I had the California burger and my boo had the teriyaki burger. Both were bigger than our mouths! These burgers are not for the weak of heart. You have to stretch your mouths in ways you've never stretched your mouth to get these down the hatch. I'm considering going through surgery to unhinge my jaw so I can more easily eat here! My first visit so a 3+ for now. Once and a while, I get a hunger for "un BurGair du Jardin", restaurant style. On the basis of positive reviews, I went to the Red Wagon. Now you may ask, how can a garden burger be good at a beef hamburger joint?? Well, it was! Lots of stuff on a huge bun, the patty cooked through (so many I have are still partially frozen on the inside) and thousand island as the "secret sauce". Pretty dang yummy. They specialize in char broiling their regular burgers. In addition they offer wraps, chicken based items and a variety of Philly cheese steaks. I was likewise impressed that they offer a few bona fide veggie items. They also offer beer by the bottle. Two minor demerits - the fries were OK but not memorable and a little on the small serving size. I also had onion on my garden burger. I expected raw and these were grilled and left the bun pretty soggy. The sandwich fell apart. I'll give them another try. 5 for 5 in context of a burger joint - but so much more! My wife and I were visiting our son and family and stopped in here after having tried Eagen's a couple days earlier. No comparison (I gave Eagen's a 3 star rating). The place is modern, bright, clean, the staff very friendly, flexible with orders, brought the food to us - and the food, wow...we were impressed. I ordered the Philly, large, the big one with the melted cheese, and the homemade onion rings. The meat was nicely peppered and seasoned with no 'boingy' pieces of gristle or fat - very lean, fall apart in your mouth, the mushrooms/onions perfectly done, and trust me and just get a fork as there is no way to eat this in a way that keeps the massive portion in the bread...delicious, messy, the way a Philly should be. Also had a chocolate shake (made with real ice cream not soft-serve). I asked for extra chocolate and it was made to order. The onion ring batter was amazing, had what seemed to be small parsley flakes in it, texture was nice...not light, not too heavy...just perfect. My wife had a 1-piece Alaskan Cod fish and chips - 'absolutely delicious' she said, the fish had clearly been hand cut, hand battered, not too thick not to thin. The fries seemed to be double fried as their texture and taste was deliciously different - the tartar sauce had to have been prepared in house as well, just different than the squeeze the bottle variety. They advertise made to order and my guess is they would specialize your order to whatever you'd like - they were happy, polite, just plain cared that we got everything we wanted the way we wanted it. I made a decision to go off of their online menu special but was disappointed to find something different in person. Still wonderful! I have been here many times now, and it is always delicious. I actually CRAVE their french fries! I usually am not a big fan of fries, but these are yummy. Not sure how they do it since they are so crunchy on the outside, but tender on the inside, with a lot of flavor. Yumm. The only way this place could get better is if they had a drive-thru for pick-up of to-go orders that had been called in. Sometimes I just don't feel like getting dressed again or putting a bra back on, just to pick-up dinner. Most women will know what I mean with that ... you've had a long day, you are tired, first thing off is the bra, then the shoes. We've been here many times. Great food and good prices. They accept modifications without blinking. Two employees made sure to tell my mom (who ordered the Garden burger with no sliced cheese) that the burger patty itself had cheese inside of it. Great customer service! If you're keto, they have great options here. I got the double cheeseburger, no tomato, no bun, house sauce on the side, and it came out with lettuce on the top and bottom. I counted it as 6 carbs (2 each for the slices of American, 1 for the red onion and lettuce, and 1 for the 2 teaspoons of house sauce [thousand island]). Delicious and totally doable! I don't know why they feel it necessary to make a gravy like marinade for the cheesesteaks, but it's not good. It's more like a sloppy joe than a cheesesteak. Stick to tradition or at least warn people on the menu that it's a "take on cheesesteak ". Fries are okay, clam strips aren't worth the $. Supposed to have "wiz" on it but we couldn't find it (absolutely no orange cheese anywhere), no peppers, had mayo, the steak tasted like it had an Asian flare to it (hoisin maybe) nothing Philly about this cheesesteak. I got the bacon cheeseburger last time I was here but tried the California burger today. Both are exceptional. I also love the way they do their fries. Super crispy. They offer Sriracha on their condiment stand so I mix that with my ketchup which is awesome. I like that they offer something more than plain ketchup. The food was fast and fresh and the staff were friendly and helpful. I beat the lunch rush by about 3 minutes cause the line was almost out the door by the time I left with my to go order at 11:30. You can tell it's popular. They offer a couple ice teas and bottle soda along with the normal fountains. I even saw some beer bottles for sale. I'm looking forward to trying the onion rings next time I'm in Tumwater. read more

