as well, but it's just so easy to make on your own from Trader Joes at a much lower premium.) I also love that they offer complementary focaccia, which used to be made in house. I don't believe it is now, but it is still very good. My fave dishes to get are anything with their droolworthy polenta like their chicken or veal saltimbocca (I prefer the chicken) for dinner or their chicken marsala for lunch. The chicken marsala probably is my absolute favorite, which means I HAVE to come here for their lunch sometimes, which are only Thursday and Friday. Really lovely atmosphere. I have and love to sit on their porch but no longer do because of the traffic noise. Chico designed Bruce with the traffic light right there and it's so bad - basically a raceway for meatheads in their loud trucks and motorcycles when the light turns green. Mosquitos absolutely become a problem so while I love that they sometimes put up the garage style doors/windows when the weather is nice to create a lovely indoor/outdoor experience, if you're a mosquito magnet like me, that is not the time for you to come in without mosquito protection. (One time was so bad that even though they closed it, I left with - I kid you not, I counted - no less that 18 mosquito bites on my calf.
