I found myself recently vaccinated and ready to enjoy the patio life, and this place absolutely fit the bill. No better spot to spend a sunny, chill afternoon, I think. The sidewalks were filled with so much good people watching, and the patio seating offers lots of options in sun or shade, which pale ones like me appreciate. My date and I came too late for brunch, sadly, but enjoyed the mushroom pesto crepe and the G.O.A.T., and both were tasty. And because we couldn't wait to eat, we also got the last chocolate zucchini muffin they had, which absolutely blew me away. Don't get me wrong, the sandwich and crepe were good. Fresh, full and worth the price. But this muffin. Could they have crammed any more butter and brown sugar in there? No. And it was fantastic. So well seasoned, too. Americano tasted great, and the salted honey latte was fun. The honey ended up in the bottom a bit, but enjoyed it. The salt on top was amazing. Staff was also friendly as heck and really kind. Hubs and I stopped by here today. I loved this place for so many reasons!! Where to begin. 1)the food. Gluten free snickerdoodle sooo good! Raspberry croissant. Omg wish I'd had two more. 2)the coffee and chai also very good 3)the gal and guy working this evening. Probably the friendliest two people I came across all day. when I asked what something was because I'd never heard of it she offered to give me a little syrup to take home and try in my coffee. I wish I'd gotten her name. If she was working around 5pmish 4/10 a+ customer service. 4)they take mask wearing seriously. Which is so nice. Enjoyed a delightful brunch here this past weekend. It was really busy but we were still able to find a seat inside, many other people chose to dine outside since the weather was so nice. The hostess taking our order was upfront and honest and let us know that the kitchen was running behind and food might take about 40-45 minutes to come out. This used to be my go to coffee stop in the E Bowl. But the lines started going out the door (literally) and the seating was hard come by. I know that is usually a good thing for the biz. But it isn't so much for the customers. I was down there on a Saturday and I could see the lines and I just walk across the street to Cafe Louve (best place to enjoy a coffee in the Bowl). Other times I walk down the to Walnut Cafe (Walnut knows how to move a line that is often also out the door). I think the issue is they haven't found the sweet spot where dealing with the "in a bit of a rush coffee and pasty patrons" and "want to sit down and chat with friends over entire breakfasts brunches." With just one cashier, it is way too long to wait for a latte. Truthful these aren't the lattes waiting in such a long and slow line for. They need to figure out how to serve the fast food single grab orders and the brunch crowds. It's great and worth the wait for their sit down options. But grabbing a coffee is better done elsewhere. read more

I LOVE RED TWIG. We went here on Mother's Day and sat on the patio for a couple hours under an umbrella covered table where our dog was welcome to sit on a nice sunny day. So good!! We had visited once previously to indulge in some of their baked goods, which were delicious! You would think breakfast would be as good or better right?! WRONG! No place to sit. Communication between the counter and the kitchen which is five feet away, is non existent. Ordered two entrees and a cup of coffee which was as weak as the service there, and the food never arrived. Love to support locals businesses, especially those who support veterans, but not when the service is that bad. The guy working behind the counter was not friendly or especially proficient at his role. As a matter of fact, nobody working there seemed to have any sense of urgency or pride in their work, except for the Baker!... This is a very popular spot on a Saturday in Edmonds! My friend and I ordered our food, walked around for an hour, and returned to be seated in the outdoor table. Make sure you show up early on a weekend since they do not do reservations ahead of time. The ambience and energy at this place is amazing! We ordered the Pork + Sweet Potato Hash with poached eggs, which had a lot of flavor (highly recommend), and the challah French toast (weekends only). We had hoped to get carry out and then enjoy a nearby Mother's Day picnic. We called five times before 11 am, and no one answered, and the restaurant apparently has no way to order takeout online. We drove the ~20 min. there, and waited in line for 30 minutes; and JUST before ordering, it was announced that the breakfast menu was now closed, while the staff discussed various ingredients they had run out of. I was then told the wait would be 30 more minutes for any takeout orders. Okay, I love Red Twig, been going there for YEARS. Before it got insanely popular as it is now. Great food, ambiance, employees, and coffee. There used to be a pretty diverse menu and I loved that too. Now the menu is pretty limited, just like the seating, and the last few times I went it to eat the food mediocre at best. Not very flavorful and given I'm paying a dinner price for a breakfast or lunch I'd at least like the quality to be comparable to the price. The pastries, quiches, and drinks are still delicious but waiting 45 minutes for subpar food just ain't it anymore folks. POACHED EGG FANS... HEADS UP: The 3 out of 4 times that I or a friend have ordered a menu item that included a poached egg it arrived as a hard boiled egg. The second time it happened I asked them to remake the dish and it was remade with a beautifully poached egg. It CAN be done! The only time the egg arrived properly poached I had made sure that, at the time I ordered, I SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED a SOFT poached egg. I happened to see a set of hard boiled yokes on the plates of two other patrons. Red Twig! Please refine your egg poaching skills. I want to love you with all 5 stars! I also ordered a crepe that had roasted potatoes in it but there were only 4 potato cubes in the entire crepe. Tasted great but feeling jipped on the taters, precious. The drinks and pastries are very good in general and if you want a special treat, an actual stop-and-smell-the-roses moment [ one drink even has roses nestled atop the foam so this is actually doable], then I HIGHLY RECOMMEND their specialty drink menu. read more

The pie was mere perfection. The apples and the crust were exquisite. I wonder if this place ever makes cherry pie or key lime pie. Nonetheless, good place for an afternoon snack. What a cozy little coffee shop in the heart of downtown Edmonds. I've been to this coffee shop a couple of times now and it has always felt so homey. The second time I came around, there was actually live music! A few students at a local high school were playing. What a fantastic surprise. The coffee is good and the service is fast. Their specials are always good and they seem to rotate them fairly often. Also one of the best things about this place is their hours. They stay open pretty late at night compared to other coffee shops around the area.