Daybreak recently changed their name to Red Wagon. The old name sounded a lot like a breakfast place, which is kind of nuts when they aren't even open for breakfast. Red Wagon is a much better name for a place that specializes in fantastic burgers and cheese steaks. Red Wagon is a fast - casual short order grill that quickly churns out massive fresh burgers and flavorful gooey cheesesteaks. They pay close attention to the quality of the ingredients: The burger patties are hand - formed, the buns are nice and spongy, and the lettuce is always crisp. I'm not talking about a high - end burger with fancy pants ingredients, I'm talking about a working man's burger that you have to eat with two hands. There's even a big pile of cooked bacon on the grill, kind of like Red Mill burgers up in Seattle. In fact, now that I think about it, I wonder if Red Mill is kind of the inspiration for Red Wagon, because they're both awesome in similar ways. You can get your burger or cheesesteak with fries, which are great, or with onion rings, which are awesome. If I can give you one piece of advice about this place, it's this: get the onion rings. They're huge, with crispy batter and sweet onions. They don't come out of a freezer bag, you can see them making them right behind the counter. I'm just going to say this and then leave it there for you to think about: you cannot get better onion rings anywhere near Olympia... And if you ask for ranch, they just bring you a whole bottle of the house - made dressing, no little cup, and no extra charge. I don't really have time to do the cheesesteaks justice, but I have been to Pat's and Geno's in Philly, and Red Wagon is better. That's right, a cheesesteak from Red Wagon in Olympia, Washington is superior to the cheesesteaks from either of the two most famous places in Philedelphia. I can hear all the cheesesteaks enthusiasts booing me right now, but I don't care. I said it and I meant it. I know the location near the Olympia airport isn't the most convenient for a lot of people. I can only pray that people in this town get down to Red Wagon, try it, and make it very, very profitable in the long run. This little restaurant used to be called Pepper Jack. It is near the building I work in and a few coworkers recommended we go for lunch. I give one star for the smiling service I received. I ordered a crispy chicken salad with ranch dressing and French fries. I ate very little of either. The chicken on the salad was horrible. Deep crispy brown the meat was not real chicken. There was black hair in my lettuce and the ranch dressing lacked flavor. The fries had a peculiar taste as if they had been fried in an off brand of oil. This little gem of a greasy-spoon burger joint is tucked away in a little strip mall before the airport, it's almost east to miss! Red Wagon specializes in their burger and we did quite enjoy it. A large meat patty cooked to your liking with everything a good ol' fashioned burger needs - lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese. Add other toppings too if you like! The burger itself is quite large and for your money, you're definitely getting a great deal. I love the fact that each burger is served in a little wire basket tray with the checkered red and white paper under. My basket was also almost overflowing with delicious crispy french fries - the absolute must-have companion to a burger in my opinion. But not to worry, Red Wagon also serves great onion rings - HUGE rings actually. The place itself is large and clean, with lots of outdoor seating if you'd like to eat al fresco. Although it seems like more people opt to call in their order and pick it up to go. In either case, you will not be disappointed by the burgers at Red Wagon. I only wish that it wasn't so secluded and almost completely removed from the rest of civilization. I've finally tried this place out on Wednesday of this week for lunch. I had the Italian BMT with the combo fries and drink. The bread was good as well as the meats and the rest of the items, yet something was missing. On Thursday I went back and had the same sandwich except I had them add Italian Dressing and Pickled Cherry Peppers. Now that was a great sandwich, better than the Italian Combo from Meconi's.
